Hello everyone, I just moved from Motorola atrix to this incredible device, rooted it and unlocked the boot loader and now I need a good ROM.I tried the BuglessBeast and now i'm on AOKP .
Can someone suggest me a good ROM for it's performance and stability (stock look if it's possible) and a good kernel for it? I'm not asking for "the best ROM", I would just like some suggestions from you.
pure android 4.2

If all your research tells you that the rom controls oc, then it's not for you, stay away from it for now.

using dax fnv aosp and its the shiz... and stock 4.2 was fast for me
You can use stock 4.2 ,just flash a custom kernel which is what actually allows the over clocking. Franco kernel is good. Then download a CPU control app from the play store.

The pacman ROM is pretty decent, you should go with a 4.1.X ROM because Google did an ehh job with 4.2 test away though, some ROMs are much different than they look
Sparx639
Isn't the pacman ROM in alpha stage?? That means it's not stable :-/

I'm running CodenameAndroids 3.6 rom, and I haven't found one I like better yet. Tons of customization options. Love the navigation bar options and options to add and change swipe up shortcuts. I'm running Franco's kernel too, but haven't tried oc'ing. Not much of a gamer, so I don't feel the need.
What kind of franco's kernel? I mean experimental or stable? Any kind of oc?(cpu and gpu)
I'm running Milestone 6 stable. I'm pretty sure u can OC but to what IDK.
Now im using BuglessBeast and franco's stable kernel...i don't know if i'm crazy but some games are still laggy:-/ like Dungeon Hunter 3. What's the probleeem ?!?
I am in a similar position and didn't want to start another thread.
I am getting a used GNex tonight...
My start point is a Nexus S with CM10 nightlies and the Marmite kernel. Having Used CM7, CM9 and CM10 on 2 different devices, my temptation is to go for CM10 again. I am not a heavy user and don't play games on a phone, but the most important think to me is battery life (with smoothness a close second of course)..
Can someone please recommend me a battery saving kernel with CM10?
Or another good ROM / kernel combo?
TIA.
Sorry - I realise that I just killed a panda
Can anybody tell me if faux's kernels are OK?

I want to do the same thing
I want my stock ROM but with a kernel that provides good battery life and also want to root for some applications to work
But I am relatively new to nexus
Can you please provide me any link for this because I haven't found any thread which is just about changing kernel
All of them gives you guidelines about flashing kernel with custom recovery

Has anyone tried any of these ROMs for a decent amount of time, and can suggest which one is the most stable. The AOKP one apparently has an issue where all of the apps get wiped, and the CM10 ones have a quiet notification sound issue. Anyone that has used both can you please let me know your experiences?

I use ROM from Vijendrahs version 4.5, and I basically satisfied. All of its updates (4.6, 4.7, 4.7.1) do not work. When I install ROM, phone is loaded and I receive "System UI has stopped".

Hello,
I've tryed all this ROM's for one week all.
Biggest issues:
AOKP : i had alot of soft reboots.
CM10: Nothing, only a little bit slow.
CM10.1 : Perfect, only phone gets really hot.
Also , i tried the BCM, link : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1403113
I think that is the most stable, and best ROM for the HTC Desire.

Thanks for the reply, that was exactly what i was looking for. I think im going to flash cm10.1.
Actually i used to use BCM (with m2sd). I used it for a couple months, and it was very stable however one day
it froze and rebooted, and all my apps were gone.
Right now im running this paranoid android port:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1859541
Its really slow but the only reason im sticking with it is because it works great with m2sd.
When you used CM10.1 did you use m2sd? If so, did it work well?
Hey Everyone! please tell me which is the most stable sense and non sense rom??? Which rom and kernel combination is the best?? I have already checked out the similar threads but most of them are outdated so please help me out thanks
I can't speak for Sense ROMs but I've been running Chillybean's CM10 ROMs for the past few months -- only a few bugs with sound and reboots up until the most recent 20130929 build (CM10.2 / JB 4.3).

