I am using an LG G3 D851 for T-Mobile
Whenever I connect my phone to the PC, it shows the following in Device Manager
CDC Serial
LGE Android Phone
LGE Android Phone
I downloaded the "LGUnitedMobileDriver_S50MAN311AP22_ML_WHQL_Ver_3.11.3" file and LG PC Suite
I've also restarted my PC several times and turned of driver signing.
I also called LG Tech Support but they weren't any help. They said their website isn't updated and I need to wait for the "official" drivers to appear there.

I got it working in Windows 7. I'm having issues with Windows 8.1.
For Windows 7, download the drivers that I mentioned above and restart your PC. (Make sure your phone is not plugged in while you are installing the driver)
After your PC is fully loaded, plug your phone and that should do it. If it doesn't work then add the path to the driver in the ENVIRONMENT VARIABLES.
Just install LG PC Suite and do the update option under help then connect via USB and if it cannot find it, it'll ask if you want to re-install the USB drivers, do so and it'll work.
I've done the above on 8.1 and had no issues.
people still use a USB cable to connect their phones in 2014?
there are so many wireless solutions that work perfectly, why bother with USB cables?
I too am having the same issue. I have tried installing just the drivers and then installing LG PC suite. I have the same exact 3 devices listed:
CDC Serial
LGE Android Phone
LGE Android Phone
I also am on windows 8.1 update 1 (64 bit) and am very desperate to get this working so I can root my device. Any help would greatly be appreciated!

Hi guys,
I'm trying to connect to LG PC Suite but it wont see the phone, i don't know whether it has any thing to do with the connection setting. Because when i connect the phone and start up PC Suite it asks me to connect via the SUB option ''LG Software''. But i don't have this option, i only have 'Charge Phone, MTP or PTP options.
I have repeatedly tried the 'Install PC Programs' option from the phone but still no luck.
Any Ideas?
Make sure you have the correct LG Drivers installed on your computer:
http://www.mylgphones.com/download-and-install-the-usb-drivers-for-lg-g3-on-windows-and-mac.html
All drivers updated & Installed, PC Suite updated. Everything installed multiple times, different USB ports. Still no go. Any ideas?
Hi, i have problems with the pc suite on windows 8. I have installed the usb drivers and can access LG mobile support tool, and it recognices my phone, but the Pc suite wont. The Pc suite also "claims" that there is a updated Pc suite that i should install, but when i press the install button i get this message: Could not confirm update with updateserver". Am i retarded or what gives?
(reason for wanting to use the Pc suite is for loading pictures to my pc. I know there are other options, but just want to give it a try. Does anyone else got this problem?
I have reinstalled usb drivers, and reinstalled the PC suite but with no sucsess. Also when i connect the usb cable is is in (MPT) mode, and have tried the (PTP) mode as well.
Thanks for your imput :good:

+1, I have exactly the same problems, feeling a bit nuts too..... There is no special reason to have vorking pc suite, but if its there, it should work.

Yeah it is anoying as hell! for me! I will try to delete the PC suite and USB drivers and try to install it all over again. Will post back if i can fix it.
Okay i got it fixed. I unistalled Lg Suite, LG mobile support tool and usb drivers. I then connected the phone to my pc via USB so that the drivers would install. After that i went to my computer and found an Icon for the LG (not a musicplayer or a harddrive, but a Mobile phone Icon) pressed it and followed the instructions. Looks like a got a newer verson of the LG suite than the one on their official webpage. File was bigger (229MB, and the old file was 206MB) After installing this everything worked.
ps Sorry for the language :silly:
Nice to see u managed to fix it. I'm gonna try that also. Gonna report back.
It still amazes me that LG have not added anything for Mac users. If you have a Mac product and an LG device, well forget it!
The version of PC suite from the website is fine, you just need to allow it to update itself, if you have done the old flashtool hacks in the past your hosts file is likely blocking the pc suite from running the update which is why you are having problems.
Lennyuk, my hosts file is good, I removed everything related to LG including all usb drivers, connected phone to pc let it install new drivers and voila, LG suite works. ? Seems like foxtrott2's solution works ?
Hi Guys,
A weird one here for you, I'm already contemplating throwing my phone at a wall that's how long I've been trying to fix it.
I have a LG G3 D855 Gold 32gb model purchased via Kogan in Australia.
The unit is now on Android 5.0 (no updates available for 5.1+) - Software Version V20i-SEA-XX with Build number LRX21R.A1440645925.
This phone is non-rooted with stock ROM etc.
So the issue at hand, I upgraded my Win7 PC via the upgrade option to Win10 to retain my games/files etc.
Now when connecting the phone to the PC it only goes to charging mode and I am unable to click on it within the drop-down to change it to anything else.
I have tried LG G3 drivers, Googles generic drivers, ADB suite drivers. I am unable to adb find the phone, I do not have an Acer Composite device in Device Manager.
Win 10 keeps saying the device is not recognised/malfunctioned.
Tried different cords, double checked the connector on the phone for any dust specs etc.
My PC refuses to work with any driver I have thrown at it, however in each scenario with various drivers, warnings still persist in Device Manager.
Some of the drivers force the phone to connect/reconnect and cause the "ping" sound each time it disconnects and reconnects (with malfunction warning prompts).
This is on Win10 with 64bit Home edition.
I am at my wits end and can't think of anything I haven't tried beyond a factory reset of my phone (hoping not to at this stage as I'm thinking it's driver-related).
It won't let me tether or anything via USB also, same goes with USB debugging, no change.
Lastly which may also help narrow it down, with the phone plugged in BEFORE it gets to the OS, I can change between PTP/MTP and USB charge, however once the Win10 OS loads up, it disconnects/malfunctions and lists Charge Only.
And yes, this phone can connect on my Win7 small PC which I use for testing crap out on.
Any ideas guys?
Let me know if any log files or anything is required.
At this stage I am unable to do a root to the phone (due to adb issues etc) nor can I connect to the internal phone system unless I use in the in-built file explorer.
Edit: *SOLVED*
Ok so turns out the issue is, and this is just my case, my motherboard has various utilities, one of which is a USB 3.0 boost option.
When I did an upgrade to Windows 10, it somehow screwed up various programs on my PC including registry etc.
I reinstalled the particular utility (I was actually trying to fix my graphics clock etc so happy coincidence) which also re-installs the USB 3.0 Boost software which in turn has fixed my USB Ports.
So if you have a custom built PC (my Motherboard being a Rampage 4 Formula). Check the Mobo Utilities/Drivers for any conflicts.
I have the exact same problem, and I can't seem to find a solution for months now. It's really annoying and depressing

