I thought SGX540 that's superior than iphone4 would run new games without any lags but for new games such as 9mm and let's golf 3 i've face many stutter on those games. I'd like to ask others that you have problem like me or not ? or maybe next time i'd go back to ios or waiting ice cream sandwich. Those games are smooth in iphone4 but not in galaxy s that has superior GPU.
I didn't play to 9mm and I just tested Lets Golf3, but yeah... it's not strange to have some small lags sometimes.
If gaming on the phone is very important for you I suggest to use samsung roms and not cm7 or miui.
And yeah, maybe you should have buy an iPhone, Android still can beat iOS when it comes to games
im currently on JVT.firmware

I notice the lags too. I strongly believe that the lags are caused primarily by low ram. On Froyo, I never had lags in games, and they were all super smooth. But on gingerbread, after a few hours of usage, the ram drops below 100mb, and the games will lag. The games don't lag on a fresh boot. Hence, the problem is not with the gpu, but with the fact that 512mb of ram is just not enough for gingerbread. If you want to remove the lags in games as well as in the phone interface, I recommend that you flash a 2.2.1 rom. ZSJPK was one of the best roms I've ever used.
Yeah, sgx540 is better than the 535 use in iphone 4, but it's all about drivers and optimisations. And we can't deny that Apple is doing a wonderfull job with iOS.

indeed, i also think the lags are caused by lack of ram...
when you move the camera around in the game it sometimes hangs and when the textures are in RAM, you can continue playing without fps drops or lag
a tip before you start playing:
- root your phone and install "autostarts" to disable all crap which boots up with android
- reboot phone
- after booting go to task manager and cleanup ram
- go to settings => applications => active services and kill unnecessary processes. (for example, when you close the facebook app, it still keeps running as a service, sometimes almost using 50MB ram)
i reduced lag in 9mm alot with the method above...
Is there a custom rom that has a very low ram consumption? that would fix this issues

how many ram does system take with that rom?
For games playing, 2.2.1(JSD) is a Must!

Reboot my phone. Clear memory with task manager. Kill active services... just to game? Why not just close some apps? Common sense, people. It's a brilliant thing.

Yes, it's called V6 Supercharger Script. It's like a ROM, but it's actually just a script... and you can run that script on whatever ROM you want. What it does, is it lets you pick a number. That number decides how much free RAM you'll have. Then, like magic, you just have it.

I can't use supercharger with semaphore kernel, and CF bigmem settings (98 mb) doesn't solve the performance issue.

No, custom roms, even so called simple and bare ones, use more ram than stock roms. I recommend ZSJPK 2.2.1, which has about 180mb of ram on boot, and an average of 120-140mb or ram after two days' usage.

Then you do it without the script. What's the problem here? I have over 2,000 games on my phone. And no, that wasn't a typo. None of them lag.

because android automatically closes apps when RAM is low and services always keep running in the background, whether you need them or not.
why would you let a service use your ram when you don't even need it? THAT is common sense.

I've rolled back to froyo and now without apps in the background i0ve about 140mb of ram used, and now 9mm goes smooth. I'm not moving from froyo any more.
Also, now the battery lasts in 6 hours of screen usage, and with jvt only 4 hours

Are they though? When I help someone out, I tell them correct information. If I don't know the correct information, I don't tell them anything. Why? Because incorrect information is worse than not helping at all. Few people in this thread have given remotely acceptable advice. No one needs to do a 3-step process, including rebooting your phone, just to play games; likewise, no one needs to downgrade to Froyo in order to game either.
I have Let's Golf! 3D installed currently, but I don't have the most recent revision of 9MM—although I have played it in the past. I have my phone's CPU and GPU overclocked, like I'm sure many of us do here, and I can play both without noticeable lag. I didn't have to reboot my phone to play them. I didn't have to uninstall apps to play them. I didn't have to flash an entirely new ROM to play them. And I certainly didn't need to stand on one leg with the phone above my head to play them.
Bad advice is just bad.