All of chillybeans's 4.3 roms that is cm10.2 beanstalk 4.3 don't have working gsm if you want gsm I would recommend Leoposas's Zoe Rom its cm10.1 and runs really great
I saw this thread on how to enable gsm on Verizon mobiles running up to 4.4 but I tired to use it on chillys PacRom 4.3....
I wonder if am doing it all right or does the rom have no gsm support at all
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2394689
well it really all depends if you like sense or if you like aosp or aokp. if you just want a good rom for daily basis id suggest a sense rom. if you're into customization then more than likely you're gonna want to go with aosp or aokp. but with you using gsm those roms are kinda iffy seeing as a lot of them for gsm use are still in the works. if you do want an aosp rom tho id suggest cm7 i do believe for most builds they do have gsm working or you can try the global roms made for gsm or that Zoe rom if you're wanting to be on jellybean. ive got cdma so my options arent as limited. hope this helps in some way.
You should all try Chillybean's fly-CM10.2 its really fast and smooth and has working gsm its 4.3
Yeah its a pretty cool rom. Still having a bit of problems in the cm source tho like with screenshots and torch but its definitely worth check out.
---------- Post added at 11:48 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:32 PM ----------
And the thing with the gsm patch even tho it says it will enable gsm on verizon cdma phones doesnt mean it will work on all devices and patches dont always fix the problem if its deeper upstream related. Hope this helps.
Downloaded and flashed chillys cm10.2 minus the screenshot problem, absence of nav bar, buggy status bar when using xposed tinted status bar....its an awesome smooth ROM, a nic bream from the constant reboots of the 4.2 ROMs.
Thanks for the info
I've tried all of Chilly's ROMs, and the most stable for me is 10.2 (4.2.2) Slim Bean. All of the others eventually slow down and require frequent reboots. At this point, I don't know if it's something in the rom, or the B-Team kernel, but I think I've settled into SlimBean with the "stock" Chilly-evervolv kernel. It's the fastest/snappiest, and hopefully stays that way.
The only thing I'm missing is the CM Voice+ app.
I'm not sure which post I found it in, but this stock rom minus most Verizon crud is called
6.01.605.05_VZW__OTA-stripped-odex.zip
It's stabled but not "new".

The fly one is modded fly is the name of the mod whereas the other is pure stock. Look up fly mod in the Android development section for details of the mod

What do you mean by the "stock" chilly-evervolv kernel? I've been searching for a bit and can't find it. I've had the same issue with the slowdowns and I'd like to give this one more shot before reverting back to the sense roms.

"Stock" in this case means the kernel that comes with Chilly's 10.2 slim bean, as opposed to a kernel like B-team that you have to download and flash separately.
Hi xda,
I'm the kind of guy that just wants something tried, tested and true. I rooted and flashed my phone when I first got it to Jedi Mind Trick v6 which was new back then. My Kernel is 3.0.41-T989-ICS-faux123-008
But as of recently I've been experiencing lots of freezing and random reboots. It's about time I get a new Rom and maybe Kernel if necessary.
I know there are a bunch out there and I simply want a stable version of a ROM that's clean, simple and fast, and a Kernel that optimizes battery life I guess. No experimental nightly test builds and what not cause very likely this may be my last upgrade before I decide I'm scrapping this phone. This is basically a last chance upgrade to see if I can still push out another year on this phone.
What are the top few choices/combinations of rom/kernel you guys would recommend?
If I remember the process correctly, I need to backup everything on titanium backup, use some darkwipe thing to clear everything, then flash the new rom, then google now in that development mode right? It's been so long, let me know if the process is made easier or something now lol
Thanks!
My wife uses cm 10.1.2 it's stable, fast, everything works. Wipe from custom recovery, flash cm, flash gapps, then factory reset.
The most stable ROM for the t989 is stock 4.1.2 or a stock touchwiz based ROM. No doubt.
Otherwise, backup first, and flash a few and see.
Everyone's opinions will vary. So find out what's best for you!!
---------- Post added at 10:38 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:35 PM ----------
And please....read the rom flashing instructions and entire opening posts carefully and follow them exactly.
No, don't use Darkside wipes....they are outdated.
^ This. Plus, I tend to avoid any where the first few pages, or the last few pages are all "IT DOESN'T WORK!" kinds of posts. Keep in mind, how you use your phone will change your experience vs another members. Happy Flashing!

Flashing an AOSP ROM might mess up your recovery
Check out the link from the Nexus 5 forums

Warning about Lollipop AOSP ROMs. - broken recovery
It doesn't make your phone unusable. You can easily reflash a recovery thru ADB. So idk how this is a big deal?
Nobody said it was a big deal, just a heads up.
Not flashing 5.0 AOSP ROMs on the G3 can be consider sinful. !
but thanks for the heads up tho !
You guys speak as if there are already AOSP 5.0 ROMS for the g3.. Did I miss something?
Pretty sure this is nothing new with 5.0. Other devices have employed similar methods for awhile now.
Never mind, I see now. The concern is this functionality included in the AOSP base code. Got it.

This...are there AOSP roms for the TMobile LG G3 that I'm not aware of. I'd be running it right now if its stable and you know, in existence.
There are some people who have AOSP versions, as all as cm12 versions for the d851 running, however they aren't daily drivers. To my knowledge though, nothing has been posted to download and test out.

Does that mean... If im switching from say LiquidSmooth on my D851 lg g3 to a lollipop ROM do i need to follow the regular process of..... Going into twrp, doing full wipe, flashing lollipop zip, (flash supersu???), and reboot.
Or does something else need to be done when switching?
I've tried 3 different lollipop roms and even restored backups without any issues. Just make sure to delete old backups if you update Twrp for any reason.
