So I ordered this from Amazon and it came from China...took awhile to get but it is a pretty cool option it you don't want to cover up that sandstone back! I have a link in the videos description (its an affiliate link). Hope you guys like it as much as I do

Larry,
A good simple review.
Quick question, if I may... Does the aluminium bumper effect the signal strength in any way?
Thanks!

I also ordered this bumper.
Do the screws stick out at all?

Using mine right now, just as poor without out it on (this is really my only complaint about this phone - overall poor reception compared with most other devices I've owned)

Nope, there is a little nub/lip they sit recessed in
Ordered one from ebay for $5.89 in red on Friday. Coming from California and will arrive Wednesday 8/20/14. Also shipping was free. They come in multiple colors.

Yes the aluminum bumper does cause a disruption with the signal. I bought one awhile ago and had to remove it.

Got my metal red case today from ebay and had a bent frame by power button. Emailed the seller and waiting to hear back. Look and fit are excellent w no signal loss.
Ian B
Bought a red aluminum bumper a week ago. At home, the phone's signal is 1-3 without it and 0-2 with it on.
Too bad I'm left handed. That corner sticking into my palm wouldn't be too comfy. Also don't like that the back doesn't stick out farther than the back of the sandstone back of the phone, but I guess that's due to the design of the phone with the back curving out from the side.
looking for a bumper like this http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Bump...me-for-Samsung-GALAXY-S5-G900/2000565014.html has found someone on our phone?
Anyone know of a number case like the aluminum one but made of rubber or tpu plastic? I want to still feel the sandstone on the back of the phone.

is the power button cut out so we can use the IR blaster?
Look for pictures - in short yes the IR is fine.
It does not cover the whole phone. Back and sides. Top has a small notch for headphones trimmed out and bottom is open.
Most of these type of cases will always be that way. I think the POETIC case apparently had this issue.
How do you design a case and knowing all the specs and you forget about the IR ?

aaaand... back on topic.
Nice case! I'm still hunting down the perfect case; meanwhile I've just ordered a cheap transparent case for about £3.
I'm tempted by the Nilkin, but the fact that it doesn't protect the top and bottom is a bit off-putting.
Something like the double-dip hard case would be great for me, but I'm just not keen on the colours they used.
I rather like the look of the Urban Armor Gear cases though. I just wish they had it in this colour.

The sides of the Nillkin are the smooth rubbery coating like you would find on the back of some of HTC's older phones (ie S710). The back is textured with a pattern, so it isn't the same feeling as the sides. I would say it's definitely less slippery than the phone naked.
Found this today: http://www.ebay.com/itm/OEM-Motorol...e_Replacement_Parts_Tools&hash=item25844f1e88
The seller also has a few other colors. No way to tell how good fitment is until somebody tries it. I kind of want the solid black to replace my woven black, but I'm not convinced I want it bad enough to spend over $20 for it.

Outer the ifixit teardown, the lens is adhered to the back. I guess the wait continues. Here's to hoping wood backs will be available in the aftermarket.

Well damn, wonder why the lens isn't on these replacement backs. I'd almost rather get a replacement one to take off the white one on my dev edition. White back gets dirty way to fast.
I wonder how difficult it would be to glue the lens protector from the original back into a new one...

It is easy to open. The back plate is flexible and is more rubber than plastic. I was able to get mine off with just my fingernails and pulling it slowly. The 'glue' is just a piece of double sided tape.

I wonder if any of these new backs will give hope to adding in wireless charging. I know some other devices you can add something like this http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00C3DKSRM but, looking at tear-downs of the phone, it doesn't appear that the Moto X has the leads that this normally connects to. Maybe someone else has better ideas than me.
I Highly doubt we'll see any wireless charging backs like what your talking about become available. It would just screw with the aesthetics of the phone too much.

Just curious as to how bulky it is, etc
it's pretty expensive
I don't have this, but initial observations, it doesn't look like the power button is translucent. It would hinder IR use.
IMO not a fan of flat back cases for the One. Love that curved back. Though the gap in this leaves room to hide money lol.

