So I've just started playing with Zooper and this is something has been an issue. With the layout I have now whenever the weather condition whenever it is thunderstorming outside (which is very often) it overlaps the word condition. So my question is: Is there any way to abbreviate thunderstorm to T-Storm?
Well that was actually easier to do than I thought. Just in case anyone else needs it here is what I did.
$#WCCOND#=thunderstorm?T-Storm:#WCCOND#$

Found this buried in a Google Search. Thank you. Any idea for how to do this for multiple codes? IE, T-Storms, Scattered T-Storms, Heavy Blizzard, etc.?

Thanks! I'm digging around a bit more with Zooper. Appreciate the information!

You just have to repeat the code for every weather condition you want to abbreviate.
I also think you don't need the last bit of the code, this should do the trick:
$#WCCOND#=thunderstorm?T-Storm$$#WCCOND#=scattered clouds?S-Clouds$

How is this code finished? I tried using what's listed and nothing displays. It needs to end by telling it to display the current condition if it's different then any of the conditions listed to abbreviate. Messing with it and can't figure out the right ending.

I have had this issue in a number of ROMs. I set my clock to +10 Hobart. Before long, it resets itself to Vladivostok. I dont really care, because it is the right time, but c'mon... of all the places.. Vladivostok? Sounds cool, I guess..
Yeah I had this too.
To fix just go into start, settings, phone, time zones and turn off automatic time zone.
Job done.

Thanks. Seems too easy. Shoulda found that one...

You are not the only one, try this!
I'm glad to have found a way to stop this from happening. Thanks for your advice. Question remains, though, why does it happen in the first place? I have noticed that a lot of these ROMs make no allowance for daylight savings time here in Aus, so that is one reason why automatic update would be handy to have turned on. Oh well, if thats the biggest issue I have....
Da, Comrade, I also have this problem.
I set my TZ to Brisbane, save, and then check again, and I am mysteriously teleported to Vladivostok again.
I think it is something to do with the way it reads the registry. It simply reads the hours past GMT (Brisbane and Vlad are both +10) instead of the next branch of the registry tree, giving the location.
Why it picks Vlad instead of Bris, I don't know - would have thought it went alphanumeric sort, but maybe it picks the last entry instead of the first.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
I am in Syd so it was really screwing with our daylight savings time, my mind and my Calendar entries. It only seemed to happen when I active sunk. Will see how it goes.
Oh, and thanks to google search for without it I would not have found this thread.
I notice that the forums don't load after I post... and that it doesn't update my thread views like normal... for instance it tells me a thread is new even though I have already seen it.
Anything change in the past couple weeks?

I get this sometimes. To Fix it:
Log out and clear all your cookies (even though log out tell's you they are all cleared). If you using Firefox 3, click the Icon to the left of the address bar, the click More Information, Security Tab, View Cookies, and remove any remaining.
Somethings have changed, but this problem occured before and after the changes for me.

I noticed I am not being sent to redirection pages... I think this is part of the issue... I will PM Flar
I sometimes get this. Often hitting refresh seems to fix the problem.
I'm getting the message on my Treo, something along the lines: 'a script causing device slow may become unresponsive'
Testing to see if I still get the white screen

Hrm, big bump in the road:
the thing causing the quick reply function not to work properly is a google ad. I removed it because I thought that it was an old, incorrectly working ad on the wrong location. But it turns out it's our ad hack that supplies us with 2/3's of our monthly income.
Now let me get this very straight: we are not in this to get rich, the current ad income is enough to keep xda-dev running but losing 2/3 to gain a correctly working quick reply function, will get us into serious money problems very soon.
So the only thing I can do at the moment is break the quick reply function and enable the ads, whilst searching feverishly for a better solution.
I'm well aware of vbulletin.org so I will be searching my ass of there, and try every possible solution they have, but untill the time comes where I've found a working ad solution, I hope you can all avoid the quick reply function.
I'm very sorry to have to make decision, but I hope you can all see that this the lesser of 2 problems.
Best regards,
Flar

Ditto to that LOL or for me I just forget that there is a problem and post and then hope that it really goes through and my long rant wasn't lost forever LOL
Hey guys I noticed this this morning while doing a calculation. I am using the stock calculator that came with my Droid Incredible. I've not done any rooting or anything like that. When I enter 365.2 - 358.8 I get the total of 6.3999999999 instead of 6.4 like I should.
Is anyone else getting such calculations?
I've not been able to reproduce this using any other combination of numbers, although occasionally it will produce a something like this: instead of saying 3.4 it will say 3.4000000000. It doesn't do it to every value, but occasionally.
Any thoughts?
Wow, that is just FREAKY!! Same thing on mine! Guess I shouldnt use it for math class huh!
It just has something to do with how computers calculate math. Almost all computers will have problems with some calculations, for example, if you go to Google.com and type in something like 1-.9999999 or 999999999999999-999999999999998 it will give you a wrong answer. But yeah, lol, I wouldn't use this phone on tests or homework unless you don't have anything else around.

