Hi folks,
I have installed VMware on the Fire TV for work. Everything works fine except the mouse cursor is surrounded by an orange circle.
If there anything to remove the orange circle?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
I also want to switch to the real mouse cursor instead of the feature-lacking circle.
Flash games don't react properly with the orange circel, and even cause doubled clicks which reverts the tickboxes in Happy Wheels.
There is supposed to be an Android setting that changes the mouse type, but the settings apk either exits when attempting to reach it,or the option is missing in the 4.0 settings.
Can somebody please find a 4.2.2 version of settings apk?
BTW,how well and smooth does VMware run?
I installed VMware 3.0.0 version, which works smoothly in my case (1920*1080, windows 7, fire TV connected via Ethernet).

if you downgrade to the first firmware the mouse was an arrow. you will then have to block updates.
Where can i get vmware? and how can install windows via vmware??
Where can i get vmware? and how can install windows via vmware??
I would love it to use windows!
Somebody please find a fix for this.
I even tried an actual mouse but still get doubled clicking on a single click!
There has to be a setting that can be modified that brings back the much better mouse pointer.
I am currently writhing in rage because of this issue because I can't properly run Flash games with this annoying circle.
I need the mouse pointer so I can tell where I am actually clicking because the circle is not accurate at all for the approximate clicking position.
It is located in the root folder of.. root/ system/ framework/ framework-res.apk I have changed other android device mouse icons before doing ROMs. The orange circle icon is in the framework system folder. The file is an apk... framework-res.apk It is buried in a folder called framework/ res/ drawable-hdpi/ btn_circle_disable_focused.png
With root **** warning could brick device**** I'm not responsible if you f-up...
BACKUP your original framework-res.apk !!!! Proceed at your own risk.
You could try to create your own mouse icon and then call it... btn_circle_disable_focused.png in replace of the original png. Then repack the framework-res.apk and copy it back over into the correct location root/ system/ framework/ framework-res.apk I would warn you doing this could f** up the framework system and might brick your device. This system file might be signed, so repacking the apk might need to be resigned. Btw their are other folders in the framework-res.apk that also have the same file icon btn_circle_disable_focused.png So who is willing to try? Might work might or might not but its a risk either way. With a locked boot loader I'm not testing my unit.
Here is the file I found btn_circle_disable_focused.png... look fimiliar, orange circle mouse pointer thing.. yuck.
And here is a real mouse png I file found in the same folder.
YES! Now we are one step closer to a real mouse!
We just need somebody to make everything stable and easier to replace, and to make it actually function like a normal mouse.

I've just flashed the O2 premium v2.0 rom to my artemis, and I love it, but I really dont like the animated splash screen.
I tried using the latest version of SplashScreen.exe to customise it, but at the three colour boot screen, the utility fails saying it cant connect to the device. This must be specific to SplashScreen.exe as other utilities flash the phone fine.
So, without that tool, how can I customise the animated start screen, as the \windows folder doesnt allow me to make changes to the files there. Alternatively, if someone can post a utility to flash to a different HTC animated logo that would be great. I'm sure in the past I've seen a very small HTC animated logo on a black background - if anyone has that ready to go with an installer, I'd be appreciative!
Thanks.

just replace the animated.gif in windows folder on your device...
jvc
I tried doing that, but I cant delete the original file - any ideas?
Thanks.
Startup Sound
just overwrite the existing one with your one and you're done.
BTW:
Anyone knows how to get the startup sound working with our Artemis ?
On my Hermes it's working perfect. When i set exactly the same values in HKLM\Software\HTC\StartupAnimation
- volumn and wavFile - as my Hermes and point to my soundfile (it's a wav my windows folder) - nothing happens.
As above, I cant delete the file in the windows folder, so I cant overwrite it either.
Anyway, to work around it, I just copied a .gif file into the windows folder (called it animated2.gif) and edited the registry setting to point to that file, and it fixed it. Bit of a clunky way to do it, but it works!

