No wifi when bluetooth enabled - Nexus 7 (2013) Q&A

When I enable bluetooth my nexus 7 wil not or very poorly connect to my wifi network. When I do get connection, the speed is terribly slow.
When I switch off bluetooth it's all ok.
Anyone has this problem as well? I love my nexus 7 but it had the worst wifi on any of my tablets I've ever had, including those chinese cheap things. It will never connect to my 5 GHz. network.

Bluetooth and WIFI fix?

So I'm on official cm 10.2 and I have a problem where if I connect to a Bluetooth device my WiFi goes to crap. I've done a full nights research on this problem and apparently its pretty common post android 4.2. The only fix I have read about that seems to work for people is to get a duel band router and run 5GHz WiFi. So before I go buy yet another router to try to solve this problem I would like to know if any of you have run into this problem as well, or do not have it at all, or any fix other than the 5 GHz router? Is stock ROM having this problem as well? PA?
Thanks in advance
Your Bluetooth must be on and connected and in some cases you have to run speed test.net to see it get slow but mine simply loses signal after I try to surf. Or gets so slow as to be unusable. I'm streaming audio to a Bluetooth headset.
Most devices behave this way because bluetooth is also on 2.4ghz as well. A modern inverter style microwave oven in the kitchen can also FUBAR WiFi too because they also operate in this band. If you are that heavy of a user 5ghz would probably help...though keep in mind 5ghz doesn't travel as far.

I have the same problem with Nexus 7 android 4.3 but not with my LG optimus L9 android 4.2.2 phone. Wifi and Bluetooth both works fine with the phone but not with Nezus 7
Update: I solved my problem by buying a 2.4Ghz / 5Ghz dual band router.

[Q] Wi-Fi Ad-Hoc

I cannot find a definitive answer: Does the 2013 N7 support connecting to Wi-Fi Ad-Hoc networks? I do not have a router, but I do have a wireless card in my PC which I am using to broadcast a Wi-Fi Ad-Hoc network. The N7 sees the network, but is unable to connect. I have tried disabling all security on the Ad-Hoc network (no password), but it still does not connect.
Has anyone figured out how to get this working?

also wondering if it supports it, I cant even see ad-hoc. Might be something that we can mod onto the stock rom
Not supported. There is an ancient bug report for that:
https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=82
CM might include support:
http://www.thinktube.com/android-tech/46-android-wifi-ibss
Do you have a particular reason to use ad-hoc mode? The N7 can play access point just fine; your PC most likely as well.
There is this mod if you really need, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2163363, I personally think Google should add native support, is really not that hard, especially for Google

Here it works.
My neighbour gave me access, he is 100 meters away. My laptop has a real teck card with outside antenna and I rebroadcast the signal to my nexus 7 with connectify.
It works....
My home internet went out a couple weeks back and I used ad-hoc on DJLamontagneIII's CM10.2 Flo Kangs rom. It was a build from a couple weeks ago, but I'm sure it's fine on the new one.
There were no tricks, ad-hoc just showed up under Wi-Fi connections and I connected.
Good luck.
I do wireless tether from my lg optimus g to my tablet just fine. If I recall WiFi tether creates it using ad hoc, not infrastructure (unless you have a rare phone that supports it). It works just fine.

The Nexus 7 doesn't connect to adhoc connection unless. It connects only to infrustructure networks and this is with some other android devices. Rooted devices have a way of going around this though.
did anyone have a solution for the nexus 7 (2013)?. I cant find anything helpful at all regarding this.
I really need to connect to an ad-hoc connection
You need to be on window 7.
I think it s not working on xp.
what you are suggesting is just normal infrastructure hotspot.
I need to connect to an ad-hoc wifi connection , specifically to a symbian phone as a hotspot using Joikuspot.
anyone?

this thread seem like showing the solution for other tab, but not for nexus 7 (2013). can someone make it work for our tablet
I just flashed CM-FLO 4.3.1 and it doesn't work. The tablet is able to see the Ad-Hoc network I created with my Nokia E-72 (yes, I know it's old but it's my work phone).
It sees the network. I click on it and connect (network is open; no wep). It then says that it saved the connection but if I click on it again for it to connect it doesn't.
I've tested this with 2 different iPhone's and they are able to connect successfully and browse while connected to my Ad-Hoc. I verified connectivity because the mb up and down counter shows data traffic. I thought CyanogenMod would have it enabled by default. I guess not.

Intermittent WiFi Dropouts?

I got a Tab S 10.5 a few weeks ago as a replacement for my Nexus 10. Overall, I feel like the Tab S is head and shoulders above the Nexus - but I've had some strange issues. I've had the wifi signal intermittently stop responding - it seems to be more prevalent on my 5GHz network using 802.11ac speeds but I've experienced it at standard 2.4GHz connections as well.
I haven't rooted the tablet yet. I thought at first it might be my wireless network as I hadn't used any other devices that were 'ac' capable even though I have a pair of Netgear R6300V2 routers bridged across my home. However, these wifi signal dropouts persist only on the Tab S - if I turn wifi off, then back on, connectivity is restored. My Galaxy S4, Chromecast, PC, DVR, all stay online just fine.
Has anyone else had this issue? I got my Tab S with the Samsung Book Cover - which I love, but it almost seems like it happens when I hold the Tab a certain way.
Thanks for anyone who can give any feedback.

