Charging Issue with Unlocked Bootloader - LG Optimus G (International)

Hi there.
I don't know if there is already answered but i have a charging issue right after i unlocked my bootloader.
First things first, i flashed my Ε975 with 4.4.2 (via KDZ Updater).
I turned off the phone and it was charging well enough.
Then i rooted my phone with towelroot and unlocked bootloader with FreeGee.
Unfortunately, i turned off the phone, put it in charge but something happened.
It appeared a full-battery icon and the phone afte 3 seconds rebooted itself.
What exactly happened and how can i fix this problem?
Thank you in advance.

Its known bug....

Blank screen after unlocking (E975) / abnormal boot-behavior

Hi everbody!
After unlocking my LGOG (E975) a weird issued appeard: When phone is in standby and I try to boot it up as always (before unlocking) by Long pressing standby-button for a few moments, the LG logo comes up, and then only a black blank Screen (after 10 minutes or so this repeats) If I immedeately after disappearing LG-logo I press the standby-button again, the well known animated logo appears and everything is OK.
On the other Hand: when I connect a completely battery-empty LGOG ONLY the black Screen appears, after some reboots with hold standby-button the White battery loading Symbol appears...
Has it something to do with Fast-Boot (how to change any options?) or with unlocking via FreeGee. So far I was unable to find any similar issues like this... It bothers me always to press standby-button twice to boot up. If I missed the correct Timing I have to hold standby to turn off the phone correctly. Please help me!! Thank you guys!!
Wrong thread dude.
Oops, thanks man. Could an admin please move my thread to the Q&A section? Thanks!

Same here. I wanted to write about this myself. Did you Install TWRP or CWM? Someone who useses exactly the same SW baseband kernel and LG ROM like me as a base does not have the issue and we were trying to figure it out. He unlocked installed CWM and CM10.1.

OK, so getting back to business i can see this is a problem when charging the phone. If i shutdown, then charge then in the morning unplug > phone shuts down again (from charging mode) and i power it up it doesn't boot the ROM.
I tested this situation and i saw that sometimes it doesn't even enter charging mode after a shutdown. I will test later and comeback. Maybe others can relate and give ideas.

Hello,
I have the exact same problem with my Lg e975.
If the battery is empty , i can not turn my phone on while charging. I think it is not even charging sometimes. I thought it was because of charger but i think it may because of phone.
Today i am charging 10 minutes still phone going black screen after LG logo. :crying: even not sure if it is charging.

Any solution for this? I have the same happen to my e975. I figure using freegee somehow corrupted the bootloader, so plan on either flashing a new bootloader or just an official update from LG and start from scratch again? Has anyone tried this?

Problem is its my wife's phone so wont try it until i get my nexus 5 and she can use my nexus 4 if i brick it.
***edit*** according the Houstonn, the bootloader located here: http://downloads.codefi.re/houstonn/lgog/misc/cwm-geeb-4-3-z20i-bootloader_only.zip it should be able to be used on any LGOG. IF you are game give it a go but i won't be responsible for any bricks. I will test it when i get my nexus 5. Its a 4.3 bootloader that can be flashed using CWM.

No idea mate. I assume you would have to find a full stock rom and just flash that via normal update methods. I don't plan on ever going back to the crap that LG call stock.

Happened again just now.
The problem is when it is at this strange black screen it is not charging!
Just i put my phone to charge left there 1 hours. Just wanted to turn on but didn't. Pluged of the charger and phone is not booting because battery seems to empty. Just i put it back to charge and restarted it 10 times nearly. Now the phone turned on and started to recharging from 0!
I feel like phone going and coming back to life. Some day will not turn on.
Ya.. . Lg phones has this weird behaviour.... Even with charger plugged and empty battery you can't switch on your mobile... I think it always take power from battery even with charger connected....

