[Q] Sound problem - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

There is a massive sound problem with my device which appeared at first when i was using DN3 ROM with stock kernel.
The audio is fine with speakers but using headphones there is loud buzzing sound due to which I am unable to hear any music.
I changed the Rom , the kernel but the problem persisted . Reboots doesn't fix this problem . I tested if the earphones are at fault or not but they worked fine with other devices , using different earphones too but same problem persisted.
At times it would get fixed randomly but again the problem would reappear again and again.
I'm currently using Phantom Rom with Agni kernel on my note 2 .
Does anyone has any idea how to fix this ?

Have you gone back tom your previous rom which it last worked on?
The socket may be faulty. You could try putting some cleaning alcohol on a cotton cue tip and rub inside to clean contacts.

Yes i even went to pure stock but same problem.. And on any new ROM flash the headphones/earphones work for a while but the problem resurfaces in a few days.
I will try to clean the insides with cleaning alcohol.

Well try flashing any other kernel and change the cpu governer to luzactiveq
N raise minimum cpu freq to 300

I had the same non-stop vibration error when I receive whatsapp notifications, I'm now disabling vibration as I'm too lazy to diagnose the problem. Can you describe your phone condition? we might have the same setup
Mine is :
Stock ROM I8150DXLA2
V6 supercharged
CWG's OC kernel
Crt-animation enabled
Framework-res.apk and systemui.apk self-modified
And some more tweaks on build.prop, which seems irrelevant with the problem

[Q] audio sounds like fastforward

okay ive been experiencing strange stuff on my one x. sometimes out of no where the audio (music, playback, riinger, internel speakers, headphones) sounds like its in fast forward. .. even video . when i play vid its like its skipping 2 seconds everytime. in other words, everything coming out of speaker or headphones sounds like chipmunks . to resolve this issue i have to restart the phone (evcen hot boot, shell restart helps ) . but it seems to come back once in a while. sometimes too fast.
what causes this problem . is this hardware issue or software issue. i m running viper 3.7.5 rom with xm kernel.is this about kernel? ( i doubt, coz i had this issue on different roms too)
Installed any sound mods..?

I'm also on viper 3.7.5 with it's kernel, no modification of any kind, no sound mods. Sometimes it's occur after couple hours, sometimes after couple of days.
found the reason
okay i found the culprit. i used to install beats enhanced mod http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1720770 with venom rom and that was the main culprit. seems its not compatible with viper rom
i reflashed the rom without the jb beats mod and now its working fine since 3 days now .
I am on SlimKat rom,. Same thing is happening with me. It happens when i take a call while listening to music. After the call it starts playing like fast forward. It is really annoying. After the restart it stars playing normal again. Any ideas guy?

[Q] Low mic volume

People have been complaining about not being able to hear me during calls. I had someone call my home phone from my cell and the voice sounds extremely muffled and quiet; however, regular voice recorder through a separate apps works fine.
I'm running the latest radio (UVMC6). This problem started while using the ParanoidAndroid ROM. I have since switched to HellyBean but that has not fixed the problem. Toggling noise supression doesn't seem to fix the issue either...any ideas?
only thing i can recommend is try a clean install format system in mounts and storage, and wipe data factory reset, wipe cache/dalvik ,and try to flash the ROM again to see if the problem is still there you pretty much have tried everything which is good. do you remember any ROM where this issue was not occurring ???

I was using SlimStar before PA and the first few build of PA seemed fine as well. Started happening about a month ago. I did a clean install going from PA to Helly. I'll try it again and see if it works.
Also the new PA roms have been using custom kernels , PAC is really picky the way it boots up and if you don't have the MC6 radio and a certain kernel sometimes wont boot i know this has nothing to do with your issue but just thought I'd let you know. and is just muffled or literally really low volume ??have you tried with headphones to see if this problem is there ??
Seems to happen randomly to some on 4.2.2 roms.
Only thing I can suggest is TW 4.1.2 roms.

Still no dice... Currently running Shadow 1.4 ROM and call recipients still complain about my voice being too quiet/dropping in and out.
Could it be a hardware issue perhaps?

Yup. Bad microphone? Get any water in it? Or a carrier issue...bad signal? I assume you have newest radio...or it wouldn't work at all.
Did you try a couple 4.1.2 roms to be sure. Maybe even try stock....or ics even. Just to be sure.
Did you go into phone settings and check enable noise surpression.

[Q] External speakers mystery

Hi,
I unlocked my phone on the very 3rd day I bought it and now its over a year old phone which has seen many custom rom installations.
Recently, I tried to install jb 4.3 and everything worked well for 2-3 days then the problem started, suddenly there was no sound from external speakers, tried few other roms..same problem. Then downgraded to 4.1.2 sound started coming back in patches. Sometimes I get to hear the ringtone but sometime no sound. I also realized that as soon as I install Apex launcher the sound dies and uninstalling it doesn't help.
I really don't know the exact problem if nAa 3.4.55 and above versions are culprit or Apex launcher or hardware problem.
Some useful insight is welcome on the issue.
Regards

Yes tried everything to my best of knowledge. But its not helping. The external speakers have developed a mind of their own...they start and stop on their own wish.

galaxy S3 SGH-1747keeps losing sound

I had this phone for 5 months now and within that period i'm having this sound issue..when you listen to music after a few mins the sound freezes and also everything that involves audio is silent even phone calls the only to restore back is to restart phone then its OK but after a while it gets back to the problem..I was running the stock 4.1.2 at that time so was thinking of an update so i did upgrade it to 4.3 tru kies but still having the audio problem,i've been doing what others suggested factory reset or wipe cache but this doesn't solve the issue..its really annoying how you missed messages and calls from your bosses if you know what i mean..in fact while i'm doing this post i just finished resetting again my phone..
I've been searching around goggling this issue it seems i'm not the only one having this problem but i failed to look for solutions to this issue so please if you know something i would be very pleased if you may share how to solve it..thanks a lot
