Ok this is a strange problem...so here goes....
I was happy to see fb messenger added a 15 second video clip u can send within the application...so i used it a lot when chatting my gf.
Well I updated the rom from Insane Kitkat 8 to 9 and now whenever i hold the take picture button it no longer takes video. Any Ideas? i've searched Google high and low and nothing on it thus far..anyone else have this problem?
Can anyone confirm that you can actually still take videos with fb messenger? hold down the take a picture button within fb messenger and see if it starts recording video...Is it possible they took the feature out? I've tried several roms and none seem to work.

That wouldn't actually be an issue with the ROM in the first place. The only way it could have anything to do with the ROM would be if the Facebook app was baked in; but that would only be as far as the ROM developer making a change to the Facebook apk unique to the particular ROM. If you downloaded the app from the Play Store then it is almost certain that the feature was removed.

I reinstalled the new Sickness rom and it works for some reason. I'm thinking it's because it now shows up as the international version the 9505i instead of the SG919. I don't know why that would be, maybe that video feature is disabled for US users? crazy enough maybe...everything else is the same.

Hello guys, I just recently rooted my android phone and I installed a custom rom (Nebula 1.0.7) However whenever I use any video messaging app (Yahoo, Qik, and Fring) I notice that my camera is always sideways and I appear the same way towards the other guy. My front camera would always appear to be sideways even if I were to rotate my phone.
I never had this problem before, is there any way to 'mirror' my camera so that it would look upright?
Any help would be very appreciated
Same thing here. I don't think there is a fix for this until we get the official froyo.
Thats quite a shame, I wonder why they can't seem to fix it.
No matter ,its hardly a issue
Yeah I know. It does suck. First time I updated to froyo and saw that I was like wtf? Lol.
Sent from my Evo Killer!!!
I had the same issue running stock DK28. Sometimes it would rotate correctly, others not. I'm sure it will get fixed soon enough!

Its Screen Rotation Lag.....I believe? I have been trying to fix that for a month or so myself to no avail. Its just a matter of time and a fix will become available. (Froyo/NebulaROM7Sisters-Ext4CWM3)
I think I found the Fix, Download spare parts from the Market. Open it, in the section marked transitions....set that to fast. I just tried it and cleared up all lag for me.

You're. Thinking of something completely different. Its video chat he's. Taklking about
sent from my Epi[demi]c:-D
I use oovoo and it works very well. I know it's a hassle downloading yet another video chat program but it's quite a bit smaller than Yahoo! video and actually works better.
You can video chat from phone to computer, phone to phone, etc.

Yeah I figure I though i would ask. I seen an Ad of The The Shift @ the top and it look like the Incoming screen was Full Screen.
best thing i can recommend is using
the appmarket that doesnt make you pay, try a few the buy the one that works best.
not sure if i can name that market or if its wares. but buy the one that is best and support the developer.

I use FULL SCREEN CALLER ID and i ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT
It truely is an awesome program.. I found it online and downloaded it for free, but in order to get it to work correctly (i.e. sync all the facebook photos) i had to download and install the old version, then upgrade to the new version .. when i just downloaded the new version the sync would never work, it only worked when i installed the old version, then upgraded to the new version...
But it allows you to sync all your friends facebook photo's and go in and use your own Hi-Def pictures for all your friends.. It truly does look amazing when you an 8 megapixel photo you took with your EVO to make a full screen photo when someone calls, the picture quality is so crisp and clean.. I love this app, it's definitely in my top 5 favorite apps... there is a free version and a paid version of the app in the market, i think the paid version is like 5 bucks or less.. But i would 100% recommend this app, It also allows for modificaiton of the answer/call buttons and other animation stuff too, along with Full Screen photo's for text messaging and missed calls too..it's great, Once you start using full screen photo's for text's and phone calls youll never ever ever ever go back to using the linky dinky mini little pictures stock rom uses, The program is very well made and very nice and professionally done, and it looks very clean and minimalistic
agreed FULL SCREEN CALLER ID is the way to go
How can I make a favorites page in the phone app? It's a bummer having to scroll through 200 contacts when I frequently use only 8 on a daily basis.
Does anyone know of a good notes application similar to the iPhone one? I used Gmail sync on the iPhone (so my notes are saved) and just need a no hassle way to save text quickly.
Can I somehow get a few of the Samsung apps back? I suppose the only thing I really miss at this moment is the voice recorder...
Thanks,
T

To add favorites (they appear on the 3rd tab in the Phone app), open their contact and click the Star up in the top-right corner.
That's a negative on samsung apps. Go find a voice recorder in the market.

