reboot

Go to system/priv-app
Delete your current LGMessage.apk
Move the new one to system/priv-app
Make sure permissions are set rw-r--r--
Reboot

Anyone having issues with this? I did the manual install. I renamed the old file to apk.bak and placed the new file in. Rebooted and. The app wouldn't open. I tried installing it and that got the app to open but I couldn't send any messages. After another reboot the app wouldn't open again. Wentback to the stock app for now.

Did you fix permissions ?
I have it working after realizing you have to rename the message.odex file to .bak as well. Make sure permissions are rw-r-r

This has to be it. I didn't even think about the odex file. My phones are normally on a deodexed Tom. Thanks will try now and update.
Update edit.
I renamed the odex file and that seemed to have fixed the issue. Been using it for a few days. It won't send mms over WiFi though

Thanks for the file. Unfortunately I don't use windows. I use Linux which allows me to see the sdcard but not anything else. I copied the file onto the sdcard and then tried to use terminal commands to move it but it failed. I also tried installing a few different file manager apps which ask me to install the file but end up failing also. Any ideas?

If you use terminal, you problably have root acces.
Search market, or google, because I cant post it here.
Search ROOT EXPLORER, install it, give it root acces, and copy the file to /system/app then install it and reboot.

OK I got as far as coping Settings.apk to /system/app with root explorer it will not allow me to install Settings.apk.

Hmm dont know then.. Maybe you cant just 'install' system apps..

You should be able too if you have root acces, when copied to /system/app.. Maybe permissions werent right??

Are you sure you need libnativedocviewer.so ? Have you tried installing apk without this lib? If not, try to do so. If Polaris won't work without lib, install attached zip using recovery.

You need these libs. unzip the attachment and copy the libs to /system/libs and change the permisiions to RW-R-R then install the polaris apk that you have. I do this on every rom i flash and i never had any problems. Currently running CM10 with no issues
Please note - This is NOT flashable in recovery

Odd... I have copied the libs and then the apk, then changed permissions but polaris still crashed when opened. Any ideas? Could you explain how you did yours?
Edit: Okay, maybe there is something wrong with my apk. Just so that I am not wondering, I gonna try going back to stock ROM to extract Polaris's apk. But, can someone point me to an instruction on how to extract boot.img from a nandroid backup?

Pleased it worked for you.
I use these files each time i flash a new rom. I actually just put them in the rom zip in relevent folders and it gets flashed with the rom.

That's a good idea. Maybe I'll try that next time. It will save a lot of time instead of copying then changing permissions one by one.

i cannot tried transferring to the system>data with correct permissions but the file wont appear. so then i tried to install and i get "error while parsing the package". on my older rom stock deodexed XXEMC2 it was working fine ( i guess it was the version before update) but on wanamlite v6 XXEMC3 its not working. any one else facing the same issue??

I tried many many a time to push the apps to system/apps also giving r/w rights to root explorer and then restarted. Widget is not in my widgets tab. Now I lost the Accuweather widget completely. I am rooted btw.

There are some extra settings but camera force closes if I try to access it

U R right even i m getting a FC....I guess its due to some missing files

I just found someone one has upload the files who have Extra settings work.I tried it but settings still force closes but I noticed that picture and video quality has improved and there is exposure settings too(can't change it though )here is the thread link - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2720248

I just found this fix to this Fc .go to this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2729734. Flashable zip didn't work for me.had to manually copy the file to system/etc and had to reboot to get it working
edit- i have seen that after copying this file extra settings work but video recording using front camera dosent work (no force closes though).i dont use it so its not a big problem for me

It says you already have the file do you want to overwrite. So should I overwrite it. And I didn't get the permission 644 is it rw-r-r or something else.

Yes u have to overwrite it.and make sure to change permission to rw-r-r before rebooting

Thanks for the fix. It is working on CM11. One issue is no option to save pics to ext-SD card like the stock camera app.

Install Root Explorer App and go to the file using that and just touch and hold the file till a pop up menu comes...There select permission and tick all bubbles in READ column and in WRITE column tick 1st bubble.. except this if any other bubbles r ticked just untick it.. This will change the permission to rw-r-r..

Try any file explorer I personally use root explorer .just long press media_profiles.xml and a menu will pop out like this
click on permissions and set it exactly the same as in the following image

How can i use Lens Blur and Photosphere, Panorama mode??? My device have gyroscope and both cameras (rear and front), autofocus, flash and etc., but there are just only 2 modes: Camera and Video (ps: front videorecording is not working)