[Q] [Possible} Dead battery on New phone

So I got a new ZL from Newegg and I put CM 10.1.3 on it and it was working perfectly for 3 weeks.
Well this morning it started to act weird. Updating Apps prompt came up, random reboots. Then suddenly I wasn't able to boot into CM 10. It boots up to show the Clockworkmod android logo, but as soon as it starts to boot up CM, it shuts off.
I tried Factory Resetting it, wiping dalvik cache, wiping cache, wiping battery stats, everything. I even went back to the stock ROM, and nothing. I'm thinking it's a bad battery problem but.. I really hope that it isn't. It's a new phone.
Any help is very much appreciated!
*EDIT*
I also forgot to mention that I can power it on and it works perfectly fine only when plugged into a power source.

CWM don't use to many off battery power, that's why it didn't shut down on you...any other app or when it on, it uses battery more...so it will randomly reboot....if you don't know what to do, you can only send it to Sony servise center for repair....if you have warranty, you should relocked your bootloader and unroot your device...

Hey @goldbolt did you find out what the problem was? Because I have the exact same problem, it stays on when I'm in CWM but doesn't boot into CM but if I plug it in a power source it works fine. I'm really hoping you know what the problem is or if you found a way to solve it. Thanks in advance!

So I kind of did figure out the problem. I re-locked the bootloader and put the stock un-rooted ROM back on there and I called up a Sony representative (got the number from newegg reps) and we very painfully slowly walked through just trying to upgrade the system software with PC companion but alas, it was all in vain. So I was instead that I was still covered under warrenty and to just send it in and we would go from there. He also said that it's a larger than not chance that I won't have to pay anything for repairs. But basically... just send it in man. I'm very sad and bothered by this but oh well. Nothing much I can do now. I hope I helped you out.
Did you relocked it using flashtool? and where did you get the stock unrooted rom? sorry for bothering, but i really don't want to brick my useless phone lol

Yeah, I relocked using flashtool and I put the stock rom back on there via flashtool as well. I got the stock rom from http://www.xperiablog.net/forum/resources/categories/xperia-zl.9/ and just flashed it over when I connected it (by holding down the VOL Down button and plugging it into my computer).

CM10.2 after 4.3 OTA?

Hi Everyone,
I updated my s3 to 4.3 OTA. and then battery drain + slow charging + etc made me decide to flash CM 10
I followed a tutorial here to root the phone (because knox) and put latest CWM on, and flash CM 11 (unofficial one from this site), I got an status 7 error, then I found out I can only flash a CM 10.1 nightly build. for all other CM rom I tried, I got same error.
Now my suspicion is the new modem I747UCUEMJB,
Can I downgrade this to older modem and tried to flash CM 10.2 or 11?
By the way, although I am lucky to put 10.1 on my phone, the camera does NOT work.

you're going to need to flash a new version of CWM to be able to flash a 4.4 ROM such as CM11. You can update it through ROM manager. If you need an odin'able (not sure if that's a word) .tar file I can provide.

UPDATE,
Yesterday, I flashed LK3 modem, the phoen would not connect to tower. otherwise fully functional.
Then I did something stupid, I flashed the LK3 bootloader.
Then my phone won't turn on, won't respond to vol+/- + home+ power
Now I ordered an USB jig from ebay trying to get into the factory downloading mode.
Anyone here share the same experience here?
I do not share your experience but I want to tell you that it was not smart to downgrade your modem. That causes the device to brick due to Samsung's KNOX. My advice from now on is to search the forum for answers and if you find none, to ask about it and wait patiently. As of now, you may be able to try new rooting methods for the 4.3 OTA but I am not sure it will work out. Which means you might have to, if your phone is still under warranty, send it in to have it fixed.
And as for the problem you had before with flashing CM11, that is because you need to be on CWM 6.0.4.3+ or the newest TWRP. I believe it to be 2.3.6.1 or 2.6.3.1. I think it is the first one.
Best of luck to you in fixing this, though. Hopefully you can. If not, you will have to send it in or something similar.
Hope this has helped you to the fullest extent that it can.

Sorry to give you bad news, but a USB jig will do nothing for you other than give you a shortcut to holding Power + Down + Home since you have hosed the bootloader.
You will need to restore your bootloader following the same procedure I did 2 days ago.

I am glad there is a fix for the brick now.
I just sent my phone to a USB JTAG service. will that put earlier bootloader modem rom back on it? I am kind of reluctant to put the 4.3 on it now.

