[Q] Stock ROM - Verizon HTC One (M7)

I installed CyanogenMod and I forgot to fix the GPS before flashing CM. All the posts I've read say that I need to flash back to a stock ROM to adjust the settings. I've looked for a stock ROM but there are so many choices and I'm not sure I'd choose the right one. Could anyone link me to a .zip file that I can flash and adjust my GPS settings? Thanks for your help.

Any of the four options should work. That is as stock as you can get besides doing an ruu

An RUU will reset the partitions though, which might be needed. Going from sense to aosp can cause some strange issues if you don't make sure all your phones functions are on in settings before flashing over. But.......flashing any sense rom "should" allow you to go back and turn on your gps and calibrate it, if not RUU it up.

Help on rooting back to stock rom

Hey guys, I am rooted and running Virtuous rom and I just wanted to know IF I ever wanted to go back to the stock G2 rom what would I have to do that? Thanks
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
two options:
1. If you were smart, you made a nandroid of your stock ROM the minute you confirmed the root procedure worked. If you did, simply use ROM Manager or boot into recovery, wipe everything, and restore that nandroid.
If you didn't....
2. Download one of the many stock ROMs in the development subforum, and flash that through ROM manager or recovery. Remember to wipe anytime you switch between ROMs (especially Sense-to-stock, or vice versa).
Is there any stock roms on rom manager that I can just do from there?
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
Nope, just Cyanogen and Virtuous. Just find a stock ROM that you want to use, download the .zip file, and put that on your memory card (don't unzip it, just drop the whole .zip file as-is). Then, in ROM Manager, choose 'Install Zip from SDcard' and navigate to wherever you put that zip file. ROM Manager will give you the option to wipe and to perform a backup of your current ROM before it flashes the new one - choose both options and let it run. super easy.
Alright thanks man

So it's not a stock ROM then ? If someone is looking for a stock ROM, then flashing a custom ROM isn't going to be what they need, surely ? Because they may well not want root either. Often folks ask for a stock ROM because they are doing a warranty return or similar. Or just want to go back completely to how it came from the factory.
That ROM that you linked has also got a modified RAM disk, and is zip-aligned. So it has several changes from a stock ROM.
If you're doing warranty work, that's close enough to stock. I don't thing you can 'unroot' your phone and go back to *totally* stock.

That's funny I never saw where he asked for a complete stock, unrooted rom for warranty purposes, guess you should give him the right link then since you seem to know what he REALLY wants. and from his second post by asking if he could find a stock rom on rom manager I would think since rom manager requires root to work, he might be looking for a stock rooted rom.
If you want to correct people please give the right awnser then, in this case give him what he's really looking for, as far as the link I provided it seems the only person not happy with the awnser is someone who didn't even ask the question, so keep up the good job "awnser police".
Just curious how much time did you spend researching that I am wrong instead of giving the OP what YOU THINK is the right link??? Time well spent.
But I guess it seems to happen, instead of awnsers we get posts trying to prove who's MORE right.
Well no hard feelings on my end, hope you have a great day, and happy posting.
@ XXMAGIC MANNXX Heres some more links you can check out from the HTC VISION Wiki, but be careful with these could have undesired effects,

[Q] GPS issues

new to rooting and flashing roms. there is onw problem I am having. When I flash a rom gps suddenly goes out the window, none of the indicators pop up in the notification bar, maps and navigation have a problem finding my location, and most of the time my phone doesn't know where I am. Now if I unroot back to stock everything goes back to normal which is weird to me but what I would like to ask the community is that, What can I do to fix this issue? Do I need to flash a fix or is there nothing I can do?
I'm sure you've already done this but you did go in to your location settings menu and checked the ones that apply? I haven't heard of this and it must not be a hardware issue if it works fine on stock..
that's what I thought... honestly I haven't tried all the roms (mostly just the stock roms) but I have flashed at least four, all with the same results. I would just keep it stock so I have a fully working phone but the only unrooted flash I know of is on the Unlockr site which will unroot it back to 2.1 and I don't know if I can live that far in the past
The other weird thing is in locations there is an option for location on and E911 . The E911 is checked on and it says that E911 cannot be checked off on any mobile device. Ask the other times it gives me an option. I am currently running Magnolia Final's latest version

Phone keeps rebooting.

