Browser always reloading - Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) Q&A, Help & Troubl

has anyone noticed that these forums always reload everytime you touch the screen? I wait for my browser to stop loading, touch the screen to scroll down and it always reloads. Do I need to change a setting?

It happens to me on my tablet (Chrome browser) but not when I'm reading on my laptop (Chrome, Win7).

Yes, on the xda-forums the browser reloads twice before it settles down so I cam tap something.

On the bottom left side of the page select XDA 2013 Beta, it seems to work better on our tablet.

It seems like only Chrome reloads like that. However mine does not reload if I choose XDA 2010. It does reload if I choose XDA 2013 Beta.

why use chrome?

Just a note, after testing out several browsers, there are a few that come to mind as better than chrome. Dolphin, firefox, and boat to name a few. I have flash also working well in Dolphin, whereas in chrome it will not work. This site showss cleanly in Dolphin and it is wicked fast as well.

Clarify your problem. What do you mean by that?

Doesn't happen for me. What browser are you using? Also, what system are you running?
Not happening to me. Sounds like the blame lies with your browser or computer, not XDA.

Well have you tried disabling it?
Turn off No-Script or allow *.xda-developers.com. Thank you.
I have this problem, too. I think it started to occur when the new theme became the default theme and it got worse since then.
As an example:
I'm loading up xda and click on a subforum. The forum starts loading the new page and just a milisecond before it finishes loading (the new site seems to be fully loaded already but it's still in loading state according to the browser) it starts loading again. In addition, and that's really annoying, while loading the second time clicking on a thread just opens up the same page again (instead of the thread).
Because of this it can take me up to a minute to actually open the thread I want to open
Browser is Firefox 14 on Win7 x64 SP1, but it happened on 13, too. NoScript is not installed.
I don't have this problem with any other vbulletin board.
Works perfectly on Dolphin Browser and Chrome ICS. Try downloading the app.

I'm experiencing this issue as well. I have xda allowed in NoScript. Just constantly refreshes the site. Super annoying.
Same problem on windows 8 using chrome.

I have the same problem on certain pages too. I am using Chrome 23 on Windows 7 and Fedora 17
I have the same problem, and have had it for weeks. Still happens after disabling adblock and whitelisting this site in noscript.
Use "Quick Theme Chooser" at the bottom of the page and change to "---- XDA 2013 Beta - 1024" theme.

Chrome flashes when scrolling....

This is annoying as shet.... I'm looking at a page where I need to scroll down or up, and instead of it scrolling, it blinks totally white and then loads again scrolled up or down. Its doing the same thing on my S4..anyone else?

There have been a lot of Chrome problems reported. I'm using Firefox and haven't encountered any problems yet.

I just tried that and testing now. I installed Firefox due to it and was just getting adjusted to it. We will see if your suggestion works.

Heh. I live in FF on all my devices and have everything synced so that's [luckily] not an issue for me.

Try chrome beta, works well for me
I am seeing the same thing here. Hopefully Google will be pushing out an update for Chrome to fix this soon.
As shmaque said, disabling JavaScript in Chrome also stopped this from being a problem for me. Of course that may become a problem of its own when browsing the internet these days. So far so good.
Well, as expected, I ran into some trouble logging in to a couple websites with JavaScript disabled, so I have re-enabled it. The problems that a number of us were seeing were limited to xda-developers.com as noted at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2380099.
Changing the default XDA site layout (located at the bottom of every XDA page) to 2010 has fixed the issue for some of us. Credit goes to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=44038082&postcount=17 for bringing the idea to my attention.

Firefox, Still a RAM hog ?

When I had ICS on my HTC Vivd, I had a bad experience with Firefox, then I tried Dolphin browser.
Has anyone used either yet ? Hows that working out for you?

I use Firefox specifically for a couple of sites that don't allow me to save usernames and passwords. There is an add-on that you can install that forces it to remember passwords, even if the site is configured not to. My experience has been really good with Firefox, but I only use it for limited reasons. I use Chrome as my daily driver for normal web surfing.
I used to love Dolphin, but constant force-closes made me switch back to Chrome. Good browser, although right now I'm having a strange issue where occasionally Chrome completely locks up when on the XDA website after loading a page-- I have to clear it from memory and reopen it for it to work.
I downloaded Firefox. Refreshed RAM is same as before.
With that the option to Sync all my bookmarks from my Macbook, I removed Chrome and the Stock browser and am using FF with Adblock exclusively.
Not only that it was a ram hog. It makes the device raises temperature than normal. My fave is Boat.

