[Q] LG G3 D855 Battery - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My battery has lately been somewhat bad.. I am on 100% and getting an estimated 15-16h battery usage.. which i think is quite poor. it was on 100% and with just messaging for 5 minutes it has gone down to about 96%... just doesn't seem right at all. It was not like this a few days ago. Deleted all unwated apps. It is currently rooted.
Anything I can do or possibly flash on my device to help the battery life..
Thanks

That's really strange...
Mine stays at 100% for about 30minutes of on screen time with the original battery, then it starts to going down...
Try to calibrate the battery with an app called "Battery calibration" you can download it on play store.

I'll try that thanks
But yes very strange. It wasn't like that when I got it last week. I just hope they unlock the bootloader soon so we can start flashing kernels to hope for better battery life. For me anyway..

Hi, now that i have your attention!
I have cm7.2 democracy on my gio
I barely use it for wifi or gaming now because the battery is S**t.
I had 2.3.6 GB before and battery could take out 2 days on games and music. Now suddenly after switching to cm7.2 i need to charge it twice a day without using any app or game. just some texting like 10, 12.
I use ondemand governor and max freq is 806 min is 245
Also a couple of times i have seen that when my battery is at 30% and charge it then within 5-10 minutes it showed 100% charged. Unplug the charger.
Any suggestions or something on this? I really need an answer guys. Thanks
I can tell you that you can't charge your battery within 10 minutes.
Charge it at least 2 hours, 2.5.

Yeah! I will. Even if it says fully charged. IDK whats the problem with it. It drains so quickly.
Even if i charge it 2 hours even then i have to charge it twice a day.
I have the same problems. Some help?
I am having the same happening with my phone. I am looking into buying a new battery.

No one has found a solution 'till now?I'll try to use ODIN and go back to stock version, maybe that will help. Has anyone had those battery problems before using a custom ROM?with stock my battery used to last 2 days with games and music etc, now I can only use it for 5 hours without any games or music or internet. It also charges from 0 to 100% in 30 minutes , maybe less. I'm still hoping someone found a solution for this problem because it is useless to have a phone without any battery.
Try to get a new battery because huge draining problem is not caused by roms it caused by battery damage.my battery runs on stock rom over the 10days without using anything but on cm9/10 roms it drains faster but still runs more than 3days for me.
so no one got it?
Thank God I am not the only one here
But guys, I have been using stock GB for an year. Its been only a week on cm7.2 democracy and nightly.
Both have same battery issues and non of this happened in stock
It's not the battery issue.its something else. I'm sure
Have you tried going back to stock version using ODIN?I think that is the ultimate solution before sending my phone to service(I still have warranty).

Try to "recalibrate" your battery; in cwm theres an option "wipe battery stats". some say its nonsense, some say it really helps; i would give it a try.
No idea if theres an option with stock roms, though.....
I'm calibrating now...Will post the result in a while. (Tomorrow i guess)
I still couldn't solve this..I flashed the stock firmware with ODIN and still no luck, I'm starting to think it is a hardware problem, maybe I will send the phone to service now that I have the stock firmware back. Has anyone found any solution?
Hey, i found this article
For the users who like to try out new ROMs very often or by default Android receives updates to Android very often. These updates re constantly pushed to the users to provide the better experience to the users. For those who flash their mobile handset with custom ROM they are advised to charge their handset to 100 % battery life and then proceed with the upgrade processor. That is advised because if you have 50 % of battery life and proceed with firmware update, the new custom ROM will consider 50 % battery life as the full battery stats and this will provide half the battery life then earlier as specified by your phone manufacturer. In those cases you need to go with the battery calibration to gain 100 % battery backup as specified by your provider. There is complete procedure on how you will calibrate your phone battery is mentioned by us and if you would like to make the process very much easier then you can make use of a specially designed application which calibrates your battery. (Battery Calibration)
Okay so i flashed a new custom rom with 100% battery but no luck on battery issue. Its still draining the same.
then i calibrated my battery with this app with my battery at 100% which of course is 50% as said by this article, the app said "Your battery has been calibrated by 6%". Don't know what that means.
ANY HELP? DEVELOPERS PLEASE GUYS!
Try to calibrate it too.It may fix it.

I have the same issue, I am using CM10.1 RC0 by Olddroid but I think my problem is the charger. For the last month I charged my Gio using the usb connection from PC. Now, if I use the charger the battery drains faster than charging with the usb connection method. I am gonna buy a 1500 mAh battery and hope to solve this problem.

