I think you need to flash back to stock use the phone. Test it. Do some speed test and screenshots. Then root. Watch the videos make it easy for your self. Then test again. Your speed test should be close.
Backup your Lte configs in system/app/ to your external sdcard , and delete them. (This fixed a lot lte issues on my D855 G3 that i had) reboot and check your connection, if it doesnt improve put them back in /system/app. (Worth a try. Good luck) also check your apn settings and LTE Only settings in secret menu.
Check your data usage. Tmobile said I was having a tower maintenanced nearby. It was going on for three weeks til I called and said I wanted a bill credit. The next day all speeds were back up, even getting 50mps down at times.

Someone please help. I've been up and down forums looking for the answer.
I've flashed cm9, aokp, Calkulin's, and quite a few more and now with the official release of ICS for e4gt, the STOCK ROM for it as well.
I've also flashed numerous modems (more than half of what is out there now) and to no avail im getting .16Mb DL and .38Mb UL.
It makes the phone nearly unusable on 3g/4g, yet wifi works perfectly.
I've updated Profile AND PRL, I've done a clean wipe, cache partition, and dalvik. I've pretty much followed every rule there is about rooting and ROMs carefully.
I need some major help or at least someone tell me that I'm doomed with GB for the rest of my phones existence, I really need an answer because its driving me nuts.
All help is beyond greatly appreciated.

I'm sorry if I sound redundant, but have you tried flashing the FF18 Modem? That's the one that just went OTA.

indeed i have. i am currently running the new OTA stock, equip with FF18.
I was on a custom TSM_Revamped so i had to force the update. i did not receive the OTA automatically, if that matters.
I had the same issues with Ics. I reverted back to GB roms for my speeds. All I can say is wait a bit and see if some devs push out re worked kernels for the ics since source is out and about. I had best luck with the ff11 modem. But when I updated the profile and prl it became worse. So keep your head high. and hopefully the awesome devs do some magic for the kernals

I'll come back to post and I'll let I you know if I come across some worthy mentions
I have been having issues with 4G after upgrading to FF18 and was wondering if you could give me any insight...
Two friends of mine and myself all have the E4GT and have upgraded to FF18 using the One-Click Factory Reset package.
Pretty much what happens is that when I connect to 4G, my upload speeds are now around 150kbps down and 1500kbps up, when they used to hit around 5000kbps up and 1500kbps down. We are all having the same issue and live in NYC.
I've reverted back to EK02 using your One-Click, ran speedtests again and everything worked fine. I then let the OTA of EL29 install and 4G also works fine on that one. I then tried installing FF18 again and 4G speeds were back at 100-150kbps. I've tried the FF18 rooted, FF18 stock, and tried just using the recovery to run the update package from my SDCard while on stock EL29 and they all yield the same result.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance for all of your help!

That's what i had thought at first but i heard the same from people in DC as well as a few other big cities. However the problem isn't consistent and appears to be few and far between with the users having this problem (or they're just not commenting). No one has a definitive answer yet. I'm in the "wait and see" stage since the official ICS has dropped for the e4gt and hope that someone fixes the problem along the line.
ICS is just too pretty not to have lol. If i hear or do anything that fixes the problem, i'll be sure to post it up.
p.s. data speeds are decent in Manhattan though but still not "4g" even thought it shows the bars. It's better but not top speeds.
Sorry I couldn't be much help

It wouldn't have mattered. If you stood on FD19 the 4g would had crapped out on you sooner or later. I started off good I had perfectly working 4g on every ICS builds even on FF 18. It just crapped out on me out of nowhere. Reverting to an older ICS leak does not fix it. Only gingerbread will fix it..

In case anyone in here hasn't heard, there are some new leaks, which fix the 4G issue. I'm on FI03 right now. Check it out here and give props to the devs!
These are leaks btw, so you will need to flash your odin skills.
Wondering what you're experiences are with LTE. I've gotten blindingly fast speeds when I get an LTE connection--50mbps but for the week that I've had the S3 that's only happened about 2 or 3 times.
Telus tech support said nothing as far as whether this is normal or not, wondering what others are experiencing. Normal or not?
Figured it out I think. Had the phone rooted and seemed to have lost the ability to toggle connections. Flashed back to stock last night and have had LTE back consistently.

