Features :
PAL, First time in Android history that Per-App-Layout has been realized
This rom features a setting called Per-App-Density - PAD. It basically allows you to scale apps, make them bigger or smaller. This is a must for tablet mode since it shrinks your apps considerably, making them useless. you can even scale widgets and framework components like the navigationbar. You can define an apps native DPI with it, make it look stock, smaller or bigger than that, your decision.
All apps are depicted at DPI 182 per standard. No other rom has that feature right now
Google Play does not allow density changes and will stop working if you mess around with that. This rom fixes that problem for you 100%.
More stuff: Recents window closer to stock, fixes for overlapping elements, framework fixes, no crashes, working Phone (looks 100% like stock aswell),Sense 4 Recent Apps too etc.

TUTORIAL
How to change DPI for individual app - Thanks to The Gingerbread Man
You will need;
1 A root level file explorer like root explorer
2 A little patience
To perform the changes
So you need to find out if the app you want to change the dpi level for is either a system or data app, to do this open your file manager and look in system/app or data/app. You need to then long press the app you want and press rename. Then copy the app name by long pressing the text and press copy, dont copy any .apk or -1 at the end of the name.
Then navigate to system folder and look for pad.prop. press the mount rw button then long press open in text editor. So now you need to remember where you found your chosen app, was it system or data? If system long press under then system header or if it was a data app look for the apps header. To paste your app name in the right place find a empty line, long press then paste. You need to add at the start of the line for your app pa.
Nearly there!
So next at the end you need to add .dd= and then your chosen dpi level.
So for example for apex, I have it as a system app and my line in pad.prop for apex looks like
pa.com.anddoes.launcher.dd=221
Then you need to press menu key, then save and exit. Restart your app and it should display how you want

Pad.PROP
pad.prop
BACKUP YOURS BEFORE JUST IN CASE YOU DON'T LIKE MINE!
A personal Pad.Prop setup, that I enjoy the most, when the rom starts up again, goto apex settings turn the sections: margrin size to "None" for both vertical and horizontal, then set your grid to something like 4x4 or 5x4 for both aswell, (the orginal size I believe is 4x4 but I like 5x4, and also I have searchbar locked into the homescreen like on a tablet, I feel this gives ME the perfect mix of tablet/phone.
No need to fix roaming, I was able to write it into the rom.
Mirror as you must, but when you do, let me know in a PM and I'll post them in the thread.
IF you have have any problems I would like to keep them in one place for fixing, try emailing me at [email protected] if you're email illiterate PM me from xda, but I prefer my email.
IF you still have problems with the dialer and all try changing all paranoid android settings to phone or phone stock, I MEAN ALL! And if that doesnt work:
, try downloading another dialer that isnt stock or Go
If you got it working then you can change the DPI settings around just im not sure which ones make the phone brink
Although I believe it is configure which you need to keep Phone(Stock) or tablet (stock)

Thanks I have fixed it now!
I ran into something with the market though a lot of apps aren't showing up. I have reasobto believe its from the density though hopefully can be fixed by tomorrow
I love the tablet UI! Rom booted up fine.
Edit: About phone in the settings causes it to crash.
Thanks, will give it a try.
I am looking into that, I personally am so angry about that. also did either of you two see if market seemed more empty then usual?
That would be nicer if you could put fm radio in the rom!

Yes, that's because the build.prop has this device as "One V", when it should be "HTC One V"

yeah. it is a known PA issue if it is ported on CM9. I've talked with one of the PA's builders, molesarecoming, and he said that if you take the latest PA files and put them onto a JB rom, the market issue will disappear.
If you want to not have market problems, take my pad.prop from the latest build. The status bar is stock but with much smaller dpi and I'm having a lot of apps forced into tablet mode from the start. That's how you will not have issues with the market. If you want to have the status bar down, like a tablet, you will have to: either modify the framework-res dpi when in that mode, or the systemUI, though the framework makes problems to the market.

your settings is crashing when you press the "About Phone?" can you send me your build.prop in a PM?
maybe i can help you with a fix.