With the normal Microsoft tools it is not possible to overwrite the ROM files. But e.g. Total Commander can overwrite those files.
jvc.
I just purchased the US AT&T Samsung i907 (US i780).
The keyboard sucks. Press and Hold = repeat; not ALT CHAR. Also the keyboard can only accept 1 key input at a time.
With No physical Dpad, the keyboard needs to be fully working.
The keyboard is the same as the i617, but they use different drivers.
i617 = \windows\keypad.dll
i907 = \windows\zylonite_keypad_Us.dll
I've tried grabbing this file off of my friends i617, but copying the file would produce an error or a 0kb file. Using a USB Cable and Activesync wouldn't even show it when browsing files.
I have all the required registry keys that I need... but I'm looking for this "keypad.dll" from a Blackjack II. I've downloaded a few ROM dumps from WM6 and WM6.1 but all I get are RAW files, which I'm assuming are from a Kitchen.
Without getting too involved in Blackjack II Rom and Kitchen setup, does anyone have access to this file they can upload or have a method for me to extract this file myself?
some remote registry editors show the "real contents" of the phone... you may be able dump that way
just out of curiosity sake.... what kind of a drive do windows pick up the mobile device..... you might be able to right a batch file or use ms dos commands (copy function) to dump things...... i dunno, food for thought.....
edit: you can also try mtty or putty
anyone with any other more definitive answers? I'll be the first to admit I have no idea what I'm doing.
I have the RAW ROM Dump files, but I'm assuming you have to be some sort of magical wizard to open them or have a Kitchen.
Any wizards out there have a kitchen they can shoot me a link to an uploaded blackjack 2 keypad.dll?
Bump
Hey, I'm sorry to inform that i cannot help you with this, but if you made any progress, I'd very much like to know how you did it. I need a new driver for the same reasons as you. Looking for a BJ2 keypad driver and with that a scandinavian layout config.
I'm also very interested!!
@player911
Please!! Dont give up! I would like to help. but i have no idea how.
I hope you made a little progress in that problem.
Good luck and keep up you good work in improving the i907/US i780.
I'll upload if I can off of my BJII. I am thinking of getting the Epix, so this will help me a lot.
Will update soon.
I have the same problem in I600
The relationship is still in OEMMITS.
It has a great relationship.
How would I go about to extract this .dll?
Write to the exact.
and from which the device, you toss it
How to update keypad.dll
My actually driver don't work
Relase topic........
Rename the file? If it doesn't work, just rename it to something else then the original driver will appear. Can you upload it so I can test?

Yup.. here You go.
Thanks a bunch! Now to test on my machine ! Backing up right now, and I am about to replace the file when its done. I renamed the keypad.dll to zylonite_keypad_Us.dll, just to see what will happen with out any mods to the file.
EDIT:Ok, here's what happened.
The mouse movement works, but any button presses, keyboard presses do not work. Nothing works except the optical mouse, but it has no click function. Some one has to edit the file to be compatible with the i907/i780. The backlight didn't work either. I got it back to normal, I just deleted the file then soft reseted and the keypad was working again.
EDIT 2:
I opened the DLL in word pad, and there is a lot of things linked to the middle scroll wheel and the 4 way navigation it has. Some one might have to copy some things for the top functions, like the left and right soft keys, the call and end button, the ok and start menu button, and the click of the optical mouse. The remove the functions of the Blackjack 2 like the home button and such.
EDIT 3: Can someone provide the zylonite_keypad_Us.dll for me?
I have the same problem on my i600
Hi Guys & Gals,
Quick question.....
Has anybody come across a Wake On Lan app for WM6. I have a small home network that I start up from a central PC using Wake On LAN function in the system BIOS. I would like to be able to start my PC's from the Blackstone over my WLAN.
Everything within the LAN & WLAN is running reserved DHCP from the router side so all IP's are constant including the Blackstone.
Cheers for any replies.........
Gilgamesh.......
I don't know if any solution exists but I've read a tutorial (in french sorry) on how to make a wake on line application for wm
http://blogs.msdn.com/pierreca/archive/2009/03/19/wake-on-lan-depuis-votre-t-l-phone.aspx
Hope that could help you
Try this..
jpl69 cheers.........The app works like a charm but is a little basic. Needs the full MAC to be entered manually each time.
What would be really nice is some way of associating the MAC to a short meaningful name that could then be listed so it could just be selected from a list rather than enter the full MAC each time. In this way multiple PC's coud be listed.
While we're at it would also be nice to have a standby button as well so PC's within the LAN could be started and shut down form the app.
I've never written an app before and would either like a few pointers to see if I could do it or see if anyone out there would consider building on the app already posted.
Any suggestion welcome.......
Besides developing an app to that (no time) i could sugest make several shortcuts using resco and parsing the mac as parameter. At least you only had to make it once.
Thanks jpl69 for your continued replies...much appreciated.
I have seen Resco but not realy sure which component to download to edit the exe. I have used PEG (parsing) in other apps at work but just need something to get me started on WM6. I could the replicate the exe per MAC and create a single file or each PC
Might be worth looking at vxUtil: http://www.cambridgevx.com.
This has Wake-On-LAN (among other things), and I think it remembers previously entered values. You can't give things memorable names but it might help.

