I've been working on getting USB OTG / fast-charging working on my tablet, but now I can't get my tablet to transfer any data. Nothing when I hook it to the PC, ADB doesn't see it, if I put it in recovery mode it still doesn't see it.
I'm wondering if messing with the USB OTG/power killed my microusb port? I can still charge, just not get data. Anything I can try? I am using a certain car-based kernel, I was gonna restore to the stock kernel but would that be the issue if it doesn't even see it in recovery?
Damn, I have the same issue as yours! And I never even rooted my device! I only managed to connect to PC one day during which I flashed Android L, but now USB doesn't work again!
If the drivers are installed and it still not getting recognised at all, I thing the port that is used for charging/usb connection is damaged. It's cheap to replace one(1-2 dollars or euros), just get it to a service

My wife has a TP2 and it connects fine...

wtf...
anyone else with this problem?
PS... NRGZ28 had posted a very basic rom for booting to android back in Feb and it is now gone from hotfile. Anyone know of a quick boot into android?
- Try a different computer
- Try a hard reset
That are the first thing you should do.

Reboot your PC? lol bet your tried that already...
Try this:
settings > connections > usb to pc > and disable Faster Data Sync then try. This way uses the generic usb drivers and maybe it will connect.
That did not work...
How do I get my Win7 laptop to see the phone with Android on it?

dont think thats working yet
Ya I don't think that works yet, it's tied to Android software drivers and the use of the USB port, since there is no drivers to control the port only to charge battery. Windows thinks there is something there, but the phones USB can't communicate back....I think this is the issue or at lease after playing around with it on my phone anyway
Not that it's a huge amount of help but might troubleshoot down to the hardware level...if you go into bootloader mode on the phone and connect to USB does it connect?
I don't think you should go that deep and dirty. My touch pro 2 works only with only 1 (non-HTC) cable of the 10 i have at home, all are the "standard" mini-USB but only one works flawlessly for communicating/flashing/syncing, the other cables either do the same error - device not recognized - or windows says that the device could communicate faster - and only copies files slowly.
All in all: you should simply check with another USB cable or if you have the factory HTC cable try it with that. I noticed that the cable i am using other than the HTC one is a very good quality thick (low-resistance and double-shielded) USB cable and it never failed on me.
One other thing you should definitely watch for: plug the USB cable into the motherboard USB port directly (on the back of the PC where you plug the keyboard, mouse etc.), sometimes PC cases with front panel USB outputs simply die, or are wrongly attached to the motherboard USB header and it can cause the aforementioned problems too, not to mention if it is wrongly attached it could harm your phone too.
I used to be able to plug my phone into my PC and slide down the notifications to enable a USB connection but I'm unable to anymore.
I checked that debug is on. I've even tried via the Wifi Settings USB Connection method. The phone will charge but is not seen by the PC. I've tried other PCs and other cables. It doesn;t show up in Device manager and I've also tried the windows drivers for the phone.
The only thing that has changed in the past month or so is that I replaced my Clockwork Recovery module with the stock recovery module and my phone is no longer rooted. Any ideas anyone?

Just enable USB storage before plugging in
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using Tapatalk 2
Like I said I tried the Mass Storage connection method via the menu in Wifi Settings. The onscreen instructions say to enable then to plug in. Still get nothing.
Try reinstalling the driver that might do the trick. I am having the same issue but I am running the unofficial cm9.. good luck to us both and is it the same cable u always been using cause I bought 2$ cable off eBay it only charges no USB connection
Sent From Galaxy Bigger Than Yours.
I tried to re-install drivers and I'm using a known working cable - the one that came with the phone.
It really is strange. The only thing that has happened recently is my phone was rooted with Clockwork Recovery and then I reverted back to stock.
I'll see what happens after the ICS update comes from Telus next month, I guess.
Not a big deal as I can use AirDroid to transfer stuff over wifi.
Since rebooted a couple times now everything is working. I also had a problem with the lock screen rotating and phone defaulting to speakerphone. everything is back to normal now but i wish i knew what caused it.
Hello guys, just gonna state my problem and ask a few questions.
So, here it is. If I connect my phone to pc/laptop nothing happens, no notifs appear on my phone neither mtp or mass storage. But, when I connect my phone through electricity socket it charges up. Oh, another thing sometimes when I connect my phone to pc/laptop ports it charges up but still no connection to storage/or phone. This just happened last night after from my hospital duty and got home and tried to flash fxp128(love this work) and my phone wont be recognized at all.
So, I've searched up google not that deep but, I found some issues just like mine. Some said its a the laptop problem just need a restart, change cables, remove battery, try in different computer/laptop and etc cases like those. Alreadt tried everthing of those but non seems to work. So, i think my phone hardware(the usb port in my phone) is really the problem. My questions are:
It is repairable?
The repair fee costly or not?
Will this thing will likely come up again?(low chance/high chance of getting this problem again.)
PS: I remember that while on the hospital(free time) i tried to open the rom manager but it fc's when i try launching it.(everytime)
- and my 8gb type 4 sd is broken even through card reader it cant be read. ( dont know what caused this) so i change to class 2 4gb my spare card.
Hope you answer me guys, thank you!
tbh. your phone worked perfectly, and after flashing fxp128 you get problems and directly assume your phone is broken Instead of going back to stock and figure out if it really is.
Usb connection problem could also be caused by not having the com.sonyericsson.usbux "systemapp" or other things.

