All,
I've had my phone for about a month now and LOVE IT. The only thing that somewhat bugs me is the knock code or sensitivity of the screen. I would hold the phone with just my thumb on the screen and it would turn on....I then purchased the quick circle case and the same thing, if my palm or thumb should be touching the screen it would turn on.
Is there a way to turn down the sensitivity or knock code a bit?
+1

Haven't expected something like this. But for me, the Knock Code seems to not been recognized sometimes. If I enter my code, the screen doesnt turn on sometimes.

Lol i think everybody has the opposite issue. Mine issue is that sometime i have to tap the knock code twice to wake the phone up. My lg needs more sensivitity
Lock Code Sensitivity
I find that its not the sensitivity but the speed. If I knock too fast then the code is not recognised so if I my knock code fails generally have to do it again but slower
+1 on each issue!
I hold my thumb on the screen and it turns on when I don't want it to..
When I actually try to put in my knock code, or even knock twice to wake up.. I have to try multiple times

Am i the only one who is having this issue? My phone wakes up while in the case due to the magnet. At first i thought that the sleep and awake button was getting hit when i pit it in the case, but even sitting the phone on top of the case still does it. Is there anyway to turn this feature off?
i am new to windows mobile so thanks in advance.

Apparently magnets in the case can turn the phone on, mine sometimes turns on but it seems only to do this if the magnet is passed over the bottom part of the screen where the hardware buttons are.
I haven't seen anyone coming up with a fix, I suppose it really depends if this is a feature or an accidental thing

Apache was the same way... I believe it actually uses a magnetic switch to detect when it's slid open. I discovered that I could use a magnet (the one in my case, no less) to rotate the screen.
Yeah, it's a pain.
I found this in the archive but i am not sure how to edit a registry (if im reading it correctly). Is anyone a bit more savvy than me thats willing to try what is discussed on this post?

The above post is the reg edit that I use every time I flash. Fixes the problem perfectly.
Mine was already 0
So that must not be the problem for mine

Never heard of someone wanting to disable the proximity sensor. You would think its probably tied into the auto brightness feature too. Possibly freezing a process with titanium backup? Im sure a dev would know which one.
Instead of doing that, have you considering modifying the case itself?

I woukd like to know the same thing. I cracked my screen on top of the sensor :/

Im curious about this light sensor my self. My girlfrinds ET4G turns its screen on right away during a call when she removes it from her ear. Mine how ever delays 3 seconds. Same with my phone powering on when i hit the power button. Any one know a fit?

Obviously im sure any dev would have the answer but i know calks Rom has some edits to proximity sensor so he could be one man to ask? Especially regarding delays

The delay when waking your phone probably has to due with using a microsd card, which has been well documented. I don't know if it's related to the light sensor during calls though.

How can that be true? Im running a class 10 and i still occasionally get a bit of lag when turning on screen
Sent from my oh-so-sexy Samsung!
Speed of card also has nothing to do with the issue. If you plug the phone w/ microsd mounted into the wall charger there will be no lag...unplug the phone from the charger and the screen wakeup lag will be present.
I love Knock on feature but after 4 days of active phone use I find it rather annoying!
I usually carry a phone either in a back pocket of my jeans or in a shirt's pocket.
So every time there is a little pressure on the screen it turns it self on and weird/random things start to happen to home screen.
I don't use password or swipe protection, so when I wake up the phone it immediately goes to a home screen.
The knock on sensor seems a bit underdeveloped. It needs to be less sensitive to non-finger pressure.
Basically after 4 days I gave up and disabled it.

I have the same problem, I disable Knock on unwillingly...
The quickcircle case prevents this issue (and looks pretty snazzy, too).
I suffer from this prolem too. The weird thing is, the first 3 Days with the phone, this problem was no problem...I don't know why, but since yesterday, it appears frequently...Maybe I wear other trousers? I don't know. The sensor on the front should prevent the phone from waking up while in the pocket, you can test iot working by cover the front sensors and then "knock on"...it won't work. That is exactly what should happen inside the pocket, but however, it does not work properly for me!
Just curious. How did you know the phone was on because of the knock on and not because the power button was accidentally depressed?

Hmm, I carry my phone in my jeans pocket all the time, and this is not a problem to me. Knock on never seems to trigger when I don't want to.
I have had no false starts from using knock on at all, I even tested with lots of different materials to see if it would work.
If it is causing you such problems why don't you use a knock code?

Just like these two guys, I have no issues with knock-on - if anything when I take it out of my pocket I have to triple tap sometimes to get it working.

With the huge risk that you lean on something and crack the screen? No thanks (not that I am having this issue anyway )
How do you turn it of?

