Hi, I got a problem with my htc desire z. First, i bought this phone, like week ago, no warranty but 100% working. After few days, i noticed that battery sometimes does not charge, but after moving a cable it was ok, i tried few chargers and i appears to be usb port issue. Few days later i rooted the phone and installed custom rom. Everything was ok, but battery life was horrible - after charging up to 100% phone was up for 4-5 hours with no playing, only sms, calls and some wifi. I flashed another kernel, then yesterday flashed that rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2163579
But today after charging to 100% it shut down after like 4h of no use, chaged to 100% again. I unplugged the phone, run Flappy bird and screen went black. Cant boot, cant boot to recovery. When i plug in to computer, red led blinks and adb finds the device as recovery. Please help me guys :crying: I made a backup b4 flashing latest rom so i hope there something i can do.. But maybe its battery dead? Cuz as i said, aprox battery life was 3-5h on every rom, even after recalibration. Hope you can help me. :fingers-crossed:

Considering it's age, you probably need a new battery. Try an Ankers 1600mAh, it's still going great for me.

Thanks
I will try getting new batery, but i think there is also problem with inphone microusb port.. cuz battery was loading properly only when i deflected the plug-in.
The anker battery is awesome and the price has come way down. You can also often find it with an external charger on the cheap through eBay as your USB port sounds cruddy
If you want to replace the port its about $5 so very cheap but it is soldered to logic board and if you aren't comfortable with fine soldering you will need to pay someone to do this, I would guess about $20
But first peek in at it as sometimes you can see a bent terminal and you can bend it back into place with a toothpick but not always
Best of luck!

Battery charge indicator 2.3.5 upgrade problem
Hello everyone. This is my first time come to xda-developers form.I'm from china.
Yesterday I update my wildfire S(China mainland Edition)to 2.3.5+Sense3.0 lockscreen(Taiwan Edition)'s ROM.
I charge my bbttery yesterday evening.I turn off my phone.
When charge compalate.I found that the LED light didn't change green. It was still orange.
Why?How to solve it?
PS:Maybe my post have some Grammar problem。I hope that you can Bear with it.
Try factory reset see if it helps.
Backup important information and personal stuff first.
Just try the procedure of taking the battery out, sim card, micro sd etc etc and see if that works...
are you using the stock battery?
i used to notice with my (so called) extended battery 2430mah Gold battery, the software would say it was 100% charge, but it stayed orange for around another hour or two, then eventually turned green...i assume this is because the phone software had misjudged the charge level...so although it THOUGHT it was 100% full, it was actually still charging?
so if you have changed the battery at all, leave it charging for a bit longer (only an hour or so) and see if it goes out?
should be safe, as the batteries themselves usually have an auto shut off safety to stop them from being over-charged.
I get the exact same on ALL custom ROMs, never on Stock though, would love a fix!

Since I unlocked my phone's bootloader, rooted and installed custom recovery I have the same problem too.
If I charge the battery with the phone turned on, the led turns green at 100% and everything is fine.
If I charge the battery with the phone off, the led stays orange forever even when I disconnect the charger. Then I have to remove the battery and insert it again so that the led turns off. If I wait enough time charging the battery reaches 100%.
This is a strange sympton that only started with the rooting/recovery flashing process.
Oh and BTW the way, I use stock battery but now I'm waiting for the arrival of two batteries I ordered on eBay.
One is a Li-Ion 1500 mAh and the other a Li-Polymer 2430 mAh.
Will see if the same happens when they arrive but I'm almost 100% sure this has something to do with the bootloader unlocking process.
Does anybody know how to fix this? I would really appreciate it.