Using the drivers on that page you have advised gives the following.
Device Manager shows a Warning on it in USB controllers as "LGE Mobile USB Composite Device". It automatically "malfunctions" according to Windows 10 and I can't change the connection interface on the phone.
Going into the properties on that device in Device Manager lists the following;
This device cannot start. (Code 10)
A device which does not exist was specified.

Fixed my problem
I've had the same issue with my LG G3 in being unable to connect the device to my laptop. I'm not sure if the cause was a phone software update or the upgrade from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. Either way, I searched and fixed it tonight by installing updated drivers. Hope this helps others as well.
Hmmm, I cannot post the link! technobuzz dot net lg g3 drivers

Hi, I am needing some help. I connect my A5 to my laptop but a pop up from Win10 says that doesn't recognize the usb device. And continue saying that the last usb device connected didn't work correctly and windows didn't recognize it.
I think this happened after installing ADB and some other things like ZX3 to try to unlock my A5 and then uninstalled them, so perhaps I deleted some drivers in the process.
Can you suggest any solution for me to try?
Thanks in advance!!!!

Try connecting your device and then deleting its drivers in the device manager. After that reconnect it and it should show up as normal. Let me know if it helped
No, already tried that. Same message. Thanks!
I tried another usb port on my laptop, and recognize the phone. I don´t know we after some cel phone configurations I lost connection and recognition.
I tried again the first port and touch some items in the developers option, set the MTP protocol and now it seems working.
I stil don´t understand what I have to do to establish a good connection for every time I need it.
Regards.
Hi all. I'm back because I stll have the same problem. Can't connect A5 to laptop. The message says that there is a bad descriptor. It is the 43 error code from window 10. I tried downloading lastest Samsung drivers that comes in an .exe file and installed them. But same error.
Even trying to update the error driver to the lastest samsung usb driver, window says it already has the latest drivers and do not installed them.
Every suggestion from searching in google tried. Don't know what else can I do!!!!
Thanks for your suggestions!!!!!

SOLUTION!!!!!
I was using an old usb type-A cable with a usb type-a to type-c adapter. I tried using the original Samsung cable and it worked!!!!
I can believe this was the problem!!!
Hope I can help another with this! Thanks to all for your support!!!
Hi, I continue finding problems to connect A5 with Laptop. After finding the original problem was the cable, I now use always the original cable.
The problem is that the phone doesn't appear in windows explorer unless I go to developer options and set the USB configuration from RNDIS (Ethernet USB) to MTP (Media Transfer Protocol). After that, a pop-up appears asking for permission for data access. I have to agree with the pop up to see the phone in the laptop.
I think I have to change permissions to granted for ever the MTP. Am I right? Where do I have to set it?
Thanks in advance!!!!
New update!! I have just chat with Samsung. The told me to dial *#0808#. That access the USBSettings options. There I changed the default to MTP + ADB.
Now I no longer need to access the development options. It still appears the pop up, asking for permission, but for now I can live with that!!!