Battery Issues

I started running into some battery issues earlier today. I was on AOKP without any issues and one day the battery just started draining very fast. I went from about 50% to 15% in a matter of an hour. That night I slept with my phone charging and it did to get charged passd 54%. And it's charging very slow too. I thought it might be the ROM so I flashed Slim Bean. But it is not heling at all.
Anyone have anything similar going on?
What can I do?
Try calibrating the battery and go like 2-3 charge to discharge and see what its like afterwards

Will do. I'll post back
Yea it takes a few rundowns to get into the sweet spot, I thought I was getting horrible battery life till someone suggested that to me now I get about 32-33 hrs on a charge. Which I think is about prefect, I don't game on it I just use everything else all the time. I have ps3, xbox360 & psp for gaming
Sent from my SGH-I747M using xda premium
Well it's been charging for about 6 hours now and it won't get past 54%
I let it charge all night and when I woke up it was finally at 100%. I left for class and unplugged my phone at 7:40. 20 minutes later it was down to 47%. Then another 2 hours later, it was at 11%. Obviously it is draining far too fast. Will AT&T replace my battery? Or does it look like I'm gonna have to buy a new one?
What I normally do is charge it to 100% then boot into recovery and wipe battery stats. Reboot and don't unplug the phone until it again says that the battery is full. Then run with it and see if it helps.
Go ask them I don't see why they wouldn't replace the battery, it does sound like its shot that kind of drain isn't normal at all
Sent from my SGH-I747M using xda premium
I had the same issues with not getting to 100%. Seems like leaving it on the charger for another couple hours (overnight) got it there.
So I went to the AT&T service shop yesterday and she took my battery and put it in a different Galaxy S III and it showed the battery was charged 97%. In my phone, it showed 23%. She told me that it had somthing to do with my phone being rooted. She said the software on my phone was being "tricked" into believing that the battery is a lot less full than it actually is. She told me to unroot my phone and flash it back to stock. So I did that yesterday and it is still no better. I don't know what to try.
Wiping battery stats doesn't help battery life... Something i learned a long time ago with my X10

Thought I'd try installing CM10 just to see if there would be any difference. Screen Brightness shows up as my highest percentage on the battery usage and Android System is much lower on the list, but the battery is still not charging or discharging correctly.

I would unroot and take everything back to stock, then go back to the AT&T store you went to before and show another service rep that the phone is messed up and see if they give you another one.
Good luck

mrb1946,
Even though your S3 is reporting percentage values as you stated....the PHYSICAL battery did not drain from a real 100% to a real 47% in 20 minutes. It can't actually physically drain that fast. It would be on FIRE! So, either the calibration of the rom/software or the battery itself somehow messed up.
Also, during that time...was the battery/S3 HOT? That physical evidence would account for some of the drain if it's coming from a rogue app or misbehaving rom component. Did you post a battery drain graph? And were you monitoring the cpu activity during these high drain periods? I mean...periodic checks to see if your CPU is stuck on HIGH freq and if you have any wakelocks shown under the battery graph.
If this problem is still occurring, here's a thread explaining a possible drain from android system. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1827087&highlight=android+system

[Q] Short battery life

I've had my Galaxy W for just over a year. Whilst I was running the stock ROM I would more or less get a full day out of the battery. I upgraded rooted my device and installed the Cyanogen CM9 rc2 ROM. I don't recall any battery problems at first, but just over a week ago it started draining within five or six hours. This happened every day for a week.
Since then I have uninstaleld all apps (apart from Google Authenticator which I couldn't manage without), turned off wifi, bluetooth and everything else I could think of. Now I seem to be getting about 36 hours out of the battery... Although I think it goes from 35% down to 10% very, very quickly.
Leaving all data connections off and having no apps is okay in the short term, but is there a long term software solution?

Not immediately, but about a week later. Is it worth going through that process again?
Edit:
This is the app that I used:

Before I uninstalled any apps I downloaded and installed CPU Spy. Here are two screenshots taken with CPU spy.
I could reinstall it now without any other apps installed, if that will help?
I don't know enough about this, but I expected that the phone would spend a higher percentage of it's time in 'deep sleep' than that.

Interesting.. how about you check on the battery is it bloating or not?
For battery problem is either the phone calibrated wrong readings on the battery or the battery it self is the problem.
If you use your phone not too often but the deep sleep only reach 34% of the time then some apps is preventing the deep sleep, try to check what apps is that causes that with some battery stats app, try search it in xda or market

I've gone for Battery Stats Plus. I'll reenable wifi, bluetooth and 3G for a few days and see what happens. If that takes a toll on the battery I will post back with details from Battery Stats Plus.
I will also take the battery out later to inspect it.
Update:
My battery had 15-20% remaining and I turned it off, and tried to turn it back on. It now thinks that it does not have enough power to boot the phone. I don't know if that new information is helpful or not.