I posted what helped reducing lag in 9mm on my phone.
if you don't need the help i posted, that's too ****ing bad. the fact this topic was started shows people are facing the same problem with lack of usable ram memory for 9mm.
looks like you have some sort of magic phone with unlimited amounts of ram memory that never lags
the reason why i told him to reboot his phone is because ram usage is much less in most cases, right after booting up.
and btw, next time do some more effort instead of posting one line if my information is not correct
I've flashed my Glide so many times now I'm not certain, but I beleive I'm just running a stock kernel, 3.1.10-i927UCLG9 is what's listed. I have used System Tuner Pro for the longest and am pretty hooked on that app. I have tried NSTools as well though just to see, yet I still can not manage the clock speed. It does not appear to let me specifically set less than 760mhz from system tuner, and runs at 1ghz seemingly too often. Is it simply due to the kernel since the flash? Or as a newb, have I missed some detail somewhere? I'm hoping to get this sorted before I leave at 4am tomorrow for my brother's drill competition. Any help is appreciated if you can point me in the right direction! Thanks!
I've seen this too using lite kernel

What lag? :good:
As much as I would love to say lag isn't an issue it really is when listening to music or pod casts or how loading a file/app or using navigation..it's not much but it is there especially when you pull the notification shade down and look at the bouncy toggles..either way, ,this app doesn't do diddley squat so it's probably a programing issue.

Lag...
I have read a lot on the lag seen in Android as compared to something like iOS specifically. There is lag and there will always be more lag seen in Android as apposed to iOS, due to how the OS was designed, and priorities of certain system functions. iOS gives full priority over any other process to the GUI functionality, which gives iOS a major smooth GUI (so what right??). Android gives priority to other processes, and the GUI falls near the end, I don't think it even gives a priority other than the standard Linux process priority, so the GUI appears to have lag at times, especially if something else has priority over the GUI.
Personally, I feel it was done this way for many reasons, to include helping with battery life on a Linux based system. On my Note 2, I feel there is lag where there should not be, but it does not bother me like it may others. If you have a iPhagot standing next to you, they will always point it out. We are running quad core processors that should not have lag as the power is there, however, because of the priority of the GUI being lower than many other Android system services, we see it here and there.
As far as this program... I believe it is doing some CPU governor tweaking, possibly even freezing programs on sleep. I have seen some programs that trim what the vm's can use for memory as well, so I wonder if this could be part of it. Could simply be disabling certain GUI functions which allows the GUI to appear faster. There are tricks in this forum that show you how to disable some lockscreen functions which allows wake time to be almost zero, but I like the lockscreen functions, so I can deal with the sub second lag... who cares really you know?

while the gui priority lag theory is true, this is not what lag free is doing..
If you download the app you see that it works with fstrim. Some sort of memory trimming utility that helps the os make faster decisions cause it trims the fat.
im not sure all the technical details but when you download it it gives you a brief description.

My N2 makes me crazy when it gets warm.
When it reaches about 36 celsius degrees it starts with frequency limit of 800MHz.
The second step is making 2 cores offline and at last my gadget becomes limited to 2 cores at a max. of 500MHz.
It becomes almost unusable for me when in car. I use two navis in multiwindow (Waze and Sygic) and AutoGuard recording in background with FullHD and in about 5 minutes it's restricted hardly.
I know it's for safety reasons but I think it's too strict.
Is there a possibility to raise the thresholds of these by a few degrees?
What kernels support this?
There is a nice app called Android Tuner which is able to set these tresholds but it is for Qualcomm CPU-s only...
Thanks for any answers in advance!

Not exactly understand...
There must be a safe setting for it as with Perseus kernel the thresholds are higher, but not too much. I forgot to edit my question according my experiences with Perseus.
At least with Perseus I get a max of 1000MHz at most cases but it is not enough for me cause I use apps needing high resources.
Would You be so kind to write about the value to be changed in order to get higher thresholds?
If I understand you correctly. Then you could try trickster mod.
Or try saber kernel. I use this baked into the Jedi rom.