i think he means, like, create new shortcut with parameters. Just for example the same as on pc creating a shortcut to c:\quake\quake.exe and use the string "c:\quake\quake.exe" +bind mouse1 shoot +set mode opengl blablabla
Again thanks for the continued replies.....
Downloaded vxUtil and had a play and it does have a working WOL option but again it's messy and not really the simple solution I was looking for. It does have some other features (ping/sweep, tracert & DNS lookup) but I don't really have a use for these.
Still really after a single icon to start each PC as per the shortcut suggestion above.
All suggestions still welcome and appreciated.
I will just try to clarify what was the idea of jpl69.
Please read the README file included in the attached archive (posted by jpl69).
It says:
"Command Line:
===============
Please use as following:
WakeOnLan.exe [MACAddress]
MacAddress can be either 01E4523AEE22 or 01:E4:52:3A:EE:22 "
Now with Resco Explorer (or with Total Commander, which is freeware) one can make several different shortcuts to WakeOnLan.exe, each ending with the specific MAC.
In Total Commander, after creating the shortcut, one must select it, choose "properties", then "shortcut" tab, then manually add the MAC at the end of the "target" line.
Copy the ready shortcut several times, name the new copies whatever you want and place those shortcuts in a folder. Dont forget to change the MAC for each machine.
Hope it helps.
Now I get it......Sorry for the slow uptake but been a busy boy and head has been fried by other things. Will have a play tomorrow and post back results.
Many thanks..........

Any other program with capability to send WOL packets to a particular IP address (and not just broadcast over LAN)?
Although this thread is about one year old, before I developed my WoL everywhere program, I searched for programs like mine here and came to this thread... None of the programs I've found fit my requirements, so I made a program myself...
So I hope your search is over and you've found what you need with my little WoL everywhere... you can download it here:

Create a shortcut to WakeOnLan with a MAC address
Hi,
I'm pasting to this old thread since I found the WakeOnLan tool here and want to share my tips with others.
If you want to create a shortcut so that you have a separate executable (say in your Start Menu) then follow these steps:
Install WakeOnLan from the above link. I put it in "\Program Files\WakeOnLan\WakeOnLan.exe"
Browse to this location with explorer on your PPC. Select the WakeOnLan executable and click "copy"
Browse to where you want the shortcut to appear:
"\Windows\Start Menu" will show in your start menu
"\Windows\Startup" will be run when you reset or power cycle the device
"\Windows\Programs" will apear in your Start Menu > Programs folder
"\Windows\Settings" will appear in your system settings
Select on some empty space (not an existing file) in your chosen folder and choose "Paste shortcut"
Use a text editor on Windows / Linux to edit this new file, or one on your device (I didn't have any that would open on my device so I copied it to Linux, edited in emacs, then copied it back)
Edit the line that looks like:
Code:
40#"\Program Files\WakeOnLan\WakeOnLan.exe"
essentially this is a character count, a "#", the location the shortcut points to, and arguments. Add your MAC address like this and take note of the quotes:
Code:
58#"\Program Files\WakeOnLan\WakeOnLan.exe" AA:BB:CC:DD:EE:FF
count the characters of the shortcut, mac address, and space, then add one. This is your new number (in my case, 58).
An easy way to do this is to use "wc" on Linux:
Code:
echo "\Program Files\WakeOnLan\WakeOnLan.exe AA:BB:CC:DD:EE:FF" | wc -c
57
(remember to add 1!)
Now you can repeat the process and paste as many different WoL shortcuts as you like! I've made just one and called it "WoL MythTv" to wake up my media centre at home. Neat
I'll post my sources in the next post since new users aren't allowed to post links...
This is a tweaked versions of the official UK 1.2.1 firmware (works with all devices, not just UK ones. Go to Settings > *Development > Locale Picker: to change local to United States).
Changes Made to nook_1_2_update.zip:
Busybox and init.d support.
Forced all rendering to be done on the GPU.
Chainfire3D drivers added.
Kick Ass Kernelizer
fixalign -ZipAlign & Fix Permissions on boot.
vac - Runs SQLite VACUUM & REINDEX to optimize databases
improved rendering of images and text.
OptiPNGed and Zipped all system apks.
Plus many improvements taken from this thread and many others.
To install:
Write CWM to a 2GB SD: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1360994
Download the modified nook_1_2_update.zip - 126 MB firmware and place it onto the SD you just wrote CWM to.
Place SD into NST and boot device.
Wipe all user data/factory reset and install nook_1_2_update.zip
Take out SD and boot device.
Setup Wifi and log into your B&N account.
Format SD and place what you ]want to enable onto it:
ReLaunch+Apps - This will replace the Home with ReLaunch and includes Cleanmaster, Calculator, Clearscreen, Email, ScreenRotator & Opera Mini.
EpubBrowser+Apps - This will replace the Home with EpubBrowser and includes Cleanmaster, Calculator, Clearscreen, Email, ES File Explorer, ScreenRotator & Opera Mini.
USB-Audio+FastMode+Host - This will enable USB Sound and USB Host + FastMode. Also enables ROOT/SU
SuperUser - Enables ROOT/SU.
Click to collapse
Place SD into the NST and reboot the device
While booting push and hold the lower left and the lower right buttons until you see CWM
Now Install what Home you want to use. EpubBrowser or ReLaunch and any other modules.
Thats it!
Once everything is installed leave it for about 5 minutes to let the device optimize all the apps and get everything setup (it will probably reboot).
Bugs:
The B&N Welcome screen will flicker. Tap the power button to get rid of it.
Tip: To bring up the list of apps installed in EpubBrowser, swipe a clockwise circle starting at 10 O'clock.
Once everything has settled down open the NookColor Tools app and un-tick then tick Non-Market apps so you can side load apps.
To be able to download apks from the Play Store and side load them onto the Nook, use this site: http://apps.evozi.com/apk-downloader/
Remember the Nook is running Android 2.1 Éclair (API level 7), so any apps needing a newer version of Android won't load.
You can also grab this package of apps I put together that work with the NST:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nook-touch/themes-apps/share-setup-t3143404
Here is a video of my personal setup:
What I enabled:
nook_1_2_update.zip - This is just an optimized version of the default UK ROM with init.d+Busybox.
EpubBrowser+Apps.zip - This will replace the Home with EpubBrowser and includes Cleanmaster, Calculator, Clearscreen, Email, ES File, ScreenRotator & Opera.
USB-Audio+FastMode+Host.zip - Also enables ROOT/SU - Install this after logging into your B&N account. If you install it before you won't be able to register with B&N.
If you have under 50% battery life the USB sound dongle will cut out. So make sure you have plenty of battery life.
Thanks to :
latuk for the Kernel.
NFHimself for the EpubBrowser home screen.
antsm for Extended power menu
ИΘΘK¡€ for AndroNook Settings
Awesome to see a new ROM. Double awesome to see that it adds color to our devices