With 15 - 20% it should have boot, because it still have juice left. What about your battery physics? Is it bloating or just normal?

Took the battery out this morning for a proper look. There's definitely some bloating. Time to get looking for a replacement battery?
Could there be two issues here? As from the screenshots I posted the phone doesn't seem to have spent a lot of time in deep sleep.
I was just watching a YouTube video, with about 70% battery. The phone turned off, and when I've turned it back on it's gone down to 2%.
Could this be down to an improperly calibrated battery, or is it purely down to the physical damage/bloating to the battery?

I'm going to install Battery Calibration by Nema from Google Play. I'll see how I get on with that.
I'm going to order a replacement battery this week. I'm looking for a direct replacement, with an official Samsung battery. I have posted here in the Accessories forum. I hope that was the right place to put it.
After I install the CM10 alpha 6 conform to the first post, the battery life of my cellphone has been drained very fast - 21% about 6 hours and half.
Can anyone help me, please? I already did the battery calibration and I can't see effects. I'm wondering if is better install CM 9 or just go back to the android 2.3.6 factory version of my cellphone.

Your battery is bloated? Then you *must* replace it. Period.
A damaged battery is the root cause of myriads of problems. Until that battery is replaced, you _will_ experience all kinds of annoyances, no matter what ROM/Kernel you're using, including inexplicable battery drain.

battery problems

My girlfriend has a GS3 love the phone but it has a serious battery drain. It doesn't matter if its a stock or custom rom. It is running stock 4.3 right now and the battery has gone from 100 to 83 in 3 hours. with 30 min screen time. I thought it was the battery so i got another Samsung battery and its not ant better. I tried to search but it seem the search funtion is not working because it gives me nothing no matter what I search for. Any sugestions would be great.

2nd updating from 4.3 from 4.1.2 has a big change to the phone how it works etc and by that the phone takes time to adjust to 4.3 thus getting bad battery drains, a week or two or a month and the battery will be as good as ever

Get battery saver or juice defender this are two apps I have used to monitor my battery usage and they recommend to charge the phone to 100% and that will change as to how fast your battery dies
Letting the phone die and charging results to bad battery life while recharging phone at a timely manner increases battery life
Also note that GPS/WiFi/data/screen drains battery like crazy so fix those and you will notice a big difference

Optimus G Pro E980 Battery

hi. i just got my new phone E980. its the AT&T model. the batter is so ambiguous man... like i got the phone just yesterday, started checking out the phone and the battery was like 23%.
after LITERALLY like 10 mins the battery went to like 12%... i was like WOOOOT.....
i discharged the phone completely and then took out the battery and discharged any remaining power from phone as its recommended.
then i charged the phone to full and started using again like paystore apps downloading.
as i checked the battery from setting the idle was using like 3rd most battery in the list after screen and android OS.
what is this man??? isnt it supposed to be a phablet? is it ok for my phone to be this worst at battery. this is first ever non-Samsung phone and i m used to good battery life where idle does not take freaking 3rd most of the battery... WTF... im kinda disappointed
also can someone tell me and pls like me here any good roms and how to root this phone and also tell me which roms provide good battery life?
i will be so thankful for these links...
smiler what happened to me :\
now i need to wait for new battery to arrive
EDIT:
small tip
its might help the sudden restarting if changing the processor speed to 1ghz max
I've solve the same Issue by using an Ipad Charger because the 3140Mah battery need a 2 Ampere charger.
First day my F240L drain full battery in 3 hours, the 100% charge was fake by charging with Galaxy S3 charger (I got Phone Used without Charger), the phone show 100% charge but the value was fake.
Try a charger with 2 Ampere Output.
This metod is working with ipad charger and Galaxy Tab 3 charger.
I hope that my Hint work for you.
Now my battery works very well. yesterday i disconnect phone at 8.30 am and at the 23.30 the charge was 47%, with mid-heavy use and wifi turned on all the day.
Plus 1!

Sorry that's all I got but you will see in the first screen shot during the 3 days the phone was powered on and off charge, the screen used 35% of the battery. I have had 2 previous phones, TMO GS2 and ATT Note1 and never had the battery last longer than around 24-26 hours on any ROM under similar circumstances. That is with notifications enabled and data and Wifi active but Bluetooth off.
2nd screenshot shows phone was sleeping (offline) 95% of the time so if my calculation is correct, on screen time would calculate out at 4394 minutes * (100-95.4) % = 202 minutes or around 3.3 hours during the 3 days I was using it (little more than 1 hour a day). Assuming the screen was on whenever the phone was online.
You just need to press Screen to see screen time
