[Q] Pen Apps from Note 10.1 2014 Edition

Hi,
I have the Note 10.1 2014 edition in addition to the Note 8.0
The "Pen Apps" feature on the Note 10.1 2014 Ed. is very nice. It allows you to draw a window and open the app in that window (some advanced type of multiwindow)
IS it anyhow possible to integrate this feature on any Note.8 rom ?

Touchwiz is not an open-source project. This features might require newer firmware and/or framework to work and device specifications might be a problem. We need to wait Samsung to release new update.

I don't agree.
I know that touchwiz is not open source. But there are devs who can port multiwindow from some Galaxy devices to other Galaxy devices (which do not have MW by default)

Screen shot or place a pic of what you're talking about and ill try and port it

ah that is neat is just 10.1 feat? Ill give it a shot no promises but we might be able to port over at least that one feature.
Im guessing this is a new feat in 4.4 TW?

These features appeared for the first time in the Note 3, 4.3 firmware. Some developers ported them to the Note 2, but they could do it because the Note 2 received a firmware update to 4.3.
Our Note 8 has only Android 4.2; I'm afraid we have to wait for a firmware update before some developer can port new features to our device.

well, I doubt that Samsung will update Note 8 to Android 4.3
but if they ever do then these features might come with the update.
In any case would it be possible to port it to Note 8 with Android 4.2 ?

I think Samsung will update the Note 8 to Android 4.4.
I'm not a developer, so I can't say if anyone will be able to port anything from other devices.

I just recently went to stock and i am working on it this week
hoping to release a nice little rom for y'all to use that like being on stock modded roms.

Update to 4.4.2? Yes

Already official from Samsung & confirmed on Sammoble. Note 8 will be getting update to 4.4.2.

Use ykkfive's rom. It's a port of the GN3's version of Android 4.3, with features like Pen Window and Air Command intact. I personally recommend downloading the app "Multiwindow Plus" as well, as it allows you to have 4 apps open side by side. The rom only works with the N5110 as of now, but the developer is porting it to the N5100. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2642647

IIRC, there's talk of that in the thread. I don't want to get falsely get your hopes up, so check it out for yourself. It's really an awesome ROM. I flashed it a bit after getting an actual Note 3, which inflicted my Note 8's S-Pen with some raging jealousy... this ROM fixed that

Tested Note 8.0 KK with Gear 2 (Neo)?

Has anyone with KK (android 4.4.2) installed on the Note 8.0 tested how well it works with Samsung's Gear 2 (or Gear 2 Neo)?
Can you connect to Gear Manager?
I am particularly interested whether Gear 2 apps can be seen in (and installed from) the Samsung App store....with Android 4.2.2 I cannot see those apps....

Is there already a KK 4.4.2 Official TOUCHWIZ update available for NOTE 8.0?

I give you hint - AOSP 4.4.2 available roms are not TouchWiz - GEAR compatible.
Official support for GEAR starts with 4.3 on S3,N2 etc....even 4.3 is not available for Note8.

Thanks - no, I am not aware of any, but Samsung has stated they will update the Note 8.0 to KK. So, I need to wait for this offical update....hopefully Samsung will start rolling it out soon (they announced the upgrade back n February, I believe)....until then I will not be able to load any apps to my Gear 2....unless someone finds a way to sideload them...not well done by Samsung...what % of Samsung tablets/phones is on 4.3 or 4.4 (with Touchwiz - Gear 2 compatible)?

Off the top of my head, we have the Galaxy S3, S4, and S5, Note 2, Note 3, Note 10.1 (2014). Pretty much every flagship Galaxy phone made within the last 2 years is running at least 4.3, and most of them have had 4.4 OTA (s5 shipped with it). So in reality, not a bad job by Samsung at all. You have to understand that just about every Galaxy or Tab or Note line runs on different hardware, and needs it's own build of TouchWiz. Naturally, the newest and most popular devices will be first in line for updates, and this is completely understandable. Unfortunately, the Note 8 is a niche device, which was very expensive to buy, and consequently not many people own one or need one. We will get 4.4, but we will probably be the last to get it. Whether it will support Gear remains to be seen.

For which update you are waiting?
Take a look to the dev section, you will find the NoleKat Rom which is a KitKat Port from the SM-T211 .This one is really stable a good for the daily use with agreat battery life.

i am using the nole kat rom that was ported from t211 but i still waiting on that update to come as the rumor says idk

Yes bro. Im using nolekat rom for awhile now. What i was saying was the original kitkat firmware from samsung so developers can make custom roms out of it. Not ported from another device. I think this is a very god rom, the nolekat rom. I have only one problem in nolekat rom, the videoplayer cant find my tv for casting. It was noted by gr8nole already. I hope he finds a fix.

You do realize that P600 is also an exynos device, with a lollipop upgrade no less. If anything it's the Qualcomm that are left behind in note tablets (12.2 and 10.1) (same is true for galaxy alpha btw, Qualcomm version does not even have root)

Compare the problems of locked bootloaders in some qualcomm devices with exynos lack of development is funny.
Exynos is a dying processor.
P600 = p601 plus phone side. Just this? Then why no development?

Any updates on when samsung is launching lollipop on tab s? Or on any developer coming up with a lollipop rom for tab s? I wud love to rjn blisspop on my tab.

Lollipop would come first for the wifi models, then later for LTE ones. Expect it coming in a few months I hope.
