Hey guys,
I have been having spen issues for a long time now. Stock, rooted, or different roms dont change it. When the spen is docked the screen is like super sensative around the spen dock location. Constantly vibrates when using touch screen with fingers. Pops up spen commands while docked. Shows spen is detached when its not. When I take spen out everything is fine. When I put it away and just tap the end of the spen it can trigger spen removal notification. So annoying. Whats my solution? Anyone else have this happen?
Anyone?
maybe?
I had an issue with my pen on my note 2 where the tip was permanently being pressed down, and it made my note go crazy. Maybe there is something in the pen hole that is depressing the tip down when you insert the pen?
Maybe there's a way to go in and adjust the spen settings. I know there was a way to calibrate the s pen on the note 2

I will check out the inside where the pen docks. Not sure thats the issue and I dont think its software related. I might take it down to Best Buy and try a new spen and see if mine is just faulty. Thanks

You need to adjust the potentiometer located under the button, there are videos on youtube.
Still have the same Spen issue.
Hey guys,
Now that the tablet has been put so long, anyone e else had this issue I posted a long time ago? Samsung wants $350 to fix this issue outside warranty. That is ridiculous. So I am stuck with the tablet being super sensitive to touching the side of the tablet where the spen is, while docked, and acting like it's being pulled out. Causing it to always interupt my activities and say Spen detached and pop into Recent Notes. So annoying. About ready to throw this in the trash. Please help.
I think S-pen is faulty since tablet works fine with pen removed. Did you try:
1) Using a different S-pen
2) Reinstalling stock firmware
3) Adjusting S-pen Potentiometer suggested above
4) Check out XDA post: 'Very Sensitive S-pen' by bobotski.

I tried stock firmware, not the rest. I will give those a try. Could it be something internal or more likely the spen?

I suspect that the S-pen is faulty since the tablet works fine without the S-pen.

My phone does not alert me if I walk away from my S Pen even though I have that option checked, does this not work yet? Also when I use to pull my pen out I would get an icon in the upper left telling me the pen was out.... I no longer get that icon when I take my pen out. Anyone know why?

Same here. I wonder if it has to do with a custom launcher cause im not rooted and the only mod ive made is installed Apex launcher.
Just tested, mine doesnt seem to alert me either

Forgot to add im not rooted. The thing bothering me the most is not getting the Pen icon in my notification bar anymore. I feel like I may forget to put my pen baxk.

I'm rooted, running Frosty JB rom, and Nova prime launcher. I still get the notification that the pen is out and still get alerted if I walk away without the pen attached.
If the phone isn't realizing that the pen has been detached in the first place, why would it alert you that you've walked away from it?
Tried rebooting?
Its crazy it seems hit or miss I've never received the alert and I walked away 30 feet for minutes

You need to have the screen locked AND off. So far it's been 100% when those requirements are set for me. It won't go off a second time if you didn't put the pen back into the silo though unless you unlock the screen after the first warning and you are not within 2 ft of your pen.

+1. Make sure the screen is locked and off. From my understanding, it's an accelerometer deal. Leave your pen somewhere, walk away with it in hand and sway your arms a bit or shake your hand. I went about 30-40 feet and then it went off.
As for the S Pen icon...make sure you have Page Buddy on an S Pen Page check marked also. I'm rooted running Frosty JB and Apex Launcher instead of Touchwiz. I get the notification that it's detached, but the S Pen Page doesn't show up as it's a Touchwiz thing.

The phone does recognize the pen has been detached. When I slide the pen out, the phone beeps and opens up the pen note pad.

That worked! I had page buddy deleted, and just put it back on and now I have the icon again!

I recently noticed that the S-Pen is having a slight issue with my S-Note. I used to be able to click the button on the S-Pen to change from write mode to erase mode. I don't believe I changed anything other than rooting my phone. I'm still running stock ROM and with no custom recovery. Anyone know of a way to get this function back? I searched but all I could find were issues with the S-Pen being too sensitive or just not working. Thanks for any help.
*Update*
I recently found that if I hold the S-Pen button and double tap the screen to bring up the quick note, I can change from write to erase by clicking the button on the S-Pen but the ability to do so in the normal S-Note app still isn't working.
Maybe spen don't work man. Idk what to tell ya seems to be a problem in the pen itself

I would say that your SPen just needs to be replaced. I had a customer the other day in the sprint store I work at with a similar issue. We called samsung they are sending her another Spen.
Well I'm glad to hear in not the only one with this problem but it's still perplexing that it works on the quick note but not the s-note app itself. I will contact Samsung and inquire about a replacement. Thanks!

