As the title says, i need a fix to fix my broken stock recovery. Running stock rom UBNG3. I found a link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1932327 but its a fix for Galaxy Note. Don't know whether this could be flashed on my phone. Although I think that if the above fix is flashable it could solve the gallery app bug but don't know for sure.
Let me explain the whole story. Back in the days when 4.2.2 rom was leaked i flashed it and then flashed the official 4.2.2 rom but since then my recovery is broken. I did not care about it until now when i wanted to root my phone. Flashed cwm recovery a number of times but kept booting into stock. An option in the rooting guide suggested to re flash the whole rom but setting up the phone again is not an option for me. Its just a big pain. What i want is a fix to fix the broken recovery so that when i flash cwm, it actually shows up.
Thanx for any help anyone could provide.

I flashed from Juggernaut 3.65 to CM7. I noticed in the Android Market my device showed up as an HTC under the 'Maker' field. I thought I would flash back to the Stock ROM I have and completely unroot/restore to factory settings. I flashed it to the rom using ROM manager and now it won't boot. I can get to the Android recovery, so CWM is gone and I can still try to flash through ODIN but that doesn't seem to work either. Any thoughts?
I also tried reflashing from the UnRoot ROM using Android Recovery and it fails every time.
Thanks
Flash the stock rom rooted with cwr and the super user apk with Odin. Check the dev section.
Sent from my phone.

I was able to flash the CWM recovery file through ODIN. I was then able to use CWM to restore back to the Juggernaut 3.65 but wouldn't let me flash back to stock, not that I'm complaining. It seems to be fully functional again. Thanks!
I'm totally boggled here, I've never had problems like this. I've rooted my T-999, no problems there, but when I install CWM, either the non-touch or touch versions, it doesn't boot into that recovery. When you recovery boot, either manual or through ROM Manager, it just boots to the stock recovery. I've tried re-installing through ROM Manager and through Odin, to no avail. I'm pulling my hair out...help!
Just use the the root 66 method and then use goomanager to install twrp recovery. Did this process for my brothers S III last night over the phone.
I had the same problem before. Tried multiple ways but the cwm recovery will not stick, even though it appears working in Odin. Only way I got cwm recovery to install is by going back to an earlier version os.
You need to find an earlier version of factory stock jelly bean or better yet ics and flash it with Odin. Make sure it's a factory image. After that just root and install cwm recovery with Galaxy s3 toolkit. Then just install whatever rom you like.

Ok, trying out these methods and will report back. Thanks.

Why do all that when you can flash the latest through ODIN; and get the correct partition tables setup, and that has root, and then install the recovery via an app? Seems more logical to me.

I was not aware you can install the recovery through an app. I'm not familiar with the process so maybe you can talk the op through it.
When I had my problem with the cwm recovery not sticking from Odin, it was when the jelly bean update was just release for T-Mobile. Just letting the op know that I had the same problem and how I got it working.

Okay I thought I was missing something. Ya the new update surprised me as well last night with ODIN not working to flash a recovery. It's available in CWM app ROM manager I prefer TWRP though which is available in GooManager via menu>Install OpenRecoveryScript>yes> so long as it says "2.4.1.0" and "D2TMO" then yes and boot recovery to install from there.
I followed mt3g's advice and did the root66 method and then installed via ROM Manager and I had success. Flashing a new ROM now. Thanks!
Cool bro.
Hey guys I was recently trying to flash back to stock so that i could carrier unlock my device, but when I was trying to flash using cwm, I kept getting status 7 error, so I read up on that and learned that cwm doesn't like certain roms.
After reading that, I used twrp, which allowed the rom to flash.
Now's where it gets bad..
the rom was booting fine, until i realized it was stuck at the boot animation for about 10 minutes.
I went back to the thread and asked how long it should take on first boot, they said 4 mintues...
I can't get back into recovery mode.. (actually i could never get into recovery mode using hardware bottons, i had to use apps such as ROM Manager)
I'm trying to use odin to flash recovery img, but no dice..
Can someone please tell me what I should do?
You can't go back to stock through recovery. You have to flash the stock image through Odin.

It was a custom touchwiz rom. I thought that was possible.
Could I flash stock through odin in my current situation?
Fash the latest frimware using Odin
Can you get your phone into Download mode? Power whitle holding volume down, if you can then flash CWMR using odin
Download CWMR touch or non touch from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2405433
Doing this help me skip some odin errors from previous failed attempts to flash stock frimwares (I don't know if you're having the same problem)
If you successfully flash CWMrecovery, you should be able to flash official 4.3 firmware(T-Mobile) and put your phone back to stock.
create an account with sam mobile for faster download this download can take 1-4 hours SamMobile was like 20 minutes for me, this is the link for the latest frimware for
(T-mobile SGH-M919 !!! ONLY !!! ) http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/3/?download=22280
If you can get your phone back to stock this is my advice to you: root your phone right-away so you can reset your flash counter using triangle away.
I suggest the following rooting method is safe, it worked for me and did not affect my flash counter
Safe root --> http://www.w0lfdroid.com/2013/12/Safe-Root-Android-4.3-Galaxy-S3-S4-Note-No-Warranty-Void.html
use triangle away to reset your flash counter to Zero

Did oyu make a nandroid backup of your stock rom before flashing a custom one?
If so, just restore it.
If not, use Odin.

Not only you, many other users like us got the same problem.
When we install CWM using Odin with Auto-Reboot turned on, it says pass and reboots the phone. But when we go to the recovery mode, the Stock recovery is still present there.
Secondly, when we try installing CWM using Odin with Auto-Reboot unchecked, the phone freezes on the downloading screen after downloading it, so we have to remove the battery, put it back inside, and go to the recovery. At that time we can see CWM recovery, but when we reboots system and then later when we have to come back to recovery more, the stock recovery pops up again.
This kind of problems are being faced by many Samsung Galaxy Grand duos GT-19082 users.
It would be really appreciated if someone knows the solution and could help us.
Thanks!
I have a Samsung galaxy note 2 LTE n7105 in a boot loop, i was trying to flash ''http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2761937'' but under the installation a made the mistake of wiping everything on the device including the rom that was saved on the internal phone memory, i also had a 4.4 bootloader and Philz CWM touch recovery..
so when i put the device in download mode it does it fine and odin finds it, but it wont go in recovery, it just shows the bottom touch keys of the recovery then goes into a boot loop again, i would like to flash it to stock again without unrooting it if possible but i need to know whats wrong here?

Recovery must work fine since you didn't messed it up. Try again and try to flash rom from sd card. If not, flashing stock rom using odin is the next best option (will remove root though). Goodluck.
Fixed