I for example left my phone charging for 8 hours (during the night) beyond the normal charge time. And the worst is that I have to remove the battery in order to turn off the orange led and be able to turn on my phone...

have you try to wipe battery stats in recovery mode?
perhaps this will help, although I had not previously encountered a similar problem

Same as, pain in the arse!
Great news! At least on my phone this problem is gone.
You wonder how? Simply by updating recovery to v5.0.2.8 from ROM Manager.
I almost didn't notice it it but a few hours ago I plugged my phone to the charger while still on. After finishing my work I turned it off (no fastboot).
In the meanwhile I needed to use my phone far from the wall plug and disconnected the usb charger cable.
My gesture was to immediately remove back cover to remove the battery but fortunately I noticed the orange led went off.
So I decided to plug it again and wait for the charge to complete and for the green led. It did!
So run to the Market, download ROM Manager and let it update your recovery to the latest version.
I hope this annoying pest won't bother you no more.

Not what the problem was or related to, it was an outdated ROM manager app that caused it...
I flashed my Galaxy s2 with AOKP JB5 rom last week. worked fine over the weekend. Last night it stopped charging. It wouldnt drain while it was plugged in but it wouldnt charge either. Now it is just dead and just a non-charging paper weight. i cant flash or reset because i have no charge. I have tried cleaning the usb port... using both wall/laptop to charge. It shows the aokp charging icon and but will not charge.
Maybe your battery is shot? Not sure as I've never experienced something like this but it sounds like the battery isn't holding a charge.
I know my phone just vibrates if I plug in the charger when the battery isn't in it.
Yeah it doesn't sound like a rom problem to me could be either your USB port or battery

I've had this issue multiple times, still have yet to get a new battery. First time had it on the charger for a full day, it would constantly boot show 0% and shut off then boot back up. Randomly started charging again.
And again just this morning, it was still discharging while on the charger. Unplugged it a couple times now charging again, but slowly... Either way not exactly sure what it is either :-\

I am having same problem my phone ran dead and wouldn't turn on even with the charger and wont go into download or recovery mode when connected to the computer. I was running rootbox rom I figure it could be a problem with the rom or something so I am going to try a friends battery into my phone and try install in recovery the latest update or see if that helps.
Hope my phone turns on and I will see if it will charge if not I can get one of those microusb port for galaxy s2 on ebay for about £10 and attempt to repair my usb port.
Your options:
1) Get a new battery.
2) Get charging port repaired.
3) Get a new battery and a wall charger for that battery.
[ NEXUS⁴ / VANILLA ROOTBOX / APEX PRO / TAPATALK ]
well just to update you my friend has a galaxy s2 aswell and I swapped his battery into mine and mine into his and my phone booted. My battery when put into his phone came up a yellow triangle for a while and then started charging again so maybe the problem lies with the yellow triangle thing? After I charged my battery a little bit in his phone put it back in mine and it works and charges so it wasnt the port a software problem maybe.
Updated the rom and all is working OK and my phone has died and it still charges so it baffles me why it done this.
It's the JB ROM
It's the JB roms. I've conducted tests with this ROM and some other NON-JB roms. The JB ROMS will allow for a device to be fully discharged, therefore killing the battery pack and requiring it be charged from an alternate source, if one is available.
Do NOT allow the ROM to reach below 2%, as you're about to have a rather difficult time recharging the battery if it goes completely dead. As I said, I can reproduce this, but I don't know WHY it's only with JB roms. I have successfully killed 13 PowerSkins to the point of no return with this test, and 28 batteries (17 OEM and 11 aftermarket), it's the ROM.
Hi Guys,
Ive had my GPAD for about 2 months now, i came to use it today and the device was dead. Simple enough i thought the battery had just drained, however when i plugged it in to charge it just did a strange bootloop. The LG screen appeared a battery icon with 0% appeared and then instantly rebooted itself doing the same process over and over.
I thought if i left it for a bit it might need a charge before going any further i.e. battery was completely drained. I have left it for over and hour and its still doing the same thing. As soon as you unplug it from the mains it dies and wont turn on.
I'm assuming my battery has completely failed, has anyone else experienced this with this device. I've owned lots of phones and tablets over the years and have never known a battery fail like this before?
Thanks

If it immediately gave a sign of life when you plugged it in, then it was not off. Power it off with the power button, then plug it in to charge. Try this also on your computer if that fails, and finally, treat it as if it were bricked and thus set it to Download mode, and try a recovery.

