Battery charge indicator 2.3.5 upgrade problem
Hello everyone. This is my first time come to xda-developers form.I'm from china.
Yesterday I update my wildfire S(China mainland Edition)to 2.3.5+Sense3.0 lockscreen(Taiwan Edition)'s ROM.
I charge my bbttery yesterday evening.I turn off my phone.
When charge compalate.I found that the LED light didn't change green. It was still orange.
Why?How to solve it?
PS:Maybe my post have some Grammar problem。I hope that you can Bear with it.
Try factory reset see if it helps.
Backup important information and personal stuff first.
Just try the procedure of taking the battery out, sim card, micro sd etc etc and see if that works...
are you using the stock battery?
i used to notice with my (so called) extended battery 2430mah Gold battery, the software would say it was 100% charge, but it stayed orange for around another hour or two, then eventually turned green...i assume this is because the phone software had misjudged the charge level...so although it THOUGHT it was 100% full, it was actually still charging?
so if you have changed the battery at all, leave it charging for a bit longer (only an hour or so) and see if it goes out?
should be safe, as the batteries themselves usually have an auto shut off safety to stop them from being over-charged.
I get the exact same on ALL custom ROMs, never on Stock though, would love a fix!

Since I unlocked my phone's bootloader, rooted and installed custom recovery I have the same problem too.
If I charge the battery with the phone turned on, the led turns green at 100% and everything is fine.
If I charge the battery with the phone off, the led stays orange forever even when I disconnect the charger. Then I have to remove the battery and insert it again so that the led turns off. If I wait enough time charging the battery reaches 100%.
This is a strange sympton that only started with the rooting/recovery flashing process.
Oh and BTW the way, I use stock battery but now I'm waiting for the arrival of two batteries I ordered on eBay.
One is a Li-Ion 1500 mAh and the other a Li-Polymer 2430 mAh.
Will see if the same happens when they arrive but I'm almost 100% sure this has something to do with the bootloader unlocking process.
Does anybody know how to fix this? I would really appreciate it.

I for example left my phone charging for 8 hours (during the night) beyond the normal charge time. And the worst is that I have to remove the battery in order to turn off the orange led and be able to turn on my phone...

Hi
have you try to wipe battery stats in recovery mode?
perhaps this will help, although I had not previously encountered a similar problem

I've tried wiping battery stats in recovery mode and also with Nema Battery Calibration. Nothing fixes this annoying bug.

Same as, pain in the arse!
Great news! At least on my phone this problem is gone.
You wonder how? Simply by updating recovery to v5.0.2.8 from ROM Manager.
I almost didn't notice it it but a few hours ago I plugged my phone to the charger while still on. After finishing my work I turned it off (no fastboot).
In the meanwhile I needed to use my phone far from the wall plug and disconnected the usb charger cable.
My gesture was to immediately remove back cover to remove the battery but fortunately I noticed the orange led went off.
So I decided to plug it again and wait for the charge to complete and for the green led. It did!
So run to the Market, download ROM Manager and let it update your recovery to the latest version.
I hope this annoying pest won't bother you no more.

sorted it out alright, was using a universal charger for a replacement night hour charging ....thought this is just because of the overclocking.
First of all reset the phone . Am sure that will help.

Not what the problem was or related to, it was an outdated ROM manager app that caused it...
I am from India and is using defy from last two month .....
Yesterday, my mobile got switched off, I thought its battery drain..(Although known with the fact that its 60 % + charged)
When I came back to home, I plug it for charging, and mobile got on, so I unplugged it, but it went off, got switched off, repeated for several time to confirm the problem. Battery power is not detecting...... I also tried to wipe catche, data, delvic data even I freshly install new ROM. But nothing work,
SO friends I need help to come out of this ............. Help would be appreciated ....
Try take out the battery for like 10mins and put it back. Charge it to 100% and see if it worked. Otherwise I'm afraid your battery is dead and might need to change.

Hi, I got a problem with my htc desire z. First, i bought this phone, like week ago, no warranty but 100% working. After few days, i noticed that battery sometimes does not charge, but after moving a cable it was ok, i tried few chargers and i appears to be usb port issue. Few days later i rooted the phone and installed custom rom. Everything was ok, but battery life was horrible - after charging up to 100% phone was up for 4-5 hours with no playing, only sms, calls and some wifi. I flashed another kernel, then yesterday flashed that rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2163579
But today after charging to 100% it shut down after like 4h of no use, chaged to 100% again. I unplugged the phone, run Flappy bird and screen went black. Cant boot, cant boot to recovery. When i plug in to computer, red led blinks and adb finds the device as recovery. Please help me guys :crying: I made a backup b4 flashing latest rom so i hope there something i can do.. But maybe its battery dead? Cuz as i said, aprox battery life was 3-5h on every rom, even after recalibration. Hope you can help me. :fingers-crossed:

Considering it's age, you probably need a new battery. Try an Ankers 1600mAh, it's still going great for me.

