Performance benchmark before and after root bloat removal? - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'd like to see benchmark performance results of phones stock out of the box and after debloating with root. There tons of posts about perceived performance but no real data.

If no one has done it by the time I get home around 8 eastern time, I'll do it. Performance seems a little better, but for me was the battery life improvement

Here you go, I saved everyone the time. I just visited a well known benchmark site and conducted three tests for you.
Stock - 31,137
All bloat removed - 30,389 (This was lower than I was expecting)
All bloat and Google apps removed - 37,991 (Not a bad score)
The site is easy to use, I just set the lower limit as 30,000 and the upper as 39,000. It produced three benchmark scores for me. I didn't even need to turn my phone on.
Remember, like all benchmarking, YMMV.

Surprising Results.

I did it. Out of the box was 33000 and after root and flash sphinx rom got 30500 on antutu. Phone still smooth so i don't worry about it.

On Dalvik:
Antutu: 35000
Quadrant: 25000
On ART:
Antutu: 27000
Quadrant: 12700
Disappointed with the performance under ART!
Anyone knows why the discrepancy?

hod does people get this high score in benchmark

i have htc deire slcd s-off with hebmiui datatext and class 10 sd card and 1113 oc
when i do anTuTu benchmark i get 2600 points and the first place on htc desire benchmark has 6513 points how did they do it and wich rom and kernel did they use and how you can to preform gpu oc (sorry for mt bad english)
Oh go home!

That crazy Slovak spammer is right 98.57% of the time. How rough he is is proportional to the stupidity of the post in question. Then again, how could you come and ask for some common courtesy, when you have granted none?

These quadrant scores are totally overrated, IMHO. I would just take care wether the rom you are using runs smooth or not. If it does, there is no reason to check quadrant.

It does reflect on gaming performance though.. e.g. Worms lags on the latest runnymede but works awesome on CM7.. not saying it's a bad ROM, it's quite the opposite, probably one of the best (if not the best) Sense 3 rom out there

That's what I mean. Why check quadrant, if you can test yourself if it works well for your needs or not? I only play AngryBirds Rio, and it runs perfectly on dGB. So why should I give someting on my phone's quadrant score?
Besides, people using DATA2SD get a (very) unrealistic quadrant score because this script distorts the results. So the reflection on gaming perfomance would also be distorted. Nevertheless, I am pretty sure you are right in most cases.

Wtf..

Just got my new note 2 the other day. Yesterday every quadrant benchmark I was getting 6200 and now tonight every time I'm getting 5800, something 5500. So wtf?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk 2
U probably installed some apps that are slowing it down. Try clearing cache and run test again.
Sent from the TermiNOTEr 2!
no 2 devices are identical, same thing goes for just about everything you buy even cars. Some cars and phones have a average, but then there are those that are factory freaks and put up numbers that make people doubt there own devices, and of course the opposite it true too, some dont meet up to the average.
You cant trust benchmarks anyways. Mine just put up 5782, do i care? no, why? because i feel no lag ever. It is plenty fast and the difference in quadrant wouldnt make much of a difference anyways. Also quadrant can be all over the place and vary 500-1000 points between each test.
I'm having issues connecting to my wifi. Do you think that could be slowing it down? No joke yesterday I was getting 6000 and up every time. I haven't installed any new apps or anything.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk 2
Here's my antutu score. I think it's a way better benchmark than quadrant. Quadrant is always different and antutu is usually the same.

you will get lower score when cpu is hot.try running quadrant when u awake phone up after 30min or more.u should get more then 6000
If your phone is running day to day stuff the same, then I wouldn't stress about losing a few hundred points on quadrant.

You're so right. I just woke up and my phone has been asleep all night. I ran quadrant 5x and every time it scored 6,000-6,200

I have never run a single benchmark on any of my phones. And by looking at this thread, I'm very thankful for that

I posted a reply to a similar query in another thread a few days ago. You must make sure you have the "Power saving" toggle set to OFF if you want to maximize any benchmark results (especially CPU/GPU benchmarks). It is highly likely you have activated the Power saving mode since you first ran the "faster" Quadrant test. The difference in results you are seeing is almost exactly what you would expect with the performance changes caused by having Power saving mode active.
Settings->Power saving (make sure toggle is OFF)
The best thing to do is not worry about benchmarks so much. Possibly use it as a gauge on whether you got a performance increase if you did something to the phone, but even then, I've had phones run lower quadrants on a certain ROM, but still be overall smoother/better.

[Q] Quadrant Benchmark

I noticed alot of people on the forums posting benchmarks after installing different ROM. I decided to download Quadrant just to see what I was pulling. I scored low in comparison to what I've seen, so I just completely wiped my phone back to stock (data wiped and then ODIN) and tried it, and pulled a 4678. Flashed CleanROM SE 1.2, and it went up to 4706. I've seen some people between 5k and 7k. A few videos I watched, people claiming to be completely stock were getting 5600+. Any clue what's wrong here? Is there anyone else out there that is stock that can benchmark and tell me what they get?
Thanks in Advance,
emoti0n
Read through the benchmark threads and you'll come to understand a few things:
- benchmarks are useless as an ongoing measurement. They merely show capability potential.
- your benchmarks will vary not only based on the rom and kernel, but what other apps you have running as services, what specific device configuration you have set at the time of running.
Does your phone perform amazingly doing what you want it to do? That's the only relevant and important measurement.

I would love to help you, but help yourself first: ask a better question

Right. I understand what you're saying and that software environment can change the results, but two out-of-box state phones should score somewhat close to each other, yes or no? In comparison to what I've seen, my CPU is where I'm lacking. I also understand that I can OC and hit higher scores, but just comparing it to other phones that claim to out-of-box / stock - I'm scoring low in comparison.
Spy is probably right. But benchmarks should be somewhat similar
This is running DAGr8's AOKP Bullet build.

I've been following the saber kernal for a while and seen that some guys are running the saber kernel on clean rom OC'd. Not sure if that what your looking for but that would put you right up there along the 7k mark.
I don't try to squeeze out numbers on the quadrant thing but I have ran a few times just to see. I score right about 6900. Note 2, CleanRom 4.0.5 with the kernal from that rom and no other tweaks that I know of that would increase the score. I am not over clocked or anything. Seems fine to me
Sorry to bother you guys with that silly question. Total user error. I had power-saving mode on, and it didn't even occur to me. I pretty much turn it on first thing anytime I reset my phone, and do it without thinking anymore. However, after resetting back to pure stock one more time, without power-saving mode, I actually hit 7168. Basically, I was trying to see the difference myself of stock performance verses a different ROM / kernel. I would also like to see the battery life difference for myself.
Anyhow, thanks to everyone for their responses.

Post your benchmarks here!

I have about 15 apps downloaded from the market. I did install the volume.db mod, sound 50% increase mod but no hosts modifications (besides whatever crossbreeder comes with). Stock SD card that came with my Evo 3D. ondemand gov w/ cfq scheduler.
I ran Quadrant 2 times, got roughly the same score +/- 50 , nothing drastic.

In the last picture before you there are three numbers under the word "Performance".
These numbers; Max, Avg and Min are the maximum performance and the minimum performance. If these numbers are close to each other that is good.. if there is a big difference that is bad it means the device throttle and you're not getting full performance.
In the picture it's good it says that the max performance and the average performance are really close and the minimum one is only 10% less.. so most of the time you're getting the best performance and when getting the worst it's only 10% worst.

Oh alright, thanks! I see better here. Like on desktop, thermal throttling and voltage throttling, CPU being underclocked if thermal/voltage throttling. Great, it is interesting indeed.