Thank you for this perfected ROM, will try it at some point later.
A question if I may: While booting push and hold the lower left and the lower right buttons until you see CWM - this means that you have to write the CWM image to SD card again, after formatting it? And then copy those two Nooter-zip files onto SD card with CWM image? Sorry if my questions looks silly here.
All download links are now up and working.

Have installed the ROM and nooter files, but my home screen continuously refreshes. Any idea why?
Also tried the separate replacement home file on top of the rooted ROM and it still keeps refreshing.
No books are shown in the 6 rectangular boxes.

I had the same issue with the Home. What I did to fix it was to find out what book was having issues generating a thumbnail images and changed the cover to a different one using Calibre.
You could also manually add the thumbnail images yourself. You do this by coping the image from Calibre library and renaming it the same as the title of the book.
If you just can't get it to work then replace the Home with this: Home.zip - 553.42 KB
You just flash it within CWM.

I have the light install without Nooter-part. If I install and start fastmode2 it don't do anything on my NST. Maybey the kernel is not the same or not rooted with the light version of this rom.

If you did not:
go to folder where you saved app, ---> huawei_watch_face_maker-win32-ia32_v066b\packager, delete Output folder and com.huawei.watchface file.

when I transfer the watchface to the watch you only see the hands the image of the dial is black, I have procured in various ways and with various images but nothing to do, what am I wrong?
thank you
Hi
Great watchface maker. Previously used a similar one to create faces for Amazfit Bip so, after a wee refresher, I was able to create a nice face. Unfortunately, now that I've finished it, I can't get the damn thing to export to .hwt file, it's stuck on "wrapping up". I've been over it again and again and don't see any problems. Any ideas?
I've made sure not to have any "white spaces" or symbols in my program folder or target folder. I've even put both folders on root of C: drive and tried compatibilty mode and run in admin. I've even tried stripping out every widget except the background but I can't get it to compile the final file. Rage.

update: Tried it out on my old mother's ancient win7 laptop and it worked first time! weird, cos my pc is a beast.
Now, the only problem I've got is a rotating arm (for a battery guage) that refuses to budge from the centre of the face. Is there a limit on rotation widgets? I've got a steps target guage and hour-and-minutes hands on a small analogue clock. Tried removing the widget and building it from scratch - still get the same result.
