[Guide] Get Camera Access on Stock 4.4 Secured Lock Screen - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II

Hi,
Not sure if this is will be of any use to anyone, but just putting it out there.
I personally want to use my pattern password lock, but be able to to quick access camera. Since upgrading to 4.4 I haven't found any apps or mods that let me doit on root stock till now.
You'll need to be rooted first.
Install Xposed (you are on rooted stock, you do have this installed right? riiight?)
Combining these two mods got the camera access working.

Enable camera on lockscreen

Enable them and reboot. Neither have a UI or any settings to control.
And everything should be working

[Q] Few questions from a newbie!

Hello everybody!
It's my first time modding an Android device, so I decided to flash a Google Stock-like ROM on my LG G3 (D855). At first I rooted and installed TWRP using this useful tool: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/development/tools-srk-tool-1-0-1-useful-toos-lg-t3079682
Then I flashed CyanogenMod 12.1 Nightly (which seems to be the best and most supported ROM...) and GApps. Everything seems to work fine but I have a bunch of questions to better understand how to improve usability and performance.
1) What are exactly GApps, and why do I find one million versions of these? Is it a procedure to, eventually, re-install them without wiping everything?
2) After flashing I'm not able to use apps like QuickBoot to reboot in Recovery Mode "comfortably". When I tap that choice nothing really happens. Does anybody know why?!
3) I've installed Nova Launcher and combined it with CM Locker, because of the interesting possibility to auto-light on the display on notifies. Anyway, I'm no more able to double tap to sleep on my lockscreen, except if I double tap on the state-bar. Is there any solution to modify this behaviour?
4) What is Xposed? How is it related with ROM, CyanogenMod, LG G3?
5) I use bluetooth to connect to my Alpine stereo in my car. Since I installed CM12.1 I need to pair the devices EVERYTIME! Why they do not recognize forever just after the first pairing?
6) After installing CM 12.1 i noticed more battery leaking and device heating, so I supposed I could install a different kernel. Is this consideration right? I've installed 777 but don't know how to measure the improvements, could someone give me some metrics to have an idea?
7) what are the schedulers and how should i configure them??
Thanks in advance to everyone who'll answer to even one of my questions!
Hi
Welcome, i 'll answer as best I can.
1. Gapps are the Google apps I.e . Play Store, Google, Gmail etc. Although you can run CM without them but you would miss out on many options.
2. Go into settings and tap about and tap Build Number 7 times and you will get Developer options. In this you will find the option advanced boot and tapping this will allow you to select from a menu when you press the button to sw off the phone, which has recovery.
3&4 Cannot comment on Nova or Xposed as I don't use them.
5. Only use Bluetooth to cennwct to my LG G-pad 8.3 and my Sony Smartwatch 2 and it works fine with them.
Hope this is of some help.

4. Xposed is a framework for modules that can change the behavior of the system and apps without touching any APKs. That's great because it means that modules can work for different versions and even ROMs without any changes (as long as the original code was not changed too much). It's also easy to undo. As all changes are done in the memory, you just need to deactivate the module and reboot to get your original system back. There are many other advantages, but here is just one more: Multiple modules can do changes to the same part of the system or app. With modified APKs, you to decide for one. No way to combine them, unless the author builds multiple APKs with different combinations.
Note that this only works with root access on Android 4.0.3 or later.
Hope this would be helpful.

Disable first Lockscreen and wake up direct to pattern screen

Since update to Lollipop we need to perform two actions (if you use any security lock) to get to your homescreen:
1. swype up
2. enter pattern or pin
In KitKat there was an option to bypass the first screen and wake up the phone direct to the pattern/pin screen.
With Lollipop this option is gone.
Does anyone found an option, a patch or exposed module to bypass the first (notification) screen or can give me a hint how to do so?
I am s-off, rooted and have exposed working with sense toolbox.
Thanks for any hint / advice.
Regards,
Umqi
Gravitybox (xposed module) can do this. It's under lockscreen tweaks, then Direct unlock.

Thanks,
but Gravitybox ist only for AOSP and GPE ROMs, I forgot to say that I am on ARHD 45 which is a close to stock Sense ROM so I'm afraid to try
Reboot in TWRP, make a backup, try it, if it bootloops or breaks bad, restore the backup. I just moved to the GPE MM rom and installed Gravitybox and made all the tweaks that bl*ssr*m gave me. You might be surprised!

Did my NAND, installed, aktivated module, rebooted and tried.
The tweaks I would need in GravityTB are not working. I can change the color of the Blutooth Icon, so I can say installation is ok.
Problem not solved jet....

Power Menu Reboot options for stock rom?

I have minimal root and/or custom rom needs. I mostly just want to disable tethering checks, use adaway and have the reboot options in the power menu enabled.
I use the new chain fire systemless root, and I know how to add text to the build.prop file to disable tethering. Is there any way to enable reboot options to the power menu without installing an app or custom rom?
I am aware of Xposed modules, but gravity box power menu options don't seem to work like they used to.
I really like the way it is provided in Chroma, but I have found my battery life is far better on stock than custom rom. (though I'm probably doing something wrong)
thanks for the advice!

What troubles are you having with Gravity Box? The extra reboot options are working fine for me.
I'm not sure, they just aren't working for me. Everything else in GB does, but the power menu items just don't appear. I can only get the stock power off option.

Double tap to wake

Hi guys,
It is already couple of months since they removed the double tap function. Is there any way to get it back without rooting? I do not get it why its missing.

So that people will stop asking about DTTW in Xiaomeme forums (mi.com community), Xiaomeme somehow incompetently disabled it for all panels (goodix-ts used to have it, while fts don't). There are three options of getting it back:
1. Wait (but chances of enabling it again by Xiaomeme are slim)
2. Rollback to earlier version
3. Root using Magisk with its module or install custom ROM
You can roll back to V10.0.10.0.PDLMIXM which is the latest OTA with DT2W.
I tried to use a few alternative apps (which suck) and edit system file (not working at all) before rolling back since it will take a lot of time.
Of course, I know this is not the best solution, stuck at old version will make your phone vulnerable to exploit.
Maybe you also can flash a good custom ROM with DT2W enabled.