Well for what it's worth, 6.3999999~ is the same thing as 6.4
That is true about the rounding. I was actually heavily tempted to remove the stock calculator if I found find a better version on the Market.
Oh, and just for comparison sake, the stock calculator on the Moto Droid displays it correctly as 6.4
RealCalc Scientific Calculator in the Market works great.. and it gives you that 6.4 you are looking for..
On a serious note, I use handy calc, it's really nice and can graph functions too
The stock calc apparently has no way to save to memory... Kind of weird even for a very basic calculator.
If it does via some weird keystroke, I have never figured it out.
Try doing a trig function on the calculator...
Its USELESS.
Well, if you've memorized radian conversions, you can possible use it, but, its like needing an abacus to use a calculator...not worth it.
Why they didn't set it to use DEGREES for angles is beyond me...and there doesn't appear to be an option of switching it either.
Any of you geniuses figure out a way to make it work, ....
...or is the phone's calculator just a fake feature, and I should just down load one that works?

Divide all results by zero.
LOL
That's tooooo funny. Makes you wonder if a simple calculator program can't do that math correctly, what else is going on behind the scenes.
Could this be a clue to the mysterious battery drainage problem under Android?
So here's what I got from HTC when I filed a ticket over it:
***********************
Dear Teesh,
Thank you for contacting us about this problem in the calculator application. I actually had one other email about this with another person several months ago, and what we determined was that it was an Android issue. I tested the math on one each of every Android phone we have and was able to recreate the issue. I also, when I was not at work, tested it with a friend's Android device that was not an HTC phone; same result. It appears to be something in the way that the base Android calculator is written; I sent the information up to the proper departments to see what could be done about it, but once the request goes up I don't get any direct response to it. I will again send up the information just in case; I remember posting on the code.google.com page about it when it happened, although I can't find that post now. Interestingly, if the remainder is greater than or equal to .5 it will show the correct answer. I apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced, and I hope that it is something resolved in the near future.
To send a reply to this message or let me know I have successfully answered your question log in to our ContactUs site using your email address and your ticket number 10USCW39ENA000982.
Sincerely,
Philip

Seems like for the last week or so the forum jump tab that was located at the bottom/right of the screen has gone missing. So now the only way to go to another subforum is to click at the home icon located at the top/left of the screen. Any reason this option was disabled, or is it just me?
Srsly? No one else has this missing?

Yup, we removed it because we found an opportunity to improve performance on the site. Turns out that little drop down include a TON of HTML calls.
Our impression was that few people used it. If it turns out that it is greatly missed, we'll bring it back, but we rather enjoy the slight boost in I/O performance.

Sucks that there isn't some way to to quick jump, or navigate back from the bottom of the page, to at least the last forum browsed. Apparently not many people do use quick jump because its not so much missed judging by the lack of traffic on the subject
Bummer hope they bring it back.
I always miss it when it's removed (I've seen it for the same reason on other forums), but I know it does make quite a load on the server.

I miss it. Forum jump was a great tool, saved time by not having to go to index to change sub forum.
So for everyone using Jellybean stock, there is a bug in the lock screen, it allows bypassing without a password.
Most notably, if your phone is locked with auto rotation on (auto rotation seems to make it easier to do this) and rotate your screen to landscape mode. Click on emergency dialer and then the contact button. Hit home and then immediately power. If done correctly you have full access to the phone when you hit power again.
Lookout has tried to address this bug; however, their "fix" actually makes it easier to break in. By foregrounding the contact list it removes some needed steps to attempt to break in again. It can take several attempts to get the timing down. Once you see the home screen mash the home button to suppress their fix.
Keep your devices close to you. This is an especially nasty bug.

Searching for "lock screen bug" doesn't show a thread on the first couple of pages, it doesn't appear to be sticky or even part of the recent posts, so let me ask, where is said post?
And does it contain the fact that Lookout doesn't work?

Lol... that's cos the thread above does not have tags mentioned in it. A search is optimized based on tags attached to it normally. Anyways, its cool cos your thread is in AT&T section while the other one was in International S3.

And I guess that answers your question as to why we needed another thread. The other threads are not easily found. I expect that this thread will end up in the heap with the rest of them.
When the title of a thread basically matches the search term, I'd expect it to show up, regardless of tags. Or am I expecting too much?