I can't get air command to work... befoer you ask, yes it is on in the settings. Tried it from a whole days worth of playing, and then did a factory reset. No joy. I did have success with every other s-pen function, but the air command just won't come up... it does when you first pull out the pen, but not once it is out. Maybe its a bug... There is no action memo app either. Air command is the only way into the action memo. No action memo widget either.
Anyone else notice this?

Nevermind... I am an idiot.. On DN3 ROM on my Note 2, you held the button. The Note 4 uses a click and release on hover.... ooops.
You may now spend the next 20 posts pointing out my stupidity... go ahead, I deserve it. (I even did a factory reset and cleared 3 hours of work customizing it)

lol, sounds like something i would do
Either we are both retarded or something is wonky.
I can't get it to pop up consistently using the button and hover thing. The only way it works every time is if I stick the pen back in and pull it out. Not sure if I'm holding my tongue right. :silly:
not saying you both are retarded but it seems to be ok here on my end, hover and click (air command seems to show up on the RELEASE when you click)

OK, click off screen, hover then let go. Works fine, kind of clunky though.

Actually I am on DN3 now and tried it both ways. It works either way on DN3.

On to other parts of my initial post... I am not so sure about the s-note/action memo implementation. I like the fact that they have basically fully committed to its intigration into the interface... but its a different workflow than what I was used to. I used action memo alot... and s-note not so much. They have combined them in such a way that you are very much committed to using both to some extent.
(as for the air command... works great now that I know how.)
After update of note 4 to marshmallow... option of air command is there however it's grey and dosent seem to respond ..... however pen works fine and other features work.... selecting and opening up note etc

Hi,
I want to ask, what's happened with my P600 screen. What's this near "home" button?
These dots are under the screen (glass).
It doesn't seem to effect the touchscreen but this could become a future problem. Picture will be attached (though it could be hard to see).
Maybe screen digitizer has broken?
Its need to replace a screen or screen digitizer?
Thank you for advance

No its not dangerous. It's just a cosmetic issue thats all ... depends if you care enough to give it to Samsung to fix. Personally I would just leave it as once repaired it wont come back the same but then again some people are different and the bubbles at the bottom would annoy them.

Good news. I received my tablet from RMA with new screen.
But there is another problem. Tablet "see" that S-Pen is always removed from tablet and always active although S-Pen inside. When I remove it, there is no vibrate and sound. When I put S-Pen again inside, there is no vibrate and sound too. More, is always active icon on the top of left screen corner when S-Pen inside in the dock. I try turn off S-Pen detection function and did factory reset but problem still exist.
General question: when service replaced screen, the new screen comes (includes) with new S-Pen dock or new S-Pen or not? I think was damaged sensor in the dock.
I attached screenshot of my tablet.

Well I dont even get any S-Pen notifications. I used to but about 6 months back it just stopped poping up. It still vibrates to let me know its been removed but no notifications so I'm not too fussed as it still works fine.
@Sunrise2000 Yeah I did say this would probably happen. They fix one fault and you end up with another...hence I said if you can live with it then don't get it repaired BUT anyway ... call them up and let them know of the new problem.

Yeah most likly as he doesnt get any feedback when removing to storing s-pen.
S-PEN has taken on a life of it's own ! No longer works as before now it does not select items it just scrolls the whole display when hovering over the screen. Using finger device operates normally but S-PEN no longer operates like it did. Does not select items or open links just scrolls the display. Anyone know how to fix this issue please ?
Can you borrow another S Pen to test? Let's hope it's not a phone issue.
no......I don't know anyone else with one.....does the S-PEN need charging some how....?

The S Pen Pro is BT, and requires charging. The Fold edition doesn't. The way it works is like magic.
