For as long as I can remember, I've always had an issue with changing the lockscreen wallpaper on ONLY LG devices. From stock to custom ROMS, The lock screen wallpaper seems to only be able to change to a stock wallpaper, but for a certain amount of time to a custom wallpaper after a clean install.
**UPDATE**
Problem solved. Simple solution. Not quite sure what caused the problem yet. Will update once I do.

Don't have com.lg.lockscreensettings
Hi, I don't actually have a folder called com.lg.lockscreensettings in 0 folder. I would be very glad if someone helped me. Thanks
Thanks!
The InterWebs is so full of (oftentimes, hard-to-find, useless) information.
I spent so much time looking elsewhere when I should've checked XDA first!
Thanks Chance - and XDA.
Bonus: I didn't even need to reboot!
Did you ever figure out what broke it in the first place? Mine worked fine and then just didn't. I think it might have been due to the AppyGeek app.

In my case at least, all signs are pointing to xposed framework. Hard to pinpoint the exact cause as the issue is intermittent, happening randomly between rooting and xposed.

I'm familiar with changing the icons/files in framework-res on the phones, I assume the process would be the same on the Archos Gen 8s. I understand we don't have a nandroid backup to load if we screw it up but messing with the SDE version of Android somewhat alleviates that fear.
Am I right that it should be the same?
Yes.
Just keep in mind that you need to use a version like UrukDroid that gives you writeAccess to /system, because SDE only doesn't work.
Thanks. I'm using Uruk 0.4.1, so I'm ready to get to work.
This is mostly to fix the stupid Talk notification icon (am I the only one that has two white pixels on top of the talk bubble?) but I know from past experience it will soon progress to sick days, missed family events, and late night arguments with my wife as I desperately attempt to tweak just one more thing to get rid of the urge. . .
Yes its time for some themes...stock looks ugly when compared to my epic 4g

Thanks for the link but don't think this will really help as it is. The script tries to mount the /system folder on the internal nand, which won't work for us (well, not using the UrukDroid root, anyway). Should be able to tweak the script though.
Have tried replacing the framework.apk manually with an edited one, and set the correct permissions (on UrukDroid 0.4.2), but all I get is a black screen after the second Archos splash screen. Have done it the same way I did on my Desire, by editing the contents of framework-res.apk, rather than unpacking and repacking, but I guess there may be a signing issue here. I forget how much of the hard work Clockwork recovery does for you! Also, it may require edited the services.jar, but I'm not sure how to do that, or what needs editing. So far, all I did was try to change icons etc.

Haven't given up yet! Keep your eyes on this space....
EDIT
In fact, keep your eyes on this space! Thoughts/comments welcome
Hi all,
if you are using lightning ROM, you may have noticed that the CRT effect is not as it should be.
To get it working perfectly (as on the nexus s), I share with you this small method.
I have got it working on mine but I'm not responsible if you get any issue or brick your phone.
-You need Root explorer that you can download from the market.
-Download the framwork-res apk attached to this post and copy it to the SD card (internal or external, no difference).
Open root explorer and go to: /system/framework
Search for framework-res.apk and copy it to SD card (you will need it after)
Now, you need the framework-res.apk that you've downloaded before.
copy it and paste it to /system/framework.
At this stage you will get Force close of settings or something like that..don't worry and reboot the phone.
Open root explorer again and copy the first framwork-res.apk that you have saved to sd card and paste it again to: /system/framework
you will perhaps get some FC for the 2nd time but no problem.
Voilà...job done
Reboot and enjoy the original CRT animation
Mine looks worst now. Its got this checkered thing happening during the screen-off process.
The only thing I dislike about the current CRT-animation is that it is too fast. It should be a bit slower.
Could you please tell us, what you have changed inside the framework-res.apk? It would be really helpful for Themers and Rom Developers.

Hi,
It's strange, if you've done as mentionned in my post, you get the real thing as on nexus S.
Did you rebooted your phone after the last replacement of framework-res?

