[Q] UHID support on 4.4.x roms - Galaxy Ace II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there currently any 4.4.x rom for SG Ace 2, that supports UHID (bluetooth keyboards/gamepads), or maybe a workaround that allows to use such devices?
I am in a desperate need for one.

None...i think.

Thanks for the reply.
Do you know any custom rom that is capable of such thing?

@up, try mine kernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-ace/ace-2-develop/custom-kernel-t2793420
or zwliew's
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2724947
If I remember correctly, some builds of this kernel supports UHID too.

[Q] How do I check if a Kernal is compatible with the ROM im using?

Hi, I have been searching the forum but there isnt a definite answer. So far I gather that not every kernal is compatible with every ROM.
I am running PACMAN V22.11 [link]
And want to try Franco.Kernel [link]
Franco's thread only mentions Android OS version. And nothing regarding roms (searhced that thread for pacman as well)
Is it compatible with PACMAN? Can I go ahead and flash my first kernal? (excited :fingers-crossed: )
Bonus | Whilst we are at it, I wouldnt mind anyone side mentioning proven kernals for battery improvement. Or best performance/battery kernals they have used
-Galaxy Nexus Gsm (maguro)
Bump
Guys, is franco kernal compatible with all roms based on android 4.2.2 for galaxy nexus?
Thats it. Please?

That's because usually only OS version, not ROM, matters for kernel compatibility.

If it says it's 4.2.2 compatible, yes.

Complaints with Galaxy Nexus 4.3 Update

el_charlie said:
I don't have that phone anymore, but I need to clarify some things:
- Bluetooth LE could be possible. The hardware is 4.0 but Google recertified as 3.0. One posible reason is that it needs a 3.4 kernel but it's not stable for the GNex.
- OpenGL ES 3.0 is hardware dependant. The PowerVR GPU on the GNex is a bit old.
- The 3.0.72 is not that old. In fact is one of the latest of the 3.0.X branch (if I'm not mistaken, the last one for that branch is 3.0.84). Like I said before, a 3.4 kernel is not stable on the phone. Maybe some dev can port it successfully and then enable Bluetooth LE, who knows.
So, there's nothing to complain. In fact, from what I heard, this update gives performance near 4.1.2 with all the features it always had plus the new ones.
This thread it's almost pointless and must be closed or repurpose it to the bugs found on 4.3 and things that are present that you don't like.
Cheers!

Latest is 3.0.86
It's possible to port BLE to 3.0.x but it isn't easy.. :/
Any idea if TRIM is build in on this version or we still have to root and use other programs?
Thks

Actually, 3.0.87 is the latest.
Have complaints? Present them to Google or in this thread, since it's about the same issue... and it was created yesterday.

[Q] KitKat Kernel for PAC ROM 4.4

Hi, today I updated PAC ROM 4.3 from faust93 but then after error 7 on update process I realized it was upgraded to 4.4 then I installed TWRP 2.6 and it worked nice altough its alfa and lost functions.
The mainly problem is that the old kernel from faust93 doesnt work (original kernel has terrible governors expending a lot of battery) and I can see that on http://xep.8800.org/e957/ there is a lot of different versions from his kernel, does someone know if one of them is compatible with PAC ROM 4.4 ?
I would send it on the Pac Rom thread but xda restrictions don't let me do it and developer did not warn about upgrade to 4.4 so I dont know if he would answer
Thanks

check android development, the faust 93 kernel.
For Officials ROM use F93 kernel gproj 2.2
For Unofficials ROM use F93 kernel AOSP 0.5

Need help choosing a rom and kernel

Hi guys,
I have a rooted gpad with stock 4.4.2 and custom twrp recovery with root.
I am looking for a stable rom that still has qpair functionality as i use it with my g2 when driving.
I also want a kernel that is overclockable and still frequently updated (some kernels are now discontinued).
I have searched a lot but still confused as to what to flash. Any help would be appreciated[emoji5]

Hi. Use this method so you can install Qpair on AOSP based ROMs (Not entirely sure if this actually works on the v500). - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2571429
If you go with a stock based ROM I would go with LRS G PAD.
Only AIC Kernel is slightly overclocked from 1.72 to 1.78Ghz.
If you are looking for speed and smoothness in my opinion I believe the best combination to be SlimKat and mani Kernel.

Thanks for the quick response bro. So if i use slimkat and mani will qpair work as well as stock or does it have any issues?

I have not actually used it myself, I do not use Qpair, I have just read about the fix. If that doesn't work another option is to do what this guy did here on post 97. - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=48452252&highlight=qpair#post48452252

latest kernel version?

I all.
I'm looking for a kernel for my galaxy nexus and i've noticed that most (all?) the latest kernel threads (I'm looking for a currently mantained kernels) are stuck at version 3.0.101 while linux kernel is arrived, today, at 3.19.1.
Now I know that the "android branch" is different than the main one but however I guess there should be newer versions around, like 3.4 or, even better, 3.10.
So, why it's so hard to find a newer version?
Any 3.4/3.10 kernel suggestion?
Thanks a lot.

Sorry emotions was first [emoji14]
Yes 3.0.101 is latest for Gnex, bsmitty will focus his works on 3.4 when he will get Nexus6 (or he got it already, idk)
Its hard to develop 3.4 for Gnex because of missed drivers from Texas Instruments