I was able to get mid to upper 40 Mbps in New West late at night once. It lasted all the way till the Ikea beside Hwy 1. The download speed was so fast that I thought my Speedtest.net app wasn't showing the whole download animation.
Other than that I don't go into LTE areas much. This will probably change in the Fall as the roll out continues. I live on the border of the roll out and where I work is not covered yet but should be soon (Surrey).
When you went back to stock are you still rooted? Some ROMs do not support the LTE switch because they are based on AT&T ROMs.
I've been using Task's AOKP ROM since it has the LTE switch enabled (read the OP) even though he doesn't officially support it. It works great.
KyanROM's LTE switch also works since it is based on Rogers S3 ROM.
Haha, I know what you mean with the Speedtest animation!
I'm currently stock and unrooted now. I still haven't tried a custom rom yet since I'm still a little paranoid about losing my iemi number unfortunately. However the rooting method I used was the nontripping root method which as far as I can tell uses the stock carrier rom then injects an exploit. Soooo who knows, maybe I'll look into it again as may have overlooked something.

Ah yes, the IMEI fear. I totally get you on this. I waited about 3 weeks before rooting and then another couple weeks until flashing a ROM. And this is coming from flashing the crap out of my HTC Hero for the last 2.5 years. I HIGHLY recommend going to these 2 threads and backing up your IMEI number in case anything goes wrong in the future. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1801997 and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1804117
If you decide to root, install the TWRP recovery. It was observed that people who used TWP over CWM hardly had any IMEI issues, if any at all. Jury's still out on this though. Take it with a grain of salt. I've flashed numerous times and have not had any issues. TWRP can be installed by way of https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.s0up.goomanager&hl=en - you need root to run this.
So I reflashed the rooted rom last night and haven't experienced the LTE problem again, I'm happy with that for now.
What the consensus with Task's AOKP, I took a look at the "known issues" list and it just looks a little to long for me at the moment. After flashing my S1 typically several times a week, I think I'm really just longing for some stability. That and my family misses me.

Well, i was on the same boat where I was afraid of losing the IMEI. But it's not a problem any more. Those devs here have it all figured out pretty much. You can back up your IMEI before you messing with your S3
As soon as I use stock based roms - whether it's based on Rogers or AT&T roms, the LTE connection is pretty solid within the coverage. However, the AOSP based roms are not very friendly with canadian LTE.... I constantly go back and forth from H+ to 4G on CM10.. The battery life is kinda sucked... The one of two reasons I have to come back with stock roms....
Oh, btw, I believe 40 - 45ish mbps speed is pretty normal on LTE as long as you hold a good connection.

I think I'm just gonna wait till the devs have things nicely smoothed out for now.
I remember back in the olden days (couple weeks ago) when a guy lost his IMEI he'd just replace his efs folder with a backup, reboot and voila! So easy, so simple...
Well, I've read about the links to backing up the IMEI files and QPST tool to backup, and have now figured out how to use ABD finally to push cwm to my phone. So, I'm wondering if you guys have any new roms you're liking in particular or can recommend.
I know Task's AOKP is a popular one and I've been kicking around CM10 and have been eyeing Slimbean since I spent alot of time with that one on my S1.
Any recent flashes you guys are big on at the moment that you care to tell me about?

I've been rocking WanamLite 1.3 the last few days and it is very good. It is based on the latest release for the I747M for Canadian carriers which is VLALH1 I think. This is an ICS Sammy based ROM. I have ktoonsez's latest kernel installed and it is very nice overall. (Note, I do have the latest modem installed - the one that came with VLALH1, not that it has anything to do with ROM performance.) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1782732
The ROM before that was Slimbean. Since you've used it before you're probably more familiar with it than I. I found it to be nice too. Close to what Task's AOKP ROM is. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1865262

Try the T999UVLI6 baseband... seems to be the best for a lot of people.
They say I should have a decent signal at my house, but due to terrain and tree coverage I have no signal.
However, I knew that when I switched back to T - Mobile so I had planned on using the wifi calling feature at home which solves the problem.

