[Mod] Use InternalSD as ExternalSD & vice versa

Only one person asked for this, in the General forum.
Original Topic: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1772234
Here it is for our device...
it SHOULD work for both any kernel, just need a ROM with init.d support & insecure adb
Just flash in recovery
Download:
For exFat
Code:

For fat32
Code:

Has anyone used this yet? Does it work?
Will this fix my issue where my nandroid backups are being saved to the internal sd isntead of the external micro sd card?

Nope. this is just during boot. Recovery images need to modified to do what you are talking about. This is a great mod though if you are tight on space and want to use your sd card more.

I might need this just so an app like appinstaller can recognize my micro sd card to install some apps I have backed up there. This will work?

Move apps to external SD card

Hello.
Is there a app that moves the data to the external SD card?
I tried App2SD, and it didnt work!
I emailed the creator, and i got a replay:
http://android.a0soft.com/?url=App2SD.htm
I cannot find the "Move to xxx" button from application detailed information window.
Moving app to SD is handled by Android. App 2 SD app only provides an UI for you to manage it. Currently, Android only supports the primary external storage for App 2 SD. If the device does not have a real primary external storage or the primary external storage is emulated from the internal phone storage. Moving app to SD function will not be supported by Android system. It's the limitation of hardware. Please get more information from device manufacture.

I do have rooted my Note 2, so maybe another program can do the trick?
You can not move your applications to external sdcard.
Two workarounds (need root)
1.google for bind directory (tested on s3 and had problems)
2.swap your int sdcard with ext scdard.thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1931500 (also needs custom kernel)

Actially there is one way.
You need root.
Download titanium backup pro, and you can move ALL user apps to sd card. :good:
Yea... but what SD card... i want the external one, not the small 16 gb one.
Newest edition of Spotify does not allow us to choose what SD card we store the music on.
Total failure.
Testing Bind Directory now.

Is it really that simple? I mean have you tried it, and do the games play properly without lag? If someone can confirm this you'll make my day. I have had bought titanium pro since my old GS2 days.
Titanium backup pro can really move the apps to SD for note 2? I have tried moving about 30 apps including some big size games and I don't see any different in my phone storage after moving....

From what I've read about the S3, no. That's why I was skeptical. From what I've read, you either have to use directory binder or install a mod which changes the internal storage with the sd card.

So, there is no way to do it? I really dont understand why you have an external SD that you cant used for apps or even storing Titanium backups to the EXTERNAL SD. This, as well as not being able to connect to my Hidden WAP is just about the straw that drives me back to the IPHONE. At least I know I can connect to my corporate Wifi and if I get 64gb then I truely have 64gb. Someone please ease my pain.
I think the only option for now is to use directory bind until someone made and app2sd which work for note 2 platform.

Was reading this thread and thought I'd let you know that you can choose the directory in which Titanium Backup uses to store your backups. in the backup folder location, in the preferences for Titanium Backup.
I've been having issues with directory bind. I'm going to get a larger sd card and use the swap method. I like the Note 2 to much to want to return it
Seriously people directory bind is very easy to use, just once, set the mnt/extSdCard/android/data directory from your external sd as the source, and storage/android/data as the target path.. then manually move the desired app data to the sd card folder, easy

I would really like to know this, too!!
I've partitioned my SD (30 GB Fat32 & 2 GB ext2) but there is still no "move2sd" within Titanium.
I also can't find this new partition within my "File Expert" (rooted)
Can some1 please help me??
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.buak.Link2SD
i think you cant create ext2 partition on your external sd. Dont try that on your phone, do it with a sd card reader and pc. Then install this app (link2sd), give permission, choose ext2, reboot, and LİNK your apps to sd. Dont (also you cant) move apps. Just link... Works perfectly on my international n7100.

4.4.4 ROM and SD card

Is there any 4.4.4 ROM for S4 Mini that can manage SD card by default ?
I mean thge possibility to move app in the SD card
Tks
I'm having problem moving apps to ext SD card as well. I tried different app to SD, like 5 different ones and they all state I can't move apps to ext SD.
This is a serious issue. Please help!

U need to install this app from play store. ::: https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...e.fmount&hl=en
When u start the app for the 1st time and grant root access it prompts to fix a storage related issue. Choose yes. Then u can move parts of apps onto sd card.
But if u want to move large games... then u need to install xposed framework and ObbOnSD module. Here is a video on XDA-TV that will help you...

SD card not beng recognized

I'm running Vision X rom and I just tried using SanDisk 32 and 64 GB cards and neither one is being recognized in the phone. Neither my music app (PlayerPro) not ES File Explorer sees the card when I insert it. I have tried formatting the card as FAT32, exFAT and NTFS. Still no luck.
Does any one has any suggestion?

Thanks for the info. I just tried it and still nothing :'(
I've tried all possible fixes including changing the ROM but still nothing. I'm beginning to think that the card slot itself might be faulty as I've never tried it before. Is it possible to check for that? If so, how? I've already tried two different cards and no luck.

Tried the above mentioned procedure and reflashed Vision X rom but still no luck. What brand card did you use? I'm using SanDisk Ultra (32 and 64).
I also flashed the zip that Misterjunky mentioned earlier but still the same :crying:
Edit:Just test the card in wife's S3 and it picked up the card instantly. So it is definitely not the card. Either my card read messed up or there is something else wrong.

In setting it does not even see the SD card. It says 'insert SD".
Edit: I just flashed TWRP recovery and it has option for micro SD but when I try to mount it nothing happens either. So I'm leaning towards the fact that the card reader might be toast :'(

Yep, card works perfectly fine in Windows and under two different cameras (with adapter).
I just cleared everything again and flashed Gummy ASOP rom, still no SD card :'(. The last thing to do is to order a new microSD card and try it out but at this point I have little hope of it working.

Agreed. KitKat permissions don't affect different file sizes, so it must be something else.
Folks often assume its the KK permissions issue whenever they encounter any SD issues. But in fact, a reformat will usually fix the issue.
Try to reformat by PC/computer, or I've seen folks have success with a 3rd party formatting app on the phone. Oddly, I've seen the native formatting app on some devices seems to be less successful than any of the other methods just mentioned.
EDIT: Forgot what forum section I was in, and started referring to my M8 phone. Last paragraph edited to make more sense.
Thanks for the info guys. This card works faultlessly when plugged into a laptop. Is it still possible that a reformat will work? Also, I assume ntfs is acceptable.

I believe you need a custom kernel with NTFS support for that, you could also try using Paragon, I'm only using exFat or ext4.

I've seen this type of stuff a lot, where the card works on other devices, but not on the Android device in question. So I'd say a reformat is still in order. I've only used exFAT or FAT32, either of which should work fine.

Odd. Try another ROM, or see if its a known issue on CM11?
Or try to format FAT32? Shouldn't make a difference, exFAT is pretty commonplace and compatible with devices these days. But its worth a try.
