Ok, just had a quick question for those with root who have debloated their phones already (or those who can answer regardless).
First time having a G3 and my first time being on T-Mobile since the invention of Android (just moved from Verizon, and in my area I am absolutely loving it, not to mention the unlimited data I have missed oh so much since my ATT days),
Anyways, I would just like to know what all is ok to remove from this phone for debloating, just don't want to wind up uninstalling something that breaks stuff, but I would definitely like to get rid of whatever I safely can, so any help on the subject or what all you guys removed when getting rid of bloat on your devices would definitely be appreciated. Coming from a Moto X DevEd there wasn't really anything worth removing, so I haven't really even thought about carrier bloat in a while since I ditched my Galaxy S3 for it.
Thanks for any help.

I was going to ask the same question since this is my 1st LG device. I would proceed with caution until there's a definitive list posted. Also, I've always found it better to freeze the bloat with Titanium. If you use Titanium to freeze the app and there's a problem you can unfreeze it. If you've uninstalled or deleted the app you'd need to reflash your stock firmware.

The T-Mobile version doesn't have as much bloat as other G3 versions, so it should be pretty easy.
Here's what I have removed.
These you can uninstall:
Box
ThinkFree Viewer
Favorite Contacts
These I uninstalled with Titanium Backup once I got root:
Chrome (I use Chrome Beta)
T-Mobile Name ID
T-Mobile TV
Lookout
There are three Carrier IQ files. Not sure if these are ok to remove. There's supposed to be a way to opt out of these diagnostics, can't remember the menu. I did a nandroid backup so I'll remove these shortly.
If you don't have root, you can disable the apps. In order to disable Lookout, you first have to remove it from Device Administrators, then you'll be able to disable it.
Im subscribing to this thread for the answer...was just about to ask thte same when you posted
I removed all of the carrier IQ stuff. I even removed the shared object file after a reboot. No issues.

As others have said, freeze the apps with Titanium instead of uninstalling them. That way, it's easy to get them back should you have any issues or need them. This is everything that I have frozen with no ill effects.
Look for Voodoo carrier IQ detector in the play store (it's free). It will tell you the path.
I always rename the file with a different extension first, that way if something goes wrong, I can revert it in TWRP.

Can you specify which is the Carrier IQ stuff and were to remove the shared object file? Never thought about carrier iq before, installed debloated stock roms on gs3 and Moto x DevEd (was still Verizon) the day I got them, never really researched on Carrier IQ.

Honestly I didn't keep track of exactly which files I removed. There are a couple of apks and a single shared object (.so) file.
Look for that app I mentioned earlier, voodoo. It will search your system and tell you which files are a part of it.
Take care of the apks first. Move them to some other location (ie. /storage/emulated/0) then reboot and rerun voodoo. Eventually you will be left with just the .so file. Then remove that last.
Again, always move the files first, reboot to see if anything is wrong. Once they're all moved, and you're sure you didn't screw anything up, then delete them.

Hmm, Voodoo doesn't mention the .so file in my case, but says diagandroid.iqd is running, even though I have removed the three Carrier IQ files in Titanium backup. This is the only item that Voodoo is detecting, and I have rebooted already.
A cursory Google search says this may be related to the LG keyboard. I didn't remove that, but switched to the Google keyboard.

It comes up on AT&T G3 Carrier IQ discussions, so it seems it is part of Carrier IQ. When I first set up the phone, it told me where to go to disable it, but I don't remember now.
Here's a list of all files I removed (disclaimer: I don't use any of the LG apps, including the LG launcher)
com.mobitv.client.tmobiletvhd.apk (and .odex)
ECID-release.apk (and .odex)
IQ-tmobile-release-unsigned.signed.apk (and .odex)
IQ_OOB_v1.6_forLG.signed.apk (and .odex)

TMO_VVM.apk (and .odex)

It is not an exhaustive list of all things that can be removed, and I will likely remove more in the near future.

Hi guys,
I want to share how I tested Ears (Music Search widget) and Wallet on the Nexus phone I recently purchased directly from Google.
I live in Montreal Canada and use Bell Canada as service provider. Today I went to Bestbuy in Plattsburgh and purchased a T-Mobile SIM card with a one month 30$ prepaid unlimited data plan. I'm going next week to United States for a week vacation and I wanted to have unlimited data available on the road.
My phone is stock, not rooted or CWM installed. The idea was to see if Wallet and any other hidden apps will stay functional when I revert back to Bell SIM card. I use a VPN at home so I have access to all US services (Play Music, etc.) Google offers. After initial JB update done on Bell with VPN enabled for Wi-Fi, the Wallet was hidden and even if Music Search was listed into installed apps, it did not showed into widgets list.
Once the guy at Bestbuy activated my SIM card, I rebooted the phone and voila, Wallet and Ears popped as available. I also noticed another hidden app, Play Magazines. There is nothing fancy about it, it links to magazine subscriptions offered in Google Play.
With T-Mobile SIM card on, I configured Wallet and link it to my Google Apps account, everything worked properly:

