T-Mobile S-OFF - T-Mobile HTC One (M8)

The APK name Sunshine and work perfectly. I use in my HTC M8 from T-Mobile. (Important) Use in a Stock (original rom only)
Search in google i can't post url : Sunshine S-OFF, by theroot ninja

fyi to other readers, it's a paid ($25) app. you can try to find an apk yourself, but if firewater is still valid, then just run that. works on most variants.

What is "soff"?

link
Here is the link its a lil crazy to charge 25 bucks for this though i didnt do it i can live with s-on for now
http://theroot.ninja/

What is "s-on"?
Why do I want "S" to be off?

s-on and s-off are lock states, you want s-off to change your bootloader etc.

Problem is people commit to making a bounty and they never get paid...trust me it's need eventually..should it be free...??not saying u are complaining...price is fair enough

15 is fair 25 is a bit too much in my opinion at least for me it is i switch phones out every few weeks to a month so

At lest you can use it again if u needed with out the extra cost... That's cool

Only on the same device its 25 per device so if you get an insurance claim and get a new phone you have to buy it again

I'm just waiting for a 'coupon' day.

While i agree with you, they seem to be the only ones who found how to soff so they can charge what they want... Hopefully someone else figures out how to do it and charges less as it is too steep for me (i would only use it to remove the red text which is not worth 25 buck for me)

I relocked the bootloader then took the ota and now I can't get the bootloader unlocked. How do I get it unlocked again? When I try to use the sunshine all again it say it can't gain root from supersu. What do I do?

Before we had a "software" root which is done on the computer, the only way to root the inc2 was with an"XTC clip" this gives a FULL NAND un-lock and is irreversible, so once you have s-off you're stuck with that, un-like the software root that later came u can turn back to s-on.
but yet XTC clip is something you must buy, or pay someone to "use"

Yes. That's why all the global enabled ROMs (sense based) are all based off of the stock firmware so global works well. SkyRaider is the best example of this. It's stock firmware with sense 3.0 stuff added to it.

Bootloader Unlock

I have a Verizon HTC One that I purchased on the device payment plan. I have searched here and you tube to see if I can unlock the bootloader to install custom roms. I know it has the old bootloader version of 1.54. Any help will be great before my return Window closes.
Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 2
No hope of boot loader unlock on that firmware currently. Only option is send to sonic for s-off. Or change carriers to att or someone else and get a one from them, I returned my Verizon one and did just that and couldn't be happier.
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
Verizon has blocked the bootloader from being unlocked via HTCDev. Currently, the ONLY way to unlock is to send it to Sonic. Visit this thread:

So you are against sending it out to get s-off'd by sonic? That's a permanent root for you...
If not, do some research before you purchase a new $600 device. If root is a MUST for you please take time to make sure a new phone will fit your needs in this matter before you waste their time with return of an otherwise GOOD product.
I apologize if this sounds snarky.... that's not my intent.

If you kept your old phone, reactivate that one, send your One to Sonic to get S-Off (for a very reasonable fee... the java cards are expensive!), then when you get it back, reactivate the one. Done and done!

more development will be on the htc one maxx than this phone (unfortunately HTC kinda did again - what they did with the HTC Inc4g I just hope this community actually stays and doesn't leave), not saying that it will get S-OFF faster, but it will have more of a community than us, which = more bounty money = more developers working on exploits. Personally I can't use a phone bigger than 5' large. Again, this is just an opinion from word around the water coolers.

Problems with Freedom (I-AP purchases)

So I just rooted my M8 and one of the main reasons I rooted was for Freedom, which is the free In-App purchase app (I'm sure you knew that). Anyways, I can't get it to work and I really think it's a HTC One (M8) issue, because in YouTube comments and everything, I've seen a lot of people say they have a problem with using it on this phone. I've tried several Google Play Store unlockers, I've done the little trick where you change the time zone to Moscow and no matter what I try, It won't work Now, I either one of two scenarios each time. It either crashes my phone and forces a reboot, or it'll lose connection to the Google Play store. I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but the root didn't come with Busybox (I can't get that to install, flashed or apk, either) and I don't have S-OFF. But if anyone has any idea whats going on, or has a M8 that has Freedom working on it, I'd love anyone's help and input. Thanks!!

Yeah it sucks. Looks like firewater is outdated. The only way to achieve s-off is by downloading an application called SUNSHINE. It unlocks your boot loader and gives you s-off. But the catch is that it costs $25. Its the only method at the moment unfortunately.

I have another question if you could answer this.. All of these people are flashing Roms and then obtaining S-OFF, I just unlocked boot loader and rooted stock ROM. And I really, really don't want to flash another ROM because I've literally spent all day redownloading apps and setting everything back up to how it was. Do I have to flash a new ROM for S-OFF? Or can I just do it how it is now? Like I said, it's a rooted stock ROM. CWM installed, too.

Yes Sunshine works on all updates currently, all though according to someone else somewhere it may be patched soon. Either way for now it works on all firmware. Sunshine will root your phone then unlock the bootloader and S-OFF your phone.

I watched a video on YouTube that said a person needs to unlock their boot loader first. Then do the sunshine s off. So you're saying it does all of this by itself? If so then it's definitely worth the 25 bucks because I've never seen an app do all of this myself although I've only been modding for 3.5 years.

Yes the M8 I am currently using was not rooted, unlocked or S-OFF when I got it and I used Sunshine and it rooted my phone and unlocked/S-OFF'd it all at once. Maybe the video you watched was for an older HTC phone before things were as simple, either way Sunshine does it all and is well worth the $25 if you want to mod things.
Lastly don't degrade yourself because you've only been modding for 3.5 years, to me that is quite an achievement that I wish I personally had. I've only really been interested in phones since my S4. Ever since then I've been addicted to modding my phone to the fullest.

I can't get T-Mobile service where I live sadly so I'm a Verizon user. Though if you're asking that because you're wondering if it only works on Verizon models then no, it works on all variants. It says so on the official thread also if that makes you any less worried.
SunShine has been updated and no longer needs your device to be rooted or unlocked before running. SunShine will gain root itself, and unlock/s-off every variant of the m8 currently. Cheers!
