You can do that but then your baseband will be stick to 4.4.2 ver and not optimized for 4.4.4 sometimes will lead to compatibility problem on 3G/4G or wifi connection. Baseband sometimes can even to affect the camera performance though this is rarely to happen.
You can try it first and see if any problem found on radio part. If you want to do a real flash start from the scratch then probably a lots of job you will need to do.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=54297393&postcount=5
You can follow my detailed guide but actually you don't need to follow all steps, you just need to ask flashtool to flash the baseband part.
Thx theendHK,

Hi Everyone,
I do know how to flash a new rom however I had issues flashing from stock 4.1.2 to custom 4.2.2 before (device wouldn't pass the boot screen). So do I have to be on a specific 4.1.2 rom to upgrade or I need to upgrade to a stock 4.2.2 first and then upgrade to a custom one?
Please recommend a fast 4.2.2 custom rom. I would like to keep dual sim feature if possible although I know most roms only support single sim.
My current rom info:
4.1.2
Baseband: I9082XXAMC4
Thanks in advance.

simple one line if want dual sim,(stock based roms only)..u can install stock rom 4.2.2....or balliboxers GENNXT rom based on latest firmware...
NOTE: RAM USAGE OF STOCK AND STOCK BASED ROMS IS HIGH....SO LESSER MULTITASKS HANDLES!
if u can compromise with dual sim ..then u can install slimbean roms...(as u mentioned u want lightest and fastest)... but as they are small and fast, they dont have many extra feature lik halo..bt are lightweight..less ram usage...
bt i wonder why u want 4.2.2 rom when u can installl latest kitkat 4.4.2 (cm11,slimkat rom, carbon rom)..
they all are kitkat roms..........
with cm being a base rom for every rom and a light good rom...so is slimkat...and carbon with good future updates including halo features....
if u still wanna stick to 4.2.2 ....then u got slimbean rom...cm rom....(both dont have halo feature),.bt light...or u cn have PAC,resurrection remix rom(for halo multitasking)...
(gaming is better on kitkat roms)
its all ur choice....
if u want any qsns u can ..
hope i helped ..

First of all, thanks for your awesome reply
Basically I'm on stock rom without useless Samsung apps. Instructions for Pac/resurrection says I need to be on stock rom in order to upgrade to 4.2.2. So am I ok to flash their rom or first install a stock rom?
You mentioned kitkat roms are better and I agree, however based on instructions I need to be on 4.2.2 first before upgrading
Which recovery is the best for making nandroid backups? clockworkmod seems to have issues occasionally creating bad backups.
Kitkat roms seems to have app2sd enabled by default, right? and no issues with Xposed framework modules?

xposed is working fine on dalvik runtime(as google introduced new runtime with 4.4 named ART ,WHICH CONSUMES LESS RAM, BUT IS UNSTABLE)...
when they say that u need to be on stock ROM 4.1.2 , they actually mean the 4.1.2 bootloader..so its okat if u are on GENNXT ROM...stock..abit modified stock 4.1.2...(they specifically mean that if u want 4.2.2 rom, be on 4.1.2 bootloader...and if u want kitkat rom..then be on 4.2.2 rom(any stock based 4.2.2 rom like gennxt or slight modifyd 4.2.2 will do , as all they need is 4.2.2 bootloader for kk roms to work)...if u want kitkat rom.....be on stock based rom..which are touchwiz based roms of 4.2.2)....
so flash 4.2.2 rom by odin..and den install kitkat...if u face any problem ....just pm me ...and ya..
always do wipe cache, dalvikcache and data(if told) , whenever u flash anything(before and after flashing)... u can ask any qsna u wanna ask..hope i helped.

one question from my side as well.
I am on stock rooted 4.1.2 rom and I want to upgrade to stock 4.2.2 rom. what would be the best method?
can I install 4.2.2 latest version by flashing via odin directly or do I need to unroot first?
or it will be automatically unrooted when I install 4.2.2(stock) latest over my 4.1.2(stock) by odin?
I hope you got my question.