Just erase the cache. You don't have to do anything else. I don't even think I erased my cache to be honest. Radio images are firmware-related, not software-related so it shouldn't really make a difference.

Most likely after flashing AT&T modem you will end up with a soft brick
at worst or you will not be able to make and receive calls at best.
There is a good reason why none of the devs include any modem images in
their custom roms.
I would suggest not to flash any modems/radios.
If you soft brick your phone or you cannot make/receive calls the only way
to get the phone up and running is to odin flash the official stock rom which
you can find at http://SamMobile.com/
Just make sure before downloading the firmware that it's the correct model
number and baseband of the original firmware that the phone came with.
Good luck!

Curious to learn more about this. Can you use a signal widget or other app to get some comparison readings? Might be hard to do since I imagine you don't want to go back to the T-Mobile modem. I'd just like to see how much of a gain there really is (if any). Maybe I'll try it myself.

Yup, Dont want to go back after this flash... But I am now consistently seeing an improved signal in bars.. I did not record the deccibels before.. ( should have done that). But I am not seeing any huge jumps in speeds..

Well I tried flashing it with the phone hooked up to the computer in download mode with Odin and it looked like it was installing but then at the very end it would fail. Phone didn't boot loop or anything it booted right up after the fail. I put the modem file in the correct CSC bin in Odin also. Is there something else I must add or check a box thats not checked in order for it to pass the install?

No but that's what it shows in the ATT extracted files thread so I figured that's where it went? Wonder if I should try it in the AP bin? I could care less if I soft brick the phone, its a hard brick I'm worried about.
I am sick of Lollipop on my Note 4. It has terrible battery life, my wifi doesnt connect unless I turn it off and back on. I have already tried clearing the cache, doing a battery pull, removing sim and SD card to no avail. I just want to go back to the way things were.
How do I go back to the factory image before Lollipop? I have looked and saw some threads mention odin, but nothing with a concrete tutorial. I dont want to brick the thing as I just sold my old phone and burnt my upgrade on the Note 4. The model number is SM-N910V. It is not the dev edition.
Only way to get back to KK 4.4.4 is to d/l the full firmware tar for the Note 4 retail and flash it with Odin 3.0.9.

The battery drain isnt my gripe. Even on my phone all day using it for my job I still have 30% left at the end of the day and never start the day off with a full charge. The wifi issue is. I have 6Gb on Verizon between 2 accounts. 15 days into the cycle I had used 75% of my data due to my phone randomly disconnecting from Wifi. In the past we have never used more than 2Gb of our 6 combined.

Ooh forgot to put that in I feel you she complains about the same wifi issue for some reason she's the one on my account that always uses the least data we have 15gb and lately she's been dropping her wifi also and using anywhere between 5 to 6gb a month when she usually only use 1 to 2

Pretty much step by step Make sure to block OTAs afterwards or it will automatically take the update.

Did it myself:good: He basically just took someone else's steps and added a little more detail to it, seen here.
Cant just go by the "Thanks" to tell you if people have used it or not
Once Im back on KK, how do I disable OTA? Im guessing there is an Android service that runs that needs to be stopped.

Awesome. Thanks. Im back on KitKat and OTA updates are disabled, atleast until I start to hear better things about LP.

Sweet! Same here. I probably will hold out until the next OTA. Hopefully it will be at least 5.1 with several fixes:fingers-crossed:

If you do decide to try LP again you may want to try a factory data reset (i.e., Settings, Backup and reset, Factory data reset) before taking the OTA to LP and do another factory data reset after taking the OTA to LP. That's how I upgraded from KK to the current LP 5.0.1 and I'm not experiencing any of the problems reported by others. I get good battery life and have no problems with dropped WiFi.
The thing that sucks is that you shouldn't have to do all of that, just to take an update. You shouldn't have to set up your phone again.
Missing root.

Agreed, but this seems to be the situation that we face with the current upgrade process. It is a pain, but not all that bad, and probably required if you want to run LP anytime in the near future.