Did you connect your Tab S with your S4 through SideSync at one point?
Yes, I have used Sidesync. I disabled remote notifications, but occasionally still get a pop-up that remote notifications are enabled even if I haven't used sidesync in days.

I too suffered wifi drop-out and Bluetooth issues. Following this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-s/general/heads-sidesync-bt-wi-fi-bug-t2828911) I realized that there is a problem with SideSync. Even when not connected it sitll tries to communicate with the tablet and affects the wireless components. I removed Sidesync from my Note II and clear the data from SideSync on the tablet and for the past week I have not ahd any issue with Wifi or Bluetooth.
Thanks. Side Sync Sux.
Brilliant. Thanks. I was having a big problem with 2.4ghz wifi. I though there must have been some interference. 5g was fine. Tried chaining channel and all sorts. Would have thought it was my router but I have two with same prob just on 2.4ghz. It was happening to my phone and tablet, but then noticed only when the table was connected to wifi. Just disabled Side Sync and now the wifi is blazing.

Wifi cuts out when bluetooth is in use

Whenever I have both bluetooth enabled (and paired with any device) and wifi enabled, and I'm streaming music (Spotify in my case), after several minutes (almost randomly), the internet will stop working. Meaning, the WiFi icon will still show as connected, but it can't connect to anything online. I typically have to disable and re-enable WiFi for it to work, but then it would do the same thing again.
The strange thing is, my Galaxy S4 had the exact same issue/behavior. On both devices, I've seen this behavior regardless of the type of WiFi connection and/or bluetooth device (I've noticed it with my skullcandy headphones as well as my Sync in my car).
Do these devices share the same bluetooth/wireless chipset? Is it an Android thing? I'm forced to either use 4G with bluetooth, or WiFi with wired headphones. Thanks.
EDIT: this is using 5ghz Wifi.
What version of android are you on ?
carrier phone or unlocked. Some times these issues are carrier specific and non existent on others.
If you go into settings - wifi
Uncheck any option that says switch to data if wifi is unavailable.
I can confirm that this is an issue, I experience the same problem on my g4 818p

WiFi goes on 2.4ghz or 5ghz(most commonly on 2.4ghz) Bluetooth works on 2.4ghz. Unless you are 1m from router, BT is going to butcher your wlan. Had the same problem before. Solved it by buying dual band modem-router.
You could forcing different channel in wlan settings.
http://smallbusiness.chron.com/fix-bluetooth-wifi-interference-71008.html
idea here is reducing interference to bluetooth from competing sources.
- switch off wifi and use data which the OP is doing. Curious that the problems occur even at 5Ghz. Would have thought that band would be relatively immune to 2.4ghz sources.
- reduce the distance between bluetooth device and phone.
- move away from any sources of wifi interference if wanting to use bluetooth.
And now from the ppposite direction. Preventing bluetooth from interfering with wifi

Read the comments below. similar to the OP.
The key is more management of the problem rather than solution.

I'm using the Verizon variant.
this issue hunted me on all software version
Many options live
Router: Try another chanel
Router: Try only 2.4 or 5 Ghz
Router: Try only N or try only b/g/n mixed
App: Delete tunin radio
Last options send back service mainboard change.
i m facing the same problem but only when i do cellular call,
i am using realme wireless earphone , when i used to call my wifi speed gradually decrease , and after that stop working completely..,
after disconnecting the call i need to OFF and ON to work wifi again....,
My wife got the same issue with a Samsung A40 (and before with a Motorola), when using 2.4 wifi and Bluetooth connections (band and speaker for instance) the wifi is hanging. With wifi 5 it's ok. I don't have any issue with my phone using same network. It's crazy.

Huawei wifi issues

Hi I recently purchased a Huawei watch and it's amazing so far. Though it might not have its all of its functionality with my iPhone 6 it's still pretty good and was decently priced. My issue with it so far is that my wifi connection seems to be interfered whenever I have my watch connected through Bluetooth. I have noticed this since my internet service returns when I turn off the Bluetooth. I have tried factory resetting it on multiple occasion. I even updated my phone and the watch through the wifi router. The phone itself shows that there's a connection but no internet service is actually going through the phone or watch. I've tried looking around but most issues seems to be Bluetooth dropping versus internet service. I hope this can help others that have the same issue.
I have same problem (( I dont know what to do. Is not possible to update my watch even surfing on the internet. Wifi signal is full, but no internet service. In settings is not available Wi-Fi settings. If bluetooth is turned off my internet service works good. (iPhone 6 - iOS 9.3.3, Huawei Watch 1.4 (6.0.1)) What can I do please?
That is by design! Wi-Fi only works when it loses the Bluetooth connection. See this: https://support.google.com/androidwear/answer/6207505?hl=en
i have this issues in wear 2