Thank You for the advice!
Now I had some time so I'm on Saber kernel and just testing.
The testing is awesome till now: the phone is working more powerful with this kernel and doesn't get hot so soon. :good:
Oh, now there is something strange, the programs get FC-s...
The phone is on charger, I ran AutoGuard in the background in FullHD, Sygic and Waze in MultiWindow, VideoPlayer in popup with a FullHD video and SuperPlayer in popup with another FullHD video. It was extremely fine but after a few minutes the players collapsed and AutoGuard had an error. The system is stable anyway. It seems I have to restart phone now...
Edit: After restart I got an old problem back: Dropbox is unable to run again... I loved Perseus because of this, on Perseus this problem was away... I hope that I won't get the other issue back with my WiFi... And it seems, AutoGuard became stupid too... :crying:
I don't give up and keep on trying to make them ok.
But I can't find the thermal control feature in Trickster Mod Donation altough I have just a minute for it.
I am reading Trickster webpage to get ahead...
Question: Are You using Jedi ROM and have no thermal problems?
In that case I'm going to try that ROM, cause I'm on hunting for a ROM that works with no problems for me.
I tried some lately and till now Omega v18 was the best amongst them. I tried MIUI, ProBam, Hawkish in the last days and I get problems with all of them or had non-working applications and/or features which ones are essentials for me...
Edit: mmmmmmmm, as see there is no Jedi ROM for international N7100...
hey bro,
wow you seem to be a bit more advanced than me so maybe ive reached the limit of the advice i can give you.
However, if you inform me how to check for thermal problems i will surely do that and then report back.
the saber kernel to the best of my knowledge is underclocked so if you try to o/c it maybe that will prevent your fc's. I have read in the various threads, of which the community is very helpful, of some issues for heavy users due to the u/c.
Regarding the jedi rom i am a uk 7105 user and to the best of my knowledge i thought it would also work for international 7100 users?!?!

Unfortunately the real test was horrible with Saber kernel, when I tested it in car the temperature got high soon and the thersholds were low again.
But it's a good idea to try o/c thank You very much!
I'll try it tomorrow, now I have to go to play Cod4...

Thank You again!
I got some experiences with the newest Saber kernel and I like it 'cause the first kernel I can use 100MHz step with and using 300MHz step too.
It seemes to be good at battery consumption too. My only problem that this kernel doesn't support STweaks so I can't regulate charging voltages like I used to. Perhaps only Perseus kernel makes it possible as I can't get any other programs for it till now. Or NEAK kernel and the new versions of AGNi pureSTOCK kernel as I read their pages. I'll try them some day. But Perseus is my favourite.
I think it's important to say that the kernel isn't UC/OC by default so this doesn't make any problems and it's not UV-ed too.
I set min. to 100MHz and max. to 1920MHz to test and it's stable till now. I tried to Overvolt slightly and had no change on media programs behavior they don't like each other as I see.
Trickster Mod is nice 'cause it shows the CPU temperature which was helpful to understand this regulations of thermal control are needed.
When I tested it turned out that CPU is below 70 degrees while the battery temparuture is 'only' about 40 degrees.
So thanks for Your kind advises!
wow. Ok i think i understood most of your post. probably a little bit over my head but i need to learn.
I really like the new kernel im getting 1% battery drain an hour with the screen off which truly is unheard of for me,
The kernel runs real smooth apart from when i play asphalt 8. Or i should say it runs smooth playing the game until the phone tries to do something else. For example if it attempts to update a programme or if a message/email comes through. then the game just lags and i have to wait for the phone to stop multi tasking before the car starts to move normally again.
So im surprised to read you say the kernel isn't uc/uv by default??? I was pretty positive it was. But i dont know for sure and im probably not clever enough to figure it out lol.
I wonder what settings i would need to increase to aid the phone in its multi tasking? Also there must be some kind of programme we could use that would test our specific phone/cpu and tell us which settings it would prefer. As i believe each phone will run slightly different?
You are right i remember reading the kernel does not work with stweaks.
I wish i could work with you and figure out how to optimise our settings but i simply dont have the skill set.
I presume you used trickster to overvolt slightly?