I will try getting new batery, but i think there is also problem with inphone microusb port.. cuz battery was loading properly only when i deflected the plug-in.
The anker battery is awesome and the price has come way down. You can also often find it with an external charger on the cheap through eBay as your USB port sounds cruddy
If you want to replace the port its about $5 so very cheap but it is soldered to logic board and if you aren't comfortable with fine soldering you will need to pay someone to do this, I would guess about $20
But first peek in at it as sometimes you can see a bent terminal and you can bend it back into place with a toothpick but not always
Best of luck!

Hi Guys,
Ive had my GPAD for about 2 months now, i came to use it today and the device was dead. Simple enough i thought the battery had just drained, however when i plugged it in to charge it just did a strange bootloop. The LG screen appeared a battery icon with 0% appeared and then instantly rebooted itself doing the same process over and over.
I thought if i left it for a bit it might need a charge before going any further i.e. battery was completely drained. I have left it for over and hour and its still doing the same thing. As soon as you unplug it from the mains it dies and wont turn on.
I'm assuming my battery has completely failed, has anyone else experienced this with this device. I've owned lots of phones and tablets over the years and have never known a battery fail like this before?
Thanks

If it immediately gave a sign of life when you plugged it in, then it was not off. Power it off with the power button, then plug it in to charge. Try this also on your computer if that fails, and finally, treat it as if it were bricked and thus set it to Download mode, and try a recovery.

I just had the exact same problem myself.
I did use CM11. What did you use?
After going back to stock it worked fine. Now, I am just about to try cm11 again.
Sorry for Kate reply, didn't really Jeep an eye on the thread as I thought it was just dead lol. I used madhi ROM which I think is cm11 based. I'll try and put it back to stock.
Thanks for your reply

Hey guys it has been a while since i used my Note 2, i had custom cyanogen rom v12 stable running it..
The phone has been off for a month.. i wanted to use it again so at first it wouldn't start, figured it would be battery ran out so plugged it for charge yet not battery symbol/logo of charging came out as it used to do.. i let it for about half an hour plugged in and tried to turn it on yet nothing happened.
i also tried download mode and recovery yet also not booting into them.
My brother has a functioning Note 2 so i thought maybe the issue is battery wise, so i switched batteries between both phones,
[the battery that was originally in my phone now in the functioning other phone... AND IT CHARGED NORMALLY]
[the battery taken from the other phone and put it into mine didn't charge!!!]
What's the problem with my phone?? how can it brick by itself after just leaving it turned off for a month.
I hope i can find a solution for it
Regards
Are you using the original Samsung cable and charger with the phone?

yeah the official cable.
I don't know why the phone failed on its own
Maybe try a 2.0 amp charger? Was the phone exposed to moisture?
Does the phone actually function properly now that the battery is charged? You could try disassembling the phone and removing the charging port and cleaning it with isopropyl alcohol and baking just the port on a cooking sheet in the oven for 5 minutes at 350 degrees. This fixed my Note II when it wouldn't charge after I dropped it in water
I also have a similar problem. I was on dn4 rom when this started my phone didn't even alow me to flash a rom so I used Odin aand failed the first time and thankfuly it worked the 2nd time. Now the phone is better than before but if I unplug it turns off and tries to reboot but stays on the note 2 logo and also if the battery is on 82% and it reboots it can jump all the way to 4%.
Problem is that the phone was left in my closet untouched for a whole month, i changed the battery and was sure it was 100% charged...
[no note 2 logo , no nothing] .. the phone is black and doesn't turn on
Its not a battery issue more than i think its the faulty rom that ruined it

The phone could only go into download mode. Also if I try to turn it on, it would only show the note 2 logo and won't go any further. Yesterday I tried an aftermarket battery with my phone and it was able to boot past the note 2 logo.

No that's not the case, samsung said that if a display backlight dies, the phone still vibrates when you turn it on... that's what tells if the screen display is burnt out or not
