It'll be released by another GSM carrier (not at&t) within the next couple months.

How familiar are you with Mobile City Online? Is this a legit company? Has anyone reading this purchased from them before? I will e-mail them to ask what information they have on the unlocked US version. I must say I am very skeptical about this and wouldn't recommend anyone give them any credit card information until confirming this is legit.
I bought my N95 from them. Apparently they have an actual store in New York too. Good prices and a good google shop rating.
Hi,
I bought the Touch Pro 2 from them. I already got it.

That sounds pretty promising unless they just listed the specs wrong (or unless I read them wrong). Quad band 3G would be nice because I'm at ATT right now and I plan on moving to TMobile soon, but I could come back to ATT someday.
one quick question...
i got the TP2 european version unlocked
i live in NY.. and using Tmobile right now..
when they realease the phone here in the US
will i be able to get 3g service on my phone?
thanks.

Euro version of the TP2 will not work on either ATT or Tmobile (US) 3G service.
So you're stuck with crappy EDGE on that phone.
thanks for the quickreply man!

You must have the European version without support for 3G in the states. They are selling both versions and are showing the European version in stock. They say they have no ETA for the US version. Looks like they sell the Euro TP2 on their site and via Amazon.com. Amazon has them rated at 94-96% positive feedback.

I have picked up a few phones from them. Original touch pro when it came out, also imate ultimate when it came out. I also have picked up my touch pro from their shop in the city. Very nice store. EVERYTHING is on display to play with which is cool as hell! As far as releases, they are usually spot on when they have a pre-order with a release date, the ones with NO ETA are kinda up in the air. I've gotta call them for more info. I never even knew there was an unlocked version of the TP2 coming out from HTC unbranded that would allow full 3G in the USA!
Hello All,
I went through this from the google playstore support site:
"Galaxy Nexus devices purchased on Google Play are unlocked GSM/HSPA+ devices.
1.The unlocked Galaxy Nexus requires GSM compatible service provider for voice calling. In the United States this includes AT&T and T-Mobile. Phones purchased from devices on Google Play are not compatible with Verizon or Sprint.
2.High speed data access requires a compatible 3G/4G HSPA+ cellular data service provider such as AT&T and T-Mobile."
Will this Nexus work in India with GSM and HSPA Networks (Noob question )?
Yes it most certainly will work.
Why not ?? It is world GSM umts phone and certainly works . I am currently using it.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
Yes it will, it has all the 3g bands which are there in the world ...
I know someone who uses maguro full time in india....enjoy!

If you've got a GSM carrier then yes, its unlocked and supports all the frequencies you need. Its the exact same as the i9250 that's been for sale for over 5 months now. There is nothing special about the hardware.
But the Play Store isn't shipping outside of the US. Check out importers that will sell to India.
whats a good radio for India? My buddy was asking the other day. would XXLA2 work?

try them all starting with the latest ones and find the one that suites best for you.
just because one radio is good for someone doesn't mean it will have the same results for you.
i'd start off with xxla02 then uglc1, etc etc
all radios work. just dont flash CDMA radios (Verizon + sprint)

OTA update is the question. Even I'm thinking to buy galaxy nexus. In Indian, Sammy won't be releasing.
We got 3g carriers(Vodafone,airtel).
Even with the PC companion we should receive updates right?
GNex will keep on receiving updated no matter which country you are in. Only thing is that, there are multiple builds of the GNex. The one with 'yakju' and 'takju' will receive the updates directly via Google. Rest of the builds will get their updates via Samsung and hence it might takes a bit of time.
And yes,you can use 3G services in India. I'm using the same on my Gnex.
when does canadiam career sgs3(i747m) get jellybean update?
Unless you are in Eastern Europe where JB is already rolling out or work for AT&t, TMobile or Verizon then the answer is "coming soon".
You can be sure that once it does, it will be all over the interwebs.