I just had the exact same problem myself.
I did use CM11. What did you use?
After going back to stock it worked fine. Now, I am just about to try cm11 again.
Sorry for Kate reply, didn't really Jeep an eye on the thread as I thought it was just dead lol. I used madhi ROM which I think is cm11 based. I'll try and put it back to stock.
Thanks for your reply

Hello,
I have a problem with this tablet , when i charge it to 100% and use it for like 5-10mins i'm suddenly at 1% battery. But i can still use youtube or other apps for 40mins + So i'm pretty sure the battery is at 95% or something.
Also when i charge and stop charging it can reset the whole thing and say that i have 2% battery.
I already tried to charge 100% > let it decharge 40-50% > power off 5houres > but didn't help..
Somebody said remove the battery for 5mins and problem is gone..
Anyone done this so far?
i'm on STOCK ROM , no root or what so ever.. NO battery save app or something like that.
Hi, I'm having the same issue but it's not as dire as yours. Since you're not rooted or anything, I strongly believe it's a hardware issue, try replacing your device cause it shouldn't drain that fast. I'm using nolekat rom and it takes me 10 hours to charge fully or more but half the time for it to be drained. I haven't tried removing my battery manually but you could try that too. Most likely it's a hardware issue since you didn't mess with it so much. Hope this helps.

Hi,
My tab is getting switched off frequently though the battery is fully charged, it suddenly dies down during any kind of work and im not having battery draining problem in my tab. But when I plug in a charger or battery bank then the tab works fine with out shut downing. Is this problem related to battery or hardwire or software. Kindly suggest if some one facing similar situation
Hi XDA
I have another problem, not too bad as yours, but very nagging and upsetting. What happens is that my tabet takes practically half a day for charging up the battery. It takes like 12 or more hours to charge up from 0 to 100%. I have tried unplugging the battery as you explained many times, also draining it, but nthing changes. And even worse it is when I'm just plugging my device after totally drained the battery, so when I try to boot my device it may boot up, when it does, after one minute it's turning off because of a suposedly 0% battery. Really I might get either that 0% or 1% battery, but after a minute when I just plug it in and boot up, it may turn off even though I turned off the sceen inmediately.
I think. the problen is maybe on the battery or in the USB port, I have tested many USB cables, many chargers, charging from my PC, but the problem keeps going an and on and on. I would like to know why this problems is happening, if I could fix it up by myself, for instance by replacing the battery or the USB port. This device was a gift, and since I got it I was dithering whether it was normal or not, but by asking soome mates and reading your post I realize that this is not normal.
Hope you read this quick reply. Many thanks for your advice and giving me advice on what and how I should do...

So my zenfone 2 is rooted and today it ran out of battery. I put it on charger, there is no LED indicator lighting but ok, i thought it´s charging, so in few minutes i tried to power my device on, but i got only that low battery screen and it turn off after few seconds. I can get to this low battery screen even without charger, but it´s same. When i press power button in this low battery screen i get that bolt there, like it´s charging for a second but then it turn off. I also can´t get to recovery mode, even when i try it on that screen, it shows white battery with question mark. When i try it from turned off mobile, nothing happens. Please help me. Sorry for my bad english. Im sure that charger is OK because it works with other stuff and when i plug the mobile into pc, it´s just same, nothing. I have TWRP recovery btw.
Seems that you are having my same problem (http://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone2/help/phone-wont-charge-tries-to-t3426130), but you can see the charging screen. Does your phone get hot while charging? Mine doesn't (so it is not charging) I bought the usb chargning module, hoping that it will arrive soon if that is the problem.