Other than MikRunny's 3.5 ROM I can't get my phone to stop rebooting immediately after booting up. I was running sense 4a and after I turned my phone off once to reboot it, that was the last time. I have a back up of sense 4a so if I can fix this random reboot I can get back to where I left off. So can someone please help me?

Judging by a couple other posts I've seen by you, you're coming down from the latest VZW RUU that just recently got a proper way to s-off.
If this is the case it's a known issue with the 'downgrade' that sense roms give random reboots at the lockscreen. There are several threads both here and at rootzwiki talking about the issue.
Using a non-sense rom seems to be the only way on these phones at the moment. Perhaps in the future someone will figure it out but since it's an older phone they may not put in the effort.

But MikRunny's ROM is Sense? So how is that possible? And I've ran sense 4a but after I turn my phone off once, with either sense 4a or mikrunny, it reboots immediately at lockscreen. Someone told me to let it keep rebooting and eventually it start working in minutes, but I've let it sit and reboot like 20min and it still didn't work.
another ROM
I suggest trying Inc 2 HD... it's awesome.
But for your current problem, I guess you know to just hold the down volume key when you reboot into recovery?
It could very well be an issues because you have the latest firmware 6.****. All the current sense rom's are for 5.***. I'm just guessing, but maybe try flashing aero's cm9 and see if you get the same reboot. However you will need to flash the most current version of CWM. What version do you have?

Yes mikrunny is sense. As I said, sense roms are having issues with the new firmware.
You'll have to boot into recovery and flash a non sense rom (CM7, CM9, AOKP...).
I would first start by flashing the stock latest RUU..

Jayydude there is a lot of warnings about your version of software and downgrading right now. However to answer your question on verifying the MD5 sum if you go to the zip file in root explorer and then longpress the zip file choose properties and it will calculate your MD5 sums. Then verify they are the same as what the download posted. If not download again. The MD5 sums will be on the very bottom. It will calculate it for you. I also have a program on my computer at home that will verify it for you but I am at work now so dont remember what it is called. But root explorer will work fine I use it all the time to verify. Also I am sure you have seen it but make sure not to flash the RUU from China you will loose data and not be able to get it back.

[Q] Need Help Flashing a ROM

Hi guys, sorry if this is stupid. I've flashed ROMs to 3 or 4 phones before this one and didn't have any issues with them, but this time around it doesn't seem so easy. My phone is a virgin mobile galaxy s2 (d710)
My phone has been rooted for a while and my stock ROM started randomly freezing up on me 4-5 times/day, so I finally decided to flash a ROM. The stickied post says to use odin mobile to flash to GB - EL26 Stock w/ CWM then to flash the ROM I want. Any ROM I tried flashing gave a status 7 error and aborted, EXCEPT for one ROM, and on that one I didn't even have working 3G? I believe this thread implied doing it any other way would be a hard brick.
I finally ended up using samsung's official upgrade tool in download mode to flash back to stock ROM, but it would be nice to get a custom on now that I've put time into it.
Can anyone point me in the direction I need to go?
Thanks
EDIT: I'm currently on the 4.1.2 stock ROM
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=50070702
I'm guessing you're trying to flash a KitKat ROM? Using Mobile Odin and EL26CWM will work when flashing 4.2.2 (and under) ROMs, but not KitKat. You'll need the last Blasphemy 6.6 kernel (just for the updated ClockworkMod), located in Original Development, for that.
In your case, you'll probably want to flash FJ12 or FL26 (if you can find it) modem zips, as you're on Virgin Mobile, and those are ICS Virgin Mobile modems, which you'll need to have working data/internet on Any AOSP ROM (JB modems won't work).
And this guide is assuming you're completely stock JB firmware, not rooted.