Got it running Great Rom
superuser problem
When I try to change the format to stock UI in the paranoid settings it is saying that its not letting it grant super user permission change the outlook framework or any of the dpi settings. In other words root explorer won't work. I love it sure beats sense and the Rosie framework. please help me

The boot img is in the rom, just pull it right out and use the one in the zip, if that doesn't work let me know and I will see about posting it up there, but it should be that one if not I would need JMZ to port his boot.img back up from cm9 before I could, I cannot find it on my computer right now but it might be in one of the older files I have.
also try a wipe of Data, Cache, and system. to make sure that that is not the problem

Try checking your Superuser app, to see if you accidently denied it or if the Superuser app needs updating. If that does not work, try downloading another superuser app from the market and try doing what you were trying to do at the time, the problem occurred. If that does not work please try PMing me with as much info about it that you can, possibly a logcat while you attempt to do what you are trying to do. I will look into it from there.
Hello,
As you can see - we're back with the new ROM. AOSP ICS by MaclawStudio.
Today I want to show you some tips&tricks for our ROM.
EDIT: Added in alpha1
1. Camera on the lockscreen
In our ROM we changed default second lockscreen "target" from camera to mute button. We did it because we think it's more useful than camera.
If you prefer camera more than mute button on the lockscreen you can make following changes to your build.prop file:
- make a nandroid backup
- open /system/build.prop with your favourite text editor with root permissions
- add "ro.maclawstudio.cameratarget=true" key to your file (without quotes)
- save and reboot
Click to collapse
2. Apps and widgets together
In our ROM we changed the way launcher manages apps and widgets. Now you can't view your widgets with simply swiping your finger throught the pages of app drawer. We did it to improve launcher performance.
If you want to see apps and widgets together in your app drawer you can make following changes to your build.prop file:
- make a nandroid backup
- open /system/build.prop with your favourite text editor with root permissions
- add "ro.maclawstudio.joinwithapps=true" key to your file (without quotes)
- save and reboot
Click to collapse
EDIT: Added in beta1
3. Hide reboot menu
We added reboot menu to our ROM because it's really useful feature. If you prefer 100% pure AOSP - you should disable it, and now it's possible with simple changes in your build.prop file:
- make a nandroid backup
- open /system/build.prop with your favourite text editor with root permissions
- add "ro.maclawstudio.hidereboot=true" key to your file (without quotes)
- save and reboot
Click to collapse
4. Force launcher rotation
In my opinion - this tweak is almost useless if you don't like annoying features... You can still force your launcher to auto-rotate with simple changes in your build.prop file:
- make a nandroid backup
- open /system/build.prop with your favourite text editor with root permissions
- add "ro.maclawstudio.autorotation=true" key to your file (without quotes)
- save and reboot
Click to collapse
More tweaks comming soon!
Cheers, Marcin from MaclawStudio
wow, thanks i will try those ones
Add it to the end of the build.prop file?
I don't' understand why you would put the silent toggle on lockscreen in the place of the camera. Can you not simply silence you're device by long pressing the power button?
In this ROM is it safe to move a different launcher into the system and delete the stock launcher?
Guys are you continuing your cm10 rom ?
Sent from my GT-S5830 using xda premium
Venomous Viper 119, I think Maclaw and Marcin will not continue CM10, because there is already CM10 by Jellaxy
Hello,
A great colleague of mine who also owns a xperia S like me
loaded SlimNasomi rom (I think 4.2.2) and did change lcd DPI.
Screen displays more info and icons are smaller. Look nice.
Is it a way to do it with official 6.2.b.1.96 rom ?
I found a thread on a forum about root'ing the phone and
updating a file build.prop in /system, updating ro.sf.lcd_density
I even found an app 'Google Play DPI Fix Tool'
Did anyone already try to play with LCD DPI's ?
Thanks. Cheers from Belgium,
Thierry
I use Texdroider DPI - it worked on stock JB, rooted.

