You know theres a "Incoming calls" selection in blocking mode? Just turn blocking mode on when you dont want to be interrupted

I don't want to disable calls from coming in to the phone I just don't want them taking over the phone completely.
whatever you're in
the Galaxy s5 has a pop up screen that overlay any app your in.

So I forgot about a mod I came across in the International forums that actually enables it. Some people were claiming it worked great, few others said it was kinda buggy, Its actually really simple to do by decompiling the secphone and making a few changes. Itll only take like 5 minutes to do so if you want to post a copy of your secphone.apk I'll hook it up and you can try it out for yourself. Youre gonna have to be atleast rooted tho

How to make a number ring in silent mode?

I now have my apartment buzzer come to my cell phone and I would like people to be able to buzz me if there is an emergency at night when I have my phone in silent mode. Is there any way I can make an exception for the number of the buzzer so it always plays the ringtone even when in silent mode?
Thanks in advance.
Tasker can be programmed to play a ring tone and switch the sound on your handset on when setting numbers are calling.
Swiftkey'ed on my CM9 Galaxy Nexus
You may want to edit the title to make it easier to understand.
If you are in the US, Google voice can do that for you. It doesn't even matter what kind of phone you have. Look into it

Thanks for the replies. I am in Canada so Google Voice is no go and I will look into tasker... there has to be some way to do it in stock JB...
I don't want my GF showing up at night an dnot being able to buzz herself in because my phone is on silent.

No there is no way to do it on "stock JB". You need a 3rd party app.
Why not give your GF the gate code?????

It is just a buzzer box at the front of the condo building. Everyone has to be buzzed in I think... I don't think there is a code that can be put it that would allow someone in.

Sooo how do YOU get in if no one is home? Do you still need to push the buzzer and it calls your phone and you have to press a button on your phone??? lol if so, that's ridiculous.

Hey, it looks like you've already started a thread about this in the generic sgs3 forum. Let's answer some questions:
What network is your s3 on?
Is your phone on the stock samsung ICS or have you flashed something else?
Have you tried plugging your phone into the samsung Kies software to get an update?
Let's start there. The more information you can provide the better.

Phone > Menu > Call settings > Accessory settings for call
Make sure Automatic answering is turned off.

Ive tried turning off different settings. Im aware of ALL settings in this phone and have still not been able to remedy this...
Latest update....
Did the phone ever answer properly?
Sounds like automatic answering is on (even though you've confirmed it isn't) , or you have some kind of app that is interfering with the answer in process. As much as it's a pain, I'd backup important data (contacts, sms message history, bookmarks, game saves, pictures etc) and do a full factory reset:
Go to Settings
Privacy
Factory Data Reset
Reset Phone
Erase Everything
It would bring your phone back to day 1 and possibly correct a software glitch. I'm not confident that it would work but I would try it to be sure.
I cant remember if it ever did...
Im gonna wait till after the JB update to see if that changes anything. I turned off "answer with home button" and it didnt do it last call so maybe that worked?
I have no idea.
Factory reset is prolly the best option though
I subscribed to your thread because my wife's AT&T S3 does the exact same thing. Very frustrating because mine does not do it. Might have to try the factory reset as well.
yeah, its pissing me off.
It seems to only happen when i dont want to answer that persons call!

did that yesterday and it seems to be working thus far..
thx
It would be funny if the ringtone was being picked up and triggering the voice cmd..... kinda pathetic
Reminds me of my friend, who had sensor enabled and big paws. When he was dialing one of his fingers would come close to sensor, and screen would go black. He had SGS3 from Sprint. I disabled screen off - he was the happiest man ever!
I never would have thought of the voice command answer setting. Never used the feature myself. You'd think it would have some kind of noise canceling feature to prevent that from happening, or at least a prompt telling you that ring tones may interfere. Funny stuff.
Well at least if it's solved you don't have to wipe