I finally got the chance to upgrade to stock 4.2.2 via odin and gaining root again. However I was unable to install kitkat. Even though I wiped cache and did factory reset, boot didn't pass the samsung logo. I still have 2 sim support, is it worthed to install kitkat? According to your previous instructions, I needed to be on 4.2.2 base in order to upgrade to kitkat. What would you suggest in my case
Thanks

I am a heavy gamer and performancive device addict..
Kitkat dont have any fancy samsung stuffs bro..bt its all system files are of kitkat so the gaming performance is alot increased.. All game bugs are almost fix which were in 4.2.2......there is work around for every thing..
I mean..think about it..
I never use smart stay...
I nor did use much of live wallpapers as they were battery consuming..the lock screen was fancy but still lets face truth that its just meant for security/unlocking screen ...u will have to compromise with single sim and non fancy apps ..
But it does worth a try..i mean why not ... Give it a shot and i am sure u will find something unique about it...
It got its own features..so ya...its ur wish..there are also downsides of it .....u can check respective threads and know more..
Hope i helped

Ok bro, I installed selinux cmw recovery... downloaded CM11... I noticed CM is about 200mb comparing to 1 GB stock 4.2.2. Does that mean I will get more free space on internal sdcard? (out of 4GB I mean)...as others suggested, I need to do full wipe/reset factory and manually format system? and if update wasnt successful I can go back to stock via Odin right?

Hey guys,
I'm planning on installing CM10.2 stable on my galaxy s4 mini ( to check if the network-dropout problem i encounter sometimes still occurs)..and because i'd like CM better anyway. But before doing this i got a question about the KNOX- bootloader on my phone..
I already rooted my phone and installed CWM... the KNOX flag is triggerd 0x1.
Can i just install CM from the menu in CWM like in most descriptions ? Or is the KNOX bootloader going to give me troubles?
On another website I read this, and now i'm a little bit confused :
By downgrading from KNOX-enabled to KNOX-disabled firmware, your device will be locked to installation of newer firmwares.
Keep the above statement in mind all the time whenever you decide to flash a stock rom. Be careful not to flash a firmware that doesn't have KNOX.
CM10 probably got no KNOX right ? Am i still able to install this ROM ? And is it possible to go back to stock rom just in case i need to get it back to the shop for maintenance?
Thanks in advance.

Short answer : Yes u can install CM 11 / 10.2 . U will have trouble to install OLDER STOCK firmware ( before Dec 2013 ones ) ( MH2, MJ7, etc will give u problems ) New ones, like ML4 , C1, D2 , etc will be ok.

Is it true that this KNOX problem only happens when installing STOCK firmware ? Or also older custom-roms ?

With cwm you can install any version of CyanogenMod at any time always keep in mind you have to full wipe when upgrade or downgrade

Hello all XDA members especially in our beloved Note 2 community :good:
I've owned my Note 2 since it's first launch.. I'm satisfied and proud to have one of the best phone ever made from Samsung. :good:
I have questions related to downgrading process, just want to confirm the process coz I don't want to brick my Note 2.
My mighty Note 2 is on Omega V.28, 4.4.2 Android Version with MJ5 bootloader and latest TWRP. I want to downgrade to 4.1.2 as I missed the 4.1.2 balance among performance and battery life.
My question are :
1. Can I just flash Omega V.18 (4.1.2) or the others 4.1.2 custom rom (not interested in stock rom ) directly from TWRP ?
2. Won't that procedure brick my phone ?
3. Will I lost my imei and signal ?
4. Can I flash existing modem to fix lost imei (XXUENA) ? Will it compatible with 4.1.2 (Omega V.18) ?
Thanks all for the answer an comments.. :good:
Cheers for Note 2

As long as you are on MJ5 bootloader you can flash 4.1.2 custom ROM via custom recovery. If you lose signal flash any of the modems either from hurricane modem changer or your current one if you have a flashable zip file for that.

If you ask questions please be exact and complete with your first message
If you what to install 4.4.4 custom ROMs you need Jelly Bean (JB) at first!
You are still on Gingerbread (Baseband XXLL2 is GB)
1) Flash JB FW accoring to your Phone (http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=GT-I8160 - I8160XXNB1 or I8160XXNF2)
2) Flash TEMP CWM via Stock Recovery (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2141395)
3) Flash 4.4.4 custom ROM you like via temp CWM
An seperate rooting is not needed because almost any Custom ROM has Root integrated.

Hey guys i still haven't done nothing but i'm here to ask what to do. Here is my problem :
Currently on my phone i have installed :
- Resurrection Remix v 5.1.4 with a DarkRaven Kernel.
The version of android is : 4.4.2 which is KitKat
I want to go back to the old Xperia Ultimate HD 3.0.2 cause i remember it was great in graphic and in performance without battery drain ( a problem that i'm currently facing).
What do i have to do to go back to ICSand install Ultimate HD 3.0.2 since right now i'm using kit kat?
Another but little problem :
-I remember i used a vengeance kernel so if you can help me which one i'll have to use would be great.
Thanks to whoever will help me! Have a nice day!
