What browser do you use? - T-Mobile HTC One (M8)

What browser do you use? What is your main browser? I use Chrome but it seems to be somewhat slow sometimes, and it also crashed.

For those same reasons I switched to Dolphin. With a few add-ons you can get all the functionality that Chrome offers between it's mobile and PC browsers without any slow down in performance.

Chrome for obvious reasons but dolphin would eventually stop working so I always went back to chrome

I use the HTC browser. Works great for me. In the rare instance it acts up I'll use Chrome, but that's been rare for me.

Flash enabled Chrome browser?

Honestly, I tried many browsers out there, but I still love chrome, and love the little things it has. Only thing I dont like is how flash is not supported. Is there a way to get flash on Chrome, or is there no ways to get that? I tried searching for similar topics, but I couldnt find any.
If there is no way, can you recommend a browser that is like chrome, but with flash?
Stuff I like about chrome are:
1. I like how I dont lose my tabs even after closing the app (task manager) or even shutting off the phone
2. I like how chrome auto fills the url, such as if I type xd, it autofills all the url l
3. The smoothnews, and the speed.
Thank you!

Nope..there isn't. All mobile browsers do not support flash anymore. U might be able to get it on dolphin or firefox but I found it to be unreliable. It worked with some basic flash i used as a test but not for a local news site when a brush fire was going burn down my home.. Ur supposed to get the app for whatever ur trying to do with flash but obviously u cant find an app for some things like local news... so you just speed home and drive crazy the old way.
The dependency is two fold.. one is android version and the other is browser version. So if you run android 2.0 and ancient browser then you have flawless flash
BTW Opera mobile is faster than chrome and it does all those things u liked (not flash tho). I only use chrome on desktop but I test it on android with every new version. It's still slower on some sites.
Aww thats too bad I guess.
Thanks for the recommendation. Ill trybout opera

Firefox, Still a RAM hog ?

When I had ICS on my HTC Vivd, I had a bad experience with Firefox, then I tried Dolphin browser.
Has anyone used either yet ? Hows that working out for you?

I use Firefox specifically for a couple of sites that don't allow me to save usernames and passwords. There is an add-on that you can install that forces it to remember passwords, even if the site is configured not to. My experience has been really good with Firefox, but I only use it for limited reasons. I use Chrome as my daily driver for normal web surfing.
I used to love Dolphin, but constant force-closes made me switch back to Chrome. Good browser, although right now I'm having a strange issue where occasionally Chrome completely locks up when on the XDA website after loading a page-- I have to clear it from memory and reopen it for it to work.
I downloaded Firefox. Refreshed RAM is same as before.
With that the option to Sync all my bookmarks from my Macbook, I removed Chrome and the Stock browser and am using FF with Adblock exclusively.
Not only that it was a ram hog. It makes the device raises temperature than normal. My fave is Boat.

I also have a huge problem with this on new Nexus 7. Dolphin Browser was locking up also until i unchecked flash in settings. I installed firefox just to get around this issue. I am new Android user and cant believe that the Chrome browser, built by Google canyt navigate this site.
I actually went back to my Ipad to see and had no problems navigating XDA. Then again Ipad does not have flash.

Browser always reloading

has anyone noticed that these forums always reload everytime you touch the screen? I wait for my browser to stop loading, touch the screen to scroll down and it always reloads. Do I need to change a setting?

It happens to me on my tablet (Chrome browser) but not when I'm reading on my laptop (Chrome, Win7).
Yes, on the xda-forums the browser reloads twice before it settles down so I cam tap something.

On the bottom left side of the page select XDA 2013 Beta, it seems to work better on our tablet.
It seems like only Chrome reloads like that. However mine does not reload if I choose XDA 2010. It does reload if I choose XDA 2013 Beta.
why use chrome?

Just a note, after testing out several browsers, there are a few that come to mind as better than chrome. Dolphin, firefox, and boat to name a few. I have flash also working well in Dolphin, whereas in chrome it will not work. This site showss cleanly in Dolphin and it is wicked fast as well.

Dolphin browser crashing for anybody else?

Dolphin browser is crashing a lot on my G Pad running Mahdi KitKat ROM. It does it mostly when I'm searching or zooming in. I love this app but can't deal with the constant crashing. I'm also open to suggestions for other browsers. I need syncing with chrome on my PC and flash if possible.

Have you tried installing Chrome from the play store? It will of course sync and should work just fine. Otherwise post the Mahdi thread about your issue with dolphin.

I reckon flash player is to blame. I know you have no interest in this, but uninstall the flash player and see if dolphin isn't stable. Flash is at this point patched up with frameworks in order to work. Prolly not the most stable thing in the world.
Dolphin with flash is what I use when I absolutely need flash and it may take a few reloads or crashes. If I can I just use Chrome..
crash on Dolphin

You can send Dolphin a crash report in Dolphin Settings > Help > Send Feedback > Stopped unexpectedly.
I often send it in this way. You guys can try it to let Dolphin know your issue.

I've sent many reports to them. They just updated the app but it still crashes a lot. It's a shame because Dolphin runs much faster and has support for flash. But until then, I'll have to stick with Chrome.
Curious, I got the same problem with Opera, it crashed all the time either in stock ROM or CM11. Chrome is OK..

What is mdnsd and why did it just start eating my battery?

Just today there is a new item on my battery stats....mdnsd. It is the top item in battery stats. Anyone have any ideas what it is, why it is suddenly killing my battery, and how to fix it?
This is on stock unrooted OJ6. (It showed up on the second day of use for OJ6.)
As I continue searching for a solution, I find this bug report from mobile Firefox regarding 42.0:
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1215012
In short, is says it this may be a bug in certain beta firefox mobile, and Stable version 42.0 (which is the version I am using) which causes excessive mdnsd usage. Not sure if this is it, but I'll follow this for a while.
Try another browser. Chrome is impressive but I didn't like their merge tabs feature so I disabled it (right near the top of settings).
I recently kicked FlashFox (not to be confused with Mozilla) to the curb for recent constant running of a collector service; reported the app twice for this (the app kept restarting this service). Switched to Mercury browser for a flash browser.
I hate apps that don't behave... browsers can be the worse offenders here.

I don't sign-in or sync browsers. I tend to use my phone a lot for important stuff on the web so I sync my open tabs with titanium as needed and use bank apps. Chrome doesn't get all bogged-down with all those tabs ready to open.
I could just make them shortcuts but I got started on that with temporary browser tests until I could settle on one... creature of habit.

Dolphin was my main browser for a couple years but I pretty much use chrome now.
Following. Same thing popped up on my unrooted sg6 edge in the past 3 days. I am a Firefox sync user, but not on beta, just GA from play store. I deinstalled and rebooted, will check in the morning to see if the problem persists.

I've dumped Firefox and the mdnsd issue went away.
