Stock Tab 3 - Screen Flickers - Galaxy Tab 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just recently got a T217S from Sprint, had it about 2 weeks, running all stock, 4.42 Android. Ran fine the first week, then I noticed that the screen would start to flicker. Doesn't change colors, just flickers. Playing with the brightness can sometimes cause it to stop temporarily, but it starts again almost immediately. The level of brightness doesn't make a difference, neither does any applications I'm running. I've rebooted it into safe mode and without even touching it, it started flickering less than 30 seconds after booting. I've google the heck out of this and it doesn't seem to be a hardware issue, but an Android problem. I would like to avoid a factor reset if I can, especially until I get solid proof that it would FIX the problem. So far, no one can even tell me WHY it's doing it.
HELP???

[Q] Desire Screen thing

This is something very peculiar I'm experiencing. I got the desire a few months ago, rooted it, and I'm fine with S-Off. Now the peculiar thing's that a couple of days ago, I was watching a movie on my phone, and it was working fine, when suddenly the screen blackened. It wont turn on even when I tried the power button. I was devastated until at night I tried to turn on the screen again, and my room was dark, and I noticed that there was a flickering of light in the screen, and I could detect all my icons. The touch was working all right too. I started to slightly tap my phone, and this turned it on after a few tries. But the problem's that it keeps on doing so (blacking out) every hour or so of use, and I love playing Chess at level 10. Can someone help with this??? I'm sure this is a hardware related prob, cuz I tried every software and app things.

[Q] N7 becomes super slow intermittently. I flexed it and it seemed to fix it.

Bare with me I know this sounds weird. My 2013 Wifi N7 worked well for quite a while, then would intermittently get extremely slow to the point of being unusable. It was previously unlocked and rooted so I reflashed the factory image a few times but it would still have issues. I was starting to think the flash memory in it was bad.
Just today I reflashed 5.1.1 (was on 5.0.1 which was the last time I used it). Upon first boot the startup animation started going extremely slow, occasionally speed up to normal speed, stop and appear to freeze then start moving slowly again. The animation continued to speed up, slow down and freeze. After about 10 minutes it still had not not gotten to the initial Android sign in screen.
I picked it up and slightly flexed it from 2 opposite corners and suddenly the boot animation starting playing at full speed. I stopped flexing it and it slowed to a crawl again. I did this a few times and each time slightly flexing it caused it to work correctly. I held it in the flexed position and the boot animation continued to display at normal speed and it finally completely booted up. Once it booted it asked to connect to Wifi and again was super slow and unresponsive after I let go of the corners to touch the screen. I then flexed it back and forth a little more forcefully and it has continued to work normally since then. I have played with it a little and rebooted a few times with no issues.
I am assuming there is something loose internally that flexing somehow fixes. Does anyone have any idea what would be causing this? I don't have a problem opening it up and trying to permanently fix whatever is causing the issue but I'd like to know the cause before I attempt a repair.

Hi,
I had the same issue like you, do you get what was wrong with your Nexus?

Unfortunately no. I ended up giving it away to someone else with a N7 that had a cracked screen so they could attempt to transplant the working screen from my unit.

D850 Screen unresponsive randomly HELP!....please?

Hello everyone, I just recently got a G3 and it was working fine for the 1st 2 days, no issues. I was sending a text to a friend earlier today and after it sent, it completely froze. After doing a soft reset it took forever to boot up. Once it booted up, it seemed to be fine. about an hour of operation, the screen looked as if it was freezing because it wasn't recognizing any of my touches. i decide to flip the phone sideways to see if it was actually frozen but it changed to landscape just fine. Sometimes it comes back to life then goes off again shortly after, and other times, i have to soft reset. I've tried the following to no avail.
Took the phone apart and cleaned both connectors.
Re-flashing the rom.
Trying 4 other roms.
Returned to lollipop stock.
I can't figure this out for the life to me and worked my ass of to be able to buy this phone. Any help would be appreciated as I can't afford to spend any more money on it!
I also have this issue, it's been ongoing for a few weeks. There will be short periods where it can work just fine, then it just freezes up and does not register any inputs. The content on the screen continues to run as if nothing happened (videos and games keep playing). Turning the screen off, waiting a couple minutes, then turning it on can sometimes give me another minute of use until it freezes up again. Also of note, when the screen is unresponsive and I press the power, it will dim to very low levels for a few seconds before going fully black. When the screen is being responsive and I press the power, it goes straight to black, as is normal and expected. From my testing, I've concluded:
1. This issue is not app dependent. It can occur at any time, and is not caused by alarms or overlays, such as blue light filters.
2. The issue is not from the specific battery I use. I've switched out between multiple batteries and used different chargers, none seem to affect the frequency of freezes.
3. Temperature may have something to do with this. When waking the phone after it's been sitting out in the cold, there seems to be a higher likelihood that it will be unresponsive. This is not always the case, which makes concluding that the issue is hardware related difficult, but some correlation seems to exist.
4. This issue started occurring shortly before I began having the popular "SIM Card Removed" issue, which I've yet to resolve (though can sometimes get the SIM card to work)
I am running stock 6.0 D85030p AT&T. I will post here again if I figure something out, but I have been trying for weeks without much success.

Screen flicker when manually locking screen

I sideloaded the July patch 2 days ago and now out of the blue, my screen has decided to start flickering if I manually press the power button to lock the phone. I turned on AOD when the June patch came out because of the horrible lag that was introduced but now I've gotten used to the AOD and don't really want to turn it off now. When I tested it by turning off the AOD, the flicker doesn't occur. Did Google just revert back to pre-June patch with that setting? I thought they said they found a solution that both takes care of the lag and the flicker? Furthermore, why was it working fine for 2 days and now just randomly decided to start flickering?? I have also noticed that I am getting a little higher battery drain. It may be time for a wipe to see if that clears these items up but other feedback and experiences are appreciated to determine if I'm the only one or if it's wide spread.
Side note: I turned off AOD and then forced a restart by holding the power button for 10-12 seconds. Once the phone came back on, I turned AOD back on and it hasn't had the issue but for how long will this last, I don't know.
Well that lasted about 30 minutes and the flicker came back. I may try a wipe soon to see what happens but I'd hate to do it for nothing.
I've experienced this multiple times, doesn't matter what update I was on, but it went away after some time. Haven't experienced it in some time.
Never knew what the cause was or what the fix was either. p:
This used to be a major issue and it disappeared for most with the first beta. Weird that you're suddenly experiencing it. Google were/are aware.
It seems to be coming and going with AOD on. I haven't done a wipe yet but if it keeps coming back over the next day or 2, I will.

Screen gets pixelated and phone crashes. What might be wrong?

I have a OP3 for 2 years. It is running stock OxygenOS 5.0.6 with f2fs partitions. For the last year, the screen gets pixelated and the phone hangs and switches off. It can be restarted almost immediately. This usually happens randomly and is accompanied by a loud beep sound when it happens while watching videos.
I have noticed that the top right edge of the screen is popping slightly (barely noticeable like 2mm from its normal position) out from the frame.
I have tried resetting the phone several times to no avail.
This crash is happening several times a day now instead of once a week like earlier.
Is there something wrong with the display or logic board or some loose connector? Wanted to know if anybody has a fix for this.

That happened to me and it was a faulty mother board. It took me to send it to repair twice as their standard test showed everything was ok and they never tested it with use only connected to program and ran tests.
I hand the same color pixels after the last update 5.0.6, few times but differnet scenario - the phone was entering deep sleep and shuting down (usualy when charging), I got this pixels few times on black screen - when trying to "wake it up".
What solved it for me - I disabled "advanced battery optimisation" from the battery menue -since then it is stable.
Not sure it will help you - but you can try it.
Good luck!