It changes build.prop to desired dpi. I use it because it's faster and it really works. I tried on stock ROM, OpenSEMC and letama's AOSP 4.3.
And what is the range of values to stay in to avoid an endless bootloop?
yes that's the question, What value did you use for. in .200 fw i used a lcd density changer soft (don't remember the name) and guess what i got endless loop. I used 244 or something like that.
I usually use 240 and I didn't have any problems with that dpi.
It is standard Android dpi so most apps work just fine. Stock ROM look good but it has some minor offsets (gradient in notification bar as far as I remember).
I have been talking about this in the themes section in an old thread. I keep seeing people have issues with the dpi apps. I personally just edit build prop manually as it is not hard. I use Anttek explorer for my file browsing and edits. I would also suggest you try Xposed framework and per app dpi module. The magic LCD number is 192 for tablet mode. If you set home to 160 it goes into tablet mode but the status bar will not combine at the bottom. There is also another xposed module that forces tablet mode and works well but is still buggy. You also loose small apps.
There is a way to force tablet mode with out the dpi change but I have to figure out how to do that and even then not sure it will actually work. Need to ask some smali experts to help me.
... and what about if in endless bootloop ? ... :crying:
You must make backup before any modifcations
Yea it is a great idea to have a backup when messing with the system. If something goes wrong you can just go back to where you started.
Hi all
I have been a xperia z ultra owner and really enjoyed screen space.our t2 is also having same display but dpi is set in way where in we dont have much space left.
So to have more space I did change built in prop dpi and manage to get good space.
Requirements
1 rooted phone
2 file explore which can edit built in prop (root explore is my favourite)
3.xposed fremwork inatalled
4. "App setting" module installed from xposed modules(to change phone dpi)
Before u start have a look at attached screenshot if you like then you can proceed.
Steps to tewake
1. Open file explorer and go to system/buildin prop(open it with text edit mode)
2. Now go to Al the way down and look for ro.sf.lcd_destiny:
3.by default it wod be 240 change it to 200 and save.
4.now reboot you will have much space on home
5. Now open xposed module app setting
6. Search for phone and do change DPI and screen(dp) as per sereen shot attached below also dont forget to check xlargeres
7. Save changes and reboot
All done
forget to mention
please clear xperia home data after reboot
Loved your tutorial.
But there's one thing, can it increase the battery consume? Or it will remain the same?

no it will remain the same
as a matter of fact some time you may see some speedy performance
how can i customizable the Softkeys (root available) i want smaller and transparent Softkeys
xposed can this, but its not workable in the moment... so i seach a alternate method
any idea?
+1, would love this. Changing the DPI of the whole system doesn't really provide the right results as things like the camera are then borked.
with Stock, the only one chance to change DPI without issue is with xposed but we have to wait, hopefully we get it workable. Or we get a fully working CM12.1 or AOSP or any of the both based.
so i hope we have a other way to customize Softkeys and other for the current situation
This flashable theme has a setting to enable 36 dpi navbar at least (you can change this setting independently of the other theme settings via Aroma installer).
if you have root available modify your build.prop and swiftkey will work normally.
Also don't forget to do this
"adb shell wm density reset"
if you have modified your dpi without root with adb before
edit
I'm sorry I must have misread Softkeys with Swiftkey...but anyway, i use 540 dpi and everything works fine
It's in the framework.apk , i'll check it out when i have the time . Easy thing to modify
The build prop lists soft keys color, but it is on hex and I dont know about it. Maybe someone could have a look.

I will add soon the option to change the navbar height to 24, 30, 36 and 42dp (stock) and the navbar icon size even for stock theme. If someone to learn how to do it the navbar size is set by framework-res.apk/res/values/dimens.xml line 21 and 22.

The navbar icons are vectordrawables. Details and codes for the icons here.