No, I didn't overvolt at last. But once I tried and didn't helped on my problems.
Unfortunately now I'm back on Perseus kernel again 'cause some issues with Saber. It became crazy every time and locked my CPU on 160MHz only and only reboot helped.
The other issue was the stuck system server process what was active all night and didn't stop hard work.
Now I'm on reading the kernel's page till I get cleverer on it... then I perhaps try it again 'cause I liked it.

Hi there
I have my Note3 Neo for a month now and it runs superb, love this device. However.. there are few 3D Games that glitch during gameplay
Beach Buggy Blitz- Starts up fine but after a while I start to notice game Glitches, The checkpoint clock and the Boxed graphics on the sides don't act as they should be. There other parts of the game that acting the same way.
Dungeon Hunter 4- (Great Game) Starts Fine, After a while all the characters lose their characteristics.. face.. sword details.. armor details.. etc..
PlayStation® All-Stars Island- The Game itself runs fine, but on the main menu (the Island) it like the 3D is broken (pieces disappear and appear again).
Other 3D Games like Kritika: Chaos Unleashed, Dead Space, Dark Avenger, Dead Triger run smoothly.
Just want to know if there is anyone else out there having the Same Problems or its just me.
P.S i read about Modern "Combat 5 not working" If thats the case Big.Little Possessor is there a way to fix this?
Thanks
Although the reviews compare it with snapdragon 800 and they say the cpu is on par and gpu os on par with adreno 320...however I have noticed games were much smoother on my Nexus 4. At SOME point on note 3 neo games do stutter.

I think u can control ur CPU
Hello Guys
This is my first ever post (or reply :silly on XDA  . I own a N3N (SM-N750 INDIAN VERSION). I bought this phone like a week ago, and i am enjoying it (except for the KNOX ). I rooted it the second day  and was playing around with it as i previously had a Galaxy Y :good: . I installed the same app (System Tuner) i used in my SGY to manage all the root level settings. I installed it on my N3N and first went into the CPU section and it actually displayed 6 CPUs (from CORE0 to CORE5) and also the first 4 cores which are based on Cortex A7 were clocked at 1.3 Ghz and the last 2 cores ie. CORE4 and CORE5 were clocked at 1.7 Ghz. And guess what it had all the options like configuring the speed of the cores, forcing them on or off and also changing governors (but i say dont change governors it freezes the phone then u have to pull the battery  ) and it had couple of other option to use on a rooted phone like FS Trimmer, Build prop tweaks (it works on mine no bootup issues ) entropy fixer (like seeder i think) sd card cache size, oom fixing, and all the other things u want on a rooted phone  . However i was not able to find any option to control GPU freq.
In short it was the best app I found till now to control various aspects of your N3N including CPU. :victory:
As I m a new member i cant post links i think :silly: just google "system tuner" and you will get it
As i mentioned earlier if it is my first post, if I did any mistake please forgive me
Hits thanks if I helped

Hi there
I have my Note3 Neo for a month now and it runs superb, love this device. However.. there are few 3D Games that glitch during gameplay
Thanks

Have a look at this App to change GPU speed
FYI just tried the GPU_OC up to see if it will do any difference to the games.. But now i get an "Unfortunately, System UI has stopped" error on the long press of menu button (recent apps). P.S i own an N3N 7505.
just saying as heads up..
The error was caused by the secure settings the apps asks you to download..
I belive custom kernel is needed for that kind of stuff
