I need some help with this issue. I was upgrading my phone through kies going from 2.3.5 to 4.1.2 stock, when something happened and the install failed. When the phone boots up, it remains stuck on the Samsung logo, as I figured would happen. I am temporarily using this phone until the end of the year when I get a new phone. My old phone was the GS4G, and I have cyanogenmod 11 installed on it, so I am reletively familiar with installing custom roms, just not interested in doing it on this phone yet.
So.... anyways, I tried to get into download mode, with complete and total success. BUT.... ODIN will NOT recognize the phone. ODIN recognizes my wifes S4 and my old GS4G, no problem. I am able to get into recovery mode as well. And as you guessed it, another BUT....... it will not recognize the SD card so I can't install the zip file from there. The phone had no problems with reading the SD card until I attempted to update the phone, so I know its not the drive slot.
I am at a loss. The recovery mode only shows the files on the internal memory, so if theres a magical way to transfer from the SD card to the internal memory with download mode and recovery mode as being the only options, let me know. I have tried 3 different computers, 15 different installations of the USB drivers, and 6 different SD cards, so I know its not any of those. Also tried 3 different usb cables.
Please advise as I am at a total loss as to what to do. I always knew from my GS4G that if you could get into download mode, you were good. And even if you couldn't get odin to work on it, there were various java scripts that would find ways to work. I have not found any for this phone as of yet, but maybe I missed something.
Thanks for anyone that can help!!
Start with the simple stuff.
Odin won't work if kies is running at all. In fact, easiest thing to do is uninstall Kies . If you MUST have it... later reinstall it.
So get rid of Kies. Then try different Odin versions. 3.04 and 3.07.

Another thing is to somehow try another PC.
Thanks for the reply. I will give it a shot and see what happens. I will post results hpefully tomorrow. Just got done with work at the fire house and now lots of housework to do.

Firmware update failure via Kies
Hello everyone!
I was trying to update my SGSII GT-I9100 (Gingerbread) to ICS 4.0.4 via Kies. Kies worked well during the downloading part and then it got stuck with nill progress while installing. I had no other option than to disconnect. And now when I switch on the phone it says:
(mobile)--!--(PC)
"Firmware upgrade ecountered an issue. please select recovery mode in Kies & try again."
I connected the phone again and my desktop is not recognizing it anymore.
What I get from all this is that there is no Stock firmware or something like that and the phone can go into download mode only.
Can anyone help?

Just so you know as this is your first post I would like to say welcome now moving forward this issue is quite rampid on the web and honestly if you did a little searching you would of found a crap load of things to try. First thing I would tell you is since you can get into download mode is download Odin and flash stock firmware back on your phone. In your forum there has to be a restore to stock thread and this is what I would look for first
Whoa GT-I9000?
Totally diffrent device, and wrong forum. Your on your way to HARD Bricking your phone if you don't find the correct forum. Believe me I know from past Experiences .
@MickeyCobra
Is your computer recognizing your phone? If not try this things:
Uninstall Drivers
Connect phone to computer with phone in download mode, and let Windows Auto-Search the Drivers
Recovered finally

Yeah, I got it fixed via recovery mode in Kies. I would suggest never try Kies for upgrading firmware, as it gets disconnected in between !
Thanks

Recovered finally. Now I am having ICS 4.0.4 on my phone.
I had a similar issue with my T989. When I was flashing back to a stock rom through Odin, the connection between my phone and computer got disrupted. I received the error and was told to upgrade the firmware through Kies. I tried to reinstall the stock rom through Odin, and kept getting a failed installation. So I tried again and again and finally it went through. I prefer to keep away from Kies.
Hello guys
I just want to say i'm no where near an expert on this, and i feel i have tried to fix this issue but made it way worse in the process so please be gentle.
This morning i woke to my Samsung Note 2 N7100 just hanging on the samsung start up screen. Tried all the normal things, taking bat out, restarting many times etc. No luck, just kept hitting the samsung screen and freezing.
After some goggling i found my way to the Recovery screen (power+vol up+home) but when it was loading there was a lot of Red Error messages. It loaded the options screen and i tried to do a factory reset. A lot more error messages to basically then say failed. Tired it a few times and even tried to clear the cache but kept failing.
So i tried loading it into Kies, which didn't connect to the phone so i couldn't reinstall the software.
So i decided maybe i need to flash the phone. I downloaded a stock Rom for the phone (i was on Kitkat so found that version) Used odin and half way through the install it came up failed.
Since then the phone only displays the "Fireware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies"
So i went back to Kies but still couldn't find the phone. It also won't let me go back into recovery mode, only into download mode.
I thought maybe i'd give the flashing another go but this time when i flashed it, it just hangs trying to find Pit but eventually fails saying no Pit.
From research it appears that the partition is buggered. All the research i've done seems to say stay away from messing with the partition. some people say its Emmc thats gone and its game over but others say there is hope still.
I can still access the Download menu and the product name is still GTn7100, Binary still samsung official so i am holding out hope there is some life left in it. I'm on my last legs now so open to all offers for solutions. Please assist if you can
Thank you in advance
Andy
If you're able to get in download mode.. Maybe try flashing a custom recovery (TWRP) which you could try full format in it then install a ROM using it.. Also, maybe trying to use a CM based one? Though you might need a external SD card to move files from PC to your phone.
I don't know if this would work, but try it.
Sent from my Galaxy Note II using Tapatalk
I followed directions found online to unroot and restore the SIII to factory. Everything went fine I followed all the directions: downloaded the Stock ROM onto the phone along with Mobile Odin, Mobile Odin Flash Kernel and Triangle Away. Ran Triangle Away successfully then loaded the Stock Rom with Mobile Odin and even Flashed the Kernel without a hitch! Phone rebooted and I was presented with messages about the phone having to reboot to install updates, etc... I let it - the phone reboots and now ceases to turn on. Nothing works! I've tried pulling the battery, holding down the power button with and without the a battery, tried turning the device on while plugged in to wall - nothing!
I'm thinking maybe the main board got fried? If that's the case is all lost with this phone? I really do like this phone and would hate to lose it to such a dumb mistake especially when I was just trying to restore it to it's original state.
Any way to save this phone? Anyone else have had a similar problem and solution?
Thanks!
Never stock flash a Full Official ROM with mobile Odin, youre bootloader got corrupted and you'll need a 16gb class 10 sdcard to repair it, search this forum for the debrick image.
Official Stock can only be done PC Odin and Kies.