I am looking to buy the international version and not the AT&T pretty much for the sole purpose of receiving timely updates which AT&T doesn't have a good record of. I do not care about not having LTE either.
This may be a stupid question, but does anyone know with certainty that the international will get the updates when having a AT&T sims installed?

Yes. You will get the update. It does not matter what sim you have in there. I had the original international Note and was using ATT sim. I did get the updates.
Posted this in the TMobile release thread but hasn't gotten any responses (might be the wrong place for such a question). Someone on another place I frequent posted this and I'm wondering if it's something one should be concerned about or if the bands missing are pretty much useless and won't make a difference to me? If it will be an issue for me, I will return the phone and wait for the official AT&T one to be released.
Thanks!
It will work in tmobile, yes. But won't you be losing some bands cricket/att use? I use cricket too and was trying to get the international model for this reason. With the tmobile version your missing some of the 3g and LTE bands that att uses.

Thanks for asking this question as I am bout to do the same. Just want to be sure that I will be OK w the T-Mobile phone on AT&T. I live in NY and will be using the phone mostly in the USA. If anyone has done this, your feedback would be appreciated!

Looking at your list, if you use a T-Mobile G4 on AT&T you will not get LTE bands 5 or 29, or GSM 850/900/1800.

I know but my question is will this degrade performance or affect my ability to use data and voice, etc.? I don't understand anything about bands.

AT&T uses bands 2/4/5/17/29/30 for LTE and 850/1900 for GSM. If you use a T-Mobile G4 on AT&T, going by your first post, you will not get LTE bands 5 or 29 or 850 for GSM.
This means is you will not be able to take advantage of AT&T's 850MHz LTE or 700MHz lower D/E LTE spectrum, or 850MHz GSM. AT&T's main bands are 5 and 17, so in some areas you will get reduced LTE performance, especially indoors and when far from the tower. You may run into markets that you only get 2G/3G in as well if they are using only bands 5 and/or 29.
In short, it will work, but it's not ideal.

The B/I/U text is the answer I was looking for. I appreciate it.
I'm going to rock it for a few days until the AT&T phone comes out and return the T-Mobile one since I have 14 days to do so.

Depending on your market, you may be perfectly fine, since you have the T-Mobile version I'd wait and see how happy you are with the service. The AT&T G4 costs a lot more.
Well, it just came. So I'll test it out with my Cricket SIM and see how it goes. But I'm leaning towards swapping it out.
Update, probably last one.
1) Put my Cricket SIM into the new LG G4.
2) Got a message saying phone was locked to network. Call support to get it unlocked.
3) Called support and they said because I don't have a T-Mobile account, they cannot unlock it. I'd need to go through a 3rd party to do that. BUT, if I do that, I can no longer return the phone.
I'm not going to bother with 3rd Parties and will just get an AT&T phone which will allow me to use my Cricket SIM without issue, plus have all of the missing bands. So, I am starting the return process on my T-Mobile LG G4, unless someone wants to buy it from me?
thanks for reporting all this. I'm on att but am out of contract, deciding if i upgrade to the att g4 or switch to tmo and upgrade there.
still not decided but I'm definitely not going to run the tmo on att, because my signal at home is 1 bar of lte if I'm lucky. the only hold back is obviously the bootloader. I've never had a stock phone for more than a day, eeesh.

No problem. That's why we're all here.
Same here. Now that I'm going to be waiting till June 5th for the G4 (AT&T release date), I'm hoping some progress is made in the next week for unlocking the bootloader. Must have root (for XPosed and a bunch of other apps).

I spoke to the guy at my local AT&T store who said they aren't doing an official pre-order but that he'll put me on the list to reserve one and I'll come get it when it arrives.
Man, I'm so indecisive lol. This is by far the 'craziest' a phone has gotten me since smart phones were invented.
I scrapped my plan of getting an AT&T H810 (which would work perfectly with my Cricket SIM) and decided to spend a tad bit more ($60 or so) and get a fully unlocked H815 model that has all the AT&T bands + others. Ordered it on EBay, should be here by the 4th which is actually a day earlier than the AT&T release (which is June 5th).
