if you are rooted, add it to Dual Window.

if you use with dual window it works better in landscape, otherwise the top left button to go back, when in the menus, does not coordinate correctly with where you press on screen.

Does navigon use side streets to dodge through traffic?
---------- Post added at 05:37 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:30 PM ----------
The 2 best nav apps tomtom and navigon....are not available in the friggin market for the g3....atleast here in the usa....smh i need a good nav app. Anyone have any suggestions or know how to get either one of those two nav apps working?
When I use nav on my phone, I use copilot. Love it... It does download and save the maps to ur phone, but that is nice if u loose service.
You could sideload those two apps. Not hard, I'm sure they work fine

I tried to sideload Navigon and TomTom: Navigon works, TomTom starts up fine but the graphics in navigation is all garbled and impossible to use.
Is there any way to get a Navigon non-hacked .apk? I would like to use the app with the features I actually bought (like traffic warning etc) and I actually only use bought apps on my G3

and you tried Tomtom with dual window? I used titanium backup to restore Tomtom (and other user apps for a quick restore from my last phone) . works well used with dual window.

I have to admit that I didn't think of that - and that I don't want my navigation to be in a dual-window
Sygic works fine but their route planning is suffering from the U-turn syndrome: If you deviate from the planned route it will not just recalculate a new route but will tell you to make a U-turn for a very long time.
I guess I have to use this alternative version of Navigon for now when I'm outside Denmark, when I'm in Denmark I always use Google Maps.

Is there a good working navigation program? I tried with navigon but it wouldn't start. Tried out IGO with 800x600 resolution but it will only use 1/3 of the screen?
Any good tips?
Have you tried Google Maps or Navigation?
Brian
Yes but I would like to have maps in phone, not downloading when you need it cause it's gonna be expensive when drive down in Europe.
Try Sygic 11.2.3
It's very nice and compatible with ICS.

You can precache areas in google maps so you can navigate the route even if you have your cellular turned off when driving.

If you don't Google navigation then try Waze. Social navigation

Pre cache does work great but won't do navigation mode w/o an internet connection sadly. Still very useful as long as your not driving...
Peter let us know if you find one that works well on ICS please

I tried Igo (build 8.4.2.139242).
It works but it uses only 1/3 of the screen, so it was very small. It said it was 800x600 resolution and thought it would stretch out to fill the screen but it didn't.
Downloaded Route 66 Follow me from market place. You get 30 day's trail.
It works but the follow me function in which you use the camera wouldn't work.
Addresses are also incomplete for Sweden so will see if I find another one to try.
Copilot just updated their app and it now works perfectly.

I'm over Google Navigation. The last few updates have ruined it. It won't warn you when your turn is coming, it won't reroute almost ever, and it wants to send me halfway around the city to get somewhere ten minutes away. So, with that rant out of the way, what's the best third party Nav app?

I like Waze, but with my current ROM, it's crashing. But now Google Maps is working well again. Their new voice sounds great and gives plenty of early warning prompts. I think part of my previous problems were related to bad GPS performance from my ROM.

Hello,
I have tried to install sygic mobile maps 10 on my note ii because it is the only gps that has a Cyprus map(igo also has but i dont like it). When i try to run the app, it firce closes....It seems that is not combatible with jelly bean...Is there any way to fix that?
Thanks in advance!
I purchased Sygic this past week and it works perfectly.
Have you gotten it from Google play?

Sounds like you are trying to use an outdated, and most likely pirated version. Try getting it from the play store as suggested above. It's worth it.
P.S. it is not referred to as Mobile Maps anymore, which is how I knew you were using an old version.
Mine crashes constantly.

Same thing here (I used Directory Bind) and I have no issues whatsoever. I have more than 3.5gb of sygic data and no issue at all.
And if you have an original version, then contact Sygic to help you with an upgraded license. They are really helpful in that.

I have a similar issue with the one from the play store, I get the sygic screen with a blank but where the map should be where it hangs until it force closes.

The apk can be LEGALLY installed from the Play Store, the maps are what you have to pay for. Besides, what you are proposing is against the rules at xda.
Who said i was proposing it illegally? Maybe i want to give him my account etc??
Still ty for your warn. But i know what i do x

I have Sygic as my day-to-day sat-nav in the UK (purchased from Play store).
I was looking to download the maps for Cyprus, ahead of a holiday there in a couple of months, but they only appear to be available as part of a bundle of eastern European countries - and I don't really want to pay £30-odd for the rest of which I don't need
Is there any way of getting just Cyprus?

Using waze forever now, it's a really great app, never even bothered using google maps since I started using smartphones.
Maybe it's working better here in Israel but you should really give it a try, the more people use it the more accurate it is and after a while it also learns your schedule which is nice.
One more reason why i like waze over google maps is the fact that it only runs when i need it while google maps is always running in the background.

I don't think so. I have been using it for about a year and also on their beta list to run beta builds.
I do love Waze as well, but because of the roads are always being diverted and built up and expanded, I sometimes do not have time to adjust them. So I do revert back to Google Maps from time to time.
Going to new places still scare me using Waze lol, but I use it whenever I need to find my way home.

I think once you downloaded the map(by simply being in the area) it's saved on your phone until you delete it in some way.
Waze is user updated map, the more users you have the more accurate and faster updating it will be. Ideally it should update faster and better than google maps.
Here in Israel it's pretty damn accurate, in my old city we had a new traffic circle, my brother updated it and it showed up on the map after few days.

I know, but I had a bad experience with it once, but it was when I first started using it a year ago. While in a state where I was not familiar, Georgia I think, it was 2AM and needed to find my hotel. And I ended up spending 30 minutes going back and forth on the access roads to find the stupid hotel lol. So I reverted back to google maps and it gave me the image area where I needed to be and also called the hotel to make sure I was going the right way, which I placed from google maps, because I don't think Waze had that capability at the time. Maybe it did, but I reverted back to what I knew lol.
Waze is good when i like to know where is police or traffic jam. but if i like to know exacly addres, then i use google maps.
Sorry to ask but wht not Sygic? It doesn't use data and It's really good(for my needs).

Yup, Waze is awesome for getting traffic jams, crashs and etc.. But the battery drains a lot faster with Waze than G Maps
For me, i found that waze isnt very smart when redirecting. If i miss a turn, or take another better route from experience, waze will just keep trying to route me back to the original, even asking me to go backwards just to get back onto the original planned way. I no longer use it because of this. Google nav on the other hand seems to adapt much better and recalculates a better route depending on where i am.
Sygic is best I guess

No probpem with me. I have downloaded and used nokia here maps on multipe ROMs and multiple times. What i have noticed is that it works fastee or better on touchwiz roma then on cm/aosp/slim based ROMs. Also save your maps on sd card so that ut can surviveeven if you wipe data.
You can get the latest Nokia Here Maps from here.

All works fine and no problem to download maps and voices
I am using latest beta.
Strange. I know it has been working, but I dont remember in which rom (have had a serious period of rom testing) it was.
Should be time for a new beta soon, so hopefully it will solve the problem

Nokia maps have offline navigation and offline maps. Even offline re routing when using navigation fetaure. And some of the local places maps are much better in nokia then in google. I have downloaded whole "india" maps for offline access. Saves a lot of data.