Or 32gb if you have that model
Hi, I'm trying to erase my old note ll to pass it along to a friend who's in need of an upgrade but have a problem, turn it on and it just forever stays stuck in the note 2. Have twrp 2.8.1.0 on it and when I tried to do a wipe of any kind or factory reset, I get fails of it being able to mount anything, tried doing a kies emergency firmware recovery and doesn't detect the phone, tried though Skipsoft unifide toolkit and same, cant get it to detect the phone to redo it. Tried though twrp with a rom but it can't see the 16gb card at all. Any help with possibly getting to work would be greatly appriciated, thanks!
So any updates if anyone might possibly know?
there are several solutions.
1.use odin to install a rom.
2.reinstall the recovery. i think there is something wrong with it.

Hello XDA,
Recently, a Samsung Captivate Glide was given to me to see if I could repair it. They told me the phone wouldn't turn on anymore, the screen remained black. Although they said they had just replaced the battery, I insisted that the battery was the problem. Upon hooking it up to a multimeter it became apparent that the battery was in deep sleep so I recovered it with a sliced USB cable. The phone then turned on to charge, but since I didn't feel like waiting for it to charge I inserted my S2 battery to boot it up.
Upon booting up the phone the Rogers screen came up (it's the Rogers model - sch-i927r), it adjust the brightness a bit and then proceeded to sit there forever. Since it wouldn't boot up I tried checking if Download Mode was still working. And it was! Same goes for the Android Recovery. Since this phone was never rooted or had a custom recovery it still had Gingerbread. Since the owner needed some files that were still on the phone I decided to flash TWRP, the CM11 compiled one, copy all the files to my PC and proceed to flash CM11 after making a backup.
However the phone refused to flash TWRP. I also tried CWM and going back to Stock but had no positive results. I even tried different Odin versions and different PCs. All of them gave out the same error that I have attached as a Picture. Upon googling it it seems like the storage is in read only mode, which I learnt from the Galaxy Tab 10.1 forums and also that the only solution would be to go back to Samsung.
Lastly I attempted to wipe from the built in recovery It asked for a password, however the original owner claimed he never had one. Upon forcing the flash by entering the wrong password the phone said it completed successfully but looking at the internal storage proves otherwise as all the files are still there. Trying to reboot to the system makes it either go to a black screen or corrupt the GPU memory (possibly - see attached pics.).
Looking around on the XDA forums I stumbled upon a thread by @steadfasterX which made a mod to boot the phone from an SD card. Since the eMMC of the phone is likely corrupt and causing this, could we use an SD card as the internal storage and boot up from there?
I am out of ideas. I don't have a backup of the EFS so I am being really cautious and fixing it wouldn't be worth it. So please help me! Any help is very much appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

you can not boot from sd card, you can use sd card as system partition, but you still need place kernel+ramdisk on internal flash.
You can try to replace bootloader

Thanks for the reply, I'll try updating the bootloader. Would it be risky though? I couldn't flash anything else and have no nandroid backup. Also, how would I go about using the SD Card as system?
EDIT: Risked it, flashed correctly but I still get the same error and I still have the Rogers bootloader. Any other ideas?

maybe check "phone bootloader update" on the left side, I think I didnt check when I did update, and it worked without checking.
First try this pack: http://dualhoki.vim.hu/bubor/dev/I927UCLG9_OneClick.exe
Try to repartition with pit file ( put pit file in pit box, no other files, and check re-partition)
You can find an alternative of odin http://glassechidna.com.au/heimdall/ . I remember there are many other options in heimdall, maybe you can find usefull error messages.

Hello,
Sorry for the late response. I got around to trying most of that. First off the PIT File was something that I was looking forward to since it seemed the most likely solution. However it didn't work, giving out a similar message as everything else. The OneClick also failed with a similar message. As for heimdall I couldn't get the drivers to work but even if I had it wouldn't have helped anymore most likely.
I am out of ideas. I highly doubt this phone is recoverable at this point.
Thank you for all the help so far!
Anyone got any other ideas? I think it's safe to call it dead at this point, but I am willing to try anything to fix it!
Thanks.