}
I also tested the Music Search widget, everything worked properly.
Next, I shut down the phone and switched the SIM card to Bell. When I tried to open Wallet, I was greeted by this message:
However, the Music Search widget continued to work properly while on Bell network:
At least I got Ears working properly, without the rebooting issue others mentioned (the app will lock itself). BTW, no idea why people are referring to "unfreeze/freeze app", there is no such thing in Package Manager commands:
Code:
pm enable PACKAGE_OR_COMPONENT
pm disable PACKAGE_OR_COMPONENT
In conclusion, it sucks to be a Canuck and own a Nexus. Wallet is so awesome and we are prohibited to use it. I was reading on another Canadian mobile site that the usual "mobile" suspects (Bell, Rogers, Telus, etc.) plan create the "Mobile Wallet" app... a poor attempt to emulate Google Wallet in Canada. It will probably have a crazy ugly interface, remember the Visa one that looked like it was coded by a 5 years old kid. Anything they can do to stop users take advantage to a cool product like Google Wallet and get rich by pocketing the fees Google would otherwise.
Man I wish Google wallet was working in Canada would make things so much easier.

Wallet fails to add money using my Canadian credit card that has a US billing address. Another "V" for canucks. :victory:
I'll buy a sandwich at McDonald's with the $10 I have not, just for kicks. Not sure I can afford a combo, heh.
Wish they would enable wallet over here in the UK, but I bet the carriers was to implement some solution of their own as always.
As far as freeze/unfreeze, that's what titanium backup called disabling applications before it could be done natively, seems the names stuck.

Just wanted to share my experience with Google Ears.
I flashed yakju 4.0.2 a way back (it came with yakjuxw). 4.0.4 came via OTA and I manually flashed JB (the 4.1.1 version). The phone is only unlocked and rooted. I'm in Croatia and I've never had an issue with Google Ears. I put the widget on my screen the first day I found it and the app never froze after a reboot. Curious, huh?

Not sure what "natively" is referring to but let me see if I can expand on this comment.
Many apps come installed as part of the phone. These are called system apps. What you install are called user apps. When you go to uninstall apps, you can only remove user apps.
If you root you phone, you can take advantage of an app like Titanium Backup. One of many great function is that you can freeze or even uninstall system apps with it. It is recommended that you freeze the app first before permanently removing it. Freezing an app make is invisible to the phone, even though the files are still there. Unfreezing the app just makes it visible again.
So, you can freeze Wallet and it won't bug you, and then you can unfreeze it next time you go on vacation to USA.
There is not a lot of use for Wallet in the US at the moment, at least not with NFC. As to your $30 unlimited data plan, you realize your 4G is capped, right?

How does "freezing" or "defrosting" work? How does Titanium do it? What property does it change in the app so that it is frozen or defrosted? I would like to be able to do this without Titanium.

You can use adb to issue the commands OP wrote in the first post: "pm enable /system/app/GoogleEars.apk"
I think that's the syntax.
Maybe some script at boot with a kernel that supports init.d folder I assume.
Cheers!

No I don't have, maybe the Google Ears app was unusable because I couldn't be able to install it again, so I searched the app from google and I found it then I installed it and it works now..
I used DroidVPN to update Google Music and I deforst the google apps then I installed them again from /system/app/ but I think some of those files will be gone again when I reboot my Galaxy Nexus because once them was on my phone 2 or 3 days but then suddenly them was gone I rebooted my Nexus many times then and I installed the google apps from system/apps so I din't defrost them with any app..

Just to let you know, Music Search works properly for me even if I reboot the phone on Bell network.