[Q] Problem after unlocking bootloader with Freegee

Hi Guys,
I recently unlocked the bootloader of my Optimus G (E987 flashed to E975) using Freegee (Downloaded from the market) and installed TWRP. I did a back up of the EFS partition before this.
Now, I'm having some weird issues when charging the phone while it's off. I noticed that I have a new charging animation and after a few seconds it disappears like the screen it's going to turn off but it never does!! It stays on a black/gray screen but is still on as you can see the brightness. It never turns off! Also, if I unplugged the phone and hit the power button the screen turns on and the charging animation appears, like the phone was still charging :/
I need some help! I downloaded an alternative bootloader. What should I do? Should I flash the alternative bootloader and will this solve the problem?
thanks!!

Do you selected MAKO bootloader, or STOCK bootloader?
I will explain quickly. STOCK bootloader had that problem, you cant charge your phone when its off. We have the MAKO alternative because it work fine, i mean you can charge it off.

Hi!! I installed the STOCK bootloader :/ So what's the solution? What can I do now to fix this? Should I "unblock" the bootloader again installing MAKO bootloader? I also downloaded, from the forum, an alternative bootloader (cwm-geeb-4-3-z20i-bootloader_only.zip).
By the way, I didn't see an option to send you a private message!

The only problem is that the screen doesn't completely turns off while charging the phone when it's off.

Is not a ROM problem, is a bootloader problem. With mako i dont have this issue. But i hear that some people have issues charging with phone off.
with any bootloader. simple charge it with phone on, or restore bootloader backup and go to stock rom...

hmmm... i install mahdi rom ... and i don't notice this issue. than it's not just a bootloader prob i think.anyway!

Zenfone 2 only boots Android when plugged in a USB.

So I was using my phone normally yesterday, until it shuts down randomly while using the camera. So I restarted it, but it still restarted as I got to my home screen. So I said to myself that there must be something went wrong in the rom that I am using (which is LOS 14.1), but I've got a backup before **** happened, not to worry, after I restored it though, IT STILL RESTARTED, but the weird part is, It doesn't restart if it is charging. So I wondered maybe the battery has given up, but in the TWRP, it doesn't restart even unplugged?
Things that I had tried:
1. Tried a new rom (this time using BORETS ROM), still restarts when unplugged.
2. Ran the backup again, still no change.
3.Drained my battery in TWRP, charged it up to 100%, still restarts.
Also, when I boot up my phone without a USB cable plugged in, It restarts when loading the main rom (the rom's splash screen, not the main splash screen), PLEASE HELP ME.

It's a ZE551ML and I currently have returned to stock boot loader and recovery image, but the time that it happened I was on TWRP 3.0.3-M4. Why'd you ask?

Have you got IFWI version 0094.0183 in bootloader and M stock recovery ?
If you have , you can use my downgrade from M to LP via SD card from my signature below
If, when back in LP .196 -- You still have the same problem , you will be looking at an hardware and not software problem :good:

The problem just seems very weird to be a hardware problem , So, again, after charging my phone up to 100 percent, booted it up to Android and then unplugged it, and I had about a minute of activity now before it shuts down. Again in recovery or boot loader, it never shuts down.
Do me a favour , test with cable attached to phone but detached from charger to rule out USB socket , cable etc:good:

If its out of warranty , i would first check all connections inside phone ,
it could be battery
it could be main board or usb board.
If it were battery though , it should shut down connected to lower amp pc usb2.
Not much you can do really apart from above, usb boards are cheap`sh to buy, maybe worth the gamble ? Obviously if connections dont fix before ditching if main board. Try a discon of all connections and reconnect before ditching
I have the EXACTLY same problem.
Did you solved?
Guys, I know it's been a long time this question was asked, but I'm having the exact same problem since a week.
@owenreilly @Xnin47 any luck on solving it?
Thanks a lot!

Wow this is an old problem. Nope, I didn't fix it, instead I was back on my Galaxy Alpha until I moved on to newer phones. I believe the problem though was the battery, so if you want, you can replace that. Sorry for the late reply bro!

Hey dude! I've replaced my battery 3 weeks ago based on a Brazilian forum and it was, indeed, the culprit haha. Now everything is back on track again.
Thanks a lot for the answer