I also have a huge problem with this on new Nexus 7. Dolphin Browser was locking up also until i unchecked flash in settings. I installed firefox just to get around this issue. I am new Android user and cant believe that the Chrome browser, built by Google canyt navigate this site.
I actually went back to my Ipad to see and had no problems navigating XDA. Then again Ipad does not have flash.

I have a problem with my browser.
Only xda page continous reload in browser. I deactivate all extensions but problem not solved. I need a solution.
Thanks for advices
I had this problem when enabled noscripts plugin in firefox. Please check for plugins and allow xda scripts. This should resolve.
Try starting browser in safe mode.

You did not flood. Thanks for update. You should try with new browser window after clearing cache cookie. Usually ccleaner does that for you.
Next time please mention device. PC or mobile. Forum is accessible through all means.

I have the same problem using Archlinux and Chrome. Any idea how to solve it?
I am experiencing this as well. Every time I touch the screen it reloads the page. I've run out of ideas. This only happens to me on XDA's site. If I uninstall Chrome and install it again it goes away for a time and then comes back I believe once I have logged in and posted.
I'm running Wanamlite 3.9 on a GT-N7100.
Same Here...

I am having the same issue but not just on my Samsung S4 phone, but also using IE 11 on my Win 8.1 pc.
Just wanted to contribute this info in the hopes that a solution is forthcoming from the geniuses on XDA!
TIA

Likewise: when browsing xda forums with chrome, it continually reloads, but only when I'm logged in to xda. If logout, it stops reloading. This happens on my Samsung Note 2 and my Barnes & Noble Nook HD+. I haven't tested it on any other platforms.
Yep. Same here. Using Chrome on Android.
Also same here.
Chrome on Win7 and chrome on Asus Tf300TG with 4.2
Selecting the XDA 2013 Beta 1024 theme at the bottom of the page fixed it for me on my Android tablet.
the problem also happened for me with opera mobile classic in desktop mode, using a note 2.
but the reloading only happened in topic/forum lists, and only if I tried to zoom in.
appelflap's solution worked for me.
edit:
something that might help in finding the real source of the problem: ?nocache=1&z=6394149552676460 gets added to the url whenever the page refreshes automatically.
Looks like appelflap method fixed my android and desktop browser issue. ThankYou
The site admins have been notified of the issue and they are looking into it.
In addition to the reloading issue, they need to be aware of the random redirects to Badoink. Nasty porn app that you can hardly back button away from. I'm so sick of reading a thread, and all of a sudden a giant d**k pops up on my screen. Freaking disgusting.

I have the same problem that my browser (Firefox) keeps reloading, and only on xda-developers. Browsing in a thread is no problem, but the forum overview keeps reloading ever two seconds or so. It seems to be a problem with a script, because I use NoScript and allowing all scripts to be executed solves the problem. I only expierience this on xda and permanently allowing every script is not an option for me, so I avoid the forum overview and only follow my subscribed threads until this issue is resolved.
I have the same problem with Firefox and Chrome on windows 7, XP, and Ubuntu 13.04
To my phone with chrome, dolphin and stock browser i haven't this problem..
EDIT: Now I have no issues, the pages aren't reloading anymore.
What did you do to stop the reloading?

Latest v5.02 update and browsers

Anyone notice that Dolphin, Boat Browser for Tablet and Maxthon browsers seem to force close a lot since this latest update? I notice it most at IMDB.com when browsing pretty hard through it. Just poof, and back to desktop.

I have applied the latest OTA (yesterday) and use Boat Browser. I've not had one FC or issue as you describe and just went to imdb.com without a problem.

Maybe I need a full reset.....I was in there (IMDB) last night and added a few TV shows to a list and removed some and searched for others. At about 5 minutes with Dolphin the screen locked up and then it went to Home. Tried the others I mentioned and they fell short too doing the same things....
But the stock browser is doing fine....go figure.

Did a full reset yesterday and after a few minor issues things seem like they're back to normal. I use Apex Launcher and maybe I didn't get it setup right, but I was getting warnings about widgets not loading properly. I emptied all screens of all widgets and still would see the warning at start and end of the Intellecast app. So I switched the default loader back to Touchwiz. No errors. Rebooted and then restarted Apex and reset it as default launcher. Now, no problems.
Yippie!
