Dn3 for T-mobile Note II Discussion - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note II

Ok, i checked out here and realized some people still dont know that Dn3 v5 or later kitkat rom runs quite smoothly on our device. Basically its an open discussion to people who might need some help with the rom or any other kitkat rom and also to share some lags and possible fixes...
This is the official thread to this amazing rom

In case u flash and u lose your baseband or its showing no network , u can flash the MK7 modem for tmobile ...this a 4shared link : https://www.google.com.gh/url?sa=t&...=npOhTo6IH_BHxkXNWm-OGQ&bvm=bv.71667212,d.bGE

Would be nice if you could post specific instructions for the T-Mobile devices. :fingers-crossed:

agreed, I've been wanting try this rom for a while but I have been getting mixed answers. I step by step instruction would be great.

Just go over to the AT&T forums. I went there a couple months ago and been running DN3 for quite a while. Its really not much different than flashing a Tmo rom. You can edit the build.prop afterwards so it shows the correct phone model as well as have the Tmo LTE icons etc.. Just read up. Its worth it, especially since TMo and Samsung been screwing us around on KitKat

I have a few questions if you don't mind.
1. Which build of dn3 are you using?
2.Did you lose any features flashing the rom?
3. How bad is the increase of ram usage?

I've been using this rom for a while too.
So to answer some questions...
1. Im using DN3 V5 with Update 3 (update 3 is just a few fixes on some things)
2. Depending on what features you want or need then id say Not at all. Only thing for us Tmo users is Wifi Calling.
3. Ram usage is pretty high. If youre going to use AGNi Kernel then set the max cpu to 1700 and min to 300 and the LMK to Medium. In my opinion my phone runs much smoother.

Thank you for the info, I have a few more questions if you don't mind.
1. Did you have to fix any features? such as gps, wifi, network, camera, etc...? (My biggest concern is having to do a lot of trouble shooting)
2. Which recovery did you use to flash the rom?

1. Coming from a clean install (wipe everything! System, Data, Cache, Dalvik-Cache and Internal Sdcard) I ran into minimal issues.
Im also still on the 4.1.2 (MD1) bootloader so I needed to use AGNi Kernel to get Wifi to work. If you're on the MK7 bootloader then you might not need to use AGNi.
Another thing is, after flashing the rom, dont flash anything else until youre booted up and slightly set up and open the camera and be sure it works.
Then you an flash the add ons (kernel, update, super su (if needed) other things.)
I edited my build.prop to show the 4GLTE symbol on my Notification Bar.
2. Im using TWRP (I forgot which version) 2.7.0.1 ... you can flash the AT&T TWRP newest build and it will work.
What you might need to do to get the rom to flash after you wipe is to reboot back into recovery. My first attempt at flashing the rom failed but after I rebooted back into recovery it flashed fine.

Again I appreciate the info. I am currently running the jedi master 16 rom, 4.1.2 (MD1) . It is my understanding that I will have to flash the MD1 modem after installing dn3. Also which AGNi Kernel do I use. I found this link.

My main issue is with the inability to charge offline....And then again we need a 4.4 bootloader to make it work....and that means we will have to wait till TMO releases an official update....Whats really happening at all?

Use this one PSN_AGNi_pureSTOCK-v4.2.4_I605_4.4.2_AROMA-signed.zip

Do not flash that kernel! That is for Verizon phones!
Here isnthe correct links for the thread and download page.
AGNi Kernel Thread - N7105 be sure you flash the one for 4.4.2 Roms because the thread isnt separated for 4.3 or 4.4.2 kernels.
Here is the correct download page that is compatible for the T889 (Tmo Note )

Note 2 demo unit

Hi I have a note 2 demo unit of eBay a few of them are on there. I wanted to ask can we install twrp and a custom rom on it should I install a stock rom on it first or just install recovery and a custom rom. Anyone else out there with a demo note 2 unit what have you put on it and how? have you had any problems etc. Any help would be appreciated thank's.
Punctuation would help a lot with understanding your post. Why don't you just flash a custom or stock ROM?

There have been several threads about these devices before. If it's a proper demo unit, you won't be able to flash it.

But others have successfully flashed it its not a matter of not being able to flash it its which rom and any other problems arises the other threads state they have flashed custom roms onto it so how can you say it won't be able to be flashed?
What I would like help with is how to back up my current recovery and system images so if it goes pots up I can revert back to what I had anyone know how to do that?.

Well big update i flashed uk simfree rom via odin stock rom with the 16gb pit file to reclaim the lost storage as demo only shows 5 gb now showing 10gb avaliable. Well after this stock worked fine but when you wake the device it would crash i think this was a problem with cpu dropping too low that others too have reported. So what i did next download tool kit for note 2 and rooted device and install twrp and busybox after this i downloaded the latest omega rom v11. I flashed the omega rom and now the demo unit works great minus phone but viber works great for making call works fine .well done if any others having problems do what i have listed thank you.
Update i ran a quadrant benchmark it scored 6535 (Not bad for a android)
Update i have installed perseus kernel with omega rom all work very fast my quaderant score is now 7720 now not bad for a android.
Use set cpu and overclock to 1.8ghz with performance profile blistering fast now to find a 1.9ghz kernel.

Please can you explain which ROM and where to find?
Can you redefine your post above with steps? Tnx.
I already flashed Note 2 with clockworkmod and with few roms, but any of them doesn't boot UP.
Thank you for advice.
Try flashing TWRP Recovery first and then just follow the exact instructions in the ROM thread for installing it and you shouldn't have any issues.

I have also one demo unit and many days and night I try to flash any kind of rom, but without success. I do root, have a SU but mean that my device is not fully rooted. I can't flash TWRP or CWM6 recovery. Also I was afraid because chance to brick this kind of device is to big (not possible to find this kind of stock rom). I flash only pit file via odin, and now I have 10gb internal memory. After that I delete all protected file created by Samsung for demo live, and permanently block program for start demo (Retail mode). With Gmate my device work perfect, I use them like second phone and multimedia devices.
I know that is not possible to get sim (gsm), because this device don't have a hardware for that.

[Q] Should I flash stock back after using cyanogen?

Hello all,
I just have a few questions regarding my note 2 sgh-i317 which I've just received from ebay on Thursday. As soon as I got it I rooted and flashed cymod 10.2 because up until this point I didn't want anything stock on my previous galaxies. Before I flashed though, I messed around with s-note and was highly dismayed that I'm not able to mount touchwiz apps. I tried changing apk permissions through es and move to system/app folder to no avail. Then I thought I would settle for Papyrus since thats what my wife has on her rooted/omni rommed note 10.1. I'm not happy with that app or the fact that there is not a 4.4.2 update for the note 2s yet. I'm thinking the only way to get s pen features to work with the good apps it was designed to work with, is to go back to stock.Any input or suggestions would be greatly appreciated as well as the thread link for the stable 4.3 stock rom download as TWRP didn't back it up right before flashing.
Thanks in advance

I was on an aosp and flashed 4.3 alliancerom. Like it a lot. Because of the whole bootloader thing with 4.3 and that I didn't update mine my wifi didnt work as I was told it wouldn't. So I heard somewhere to flash a kernel called devil kernel and it made everything work like a charm not to mention the kernel is awesome. It has a app in the playstore to manage it. It also works on both touch wiz and aosp. The best thing is it also allows for dual boot between aosp and touchwiz. I have a backup that I access from cwm. I go back and forth between CyanogenMod and touchwiz all the time.

I can't get any other kernels too flash until I unlock the bootloader though right? Mine had the OTA and I'm still on the MK6 baseband. I found 2 UCUBMK6 Param tar files which are supposed to work but I'm still seeing and unchanged flash count and knox trip displayed while in download mode. Negatory. Flashing kernel and Alliance will work.
You're stuck on the MK6 bootloader, which is fine. DO NOT try to flash a bootloader !

I currently run X-Note V13 with Civ Kernel. My opinion is that it is the best ROM out there and it is an international ROM. Only thing is that your CSC gets changed which is no big deal other than the fact that some settings and apps think your are from another country.
I fully agree I love that rom! Keep going back GREAT battery life! Fast and stable with A LOT of tweaks. You have to try it, you won't go back. It deletes your internal storage. At least if does on mine but I don't care

You can probably use any international rom as long as you use the wifi bt nfc fix and a tmo kernel.

how did you flash the x-note v13 ROM without the aroma install wiping your internal SD? I've been flashing a tmo kernel and the wifi fix, but the actual ROM install itself ALWAYS wipes my internal SD. And it doesn't boot. Could you please list out your steps?

This ROM always wipes my internal SD card as well, that or it happens when I do the wipe prior to install.
This is the way I have flashed two versions of X-Note once on jb and once on kk. Both worked flawlessly.
1. use twrp 2.7 as recovery (cwm works too, but I am personally like twrp better.)
2. Down load all the files found here to your computer.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=50728165
3. Take your external move the downloaded files to your EXTERNAL SD card.
4. Flash using the instructions listed in link above.
Notes: when you do you full wipe twrp should not remove the files from the external sd card and then you can flash. If it does wipe, remove the card from your phone, plug into computer, move files, place back into phone and then reboot back into recovery. I did find it helpful to make a special folder on the external sd card for the files to be in so I could locate them quickly.
Also on the first boot you have to give the ROM about 5-10 minutes to set up.
Make sure to unchecked the reboot option at the end of the aroma so you can flash the custom kernel and wifi fix.
I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Actually turns out I spoke too soon last night.
I got to the crazy boot animation for xnote 13 but it never finishes booting. I've let it sit for 30 mins without the animation stopping.
For the record I'm also using twrp 2.7.0...and on the official 4.4.2 nb4 boot loader. Is that the one you're on? Or are you still on the 4.3 mi7 boot loader ?

That is what I was on. You can't do 13 unless you have the new boot loader. Did you do a md5 check of your zip and did you do a clean wipe prior to flashing? You can also try to do another clean wipe and reflash all the files. Sometimes you have to flash the kernel twice for it to function correctly. Not sure why but I have seen that mentioned several times in the dev section.

I just got a note 3 from tmobile (N900T). I'm using it in a different carrier here in the US. I wanted to remove the tmobile apps and I stumbled upon this post. So I tried installing xnote v16 with the WIFI/NFC Fix and Civz Kernel 3.4. Everything seems to work well except the WIFI. I can't turn it on. Anyone can help me get my wifi working?

Hi Guys, Newbie here
I just got a note 3 from tmobile (N900T). I'm using it in a different carrier here in the US. I wanted to remove the tmobile apps and I stumbled upon this post. AT&T Note 3 ROMS on Tmobile version?

Hello,
I have an unlocked Tmobile Note 3 (running on AT&T network) and I would like to know if I could install roms from AT&T version on it? If so, do I need to do anything special for it?
I was just about to post the same question. I am still trying to search for a way to get ISIS working and at the same time not tripping Knox. I think this method may be it. I read some folks on the AT&T forum (AT&T Note 3 running on T-Mobile network) got ISIS working by flashing a T-Mobile based ROM.

Your best bet is go ask in at&t forum. They would have better answers. You will lose WiFi calling

Don't care for Wifi calling as I'm on AT&T network anyway.
Yes the AT&T Roms will work fine. You just need to follow these steps.
1. Backup
2. Wipe
3. Install AT&T ROM
4. Install T-MO n900t TW kernel of choice
5. Install n900t NFC/WIFI fix zip (this is necessary for international ROMs to work so I assume you need it for ATT also. I did it and it works fine for me) FOUND HERE

Honestly, KNOXRAID was the best one...but that got shut down due to some drama. Not sure if the download files are still available but that's what I was running. I've heard good things about the BOBCATROM port too, but that was uploaded by the same guy so I dont know if the links are there still. I think you can try any of those safely. You have to be careful on the international ROMs though because if you don't download the right ones for your phone it will wipe your internal memory (PITA).
I also edited my first post to include a link for the NFC / WIFI fix.
Thanks you for the help. I just installed the Tmobile version of the Hyperdrive rom and will give it few days before I try the AT&T ones.

I downloaded FireNote V6x from the AT&T forum and it looks like it has messed up my phone. After doing the wipes when I tried flashing it via recovery it failed and now my phone does not see the internal SD or external. I'm stuck in recovery :crying:

Did you try putting it in download mode and use Odin to flash stock firmware?

Ya, it took me couple of hours to get everything back up but then I installed Wicked ROM and not its back to square on. I'm stuck in boot loop. :crying:. Will probably have to start all over again from stock.

Latest Modem and Kernel from COH4 update

Since I didn't see anyone pull the modem and kernel from the last stagefright update in Sept., thought I'd do it for the few of us that still have this old device.

Was there an OTA for T-Mobile? I'm currently on a AOSP Rom.

Yeah, but you need to be on a stock ROM to get the OTA, or you can download the whole ROM from sammobile.com. It's a security fix for stagefright. I just wanted to try the new modem and see if it made any difference. I won't be able to test the kernel, since I switch back and forth between a 4.4.4 TW ROM and 5.1 CM ROM.
Appreciate the info, have you notice better signal with the new radio?

Maybe a little better signal (?), but basically the same. Haven't been on it real long, I'll have to see if the standby improves after I've been on it a while.

Are you dual booting? Is it possible?
Warning, don't flash this modem. I did and it killed my baseband. I tried flashing 3 other roms which wouldn't even finish booting to my phone before I finally realized it and flashed my original modem back and all was working again.

Working fine on mine. Did you maybe get a bad download? You could maybe try downloading again?
Which modem did you go back to?
Flashed fine and so far no issues. Previous user might have a bad download or different device.
Flashed via TWRP today.. I had no service after reboot but did another restart and it was working.
Don't know if its any better than the previous modem version but will give it a try. thx
Working great here no issues
With old bootloader md1 4.1.2 with ROMofTHRONESv1.0

You caused the problem when you altered the stock ROM. From your thread about it here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-2-tmobile/help/recent-tmo-ota-update-bricked-wifes-t3245890), you said "Had her note 2 with stock 4.3, Rooted it last year to titanium backup and uninstall a couple bloatware apps. " This is what caused your problem. It was no longer a stock ROM when you remove apps. I know it doesn't seem like it would be a big deal, but it is, and you found out unfortunately

That's kinda what I was thinking had happened.
I suppose I shouldn't blame the OTA. I just noticed someone else had issues with it too.
so to the people that actually flashed this new modem and kernel, is it working better than previous iterations?
question:
I flashed the C0H4 modem on note 2 (nameless lollipop rom) seems ok...
DO I have to also flash the Kernel ? is there an advantage to flashing the kernel? thx
Hello! Thanks for this! I flashed this over TWRP 2.8.7.1, and wiping my dalvik cache. My phone's originally T889UVALK8 (16gb SGH-T889 t0ltetmo) and the signal drops but after flashing this (C0H4) the signal greatly improved, although I'm having some signal instability since I'm supposed to have full bars because my house is just in line of sight, 2km from the tower. Also I think I'll do a clean install of another custom ROM since I'm using the CM12.1 t0lte nightly, and maybe this affects my signal (I know I'm stupid for doing it but it works).
Welp. After rebooting, the phone lost signal again. I have to do a wipe of dalvik cache to restore my signal. I guess I'll try using another ROM instead.
Upodate: I may be experiencing hardware issues. I have yet to flash back to stock since my phone's signal drops. I can't flash the firmware because it says 'zip signature verification failed.'

BUT, "yours" seems to be a completely different phone! It says Galaxy Note 4, SM-N910C...
What's up with that?!

It's just the ROM I flashed that makes it say that. That ROM is in my signature... DN4
