I know the word 'best' is subjective, but I've been out of the KF2 modding scene for a while now and I'm looking for the most up to date, feature filled combo. I'm currently using: Kernel version 3.0.50+ [email protected] #16 & CyanogenMod Version 10.1-20130405-UNOFFICAL-otter2 & TWRP v2.3.3.0
I'm assuming all that stuff is extremely outdated. Looking for tips and suggestion. Thanks guys.

Hey guys and the NEWBIE (me) is back...
1. How do i get the SBC kernal??? I heard its a great kernal for extended battery life
2.How do i install it? I currently have CM7 installed as a rom
Thanks
Go search the Android Development section for AOSP kernels and find one that supports SBC. I think Savaged-Zen kernels and Tiamat kernels are the best and have sbc choices.

Bump +1 for kernel manager. Make sure you spell kernel correctly, else you may not find it. Free version works fine as a newbie user.
Thanks everyone
In general:
1) Dowload kernel to the root of your phone and boot into recovery
2) Wipe davlik
3) Wipe cache
4) Install kernel from the root of your phone and reboot
Go to "About Phone" to check the kernel
OR, download Kernel Manager.

jsantos, what the guys said above is a great start... not to fear-monger or anything, but do you know exactly what the kernel is, and the various types of kernels that are out there? I'm not one to discourage the use of any particular type of kernel/ROM, but before diving headfirst into it without really knowing the ups/downs of it, it'd behoove you to make sure you know what you're getting into. That being said, I dug up some links that should help you out.
Here is a link regarding SBC kernels that you probably should check out, as it pertains to potential major issues with them:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=890448
Here is a link to probably the best guide on explaining kernels for the EVO, brought to you by mroneeyedboh... this page explains the various categories of kernels, and how they affect your phone:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=894880
Finally, here is a link to a page written by skydeaner, containing testing and benchmark information on many many different kernels for the EVO (including SBC and non-SBC variants), which may help you determine which kernel is actually best for your needs:

Best of luck to you!

if you're looking for performance, then you're looking for a kernel not a rom probably. try out different kernels(or even ROMs), find the one that you and your device likes the best. there is no one right answer for what is the best kernel or ROM. i prefer the trinity kernel with the rasbean jelly ROM.

Thanks....that combination was next on my list to try.....
I am looking for the most popular kernels currently being used.
I'm hoping for something extremely stable, crazy battery life, and as universal as possible.
I'm not looking for tweaks for the most part. I don't see the need (for me at least) for over/under clocking, over/under volting, etc. I just need a good strong/stable kernel with good battery life so i know what ROMs will work best with the kernel of my choosing.
Thanks guys.
current phone specs are as follows:
Android 4.1.2
Baseband: L710VPBMB1
Kernel Version: 3.0.31-944783 -- [email protected]#1
Build Number: Wicked Sensations v3.1 MB1
Hardware: L710.14
TWRP Recovery -- installed today

Just go try the kernels... Asking questions like this is dumb, especially when there are no more than 5 kernels for our device, just go try them and see which works best for you

Yes, there are only a few. Make sure to use the proper kernel for your ROM, be it a Touchwiz (TW) ROM or an AOSP type ROM (all non-TW ROMs). With that there are even less than Flastnoles11 mentioned. And they are all the best and stable for those using them as you can see by reading the kernel threads. So try each out for a day or two and see which works best for you. Plenty of help in the kernel threads as well as for governor and scheduler settings.
I have been running PAC man ROM which is fantastic.
However it keeps saying there is a new nightly update, but every time I click on it I get the message Tyler broke something. I am running build 2013913
I am running 4.3 pacman rom. Is there a newer link to go and download for this. If so please post the link. Have they stopped working on 4.3 versions? Is there a 4.4 out yet? My note is the n7105
My second real concern is that my kernel is 3.0.64-cmG64714068

I'd like to know what better kernel is there out there to be running with pacman and if there is one with fast charge?
Also if there is a more recommended kernel out there please tell me how I go about changing it. I Have CWM and am happy and confident enough to install a zip in recovery.
If anyone could help me above with links to the latest Pacman version and also a better KERNAL and instructions how to change kernels.
Also, what's happened with that website root galaxy note 2 dot com. He hasn't updated in months.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I'd love to get this note 2 cranking even harder.
Also what's the best performance settings to have this on?
Cheers guy. I've used this place as a bible for years but only just signed up. Answers in full would be greatly appreciated.

I never used PAC MAN ROM so I can't answer to the first... But I have a GT-N7105 and the only two kernels for 4.3+ ROMS that I know about are Agni Kernel and Devil Kernel... Agni Kernel I think it's closer to stock... For me: Better battery and overalll performance/stability. And then you have Devil Kernel. This one it's a bit different.. It alows you to have 2 ROMs in the same phone... Dual Boot. It's more customable I think... In terms of findind the better settings I suggest you to read the thread... I know they're both long... But changing values in kernel can be extremely dangerous... So you should know what you're doing... To installl or change the kernel you usuallly just have to flash it trough recovery and it is highly recommended that you Wipe Cahce AND Dalvic Cache after... On agni kernel you even have a "CleanerTool" but usually you don't need it...
*Ahem*
Hello everyone. I'm rather new to the android hacking scene and I've got a few questions for those who might be bothered to answer. First off, the BLU advance 4.0 doesn't seem compatible with anything. From custom bootloaders to custom roms.
I've found next to no information regarding compatible interfaces with this phone. Am I doing something wrong? Is there a bastion of roms and applications that I've simply been unable to find?
I would really love to load custom roms onto this phone, I've got it rooted and everything is set and ready to go. I just can't seem to find any compatible roms :/
I appreciate all help, thank you guys so much in advance.

Your device is unsupported mate!
Hopefully you can find someone to help you with cooking a rom for your needs!
This forum section is dedicated to the Paranoid Android team and ROM. Your device is not supported by this rom or team, so you would be better off finding a generic devices section here on XDA to make your request.
