There are not many Custom Roms at this point.
Developers are still figuring out Exynos (drivers and such), so development will be slower than devices with Snapdragon.
You can find the couple available for both WiFi (T700) and LTE (T705) on the Android Development Forums.

Hi, Thanks for taking the time to reply, what would you advise assuming you have one of these, do I just root and block ads for now or flash a rom and hope for the best?
Cheers

Root, play around with xposed mods. Custom roms are not essential at this point

there is currently no custom. the one that i compile for t705 are only a debloated roms with minor tweak...

From another point of view. ...
Your ROM is still "custom" using a modified Samsung base. Other CM AOSP etc are "custom" using a modified Google base.
The use of the word "stock" and "official" probably go hand in hand.
Edit: back OT, I suggest the OP to read up on the instructions thoroughly given by each ROM Dev/cook before flashing. Back up your important data off device first

Google Play Edition problem

I have installed Googl Play Edition 4.3 on my S4.
As a result, I have lost all of those cool Samsung features that rely on built in sensors
Is tgere any way to get those sensors working with Google play edition?
I mean things like turning pages by hand in the air above the phone, and scrolling ul and down by tilting the phone.
Thanks.
Is tbere a way to go back to Samsung stock rom? I did not back it up.

No TW features on 4.3. I think there was a minimal amount things on 4.2.2, but nothing really like the actual TW experience. If you want to go back stock, you have two choices: either Odin back to 100% stock and re-root... which is the boring way. OR you can d/l a modified/stock ROM and flash that with whatever custom recovery you have. Check the development sections; there are quite a few stock choices, and which one to pick just depends on whether you want it themed, bone stock looking, etc.
Thanks so much.
Do you have any recomedarions on modified stock Rom?
I am mostly concerned about a good battery life and speed of the device and getting back TW features.
By tbe way, do all midified stock Roms have TW features in them?
What are yiur recomedarions based on what I am looking for?
Thanks a lot

All modified stock ROMs have the TW features.
I've personally been using BobcatROM from the i9505 development section, but from what I could tell, the only differences between the modified stock are themes and small differences here and there. Just check a few out, if some of the tweaks or changes interest you, try it out.

Could you please point me to the right section to get modified original roms?
Is it in T-Mobile S4 Android Development section or t the T-Mobile S4 Android Original Android Development section?
I am not sure whether the original implies modified original rom section?
Would you also please include a link to where I can find your bobcat rom?
Thank you so much!

I gotta let you do SOME of the legwork But seriously, the mod/stock ROMs will be in Android Development and you can find kernels in the Original Development section. Considering you flash a T-Mobile kernel directly after flashing a ROM, you can use ROMs from any S4 development section including the "original development" section; be it AT&T, Sprint, etc. The only restriction is make sure not to flash a ROM from the i9500 section. The 9500 (Exynos octa-core) and 9505 (Snapdragon like the m919 and others) is the "international version" and share a forum; just different subsections dedicated to each one individually. The i9505 section is safe, which is where Bobcat is located. It's pounded into the ground, but it's worth mentioning again; if you rely on WiFi calling, you will want a T-Mobile TouchWiz ROM. If you're like me though and care nothing about WiFi calling then there's no reason to stick with only the T-Mobile ROMs unless you just prefer them.

II am a little confused.
Don't roms come with Kernels?
Do I need to download a separate rom and kernel
I just want to get an aokp rom tgat will give me the original tw features. Where do I go for that?

ROMs do come with kernels, and that's why if you flash an S4 ROM from outside the T-Mobile section you need to flash a T-Mobile kernel. The T-Mobile ROMs obviously already have T-Mobile kernels. If you flash a ROM from the AT&T section, your device will be using an AT&T kernel and will not boot. But if you flash the AT&T ROM and flash a T-Mobile kernel directly afterwards, your device will then have the T-Mobile kernel and will run that AT&T ROM just like it was built for your device. The only way to retain your TouchWiz features is to use any ROM based on stock. If you want AOKP, CM, AOSP, etc you will lose all of the TW features. I think WatchON works on some (most?) non-TW ROMs now; but as far as things like Air Move, Smart Pause/Stay, the TouchWiz camera, and the other gimmicky features... they don't work outside of TouchWiz. Read up. Go to the dev sections and read, at the very least, the first post for the ROMs. That first post will almost always give you an idea of what features the ROM includes, screenshots of what it looks like, what's not working that is supposed to, and if it's TouchWiz based or CM/AOSP based.
And throw lordcheeto a thanks or two lets him know you appreciate his leg work and explanation.
Thanks so much for all this info!
Really appreciate it.

