2 file explore which can edit built in prop (root explore is my favourite)
3.xposed fremwork inatalled
4. "App setting" module installed from xposed modules(to change phone dpi)
Before u start have a look at attached screenshot if you like then you can proceed.
Steps to tewake
1. Open file explorer and go to system/buildin prop(open it with text edit mode)
2. Now go to Al the way down and look for ro.sf.lcd_destiny:
3.by default it wod be 240 change it to 200 and save.
4.now reboot you will have much space on home
5. Now open xposed module app setting
6. Search for phone and do change DPI and screen(dp) as per sereen shot attached below also dont forget to check xlargeres
7. Save changes and reboot
All done
forget to mention
please clear xperia home data after reboot
Loved your tutorial.
But there's one thing, can it increase the battery consume? Or it will remain the same?

I was wondering if anyone has been able to change the DPI on AOKP Jelly Bean Build 1 everytime I use LCD Density modder the phone will not boot. Any suggestions??????
Just change the density in the build.prop yourself. The LCD Density app doesn't work with Jelly Bean and will just result in a soft brick if you use it.

Answered my Own question
Step 1: Open Root Explorer ("allow" superuser if first time loading) and you should be at the root partition. / Scroll down and select "system". You should now be located in /system.
Step 2: Select the "Mount R/W" button at the top. The "r/o" to the left of the button should change to "r/w".
Step 3: Long press build.prop and "Open in Text Editor".
Step 4: Scroll about half way down and find the line "ro.sf.lcd_density=240". Change it to a value you like 167/180/200/220. (I'm using 187 right now).
Step 5: Select the "menu" button on your phone and then select "Save Changes". Root Explorer will make a nice build.prop.bak backup for you.
Step 6: Open the Spare Parts application and make sure "Compatibility Mode" is unchecked.
Step 7: Reboot your phone.
Great well you can go through the build.prop file and go through a hassle... or... use ROM Toolbox and change the DPI in the app.
Nexus S. (GSM i9020a)

Air Kernel (Week 193 - Vodoo)

BLX (98 - Inverted. Apps)
Black Exodus (UnderVolted)
I changed my DPI to 240 and it seems to invoking tablet mode or something. My lockscreen slider is pushed to the right on my lockscreen and I have phone elements that don't look right. What are the acceptable lower DPI's to choose from on Build 1?
does this change affect play store? why it is no more natively supported in aokp?
Hey guys!
I think there are many out there that has the Nexus 4 but cant find the right softkeys for them. So I made this guide for people who don't know how to do their own softkeys. And the ones who know can post them here .
I would recomend GIMP for this; it's easy(for basic things), good and free. If you can use another picture editor, it's fine (I cant exactly tell how you do this on other programs, but i believe it's pretty similar).
Make them
1. Download Gimp and install it if you don't have it. http://gimp.org/
2. Make a folder. You're going to have all your files in there.
3. Open Gimp (may take some time to load).
4. File - New - Set size to 300 x 300 - Advanced - Set X and Y to 320 - And fill it with transparency.
5. Now use your creativity! Look for tutorials on gimps website or on forums, if you need any ofcourse.
6. When you're done with your first softkey, for instance the home button, resize it (using the scaling tool) to 60 x 60 (you can test out different sizes but it has to be a square) (I use 60x60 because I think it's the best one).
7. File - Save as (.xcf) in the folder you created.
8. File- export- navigate to the folder - save as png (default).
9. Now make the buttons you use or would like to make and save them.
Installation
On some roms, like Xylon and Aokp, you can set the icons directly from the settings. If you don't use one of these roms, you have to do the following:
1. Use the attached template
2. Unzip it with Winrar or 7-zip.
3. Edit the xml file and replace the **
4. Rename your icons to the same names as the template icons in the systemui folder. For landscape mode icons, just add _land to the name(for example ic_sysbar_home_land)
5. When you're done, make a zip of the edited SystemUi folder and the edited xml file. Note: speed should be "store".
6. use Zipthemer to install it. If you dont know how to use it, see this
Notes: a) After you resize it to for instance 60x60, you can use the crop tool to cut away everything but the icon (be careful, dont cut the icon)
b) To change the color of the icon: colors - colorize
Dont forget to post your creativity here! And I'm happy to help!
Thanks to : azertguigui for his guide
Sorry for my english
I've uploaded my version down below
Quality tutorial up there, Keep up the good work
Thanks