Hi,
Will you believe me?..I haven't changed anything inside the framework-res
I have downloaded as is from hotfile (with the original gingerbread keyborad)
First I just wanted to change the battery icone as I like the original gingerbread one, but finally it fixed the CRT animation
I'm not a developer, then can't explain you what are the exact changes that have been done on it.
I just shared my little experience as I know that the CRT animation on litening rom is annoying especially for a person who had a nexus S like me.
And by the way, great thanks for litepro for his great rom.
Yeah, I did everything in the OP. I'm on Lite'ning 1.4. I'll try again later.
Could you post a video of what the new CRT animation would look like in contrast the current one?

i'm using lite'ning 1.4 too.
I have just posted a video on youtube and the link is in the 1st post.
Normally you get the original CRT animation, I had a nexus S and I know what i'm talking about.
I don't think it has anything to do with your framework-res.apk that it works for you now. For some people the CRT-Animation just works sometimes. Someone discovered that if you set the Screen Density with LCD Density Changer you get a working CRT Animation until you long-press the Power Button.

it works perfectly, without changing screen density or any thing.
The problem, assuming it's the same on Lightning Rom as it is on VillainRom, is that it's hit and miss as to whether it occurs. Mine shows the corruption one minute then looks fine the next.
problem for me : after a new reboot the new CRT effect has disappeared...

I have it since 3 days and it works great..it doesn't show corruption at all.
Doesn't work for me, but in my opinion it can't work since nothing is changed if I put back the original framework.res
it worked for me
The corruption occurs whenever I play the game X Construction. it always looks corrupted afterwards. a reboot is needed to get it back to normal. if I don't play that game, it never gets corrupted.
replaced framework with yours, stuck in a boot loop ! thanx dude
i'm getting a vertical gray line in every contact icon with or withoit picture in contacts. they dont show up in recent calls or messages, only in people. so i'm guessing it has something to do with basic template for all contacts and perrmissions, because i think they appeared after "fixing" them.
i'm using rcmix 4.0, kernel 11.1 and honeyhd theme
any help would be geratly appreciated...
tried a fresh install, with format and wipe, still there...
so i guess i'll have to live with it?
Looks like a theme issue; have you asked whoever created that theme? I'm assuming you've tried without the theme to check that it works on the 'stock' RCMix install?
Edit: there's someone else with the same problem over in the Honey HD theme thread, so I guess that's probably going to be the place to look for assistance.
thanks, i wasnt sure what it is about, so i didnt post there.
still no answer though...

yes, rcmix 4.0 and honey hd. can you please be more specific where is this problem? i'm a complete noob when it coms to dev, but i'm willing to try. which apk to look at, and where? i managed to figure out it has something to do with the basic frame for contact picture in people, but then i got lost. is the problem in phone apk or framework?

I've been looking for a live walpaper that reflects the battery charge level.
Came across Asus MyWater, it's extremely nice, but apparently it won't work at all outside Asus Transformer and its Xoom port. Forcecloses upon trying to assign lwp...
So, found "Liquid Battery" which also force closes..
Any other full screen LWP's to this end ? Not interested in widgets, that i can get easily...
Any ideas ?
Phone runs latest CM9 nightly (as of post date/time).
I've been using asus water on my sgs2 for ages
i've used Neon Clock GL and it could show battery indicator, cpu meter, memory meter, compass, calendar..
u can get it at play store for free..
@Brendo: According to your sig your S2 is on 2.3.6. Mine is on CM9 4.0.4 ICS. Did you try Water LWP on ICS ?
@Gorjess: Nah, looks a bit meh and isn't really what i'm looking for.
Cheers...
Anything like MyWater but not as gorgeous ? Something that drains background as battery discharges ? May not be "rotatable", as long as its full screen...
There are 2 here:

Orange and Cocoa.
And an "Oldschool" paid LWP here:

I found if you apply the mywater lwp before the preview appears, itll work fine
EDIT: also stumbled upon this thread the other day: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1116105
Nope, still doesn't work. No idea why.
Found some "workarounds" that also don't work. Namely putting APK into system/app folder after installation and changing permissions to match the rest apk's there......
Ideas ?
did you try any in the thread i posted? supposedly this one is meant to be ics compatible (I have tested as my old version still works)

Haha, very funny indeedy... Not... Go away if you dont ahve anything constructive to add...
Well I added an idea on the previous post, and to be honest, I wasn't trying to be funny.
The first Google result gives a huge selection of threads from XDA.
It's an easy way to display results.
A thanks would have been a better response.
Unbelievable.
Regards.
Well, i do understand that in the trolldom that is internet sometimes you do need to pull "LMGTFY" out, but when you do, you must be prepared to be called a **** (if for a good reason).
My point is, first result is "buddha the charge meter". Thanks, but that is not nearly what i'm looking for and it is in no way constructive... That's why i told you to go away. Did it ever occured to you that some people actually do research before posting ?
Also, my problem appears to be solved so thanks to anyone who helped without resorting to "LMGTFY" trollery/sarcasmery...
Regards as well...
I disagree.
And here's my previous post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=26960341
Good luck with your search.
Regards.
Well, i got different results (buddha battery, the whole idea is a bit wtf )... No matter. No need for all this bickering... Its petty.
As for your post, i did try orange juice one. For some reason it would display but it will not animate when set. It will animate in preview though.
My CM9 is freshly installed, wiped couple of times before use, so it has to be something in the CM that does this. Not sure what though...
Ok.
I've been looking, and the highest rated wallpaper is this (Although paid unfortunately) -
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.monkeyinmysoup.batterywallpaperpro
Although it seems you may have sorted your installation problem, it's worth bearing in mind.
EDIT:
A free version is also available:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.monkeyinmysoup.batterywallpaper
Cheers.
Yeah, looked at that, but its more of a gimmick. Well MyWater is as well but at least it has some level of precision in depicting level of charge.
If i knew how to program stuff i'd write very simple one that, say, inverts a bitmap image of your choice at the level of charge 1% at a time from top to bottom, no animations no nothing. Just a simple thing. Cant find anything simple as that. Everything is more or less "gimmickyfied" in some way. Fancy battery eating animation, acc sensor usage, etc...
EDIT1 its bull**** like this:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bavirek.apps.icebuddhalivewallpaper&hl=en
(for some reason was the first result of your LMGTFY shot, not sure why now i get proper xda links (checked out by me before i posted here, btw ) )
Understandable.
As a last throw of the Dice, the MIUI battery bar works well on AOKP roms, although not a LWP, it's not intrusive and is battery friendly:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tombarrasso.android.batterybar
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pvy.batterybar
Cheers.
I dont see a lot of posts about this. But, there is a very annoying bug after the update; where if I press the Home Button to wake the screen, it will sometimes launch the task manager about a second later. I've seen sporadic posts about this for Tmobile as well as Sprint for JB 4.1.2 update; but nobody seems to have a solution.
I guess it's possible that some people dont think it's annoying enough to post; or, it's a possiblility it only affects people who have the factory rooted update installed.
I'm hoping someone smarter than me has already figured out a way to circumvent this very annoying behavior. What makes it really bad is that it only sometimes happens.
PS: The only carrier that doesn't seem to have this issue after the 4.1.2 update is ATT. My guess is they caught this bug before pushing it to all their customers.

I'm going to bet that is you disable your lockscreen you'll see this behavior just about every time. I'm fairly certain I tracked down at least one way to circumvent this behavior - check out this post for some info on it. The take home - my approach requires a wee bit of smali hacking, and everything that utilizing such a solution entails...
Dwitherell, thank you so much for responding. I was even considering on reverting back to 4.1.1 because of this. I don't use any kind password or pattern lock.
Forgive my ignorance, but the post you pointed me to locks like its on a Jedi ROM. I don't even see any specific references to this issue. What is this fix for specifically? If it is for sure going to restore normal behavior, i guess i could try to do this hack.
If this issue is as wide spread as i think it is, is there any chance you could make a tiny root app that fixes the problem or some way of automating a fix for not so technical people? How wide spread is this issue? Thanks a million for your help.