Since the case is coming all the way from Hong Kong and im in orlando florida it hasnt came in yet! but once i get it i will give my feedback and post up pictures!
Metal Case
So finally my metal case came in for my htc one and here are my thoughts:
Overall I love the case but it does make the phone a little bulky as you can see in the pictures
When it comes to reception as you can see in the pictures they place plastic bands where there are antennas on the phone so reception is not an issue. the only problem is that if you use the ir blaster alot then this case is no use to you because the case completely covers the ir blaster/power button. also the volume keys and the power button are hard to press. I dont know if thats just my case or all of them. Please keep in my that this case is coming from hong kong so in my situation I live in the Florida and I ordered my case Jan 13th and it finally got to my house Feb 4th, so please be patient if your going to order it!

i contemplating getting the huawei with steel link band(i dont like the look of the mesh band).
i was wondering how easily does the watch and steel link pick up scratches?
it would drive me crazy if it scratches easily.
Thanks
I have the black stainless steel both watch and band. Have been wearing the watch for almost couple months. I think it's holding up ok. Now that you asked, I took a close look at the band and I don't see anything that makes me go, WTH? So, in my book, that's a big pass
thanks for the reply
glad to hear it holds up.
now to decide between the black/black band or stainless w/ metal band.

It does. It stings for a minute. But what do you expect from stainless steel? The watch still shines obviously. But when you have a good eye site and pays attention to detail, why yes you can definitely tell. I'm not going to trip though if it gets really bad to the point it's not shiny then it's as simple as using something to take away the scratches and it'll go back to NEW. Unlike black, ones that scratches there goes the paint

Yes, you can see the wear and tear as well as minor nicks on the black. I use black sharpie to cover them up lol.

So far with my aftermarket band and stainless steal body I still do not have even micro scratches. Not that I am hoping for them but I did hit the bezel against some materials hard than I would have liked and there is no evidence of scratching.
I got the stailess steel one and its all scratched on the upper side . I gave up feeling bad about that, just accepted the fact that it gets scratched, still shiny but I can see the scratches.

It's stainless steel.. If you take it to a jeweler they can polish it and get most of the scratches out. I have a stainless steel Rolex and get it serviced every few years. It always goes in scratched to hell and comes back to me looking brand new pretty much.

Just received the Zizo bolt cover case. It looks nice but that is about it. I did a short Youtbe video and left a review on Amazon. I was going to leave it at that but the return/exchange policy was so bad I wanted to share this with you guys. Overall the case feels like cheap plastic. For the price I wasn't expecting much so that was not the reason for my return. The kickstand does not sit flush on my particular case. When the kickstand is closed only one side sits flush. I figured they would send me a prepaid label so I could return it in hopes that the replacement wouldn't have the same issue. The box itself came in a flimsy bag. the bag was intact but the box was torn. just a heads up guys!!!
One thing I want to mention is that I wish companies would make a standard and a premium case. All the 10 to $20 look and feel cheap. I am going to get a real leather case for it but I wish someone would make a rugged case made out of hard rubber/plastic and metal.

Maybe it was one bad case in the bunch. I have been playing with my kickstand to see if it goes in flush all the time and it does. I got the orange one. It is a nice color and case. The screen protector that came with it is pretty good too.
I figured it was just a faulty unit and figured they would have no problem replacing it. They are making new pay for return shipping and for a box to return it in. This is the video I shot to show the issues and the confirmation of the box damage.

Not well means that mine came out of the box defective. The kickstand does not lay flush with the case on my unit. I did an out the box video review that demonstrated the issue. As with ever product especially first production run there will be more QC issues. I just happened to get a defective until.
did you had yours replaced?

They made me pay for return shipping, tracking and a box to send it in. I am not going to risk that again.
i feel you man... hopefully new batches are all ok... but heck, you shouldn't pay a dime for the return coz of their mistake. tsk tsk