[Q] Potential Design Flaw / Dropped call or hang up

Hi All,
I got the Tmobile Note 2 couple days ago and have been slowing increasing my usage. I have discovered a problem that I would need to the community to help me resolve to identify if I have a bad phone, or it maybe a more serious design flaw.
First, I have repeatedly able to pinpoint the problem: If you are using the hotspot that T-mobile provides for you, and you are tethering with your device; when someone calls you and you accept the call, the chances of the phone hanging up on its own without any human interaction increases dramatically if there are connections using the hotspot, i.e. Another device connecting/disconnecting from the hotspot, or lots of data traffic, etc...
The dropped calls looks likes the phone just hung up the line in the middle of a phone call. To me, the "dropped call" can be anywhere between 5 seconds to 5 minutes. I was able to repeat this issue at least 10 times in a row already and thus my concern. I have identified and replicated this problem at many many different location with many many different signal strengths, indoor, outdoor, in the car, on the can... etc....
If you guys can repeat this problem, let us know, because I do not realize any limitation of simultaneous of using the hotspot feature and the voice calling radio.
thanks ALL!
Just wanted to report back:
I just got back from the tmobile store with a brand new Note 2, and when I tested in store, guess what?
It happened the same way on the new device!!!
I'm pretty sure that it is either the design flaw of the Note 2, or there is something wrong with the build of Tmobile or JB.
Nevertheless, I hope some experts can point out what can be done to resolve this, and maybe people who have flashed to the custom roms can see if they can replicate the problem.
Basically, turn on Hotspot, connect a tethering device to the hotspot, call the phone on another line, answer the call, then disconnect a device from the hotspot.
Chances are the phone will automatically hang up the call after the first couple of tries of connecting and disconnecting the tether devices.
Thank you!
similar problem

There are some serious flaw in the software/hardware in this phone. I have been able to replicate this problem with 100% success. Just go and turn hotspot on, and tell someone to call you, soon enough the phone will hang up the call.
I'm thinking hard of just not needing such a big screen and go for a nexus 4 instead.

I have experienced this problem with almost every network and phone.... Not necessarily the T-mobile app but tethering apps in general... Even if your device supports data and voice I have experienced this with pretty much all apps but I don't know if it's just me or what.... I don't really have a problem with it as I don't accept calls when I'm tethering anyways... Just my .02 cents

Well, for me its slightly different....
1. Wifi calling enabled and activated (blue icon)
2. if someone calls me 5, 10 , 15 min etc... later, the caller hears silence and the phone does not ring.
3. happens every damn time. I plan on calling tmobile about this....
4. the only time it works is if i make an outbound call, and within a couple mins someone can call me.. but if the phone sits there for more than a few min.. nobody can call me.
I was in a call when someone else called in and the phone froze up happend several times im really considering returning this phone

Incoming calls going to full screen while in other apps

Hi there,
My Note7 is awesome, love it, but when I'm using other apps like google maps for instance and I answer a call the dialer goes to fullscreen. This didnt happen on my Note5 or S6, they had the caller kind of floating on the screen. Any ideas how to fix this? This single issue will make me go back to my Note5 as I use my phone as my GPS all the time!
Thanks
Same here. I need that pop up incoming call screen. I miss turns. I lose towers in my clash royale. It's a sever pain in the ass.

Galaxy s3 watch, silence phone while wearing watch option gone after update.

After latest update, I cannot find the option to silence the phone while watch is worn.
Called samsung, searched the net. There's nothing in patch notes I could find. This is Paramount to me. I don't want my phone to make noise as me and gf sleep different. So my phone will wake her before she's ready if it's audible. But I can't remember to turn sound back on while watch is charging.
Please help.

same here....seem they remove more function every time they update.... it's just becoming an expensive digital watch.....
the amount of feature at the beginning are reduced.... Samsung are you listening?
Why remove a highly useful feature? Did it have bugs? Why can't anyone at Samsung tell me it was removed? I called support several times and not one person could even tell me the feature existed before this update.