The "best" note app is EverNote

I've been using Easy Voice Recorder for quite a while now (though the free version has a recording limit of something like 1 hour). It even includes a widget for instant recording. Give it a try. The S3 with noise cancellation makes for an excellent recording device. I've dubbed its audio tracks over video and after a little audacity post-process you'd be hard-pressed to tell it wasn't recorded on a pro microphone.
None of the Samsung apps will be coming to CM or AOKP, because their fangs are sunk too deep into the touchwiz framework itself and can't stand alone.
Thanks for the detailed reply. EverNote seems like it will let me record audio and also attach some text with it, which will be ideal for song demos while I'm working out the lyrics. If that doesn't work I'll give EVR a try.
Who knows, I may end up going back to TouchWiz once the official Jelly Bean update is out, but I'm really enjoying CM in the meantime.
Am I the only one that hates the built in Gallery App and how slow it is when you have a lot of pics.
This isnt a problem as I have QuickPic installed. However the Messaging (and Mail) add do NOT give you a list of image pickers when you attached (very anti Android HTC)
Can someone fix this? Or know a solution.
Thanks
Dan

I quite like the stock gallery, it's smooth for me and is a whole world smoother than the stock gallery on the S3 and S4. QuickPic is nice though

I have 37 albums with 50-100 pics in teach. Trust me it's slow, and every time I attach a pic it defaults to events install of albums.

Anything will be a bit slow if its got a possible 3700 photos, especially since it's always auto generating zoes on the fly. Not sure about the whole events thing, if I pick Albums it stays as albums, even if I add new photos. Sounds like you'd be better off just using QuickPic to be honest and you'll just have to work with the Gallery as it is. Maybe try a different messaging app and see if it lets you dictate what app to use when attaching photos.
Edit: I'm using GoSMS. Tried attaching a photo as SMS and it brought up a list of apps to choose from (gallery, dropbox etc)

Thanks but thats the issue really.
I am using a combination of Handcent and Stock - the reason I have to go to stock is sending MMS over Wifi (TMobile). Handcent doesnt support that.
So its just an annoyance but one I was hoping to resolve by just using Stock - but without it being able to attach from 3rd party Galleries it is a problem.
I am just frustrated that HTC didn't make their Messaging/Mail app support the normal Android methods of attaching files and providing a list of compatible apps.
Also of note - when you are in QuickPic and you Share a Image - the messaging App doesn't appear. Which again - bad HTC Bad!!!

Yeah that really is silly of them, forcing you to use their apps pretty much. Same as how they've made it so that only their official headset with volume controls actually work. All other 3 button headsets can only skip tracks
try uninstalling the default gallery
Did anyone else notice that Facebook Messenger has become really sluggish after the update to Lollipop? I am running the latest Viper Lollipop ROM and for some reason Facebook Messenger has been performing really poorly. I tried rebooting the device and reinstalling the app to no avail. I'd write a message and after I hit send, it'd just lag the whole device (kinda like freeze it) for a while and then come back to life.
I'm not sure if anyone else is experiencing that, but I believe I've read similar complaints about it so I thought I should ask for information and/or advice.
Are there similar apps to Facebook Messenger than work better than it does? IM+ perhaps?
Thanks guys!
Hi, I'm on stock Lollipop and don't experience any problems.
Try to use the search function a bit better next time

I'm on stock and the app is fine until i send a message it then lags for ages until the message has sent then it is fine again until i send another message. I've been tempted to cleare the cache/data for the app and give it another go. So yeah i'm having the same issue as you.

Thank you! I am sorry I just thought of starting a new thread since I didn't see any recent one dedicated to it (may have missed it) - my apologies. I tried the one where I disabled the in-app sounds and it seems to have worked!
I was having the same issue on ViperROM but i guess i got an update today and now the messenger is working smooth.
Okay, just figured it out. disable "Use NuPlayer" option from your devlopers setting and the messenger would work fine.