My annoying fix...
I have been plagued by this since the update as well. I have tried factory resets and uninstall programs one by one. Nothing worked. Today I decided to try removing my lock screen pin, just used the swipe to unlock. That did not work. Then it came to me...
I set back up my pin to unlock, and switched the setting "Lock automatically" to Immediately instead of having a delay that I love. That "worked" as in it no longer goes to recent apps. But now I have to chose to have a pin to unlock it every time my screen turns off or remove security or deal with the recent apps issue. Any way you choose it's an extra annoying step to unlock.
I'd like to hear if anyone else has found any other solution.
Edit.... I have tried every lock option and as long as set to lock immediately, it will eliminate the problem. And the same with setting any delay, with any lock option it will result in the recent apps.
I forgot to mention that lock screen prevents this bug from happenening. I'm guessing that's why not everyone has complained about the issue.. and why the bug somehow sneaked passed beta testing of 4.1.2. I would think this changed behavior was a new "feature" as horrible as it is, but it looks like it dad unintentional since its not consistent behavior.
I'm hoping that a kind android developer who also can't stand this problem, Kay offer a small script or app for rooted user to patch this problem.

It was posted in a Jedi thread, but only because that is where I noticed it was mentioned. The context outside that single post was someone stating the same observation as you, my responding saying that I was also annoyed by it, with a later edit saying I may have come up with a workaround for it, and their response of "tell me more". As far as automating a fix or creating an app or the like - that is well beyond my paygrade unfortunately. What are you running? If you are interested you could PM me - all I need is your android.policy.jar (or to know what you are currently running) and I can try to get a fix together for you given some other conditions (i.e. have a custom recovery installed so you can flash things). It seems to have fixed it on my end, but I would be very interested in getting some others to test
You did it! Your fix works perfectly! The bug is gone! ...like the bug was never there. My understanding is the fix prevents the phone from stupidly trying to launch the task manager when the screen wakes by the home button. I also donated for you time and effort. Thanks a million.

No, thank you for making me learn how to put an odexed mod together and testing it for me!
So this fix will work for anyone running a stock odexed version of 4.1.2 UVBMB4 - you just need to be rooted, and having a custom recovery would be nice so you could flash it but you could also just copy the files over. That being said - would this be worthwhile to post?
I wish i had know i could just copy the files over.. that's actually less convoluted process than depending on a script. I thought the reason you made a patch via flashing is because the system files were locked/open by the system. Anyway, i am extremely thankful for this'll as there is no other way to fix the bug without adding extra steps to wake the screen.
You should definitely share both odexed and deodexed patches with others. I personally don't know how i could tollerate that bug for much longer. I'm sure there are others who don't use the lock screen. Plus, this would give a chance for others to appreciate your work by dontating for your time and effort.

The flashable zip is just one method to get the files where they need to go. Literally all it does is overwrite the 2 files in /system/framework by moving the 2 files over from the zip - but there are definitely other ways to do such things. Some are more comfortable with this route, others are more comfortable w/ getting /system to be rw and move the files manually.
I'll likely post this at some point in the next few days
I don't mean to revive a dead thread or anything, but this bug has been driving me CRAZY & the smali hacking worked perfectly for me, thank you!!!
FYI, I'm willing to help people out with this as well. If anyone wants this done but doesn't wanna mess with the java stuff, PM me & send me your android.policy.jar and I'll hack it for you

Glad to hear
Is it possible that my phone isn't affected? If its a 4.1.2 bug, it should be in all phones with same version right?
This is not happening to my phone. Whether I have lock screen activated or not. I'm rooted but running stock ROM and I have Nova launcher installed if thats even important.
It's not all notes.

Absolutely. just PM me. Yeah, you have to be rooted but that's easy to do & worth it for this hack & all the other things you can do once you're rooted.