Maybe a new Note 2 user here... I have some questions

Hey guys,
I possibly may get a Note 2 and just have a quick question regarding the AOSP Roms here.
Looking through the threads, it seems like the AOSP Roms are doing very well and very stable.
Am I correct with this and is there anything I should know? I love AOSP Roms very much lol.
Also I didn't find the rooting thread, is it easy to root?
Thanks!!!!!
Is there anybody out there? lol
Rooting is easy If you use the Galaxy note 2 toolbox in the development thread. Not sure about the asop roms. not really a fan.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1957155

Great, thanks!
I am mainly asking about AOSP Roms because that's the only thing I use lol.
cm11 and omnirom work great esp with xposed. No issues. However the update to kk is kind of a one way thing due to the changes in storage mount points.
tapa_talk 4 sucks

Actually that statement is far from true. I bounce between 4.2.2, 4.3, 4.4.2 aosp and 4.1.2, 4.3 touchwiz all the time.
The thing is that you have to wipe your internal sdcard. Actually I wipe mine every time I flash any rom even if they are the same version. A clean flash will always give you the best results.
One place to check

You are not going to get an answer to that question on XDA.
1. "Best rom" is a personal opinion
2. People are not going to claim a best because it kinda takes away from some devs who put a lot of hard work into their roms.
Download the available ones and try them all out. That's your answer.
The best advice we can give is to try a few and see what works for you. Different set ups give different results. Even with the same rom. It's why we don't allow comparison threads on xda. Our devs out in a lot of work to give users choice.
I've closed this, but enjoy trying some different builds.

"official" Lollipop/Marshmallow on i9195

good morning.
I'd like to know if there's any way to get an official (I mean directly from Google) Lollipop/Marshmallow rom and flash it on an i9195 and, if yes, what's the procedure to do that.
I don't mean custom roms that we can all find even here but just basic ones.
maybe I'm asking something strange/obvious, I bag your pardon but I'm not so expert...
thanx

No. Basically you have the "official" touchwiz rom for your region/carrier/device(developed by Samsung and the carrier) and you have custom roms.
Only Nexus devices have vanilla AOSP roms that are more or less stock android. It is possible to have stock AOSP on this device but it is a LOT of work for a developer to get it to work properly. This is why most roms are based on CM because of the existing development and code base

I keep asking down here because I don't want to overload the forum, even though this new question of mine could be in another post: as I flash a new rom I guess I'm getting a "bulk" android, so does anybody know if there's a "good" (i.e. reliable and working!) tool/app/mod/wth that can bring TouchWiz back on the device?
I feel very comfortable with Samsung's TouchWiz and wouldn't like to lose it...
thanx again

I wish more XDA users would think before they overload or post off-topic in threads.
When you flash a custom rom, you are entirely overwriting the /system partition. This is where the touchwiz rom also needs to reside. To flash a stock touchwiz rom you need a tool called Odin(for windows; Heimdall is similar but works on Linux). You can get Odin from a lot of different places, I found one in here, there are a few versions but this one works well in my experience.
You can search for youtube tutorials or tutorials on XDA for how to use Odin. Search for "stock rom i9195" or "Odin tutorial" or something....
All you need then is the touchwiz rom in .tar.md5 format which you can get from a number of sites including sammobile.com and samsung-updates.com. You will get a .zip file which when unzipped gives you the .tar.md5 file. Be aware that most of these sites require a premium membership for fast downloads. You can still download at slow sppeds but it is really slow. Just choose the latest rom for your region
sorry, maybe I didn't understand well: can I put touchwiz back on a CM custom rom or not?

No, Touchwiz needs Samsung proprietary files etc to work.
Edit; but you may be able to get a similar feel by applying a "touchwiz" theme, but it's not real touchwiz

No, it's either one or the other. When you flash a custom rom it completely wipes the /system partition(either manually or automatically within the installer script). Normally you need to wipe your data as well because of incompatibilities.
So, you don't "put touchwiz on" the custom rom or vice versa. You replace the whole operating system. Hope that makes it clearer
:crying:
what do you think about these things I found on Google Play?
CM13/12.x Galaxy S7
CM13/12.X GalaxyUI Themes
CM12.x/CM13 Galaxy S6
TouchWiz for CM13
TouchWiz Style CM12 Theme
Touchwhiz Apex/Nova Theme

Dude no custom roms are out. I don't find it disrespectful to request but come on. Let the devs actually get a beta Los rom, or something along that line, up and running before we start requesting this rom or that rom.

It would be far easier just to get a Xiaomi phone.
Actually exist one , an experimental gsi =[
Really buggie , and there are several months since they no longer update the rom
:crying:
Will we ever get custom roms for our a50, all available roms are either crappy non working worst gsi's, and other's are samsung one ui with some tweak. Atleast i was expecting a stock android rom.
Don't make excuses if developers wanted they would've done it even I'm shocked newly launched some mediatek powered realme phones having bunch of stable roms but not this device.
Phew
I think it has something to do with the Exynos 9610 processor... if it was snapdragon it would be easier.

Just stay with default One UI! These days performance and battery on stock roms are good, if not better than custom roms! Especially camera quality is the main reason to say stock.
