Root without computer? - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I gonna receive my new g3 on holidays, and i wanted to know if there is a way to root it without a computer. What do you think?

Not as of today, but it's conceivable that the next method could be released as an apk. Nobody knows when that will be though.

Towel root is good but some think it has viruses

It's an exploit. Exploits trigger virus definitions and scanners. To be clear, there is no virus or virii in towelroot.
The only issue people may find with it, is that it doesn't root certain firmware versions or models now.

I haven't seen this happen to anyone else, is there accrual proof that rooting caused the damage? That isn't relevant to the OP, how we I have 2 rooted G3's currently one that's been rooted since launch and Ive had zero issues.

Ridiculous comment. Rooting has nothing to do with a perceived motherboard issue.

I have one and we weren't able to unlock with 4.3. I am curious whether anything changed under KK... but AFAIK... The answer is no.

Just root and flash a custom ROM from here.

Just root and flash a custom ROM from here. I have never heard that you can NOT root a carrier specific device. I bought a T-Mobile version of P-605 from Germany and I unlocked it by rooting and flashing a custom ROM.
Cheers,

The bootloader is locked. The current CF auto root methods do not work. Odin fails. At least they didn't before. If I am wrong please let me know.

Have you tried all methods? If nothing works then maybe you need to wait until someone cracks it? I have always been able to un-brand carrier specific devices.

lol I genuinely appreciate your reckless testing. I'm not familiar enough with the process to be hopeful or hopeless about the future for dev on vzw bootloader shenanigans. I willingly let vroot attempt to get access on my vzw note 3, fail, then asked kingo to violate the sanctuary before getting it right. There's many people who know a LOT more than me who will swear up and down about risks being benign but I think it's undeniable the entire process is more than unsanitary.
I wouldn't sell my soul to the devil for root/vstrap on this device but then again... he has yet to make an offer.

UNROOT

Hi there, can i unroot my g3 by clicking on supersu "full unroot" setting? I rooted using towel root and installed xposed framework and g3 tweaksbox to change a few things here and there. I also uninstalled some bloat using titanium backup. However i realized that i can no longer use android run time which kinda bums me out because it felt a lot smoother to me. Any help with unrooting would be greatly appreciated...

Because I tried it.
And another Verizon person couldn't get it to work. And no one on Verizon has yet confirmed that it does work.
LG Suite just won't recognize the Verizon G3 at all.

[Q] Is there a way to enable all apps on Dual Window mode without root?

Hi,
Ive seen some people having all their apps in the Dual Window mode like Whatsapp Facebook etc
but all the ways were by rooting the LG G3 and I dont want to root the phone since ive heard its cencels the insurance
so I wonder if there is a way to do this without rooting the phone?
Thanks
Since you have to modify the build.prop (which requires root) i do not think there is a way without rooting your phone.

So are you sure there isnt like an app or something like that that allowes it?
No 3rd party app to do it. Rooting is the only way. Who's your cell provider? By insurance do you mean the manufacture warranty? Do see how rooting voids the warranty if you can just reflash the phone and start it like new again.

Say you wanted to "unroot" so you can do a warranty claim you can return the phone back to factory stock with an LG tool

Or you can easily unroot with SuperSU app without resetting the phone and deleting everything from it.

Well rooting is really easy if you want to use vroot. Just search for vroot or iroot (an .apk that runs on your phone without connecting to a PC.) After you're rooted, just search through twrp threads on how to flash a recovery and unlocking your bootloader. If your bootloader is locked, you will end up bricking your device so be careful and do your homework first. Good luck

Sorry it didn't work out for you. Keep searching threads and topics. There is a lot of support for the G3 on here. Wish I could be of more help to you, but sadly I only have the LG Intuition and there isn't any support for my device at all. If I come across something I will post it on here for you.

Look in the S8 plus forum for ROMs for the Partcyborg ROM. You should be able to flash that because it is a bootloader version 2 ROM.

From what i understand to get back to stock we have to do a full wipe factory reset. Then use the right firmware and do odin flash(not princecomsey version).
