Hi all,
newby to the forum here. I've had my Sony Z1 Compact since February 2014 and the other night after having approx 80% charge it wouldn't turn back on. No light, no vibration, no nothing. I have tried the various hard/soft resets as suggested by both Sony and various help topics on internet. I've noticed that this seems to be an issue with the Xperia phones (Sudden Death) however its not something I expect with a relatively new phone! When I plug the charger in I get a brief "red" LED flash but then nothing. No charge indicator and no vibration. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Have you done the power + vol up combo?

yes. am excited.
omg i have the same problem (sudden death) u still cant find solution ? heeeeeeelp !
My z1 compact died on me multiple times per week. I tried all the basic stuff (return to factory default, start in safe mode, run without SD card) but nothing worked. So I contacted Sony over this. They suggested the following, which solved my problem for the last 2 weeks. And I hope permanently.
Before starting: back up your data; all your data will be wiped! Second: make sure your battery is charged to more than 50%.
1. Download and install PC Companion from SonyMobile website (www sonymobile com).
2. Go to Support Zone and click Start. Make sure the phone is not connected to the computer yet. If you start Support Zone for the first time, the function will be initialised. This can take several minutes.
3. In the Support Zone start the "Update phone / tablet software". In the next window, click "repair phone / tablet".
4. Follow the step-by-step instructions and connect the phone to the computer only when you get the alert to do so.
It worked for me. I hope it works for you!

Do a hard-reset as it may be a piece of software or even just corruption.

and how do i do tht... it doesnot means clear storage is it.. coz if it is then i hav done it more than 100 times
HARD RESET:
0. Make sure the phone is not connected to the PC (via USB cable).
1. Turn the device off.
2. Press down the two soft keys which are the 2 top buttons (with dashes) besides the CALL and DROP buttons.
3. While holding the two soft keys, press the power button.
4. Keep holding the two soft keys until the screen prompts you to hard reset.
5. Release the two soft keys and press the CALL/SEND button.
The device will now reset.

It may vary from rom to rom, but tell the phone to get the time from the operator. Under Ookba´s rom, Go to START - SETTINGS - CLOCK AND ALARM - DATE AND TIME - make sure AUTOMATIC TIME/TIME ZONE is set to ENABLE.
I was having this problem too, and the solution I found is posted here!
Regards.
thanks... post helped me also...

I have used TurboRom when i was watching a video my mobile screen faded out and goes black after that no response. I pressed vol + up key after 3 vibrations i turned on phone again. It was booted up and worked fine but when i try to play video or game again the screen faded out and goes black with no response. I have flashed the stock firmware .55 using flash tool. Still the problem persists. I have flashed the stock firmware nearly 5 times and reseted the phone to factory settings and erased all internal storage. Then again it booted up i was able to work on the mobile for sometime and again it went to black screen. Now when i hardreset and turning on phone everytime. For some time i can manage to work for few minutes but now when i hardreset and turning on phone after xperia logo no home screen just a black screen. I fear it will be a hardware issue. Does anyone faced this issue before, Any solutions? :crying::crying::crying:
I'm afraid it may be hardware problem.
Anyway if you have locked bootloader repair it via Update Service.
Use Emma if you have unlocked bootloader.

You are saying the same for every people which have different problems. If you want help like that better if you stop "helping".
Do you have warranty? If you unlocked your phone you don't have it. You should send email to Sony or go to Sony Xperia Chat Support and explain there your problem.

I am really sad that sony has manufacturing a crap mobile with attractive design. I would have bought samsung or motorola:crying:

Try holding power and volume up button together until you feel 3 vibrations. Failing that, hard reset by pushing the little red button by the side of the SIM card slot under the flap.
Z1 compact refuses software shut down
I never ever managed to turn my Z1 Compact off the by using the default method (hold power button until shutdown menu appears) However I do get a visual on this operation but after poking turn off nothing happens. I also upgraded to official Kitbag but that did not resolve this issue. The only (known) method to shut down is powerbutton on the side combined with volume up/down. I feel that this isn't a clean modus operandi and call for assistance here among others.
Just to let you all know in case of nothing works, there is a physical Hard Reset button to use.

This was a bug that mine suffered from after upgrading to kitkat despite a full wipe. The thing that fixed it for me was to do a Repair using the Sony PC Companion. I wrote about my experience here.
Of course, the long press power button menu is SUPPOSED to work. Any of the above workarounds are just that, I wasn't happy until I fixed it (as well as all the other problems I was having).

Nice catch! It further assures me of us receiving Android Wear 2.0.
Can you send us the OTA file?
I'd be grateful if anyone would send me some instructions or link to them on how to prepare a flashable file and I'll try to do that. I'm still away from home and I don't have much time to search for ones.
Thanks

1. turn on developer options by tapping build number 7 times
2. go to developer options and turn on "bug report in menu"
3. when you check for an upgrade and it's there, or you get a card that says update available, or a card that says update downloaded, go to the wear app on the phone and choose "report wearable bug". It will take a few minutes, and you'll get a notification on the phone it's ready.
4. send it to yourself and then search it for zip. It will be a url that's the OTA link.
please share this link ! thank you

Can someone send dump of stock boot.img ?
There is something wrong with this update. Everytime I go outside the bluetooth range and my smartwatch connects to WI-FI - it somehow unpairs from my phone's bluetooth connection. When i then go back near my phone, it starts to pair it frequently and asks to confirm the PIN several times. The same PIN confirmation popup appears on my phone as well. After confirming it it pairs back and uses bluetooth connection correctly until i go out of the bluetooth range and smartwatch connects to Wi-FI.
It started to happen immediately after smartwatch downloaded the update, but before i have actually clicked to restart the watch to proceed with update, which is actually a bit strange.
Do you also experience such behaviour?
edit:
i have also wiped the watch and put back to factory settings, but the same things happen.
I have similar behave. The range of Bluetooth is somewhat shorted on this update...
I would say the bt range is ok. Nothing changed here after update.
But do you experience such forgetting of bt pair?
Strange... No I dont have that issue. Try to clear cache on recovery
Cleaning cache was performed along with going back to factory settings.

I got that update as well. I didnt notice anything different on the watch over the last few days with that update. BT seems to be fine for me.
I can't say anything more because since few days the problem has just disappeared and now works correctly.
Btw. do you also notice huge bluedroid_timer wakelock when using our smartwatch?

aright guys, just wanted to ask a question as my gf is having a few weird issues with her a5 and i wanted to know if its an issue before i start to flash firmware to it. her phone doesn't accept my dash charger(or my 2.5amp dock) when she tries to use it. when she plugs the phone into her car charger it pops up with this image

is this just a screen saver ? or what a bug ? i believe she's running the latest ota but I've not really not looked to deeply looked into the issue.
I'm pretty certain that is a software/firmware issue as she says its effected her after she installed the latest ota.
any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Yeah I turned of the screensaver and flashed the bl and cp from A520FXXU2BQK1 and she's still getting the error of slow charging when she's using her official charger and it not giving her a 2.5amp charge and it won't detect my dash charger. It's really annoying as she's relying on charging her phone on her laptop to get a fast charge.
latest BL/CP files A520F
flash the BL/CP files linked below in odin to solve the issue of getting the "slow charge, please connect official charger" message when using the official charger. still doesn't let me use my dash charger but its a step in the right direction. ill flash every update that comes out weekly to see if it solves the dash charger issue.