how can i go back to stock if my phone cant be detected in my computer? can't even go for fastboot and flashmode.
Did you make a NaNdroid back up with CWM? That would be your best bet at this point.

Did have a nandroid backup but on fxp 127. Tried to use it but still no luck. Any suggestions/ideas?
If you're using windows, try to uninstall the portable device at device manager window, while the usb is attached to your phone. Then disconnect the phone after you've uninstalled. After that reconnect it once more and see to it that the drivers are installed properly. It's usually USB mass storage or MTP USB device storage.
I've been running CyanogenMod 10.2 on my rooted HTC One for a good long while now. Since the ROM worked so well, I never had the need to connect the phone to a computer via USB in quite some time. A few months ago, when I attempted to transfer some photos, I ran into a weird and frustrating road block; my phone is simply not being recognized by any computer <see here>
I have updated all drivers
I have enabled debugging in Developer Options
I have tried rebooting Fastboot in bootloader
I have tried using the toolkits
I have tried everything I think I know
The weird part is that the phone charges via USB connected to the computer.
Since it didn't effect much, I just figured it was a glitch and I never ran into a problem again--that is, until today. I hadn't used my MHL adapter with the HTC One (only my GNexus), but after reviewing an intended installation of a Pioneer Appradio, I wanted to ensure that my One would work with the MHL. Hooking up my One to the Samsung MHL adapter (and power supply of course), I get no display on my television.
I am now beginning to wonder if the USB port is damaged. Visual inspection doesn't reveal anything, but I am curious if anyone has had this problem and would appreciate any help. Is there any way to test if I've fouled up the port?
Does the phone recognize that it is connected to a pc? Can you access the phones storage from your pc?

No and no
I installed Flashify and did install CWM 6.0.4.7 to see if it would help, but to no avail
Have you tried adb with a different rom or stock via ruu? If it still dosent work then, either your usb port or your cable is messed up.

I have tried adb, but the device never is recognized.
I'm currenty transferring my TWRP backup via WiFi.
I planned on switching to CM11 and see if I can't get it to work after that.
I was trying to transfer some files to my phone through a USB cable today, but the phone was not recognized by the PC at all (Even though it was working a week or so ago). I had some issues before with the cable needing to be still in a certain position or it would disconnect from the PC, so I tried using another USB cable which didn't work either (I tested both USB cables with another device, and both cables were working and the other device was recognized by the PC).
I also updated the USB drivers on my PC with the official drivers on the ASUS support page, and tried putting my phone in fastboot and recovery mode, but both were still not being recognized by my computer. My phone still charges properly, but I am wondering if the USB port got damaged somehow so that it can't connect to a PC anymore?

uninstall and reinstall the drivers. Ensure that phone is not connected during the process.
also have you upgraded your pc os ? if yes then its a little cumbersome to get the same working...
i changed from stock to cm, it is showing well now ... using RR now
Is your phone encrypted? If so you need to unlock in order for your pc to recognize it.
Thank you both of you for the help, unfortunately, my phone was not encrypted so there was no need to unlock in order for it to be detected. Uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers didn't work, and my PC was already on windows 10 since a few months ago. I would also prefer sticking to the stock ROM for this phone for now since they keep coming out with updates.
In addition, I tried using a USB OTG cable to see if the phone could detect the USB drive and my phone couldn't (it has worked before, and my old Galaxy Nexus could still detect it). I also tried plugging my dualshock 3 into the phone, and it also couldn't be detected (also had worked before).
It looks like it's actually a hardware issue and my only option is to RMA it now. I'll have to do it at a time when I don't need my phone as much or when I am not as busy.
PS: In case anyone else has this issue in the future, quick charging also no longer works
zenfone2 I also experienced that, and I have tried several ways, but remains unchanged. I was dizzy today :crying:
