The VERIZON G3 does not have the photo table daydream. I found the phototable.apk from my GS3, I copied it to the system/apps folder on the G3 (Yes Rooted, used ES file explorer) like it was on the GS3, but it does not show up still. Any ideas on how to add this daydream?
SOLVED: I just had to change the correct permissions on the file and it has since come up.

Is there an app or a custom rom mod that can silence my camera without having to turn the actual sound down on the phone?
Just delete the audio file or rename it with the extension .bak. You can also do this for the low battery sound. I don't remember the location off hand, but it isn't hard to find if you poke around.
delete or rename /system/media/audio/ui/camera_click.ogg

Root Explorer can, assuming you are rooted.
i used to run an update.zip i made after flashing roms, to remove a load of junk apps, install a couple and also remove this click sound.
I've not made a version for the GNex yet though as i havent bothered with custom roms.
Assuming you are rooted? Try Root Explorer - https://market.android.com/details?id=com.speedsoftware.rootexplorer
Make sure you click the Mount R/W button first or it will not let you edit the file. I would recommend just renaming the file camera_click.ogg.bak - never know when you'll want it back!
With ES file explorer you can also access the system partition. Just have a look to the options (of course you need a rooted phone).
Thanks to this thread, my camera/camcorder shutter is now silent- but i still have the loud focus-confirm noise. I can't find the file for that in the media folders to rename/delete.
Anybody got an idea for that?
Hey guys,
I'm hoping I have placed this question in its correct location(If not please excuse my mistake) but on my one x I'm having troubles with my ES file explorer. It came with the viper 3.7.4 that I'm now on. I have been wanting to change the boot animation zip with this program but I cannot delete or rename anything. I have superuser set. If I long press the file and click on properties I have read and write enabled. I also changed the home directory to /. The only thing I was successful in was cut and paste(I took the original boot/down animations and placed them in the newly created folder on my SD.
I also deleted and re downloaded ES file explorer but that did nothing
Even in my file explorer app I cannot delete files. It's like this phone is not letting me change anything. Is their something I have missed. I can only imagine its something simple that was overlooked but for the life of me I cannot figure it out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
In the app, press menu, then root explorer, then mount r/w

Recently I tried to hide unnecessary images from gallery by putting a .nomedia file in that folder. After that I realise I have put the file in the wrongly in my SD card root folder causes some of my picture won't be displayed in the gallery. And then I deleted the file but it still not showing up in the gallery. Any idea how I could solve this???
*QuickPic and ES File Explorer can open and view the pictures just fine, but the stock Gallery app cannot. I really need the stock Gallery app to work because I need to choose my own lockscreen wallpaper.

If you're rooted you can grab the secphone.apk from your rom zip or from system/priv-app ....copy to pc and open with 7zip (or other archive reader) navigate through the res folder find the folder drawable-sw360dp-xxhdpi and I think the file you'll want to replace is "call settings default image"...the image you replace it with should match the dimensions of the original file and needs the name to match exactly to, just replace file, put the apk back on your phone, move the file into priv-app using Root Explorer (rename the current secphone.apk to secphone.apk.bak) then copy in your modded file, then set the permissions on the file followed by a reboot...done
\There are more direct methods I suppose, but with these steps you can have exactly whatever image you want.
I had the same problem. I just cropped a picture I wanted to use, sent/saved to phone, edited existing contact picture, and replaced the picture with the one I wanted. Now my picture shows, and not the bad one that was synced from where ever. It took a while because I had to do about 50 of them one by one, but it was worth it.
So Android compresses the wallpaper for some reason, to enjoy the full quality do the following:
1. Get a ROOT file explorer (such as MiX, Zarchiver, etc...)
2. Go to [data/system/users/0]
3. You can see a file named "wallpaper" with no extension, that's your wallpaper
4. Cut it somewhere away in your storage
5. Take the image you want to set as wallpaper and rename it to "wallpaper" (without extension) just like the one we took away
6. Now paste it in the same directory [data/system/users/0]
Tips:
-To see change between wallpapers just restart systemUI, if you don't have an option to do that then just normally restart device
-For Lockscreen, you can do the same but with "wallpaper_lock" file located at the same directory "[data/system/users/0]
-An extension is the thing in the filename after the last dot, like if it's "My_Wallpaper.png" then the extension is PNG and you gotta rename it to wallpaper (without the PNG thingy)
-[data/system/users/0] is a directory, a directory is the location of the file, that "data" folder is located in the root of the phone
Note:
I hope this is a noob-friendly guide cuz in that case it will be friendly to me, That's all, feel free to comment if I said something wrong.
Tested on:
Samsung Galaxy A105F running Android 12.1L where the photo format was PNG
