Root issues - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
I rooted my UK note 2 using Odin, following the guide on here, all seemed to go well...said it had been successful, and SuperSU appeared in my apps, but root checker says I'm not rooted and SuperSU crashes...I've tried doing it again and it said it was successful.... But still have the same issue....when I try to run any app that requires root...I get an error saying SuperSU has had to close etc.....can anyone point this noob in the right direction? [emoji1]

Open super su from app drawer and go to settings and un install it,then go to play store and download the latest one and update it's binaries from the app itself.

Thanks for the reply....I was unable to remove it....I managed to find a 4.1 rom....flashed that with odin, then updated to latest kit kat with keis...now un rooted and back on official rom and can update over the air....so all sorted

Root is Gone?

So all of sudden, my rooted S3 is not rooted anymore.
I wanted to use Titanium Backup and it says
"Sorry, I could not acquire root privileges. This application will *not* work! Pleasre verify that your ROM is rooted, and try again.
This attempt was made using the "/system/xbin/su" command."
and then I tried my other root applications such as Greenify, App Ops and they are all saying my phone isn't rooted anymore.
I don't understand, I never upgraded my phone after I rooted and I never flashed a different rom and kept the Touchwiz Rom.
I used this guide to root my phone originally:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1771687
My phone is running 4.3 Android (Same Version I used when Rooted in the first place)
Baseband Version: T999UVUEMJC
Please let me know what to do

It isn't.
The following message pops up:
"There is no SU binary installed, and SuperSU cannot install it. This is a problem!
If you just upgraded to Android 4.3, you need to manually re-root - consult the relevant forums for your device!"

My suggestion would be to back everything up and re flash root66.

Would I lose all my data?
In terms of re flash root66, that means simply using Odin and re-rooting my phone like I do the first time right? Would it be the same instructions too?

I'm not sure if you are going to lose your data.. so that's why I said to back everything up, just in case.
And yes.. same method as before from that post.
Befoe you flash again. Try uninstalling then installing supersu again

I can't uninstall supersu as it gives me no option to do so. I can only uninstall all updates that were applied but not complete remove and then install it.
I had this happen on my Tmobile Galaxy S3.
I read somewhere else on XDA that you just had to install the latest SuperSU, in zip form, from recovery mode.
I havent posted enough here to be able to post a link, but you can find it on chainfires website.
Then reboot and it should work.

[Q] Problem with rooting

I have a T-Mobile Galaxy S4 and I tried rooting it using the CF-Auto-Root, but when I open SuperSU, it says "there is SU binary installed, and SuperSU cannot install it." I decided I want to root it all the way but I can't figure this out. How do I root this phone?? Do I have to use the CyanogenMod?? Please help!!

Ok, So my question would be did you use Odin to install CF-Auto-Root? Most I've seen use it and have no problem. Odin installs it then the phone reboots and that's when a special recovery is installed and then loaded and the root process is done. After that stock recovery is again installed. Not positive but I heard there may be other methods named similiar to this that will root phones that have 4.3 and lower.
Make sure you have the version mentioned here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2294005
Also. if you think for some reason that your phone maybe rooted but SuperSU isn't working right you could always go to the Play store and download Chainfire's SuperSU and then install it. If your phone was truly rooted this should fix SuperSU

[Q] SuperSU/Root Problems

I'm not exactly new to the rooting scene nut lets just say i'm not that expert at it.
THe problem im now getting is on my Samsung Galaxy Note 2(Sgh-1317m) i had it rooted when i was on DN3 but then i wished to update
to 4.4.2, my root was gone. When I tried to re-root it via CF-Auto Root it flashes successfully no probs. But when i open SuperSU it says no SU binary installed and im not able to access root. Is there any way to get root successfully on 4.4.2 or do i have to get back to DN3.
Get back to me ASAP. :good:
Regards,
xtrmewhacker
Special Thanks To Chainfire who made rooting so damn easy!

This is my first post to XDA. I'm brand new to rooting though reasonably competent technically. Wanted to root for access to root-only apps, but wanted to wait for 4.4 in case I ended up unable to receive future updates. 4.4.2 OTA came in yesterday so I tried flashing. Used Odin to install TWRP recovery then used TWRP to load TeamEpic Root From Recovery. When done, root apps said I was not rooted. Loaded SuperSU and it said SU binary was missing and I should reroot. Found CF-Autoroot and loaded it through ODIN. Red-logo thing appeared and system recovered but apps still said no root. Loaded "Root Checker Basic" from play store and it confirmed still no root. Tried to run SuperSU but found it to be missing. Reloaded SuperSU from Play Store. As SuperSU was finishing installing, popup message said something about Root Checker wanting access. I said "grant" and then found that Boot Checker verified root access. So I'm on my way.:victory:
Suggestion to xtrmewhacker: remove SuperSU and reinstall from Play Store.
SuperSU couldn't install the latest binary? I did the same as you, install 4.4 stock, flash cf-auto root, installed supersu from play store.
Supersu then installed via normal (not twrp), disabled knox, and rebooted. Everything was fine after.

[Q] Help with rooting phone

I have an LG G3 on T-Mobile, running android 4.4.2 and my software version is D85110r. I downloaded and installed Stump Root and when I load the app it says "Device is already Rooted". Then I remember I had previously rooted the phone last summer when I got it. But I'm having issues with several apps not working because of root permission. So then I download and install SuperSU and when I run it, it gives me the message, "There is no SU binary installed, and SuperSU cannot install it." It then says something about if you have android 4.3 you need to re-root your phone. How do I proceed? Do I need to un-root my phone and then re-root? Thanks for any help you can provide!
Anyone?
same here. I am not on 4.3 but still getting the same message. Fix?

Hello! I had no problems rooting my F400k with this root tool.. I also tried rooting with Stump but it failed many times.. I suggest format your phone then try this root tool. Look at number 5 of this post.
Attached is the root tool. Good luck

This thing does not work as of JANUARY 17. The phone does not go into recovery mod, but just restarts once you click run.bat file

You've flashed other root tools like Stump, etc.. right? It probably left some files behind after unrooting.. Factory reset and try that root tool again.. I've always used it and rooting was a breeze!:fingers-crossed::good: If you have updated to the latest firmware then maybe rooting isn't possible at the moment. Try downgrading to the previous version you had after you've factory resetted and used that root tool.. Good luck mate!

Rooting on Lollipop HTC M8

Hi,
I recently updated my phone to Lollipop. I am looking to root it. This will be the first time that I will be rooting my phone. I have unlocked the bootloader but when it comes to updating my phone to install TWRP I get the message "Download complete. We will now attempt to reboot into TWRP and install SuperSU. If this app just closed, try rebooting into TWRP manually". I click continue but nothing happens. I am also unsure how to manually update this? Please help I'm a noob to this stuff.
Thanks

Go to TWRP manually and install supersu.
Choose install and scroll all the way down and choose supersu.zip
I've managed to update the app but when in supersu I am now getting the error message saying, "There is no SU Binary installed, and supersu cannot install it. This is problem! If you just upgraded to android 5.0, you need to manually re-root". Does this mean I have to downgrade to kit kat?

No, it just means you need to get a flashable SuperSU zip, put it on the phone, and flash with TWRP.

Having the same issue here. Flashed UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.80.zip but it says there's no binary. Enabled dev mode and root in CM12.1. Any ideas?
EDIT: Solved by installing the latest v2.46.

As you've discovered, v1.80 is very obsolete. Lollipop requires the latest version. I don't think a working root for LP was implemented in CuperSU until around v2.43 or thereabouts.
