English version sales in HK

The English version sales in Hong Kong this time has multiple language input method. All UI is in English but on the keyboard there is a key for user to switch between Chinese & English input method. The English fonts is standard Tahoma but the Chinese fonts is AR HeiU20 Medium (grey) which is very ugly. I suggest any user change the Chinese Fonts and I found that SC_Song is the best.
Moved Post To General Forum.
Especially with the title i can't directly see if it needs to be in Rom Development?

I think the default Chinese font is fine.
But if you want some Chinese fonts, contace me, I can send you some since I'm using Chinese Vista plus English MUI.
To change the font, just put the font in "\Windows" and make some changes in "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\FontLink\SystemLink"

Hey, I like how HTC applied new chinese input methods for english systems. But they didn't provide any transcribe method. Any good software suggestions? Will CE-Star conflict with the new input methods? Thanks for any help!

Did you mean Chinese hand-writing IME ?
Though I rarely use, but I‘ve got some, like 漢王手寫(HangWang Hand-writing), 三星手寫(SAMSUNG), 蒙恬手写(PenPower), etc..
of course when you search for these IMEs, you'd better Google them with Chinese keywords or it will return less results.
BTW: In fact, I'm now using the Chinese font in official Diamond ROM on my Pro2. It's better than the default Chinese font.

Hey, thanks! Nice to talk to members with the same backgrounds. He he he... Your information is very useful.
What's the difference in the fonts? Is the Diamond one better? any screen dumps?
Did you guys get a CE-Star install CD with your English version TP2?
hi, Singaporean Chinese here. We have the A4 chinese input method installed by default on the Rhodium. Noticed that I cannot input 'PinYin' using the hardware Qwerty keyboard and have to use the touchscreen kb.
How about HKG? Do you have the same software? If yes, is this a software limitation?

Nope, didn't get the CS-Star CD. Because you are able to use the keyboard to input chinese words.
You have 4 options:
1. ZhuYin
2. PinYin
3. CangJie
4.Stroke
I don't know why they didn't provide a transcribe version, so I can just write on the screen. I am no good with the keyboard.
I want to install CE-Star but don't know if it will conflict with current Chinese inputting methods.

Try installing CE-Star v2.8 R3c.
From what I read previously, Diamond2 was bundled with CE-Star despite having Chinese support, but I don't know anyone with one in person to confirm this.

Updated to latest German Firmware ALJ3, lost handwriting recognition with US kb

Updated to the latest German BTU ALJ3 firmware, everything is GREAT except one problem. The handwriting recognition only works on the 3 preinstalled keyboard language packs in the firmware, German, (English)UK and I think Korean. I downloaded the (English)US keyboard language, everything works except no handwriting recognition window option.
Any help guys? :crying:
I'm using the UK English keyboard right now, as far as I can tell it works and looks the same as the US version. Any difference I should be concerned about? It's strange that handwriting recognition is missing with the US Keyboard with this firmware.

Same happened to me. I lost my polish handwriting recognition toggle. Any idea how to recover it?
UP!
I have the same problem on the stock ALJ2 (my phone hasn't even been rooted yet). By deleting Samsung Keyboard's cache and data and adding just the language you want afterward, you can force it to do handwriting recognition in that language. However, the moment you add one of the stock languages (German or English (UK)) it hijacks the handwriting recognition again and it only works for that language from that point on.
It definitely looks like a bug. I hope Samsung fixes this in the next update. Has anyone submitted a bug report yet?

[Q] Handwriting recognition for Ex-Yugoslavian languages

I have searched for this on the internet but can't find any useful info.
Since one week I'm proud owner of Note 2. It's a fantastic phone. There is just one rather big problem I'm having with this phone.
I have a stock phone and I would like to use handwriting recognition for different languages. I have added and updated English, Dutch and Croatian. It is possible for me to write with S pen when I select English or Dutch. But when I select Croatian, the handwriting option in the menu disappears and I can only choose to use on-screen keyboard or speak-to-text recognition.
By the way. I need to use handwriting recognition for writing: SMS / Whattsapp / E-mail mainly.
I really need Note 2 to be able to write text in any Ex-Yugoslavian language (Bosnian, Croatian, Serbian), preferably Bosnian or Croatian. Does anyone know if a solution exists for this problem?? It would help me very much to use my phone to it's full extent.
One maybe important piece of information. My phone is an international GT-7100 version.
Tried:
- So you just know when I try to write serbo-croatian, with English or Dutch selected, the phone just tries to change the words to English or Dutch. So this is not a workable solution...
Bump!
I would like to know this too... Writing in english is perfect on this phone. But most of my sms i send in Serbian (or serbo-croatian, whatever you like)..
@OP : pozdrav tebra
I have the same issue with Lithuanian language. However I have checked on other phone with exact same software version and settings and it had the functionality. No idea what Im missing - any help appreciated.

Thanks. So, regardless of where I buy it, I can switch to Japanese language easily? Can it recognise hand writing?

Same problem in snote. When you try to convert handwriting to text the app just closes. Math formula function is working though.
No solution but not an issue for me as I never used the function in the past 9 months
Only in Dutch?
I am a very happy user of the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition and yesterday l finally upgraded my device to Android Kitkat 4.4.2. l live in Belgium (Dutch region) and since the upgrade for The Netherlands is still not available I downloaded the firmware for France on the website of SamMobile, using Odin 3.09 to flash the system as described.
All went well during the upgrade and after only a few minutes l could enjoy all features of kitkat on my tablet. The device seems to work very smoothly and fast, there are no hickups or whatsoever.
There's only one issue, and for me that's a major one: the s-pen! It seems to be impossible to use handwriting for text input when in Dutch. When using French or English there's no problem at all, handwriting works just fine and even faster and more accurate than before, but as soon as I switch languages to Dutch it all goes wrong. It seems to me that the handwriting function for Dutch is simply not supported since I cannot find the icon for stylus input when in Dutch too. I do find icons for voice-input (the microphone), smilys, splitted keyboard and settings, but no handwriting icon. As soon as I change language on the keyboard to English or French, the handwriting option appears alongside the others. So my guess is this issue is not related to the Kitkat-upgrade itself but to the fact this upgrade is not foreseen to be used in a Dutch region. I don't know if there's a solution, besides waiting for the official firmware upgrade for an region (Belgium, which is mostly included in the Luxemburg-version and the Netherlands). l hope there will be an upgrade for these regions very soon, l use the handwriting function a lot and if it would take too long I will be forced to downgrade my device to the previous version again., which would be a bummer.
For the other people who started this thread: what version did you guys install, where did it come from, for which region is it meant and what languages are you using when encountering those s-pen issues? Is the problem similar to mine or do you also have problems using the s-pen when in English or French? Just to find out what could be the cause of all pain...
Please, when leaving feedback add this info to your message: region of the upgrade and language(s) you're using when encountering the s-pen issues.
Thanks in advance & regards,
Rudy (Belgium)
Jep, language is the problem. When I try to set a language for handwriting in input settings, settings crash and I'm back on the home screen.
[E] problem solved: you need to update your language packs. Go to settings/language&input and then enter the Samsung keyboard settings there press "+ select input language" and then you should see a little "update" button next to your downloaded languages. Hit those buttons for the languages you use and after the update handwriting recognition should be fine again. Hope that wasn't too complicated