It is a very risky workaround and i'm aware of that
but the thing is, even with any type of security the screen will turn on once it gets inside the pocket and it wouldnt turn off..
so theres definitely something wrong with the proximity sensor..
anyway i solved my problem by using the QC case.. and apart from this issue it's a great case overall
this happens to me too, but only with loose pockets. when i'm wearing my office attire, theres no issue. But when i'm in shorts during the weekend, it turns on by itself and it gets quite annoying. sometimes it'll open apps and start typing gibberish.

Dial 3845*#855# then scroll down and you will see a menu to disable it.
Substitute 855 with your model number if you have a different one.

Same! Never had a problem with knock-on on my G2 either!
When I first got my g3 unlocking the screen via knock code was easy. Now I have to do it about 2-3 times to unlock it. Any suggestions?
Same for me, it unusable for now.
Its make no sense if you must press 5 or 6 times to unlock the phone.
Its happens every time the phone is idle for some time, like is going into deep sleep and needs time to wake up.
The sensor calibrating makes no diference for me.
I am also having problems with knock on after a certain time of sleep for the phone. When knocked on within a few minutes of using it's responsive.
Sent from my LG-D850
I've noticed that if you wake up the phone via the power button first then enter the knock code it works. This sucks as knock code was one of the reasons I got the phone
All fine here, even after a long sleep and not on charge. Maybe your doing it too fast?
I think it also depends of the installed firmware. First firmwares had the problem phones unlocking themself in pockets, so lg lowered the sensibility in later firmwares.
On which firmware are you redeyss?
I'm on 10d on an 850. It's possible I'm going too fast and not in middle of screen when I whip it out of pocket.
Sent from my LG-D850
Haha no cause when I first got my phone I would do it fast and it would unlock with no problem. Maybe I should update my phone to the latest firmware?
I'm doing three knocks now (knock on not knock code), one to wake phone from sleep and two to knock on screen. I dunno, it's still better than using a button but annoying that it's not more reliable.

I am finding exactly the same thing. Didn't happen on my first G3 but is happening on my replacement.
Very annoying, specially when you want to brag about the feature to someone and it doesn't work first time.
I had the animations all set to 0 and thought that may affect things so set them to 0.5 with no change.
My phone is totally stock.
I notice when i lock the phone via the power button it "hard locks" and cant be woken with knock on?
but when you sleep it via double tap it always wakes for me via knock on.
Is this the same for you guys?

Its happen to me a few times where I wanted to show off and it made me look stupid ?
Mine is rooted and heavily debloated. Was like this from beginning tho. No pattern so sometimes in pocket for awhile and I would knock more than three times and it would turn on then back off, thus three knocks. Firmware update from at&t would be nice, or unlocked bootloader (crossing fingers)!!!

Working perfectly for me but you do have to make sure you don't have the top sensor covered for 1 second before you use it or anything close to it or it wont work but that I'm sure is obvious to everyone, how else would the phone know if it was in your pocket or not.
GTCC, are you saying that perhaps I am whipping it out of pocket and knocking so fast that the sensor hasn't caught up with the fact that phone is out of pocket?

No, not sure where you got that from.
I've been trying to give it a second between out of pocket and knocking, seems to help but not 100%.

I'm bumping this thread because the knock on fresh out of my pocket is intermittent and requires a second "knock knock" 80% of the time. It's really my only gripe with this phone and driving me crazy. D850 rooted, bumped, and tweaked with glass protector. Anybody else having this problem?
Sent from my LG-D850
Having same issue.
I'm having the same exact issue on my VS985. I've had the problem for some time now. I also noticed that it does help to wait 1 second after removing from pocket to allow the sensor time to activate. It would be nice to be able to remove this delay. Would be even better to find a complete solution of course.

I have the same setup.
Flashed cloudyG3 Rom and so far knock on is more responsive. Will report back in a few days.
Sometimes after some time I'm not using the phone knock on doesn't work. Today I noticed it didn't work whole time when on charger. I wake it up with back button and it worked normally. Then I put it on charger again and same thing happened. Is this normal or a problem ?
I'm running stock v20h.
Same problem here... Any solution? Anyone else has noted this?
In my case the problem was that the desk was over the phone so proximity sensor was turned on and didn't allow me to use knock on. It is probably made like this so it won't unlock by itself in pocket.
See if that is the problem. You can cover proximity sensor with your finger and try to use knock on to unlock.

No way... iti's still not working. While charging (plugged to the wall) I have to "wake it up" with the back button, nad then unlock with the knock-on code.
That wasn't my case. I can only advice you to backup your data and do a hard reset. If that doesn't help take it to the shop.

Finally, I realized that the problem occurs only while using a charger with less amperage than the original one.