Thanks a million for this tutorial! Took me about 2 hours to get my head around it and whip this up!
You're welcome! Could you upload your softkeys in case anyone wants them?
Hello,
A great colleague of mine who also owns a xperia S like me
loaded SlimNasomi rom (I think 4.2.2) and did change lcd DPI.
Screen displays more info and icons are smaller. Look nice.
Is it a way to do it with official 6.2.b.1.96 rom ?
I found a thread on a forum about root'ing the phone and
updating a file build.prop in /system, updating ro.sf.lcd_density
I even found an app 'Google Play DPI Fix Tool'
Did anyone already try to play with LCD DPI's ?
Thanks. Cheers from Belgium,
Thierry
I use Texdroider DPI - it worked on stock JB, rooted.

It changes build.prop to desired dpi. I use it because it's faster and it really works. I tried on stock ROM, OpenSEMC and letama's AOSP 4.3.
And what is the range of values to stay in to avoid an endless bootloop?
yes that's the question, What value did you use for. in .200 fw i used a lcd density changer soft (don't remember the name) and guess what i got endless loop. I used 244 or something like that.
I usually use 240 and I didn't have any problems with that dpi.
It is standard Android dpi so most apps work just fine. Stock ROM look good but it has some minor offsets (gradient in notification bar as far as I remember).
I have been talking about this in the themes section in an old thread. I keep seeing people have issues with the dpi apps. I personally just edit build prop manually as it is not hard. I use Anttek explorer for my file browsing and edits. I would also suggest you try Xposed framework and per app dpi module. The magic LCD number is 192 for tablet mode. If you set home to 160 it goes into tablet mode but the status bar will not combine at the bottom. There is also another xposed module that forces tablet mode and works well but is still buggy. You also loose small apps.
There is a way to force tablet mode with out the dpi change but I have to figure out how to do that and even then not sure it will actually work. Need to ask some smali experts to help me.
... and what about if in endless bootloop ? ... :crying:
You must make backup before any modifcations
Yea it is a great idea to have a backup when messing with the system. If something goes wrong you can just go back to where you started.
This mod will change default apps UI to look like G3:
Contact, Phone, Setting, Lockscreen, Home, Message, Camera
Little icon change for:
Internet, videos, calculator, gallery
How to:
1. You must have a file manager for editing Example.apk, X-PLORE file manager is always highly recommended:
2. Download zip from attachments, open mod & copy(replace) "res" folder in Example.apk.
3. Replace your new Example.apk with the original one in system/app.
4. You MUST always Restart your phone to get the right result! Possible Force closes before restart are normal
Done! Enjoy!
Flashable zip is here!please reply the result
----------editing apk files with X-plore file manager:
hold on an apk file & select "open as archive" & then you can modify APKs easily
----------how this mod works?
this mod will replace only some pictures in Example.apk
If you don't like a change, easily delete its picture from mod folder & copy pics again to the original copy of Example.apk.
!! remember to have the original STOCK APK files somewhere safe !!
I suggest to copy the system/"app" folder somewhere safe
If you want to have changeable status bar & navbar colors same as action bar(flat style like my screenshot, you can use FlatStyleColoredBars! Even on 4.1 like myself. All the credits goes to ibocharov, that's a great module & worthy to buy the pro if you like!
BUT IT'S ONLY FOR 4.3+! BUT NO PROBLEM, install Xinstaller Xposed module & disable checking sdk version & it will be installed & will work on 4.1 jellybean perfect!
NOTE: use the 0.63 or lower versions of flatstylecoloredbars on jellybean, the newer versions cause serious force closes! If you've already faced the problem, use Xposed recovery mode:
Restart the phone, once you see boot animation, press volume down four times or more!
That's how I solve the problem on my (locked bootloader-no custom recovery) device!
The 0.63 version that I'm already using it, is perfect for jellybean,I've attached it(edited, works with 4.1 without other modules )
If you want to have G3 style notification bar & lollipop Navigation bar on your Optimus G like the screenshot, here is the place:

The problem is my phone is not unlocked & I don't know how to make flashable zip!
But I make you sure even by deleting the apps above, phone will boot normally(tested) & you can replace or copy your original apps, they will be restored FOR SURE.
Also that's not that much hard to modify them! At most 10 minutes for all of them!