It looks like I'm on GB28 stock. I think agats caused a soft brick. I'm reflashing back to stock again now....I don't know what's going on with this phone.
Edit: Retried, got it to work this time. Thanks.
Is there a reason why you have to flash one recovery just to move onto another one? Would any recovery work installing any ROM? I'm a bit confused by all these different recoveries, since my last phone only needed one.

On this device, recovery comes bundled with the kernel. When you flash a ROM or kernel, the recovery that was on gets overwritten by the recovery that comes with the ROM/kernel you're flashing.
The reason everybody started using EL26CWM (gingerbread kernel) was due to a bug in the stock ICS firmware that was causing some people's devices to be permanently bricked when doing a factory reset.
Status 7 error when flashing is usually due to using a recovery that's too old.
So to answer your question... No, there is no "be-all, end-all" recovery for this device. Sorry [emoji20]
Glad you got it working though

Thanks for the help. Now that I'm running CM11, I don't have visual voicemail and it looks like I can't receive MMS.
Serious props to the people that use custom ROMs that aren't driven insane by bugs, I'm irritated by it already.
Know of any fix?
I don't know about visual voicemail... I'm flashed to Cricket and just use the built-in voicemail statusbar notification. Have you tried pushing the apk manually? I'm pretty sure I've seen Virgin Mobile fixes here in the d710 forum.
As far as MMS goes, have you tried messing with the APN's? I don't think MMS will work as-flashed, out-of-the-box for you without modifying them for Virgin.
If you're getting annoyed by bugs, have you given stock, rooted deodexed GB28 a try? When i get the TouchWiz itch, I run deodexed GB28, along with Agat's 1.3 kernel, TD's AIO mod, and Missing Link mod (both found in Themes and Apps of this forum).
I'm currently running Slimbean build 7 (4.2.2) as it's super lightweight, stable, and has good battery-life.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk
Do you know where I could find the voicemail apk?
Also, where can I mess with the APNs/what would work there?
The only reason I want a custom ROM at all is to be on KitKat. It honestly disgusts me a bit that google hasn't standardized versions....I don't get why every phone needs it's own ROM and never gets updated....
Thanks man.
Edit: I did find a MMS fix and visual voicemail all in one zip, but flashing it screwed the phone and I had to restore in recovery.
As far as editing APN's, I use Nova Prime launcher to create a shortcut on my homescreen to access them. Create shortcut to Activities/Settings/APNs and make your edits there.
Have you tried extracting the contents of the zip and manually applying those changes? Sorry but I wouldn't know anything else about configuring for Virgin. Maybe you could ask in that respective ROM thread, as I'm sure there are Virgin Mobile users there that have everything working.

Just for clarification, if I want to flash a new ROM when I'm already on a custom, do I need to use odin mobile to flash back to that GB rom with CWM before I flash the recovery and new ROM? Or can I just wipe and flash new recovery from the one I have now?

If the new recovery you are talking about is safe to flash from...and the one you are currently using is safe to flash from...then you can just reboot recovery and wipe cache and dalvik, then flash new recovery and then reboot recovery. Now you will be on the new, safe, recovery. So do your wipes ( data, cache, dalvik cache and format system ) and flash the rom.
If you want to go the mobile odin way..in case the recovery you currently have cant flash the new recovery you need, in order to flash the rom of choice..which im assuming is kitkat. As it needs the most up to date recovery to flash properly.
Then i have a simple guide you can follow to flash a safe kernel/recovery, in which you can then flash the newer recovery for flashing the rom you have choosen.
Link to guide. Post 5 is what you need to read.
If this sounds complicated or confusing..please post a link to current rom you wish to install and i will read the op and point you down the correct path.

It honestly isn't too difficult at all. All I see in the zip is a new apns-conf.xml (permissions are rw-r-r), 2 build.prop edits, and the deleting of telephony.db located in /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases
