I've got a question with the native Screen Mirroring feature. On my Note PRO it just works. I connect to all my devices painlessly. Picked up the Note 4 last week and I have been unsuccessful in connecting it to -any- of my devices. I always get the message that it failed, and on the device it shows "connecting" but eventually times out.
I can use AllCast and Chromecast, no problem...Just unable to mirror my screen!
Anyone else having this issue?
Cast Screen.
Chromecast app has the Note 4 enabled for Cast Screen.
Just open the app and the option should be on the left menu.
Which is fine if a Chromecast is available, but is there a solution regarding the native mirroring feature found on the device? Say I'm at work and need to connect to a projector using screen mirroring and the projector doesn't have an input for a Chromecast. Maybe at my friend's house and trying to connect to his bluray... See what I mean?
I only had problems on the Pro after rooting (until a fixed kernel was released). It seems strange that a factory stock device would have the same problem. I have done a factory reset, but the issue persists.
I've used the native mirroring with a fire TV stick without any issues.
Hey folks,
as miracast and all the other solutions i have tried so far don't work (or give random problems / don't allow proper mirroring) I wanted to ask if somebody here knows away to achieve mirroring from an android device?!
I tried youmap cast receiver which worked for about 2 weeks but then was removed from the marked and the manually installed app doesn't work any longer, now idea why but thats how it is with my device...
I have a rooted 1st generation fireTV, so is there any way of getting this mirroring stuff working?
thanks is advance
Thorsten
I just installed Chromecast to use with my tablet. The screen freezes after 3 to 30 seconds when viewing youtube and other online videos but seems to play videos installed on my tablet without a problem. I have tried just about everything I can think of to overcome this issue but with no success. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app many times, and have reset the chromecast many times as well. From my online searches for an answer, I see that I am not the only one having this problem. Has anyone found a solution to this issue?
No issues here, are you casting natively or screen casting?
Chromecast freezing Samsung Galaxy Tab s
Thanks for responding. I am screen casting. (Not sure what casting natively is.)

Why are you screen casting when you can cast directly to Chromecast?
Screen casting can tend to be laggy.
I don't know how to cast directly. Lagging is not the problem. After anywhere from 3 to 30 seconds, the screen freezes on the TV and on my tablet and then the tablet reboots automatically and then I have to start over (with no success).

The whole point of chromecast is that it plays streams directly.
You can mitigate your problem by doing this.
Practically any stream, be that Web, local, or server based can be cast to Chromecast natively.
For casting from the Web there are 2 great apps one is Web video caster and another is Vegacast. Both will cast practically anything Web based.
Simply open the page where the web stream/media is then click the More button in stock browser then Share and then Web Video Caster.
Finally select the media you wish to play.
It should then cast.
Or just open Web Video Caster first and then navigate to the Web page required using its in built browser.

Thanks for your help. I was able to get things working by following the directions in another post "How to directly cast from android device in tethering WiFi AP mode" quoted below:
"I directly sent both local media from my device and internet media to chromecast connected to WiFi AP in tethered mode from same device: a thing that was deemed impossible.
Procedure:
1) started WiFi tethering on main device (Galaxy Note 2, N7100, 4.1.2 firmware, N.E.A.K kernel);
2) long pressed chromecast button to reset and start configuration;
3) used a second android device, with chromecast application, to configure the chromecast dongle with main device WiFi cloud;
4) turned off second device;
5) started Bubbleupnp on main device;
6) in devices tab, selected chromecast as renderer and "local media server" as library;
7) then in library tab, chose a video, and believe it or not it started playing on chromecast yabbadabbadoo!
I also successfully casted music files, Google plus photos, dropbox files, and whatnot from Bubbleupnp.
Then I tried another app, mirror4cast, which mirrors the android device screen to chromecast, and you know, this worked perfectly too
Finally, I got arrogant and decided to try YouTube. The official app does not recognize the chromecast dongle in this setup, so instead of using it, I opened my browser (mobile Firefox) and loaded a web page with several embedded YouTube videos. To send them to the chromecast dongle, I used another third party application, Web Video Caster. Full success, in fact I am enjoying a Rolling Stones video while writing this
Now people please experiment and confirm my findings, to exclude I am hallucinating or I got an happily defective unit…"
you didn't mention in your original post you were tethering.
if you are using the Screen Mirroring option on the newer Chromecast 2015 model (the puck), unfortunately it is not supported on the Tab S line.
I found this out after trying to contact support for a week to get a straight answer. They finally told me its a beta feature and will not work with all devices. When asked if they will be updating the supported device list they told me they had no plans to do so.
So basically, if the mirror feature works, it works. If it don't work correctly with your device, you are sol until they decide to add more supported devices when they feel like it. Don't hold your breath though.
Some of the poorest customer service for a new device if you ask me. I still like it for streaming YouTube, Vudu, Google Play movies and the like.

I guess that would have helped. (I had to look up a definition of tethering.) Anyway, all's well that end well. I was able to get it to do what I want it to do. I was ready to take the Chromecast back to the store before I started asking questions on this forum. Just about every new piece of technology that is acquired requires a lot of information that most of us don't have.
Thanks again

I only wasted about 4 hours trying to figure out why it wasn't working. If I had known what you know, it would have saved a lot of time. It seemed like such a simple solution when we bought it, but nothing is ever simple when it comes to technology.
You can cast the screen using the official chromecast app, works for both chromecast 1 and 2.

on T700 it wont work for me. It gives an error saying this device may not be compatible, then when you try and screen cast it just does nothing.
I have the Puck style one (guess its know as 2015 or 2.0)

It says that on all my devices. I have both and both work fine to cast the screen using the chromecast cast app.
Are you using the latest version?

sorry man it just wont work for me. Just shows a black screen and disconnects itself.
After contacting support they said they have no plans to fix it since its a beta feature and there are too many devices.

Strange how it works on the t805 and not the t700.
Well there's hardly ever a time when you need to actually cast the screen.

yah i find it odd, but it shows that there is clearly a difference in the two that we are missing somehow.
Only thing I would use screen mirroring for is if I wanted to play some games on the big screen that don't have a cast feature already built in.
Screen mirroring works on my galaxy tab s 10.5 (t800) but not for video.
I can cast the screen just fine, but if I start a video on the tablet it will freeze and restart. Sometimes it happens immediately, sometimes it plays for some minutes and then freezes.
It has been like that since I bought the tablet. Many updates, but the issue was never solved. Happens on chromecast 1 and 2.
I happily rooted with Elementalx and finally decided to use the cast feature from the pull down menu. So after buying Chromecast and get a ridiculous response which reads "device not supported and experience may vary" but bottomline didn't work. Now I have Screen Beam Pro and I go to cast but it does not show any available device.
So Not giving up I tried some apps to find one that works and I did and it has ads (don't want the app) but it recognized the Screen Beam device whereas before without the app, cast shows nothing.
How do I fix this to use OP3 cast feature?
Hey guys,
i have a Mi 6 with unofficial RR running Oreo. When i install google home i cant see all my chromecast devices - even though thru YouTube app i am actually able to cast to all of them. Spotify however does not see them (but it does see other android devices having cast receiver installed).
At first i thought that my wifi setup might be messed up, but i tried an iPhone i had around and its working like a charm - seeing both Chromecasts and cast receiver devices.
I searched google and this forum, but couldnt find anything related.. - is anyone experiencing this kind of problem and do you have a solution?