Persian. Well, maybe your tester was an Iranian. The screen shot from contacts was my clue.
After upgrading MI A2 Lite to android P i noticed that space betwen notification icons in status bar (to the left of notch) was increased.
As a result, the number of icons that can be displayed without the appearance of the point (that mean further incons hidden) was reduced from 3 to 2. thus, when i have 3 or more notifications, only one icon is displayed plus the point. that is very ugly for me.
I want to know if there are a way to edit that "value" changed. I was exploring the "systemui tuner" app, but there isnt an option for this setting.
Anyone have some idea? My device is not rooted but im considering to do it very soon.
Im attaching an image to compare.
Thank you!

You are right. That, adding to those annoying arrows icons besides network, make status bar useless.
Mi a2 lite Status bar bugs
In addition, Android p experience is great so far on Mi A2 lite but there's still an issue with status bar.. Previously on oreo,The height of the notch and the status bar were equal but after pie update the status bar height overpasses the notch leaving a black space (of like 2 to 3 mm) in between the notch and the quick settings panel This is clear once you pull down the quick settings panel as shown in the attachment below??,, is this a bug or? Or is there a way to adjust that space without root
This is the most annoying thing I've found in Android P. You can't almost see any notification. Does anyone know if this is editable somehow?

You can in the developer options -> "smallest width" the DPI screw.
I have it e.g. set to 512. Now, next to the clock, there are 4 more icons to match.
If the desktop is too small, most launcher users can set custom icon and font sizes.

Simple Way To Get System UI Tuner On Android P Preview (Without Installing Nova Launcher Or Using ADB Commands)
1. Download QuickShortCutMaker
2. In the search bar (in the app) type in "Demo Mode"
3. Click on the "System UI" option
4. Click on the "System UI demo mode" option that appears after clicking on "System UI"
5. Click the "Try" button
There you go, you can now access the system UI tuner again, without having to install nova launcher
http://www.kepfeltoltes.eu/view.php?filename=469notch.jpg
5. A2Lite Settings, display, special, displayed size, minimum value
Best way to handle this
Hey guys i had the update yesterday and always had a tiny white dot popping up instead 4G symbol and the vibration mode symbol...extremely annoying as i first thought i have some hidden notifications!!
Forget about Nova Launcher or any **** just download and install UI Tuner Launcher from the PlayStore. Actually it is a shortcut to the system UI. Open it, go the status bar, battery - battery percentage only when loading (my system is in german so i don't know the exact words for this option). That's for now the best option! The problem are these silly down and upload arrows beneath the connection symbol! I found no option to remove them! If you pull down the status bar battery percentage is still shown at the top so you can always check if you want an accurate battery status!
Another option is maybe to set the font size to minimal as the battery percentage in standard font size is extremely huge
Let's hope for another update on this issue!
PS: ho to upload pictures here?
thanks for the tip "UI Tuner Launcher" but it doesn't solve the initial issue of this topic...
I have the same issue,, if someone know how to fix it please tell us
sorry
ah yeah sorry!
than actually change screen settings (font, depth etc...) to minimal or in the dev.opt. as described above! 512 dpi! theres nothing else in the moment!
i think there is a way... the space could be modified by editing the value in "status_bar_icon_padding" of the file SystemUI/res/values/dimens.xml
But for it is required to decompile SystemUI.apk > edit > recomplile and inject it to the system partition. my device is not rooted yet, but i will do it and test this soon.
I found a little solution for our problem, but only into rooting phone: download the apk file https://apkpure.com/disable-network-activity-indicator-rro-8-0-only/com.keypressure.disable_network_activity_indicator, rename the file in "com.keypressure.disable_network_activity_indicator.apk" ,put in system/app, edit the autorizzation in rw-r--r-- and reboot the phone.
After the boot the arrow keys they should missing. The apk is a little app "Disable Network Activity Indicator RRO (8.0 Only)" that you can find in the play store, only that are impossible installing to Pie because is working only for Oreo.
With to the system wich I described, it working also in Pie.
