[Q] Sound Menu - System Tab - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can anyone help with this.
The sound menu has the System tab containing Keypad Touch Tones, Touch Sounds, Screen Lock Sounds, Pull-to-Refresh Sounds, Vibrate on Touch. Some of these i need explanations for as they do not seem to work. My handset is not on Power Saving mode.
Touch Sounds - Plays sounds when making screen selection. .
Pull-to-Refresh sounds - Plays sounds when refreshing feeds and content.
Obviously the description the menu gives is self explanatory but i dont hear anything from these 2 options.
Eg. il swipe left to blinkfeed or go into the app drawer and no sound is heard. Isnt this meant to be the 'Touch Sound.'
If im scrolling through Blinkfeed and pull down to refresh shouldnt i hear a sound if 'Pull-to-Refresh Sound' is active.
NB. The other menu boxes work in sounds although 'Screen Lock Sounds' is practically inaudible but does work.
Am i missing something?
Again thanks for your time and any reply.

Audible selection volume, how do you adjust it?

Does anyone know how to change the volume of the audible selection tone? It's the one that makes a sound when ever you press something on the screen.
I swapped out the default one with the one from the Galaxy S, but it's so faint I can't hear it. I've tried adjusting all the setting with sound manager from the market but have had no luck...

Try: Settings>Sound>Volume - options are presented there.
Post back whether this gets you where you want/need to be.
Absent that, have you tried the volume rocker on the side of the device?
I've tried all the volume settings, nothing seems to make it louder...
Figured it out, apparently it's controlled by the 'Media volume'.
Sorry for bumping an old thread but this might help someone.
I'm running Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread, and had an extremely loud "audible selection" volume. The fix was so simple but I didn't realise it... I just went to Settings > Sounds > Volume and saw "Ringtone" and "Multimedia". Adjusting these did nothing. But I had to SCROLL DOWN the tiny little dialog box and there was revealed a "system sounds" slider!
Success!

Cant change default Notification sound??

I cant get my default notification sound to change - I can change the gmail new email sound to change from within the gmail settings but for pop email, sms etc the sound doesn't change no matter which sound I pick?
Am I doing something wrong?

Have a look at the guide below.

Personalizing with sound sets
Each sound set gives you a different combination of sounds for your ringtone and notifications such as incoming messages, email, calendar event reminders, and more. By switching between sound sets, you can instantly make HTC One X ring or alert you with fun sounds when you're out with friends or change to subtle sounds while you're at work.
Creating a sound set
Slide the Notifications panel open, and then tap > Personalize.
On the Sound tab, tap Sound set.
On the Sound sets screen, tap .
Enter a new sound set name, and then tap Done.
The newly created sound set is then added to the list of sound sets. You can assign different tones to the sound set to your preference.
Changing your ringtone, notifications, and sounds
Slide the Notifications panel open, and then tap > Personalize.
On the Sound tab, tap Sound set.
Choose a sound set you want to customize, or create a new one, and then tap Apply.
Change the ringtone, notification sound, and alarm from the Personalize screen.
HTC One X automatically saves your choices to the current sound set.
Deleting sound sets
Slide the Notifications panel open, and then tap > Personalize.
On the Sound tab, tap Sound set.
Tap .
Select one or more sound sets you want to delete.
Tap Delete.

I think the poster meant that regardless of which sound you set as notification sound, it will still use the default notification sound. Just to clarify, even though it wasn't necessary as I've owned an htc android phone before, I did read the guide as i was stumped too. I can select any custom sound for notifications, it just doesn't use it. It's different for email notifications though, that will use the sound I set without problems... Anyone have a fix? It was like this since it first came out of the box.

Sounds gone missing

Changed my default notification and ringtone sound to one that I downloaded. It plays fine when I select it in the Settings --> Sound --> Ringtone/Notification. However it does not play when I get a call or a TXT. And yes, my volume is up.
On a side note, I am so ticked that I cannot set the ringtone and notification volume levels independently!! I cant stand the wait for ROOT so we get some good ROMS

Maybe a dumb question, but have not installed any type of profile app right? I use profile apps so I can quickly change to different setups for night, meetings etc.
Well I do have Sound Manager installed. Since the ringtone and notifications is tied together right now, this app is mostly useless.
I did verify that sounds were turned up. Once I selected a sound that is included with the phone everything is fine. really a pain.

Touch/Shutter sounds

Hi,
I'm trying to work out if M8 had an issue or if it just the way they all work.
I don't seem to have any problem with the speakers, both seem to be working fine for music, and keypad tones on the dialer sound OK, but the "touch" sound when I press an icon on the home screen/ app drawer sounds like a barely audible piezo spark, and the camera shutter sounds like a louder version of the same.
Is this standard?
Thanks,
Dave
It's just like that

Is it really natural ?
I like to hear a sound when I use keyboard, tap on icons etc ... although all of my volumes are set to 100% but I barely can hear those sounds ( Touch Tone Sounds)!
Even dialer sound is not loud enough !
Keyboard is little bit better but not enough !
you all have the same problem or you can hear your touch sounds clearly ?
Same here

Same for me. wondering if there might be a way to change it or just turn those sounds off for the camera. It sounds broken.
Same for me ! Any help?
Same here. I also noticed that there is no setting for system volume under settings/sound/volume.

Mute all sounds and vibration in A70

In notification panel, the sound icon allows me 3 modes. 1 is default all sounds. 2nd is vibrant with some sounds and 3rd mute everything.
But when I chage to third mode i.e pressing sound icon 2nd time then playing any music, i can still get the sound i.e it is not actually muting the media sound.
This was not the case for my previous phone. With one touch, i was able to every thing.
Is there a way to mute all sounds with one touch widget? Or is this a bug with existing notification widget?
This has always been the case with Samsung phones. The mute mode turns off notifications/ringtones only. This comes in handy when people watch movies/videos or listen to music (which use media volume) and don't want to be interrupted by notification sounds.