Thought I'd spread the word. All credit goes to Paul on this! Amazing work!
Google Wallet is super cool. It allows purchasing of things using the NFC chip in your device at Mastercard PayPass terminals, using either an inbuilt pre-paid card (which is loaded up with $10 free credit initially) or a CitiBank Citi Mastercard. But, there is a problem - and that's that Wallet is only available for a very limited subset of devices on a limited number of operators in the US.
Hence the need to patch the APK.
Now, i'll start by saying that there may well be a patched APK out there already (I didn't check), I chose to patch the APK myself because, when i'm putting in my credit card numbers etc. I like to know what i'm working with. I started with the latest version I downloaded personally from the Google Play Store (by spoofing my operator with 'Market Access') which I then patched as required.
The patched APK
The APK has 3 features that I patched out. The first was a device check - the app will now work on any device. Of course you need to have NFC for it to be useful! I tested on a HTC One X successfully (as you can see in the screenshots above) but of course YMMV. The second patch was an operator check - the app should now not care which operator you are on. The third patch was removing the root warning. Google Wallet doesn't actually stop you using the app if you're rooted, it just gives you a warning on screen (which is a little annoying), so I removed it. BUT... rather than having the warning in app, let me post it here instead. If you are using Google Wallet on a rooted device, really think about which apps you are giving root access... because there is the possibility that a malicious app could do bad things. There's no evidence of this happening, but it's possible. As always, be wary of what you're installing and where it came from.
Installation
The APK cannot be installed in the regular way (because it is not re-signed and therefore has broken signatures), instead you should push the apk to /system/app (or copy there using a file explorer and set appropriate permissions) and then you'll be good to go. This means you'll need to be rooted or at least have a custom recovery installed mind. To uninstall, use the 'reset wallet' option in the settings menu then delete the APK.
Important note re: upgrading
If you are using a previous version of Wallet, please ensure you the 'reset wallet' option in the Wallet app settings.
Download
Download the patched APK here - DOWNLOAD (ROMraid) - MD5: 775946c9b164d2dd1edc1a36e59e41a3
Topping Up
So you've installed the APK and spent your initial $10 at Greggs or maybe Mcdonalds. Healthy. Now you need to top up... there's a problem!
Google Wallet only allows you to load the prepaid card using a US card, which most of us accessing Wallet this way don't have! The card that you use needs to support AVS (address verification) with a US address, something that also excludes a number of US cards. I'm hoping that we as a community can collaborate to work out the best way to do this, but i've tried a few methods and i've chronicled them below. I'll update this post as more methods / information surfaces. I'm hoping we can find a low cost disposable Visa solution or similar that makes the process easy. Getting a US address is easy enough to associate with a card, just sign up (free) for US Unlocked.
BFPS - Virtual credit card in various denominations, configurable AVS address, use coupon 'modaco' for 5% discount - WORKING
EntroPay - Virtual credit card, turns out to be Malta registered and doesn't support AVS - FAILED
US Unlocked card - Virtual credit card, currently untested - UNKNOWN
The 1.5 release
The 1.5 release added support for third party Visa / Mastercard / Discover / Amex cards. This is officially US only at the moment and although you CAN get non-US cards appearing correctly, in my experience so far, payments are always declined.
Disclaimer
If you use any of the above modified APKs or top up methods, you do so at your own risk! Please let us know how you get on in the comments below, so we can refine / improve the process based on our experiences.
WARNING
If you plan to wipe your device, switch ROM on your device or otherwise do anything unusual (including 'clearing data' on wallet), it is highly recommended that you use the 'reset wallet' option in the Wallet app settings. Failure to do this could render Wallet inoperable on your device!
Another note of caution, we're using a 'hack' here, so it's probably not the best idea to load up your Prepaid card with a ton of money in case Google blocks hacked wallets, something changes, etc. etc. and you could lose your money. Again, use at your own risk.
And finally...
If you find the above useful and you want to support my work on this and all the other MoDaCo projects, please consider signing up for a premium MoDaCo account. Thanks!

It's most likely $10 per account not per device so you would probably have to link the app on each phone to a separate account in order to do that.

I get the same thing. I wonder if it's the NFC configuration that's missing for us.

That sounds like the secure element was messed up due to clearing data or falshing a rom without reseting wallet. I beleive there is a fix floating around for that.

Same here, I've never had wallet installed on this phone.
But, this apk did work great on my verizon nexus (which stopped working after it requested an update) lol. thanks!
I just installed Google wallet today from another thread. There were some library file to flash then the .apk. I'll find the thread and link you guys. Maybe it will shed some light.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1794733
EDIT: This site has a solution for Touchwiz and AOSP ROMs. Maybe that's the problem? It links to yet another thread for more complete instructions and discussion.

When i tried it....it removed the NFC function from the phone....I think it's for ICS based ROMs....I'm running Jelly Bean which may be why it's not working for me....I posted to see if it was me maybe getting the error, but seems we all are....

Yea i think you're right. The same thing happened to me (losing nfc options in settings) when i tried that method. I was also running jb so i think that it only works on ics for now

I can't get the apk to install using UVDLI8. I changed permissions and put it into /system/app but the install fails.

Oh, sorry then. I'm wondering if anyone can answer this: I tried to give GW it's first test today and it failed. I have NFC enabled in settings and I've set up my account. I have a FlyGrip attached to the rear of my phone, an accessory that allows me to hold this big phone with one hand and reach all areas of the screen with my thumb. I'm wondering if it failed because I cant touch my phone flush with the PayPass reader? For this same reason I cannot do the wireless charging hack the rear of the phone needs to be flush with the charging pad. So, can it be less than an inch away or does it need to touch? Maybe that FlyGrip has got to go.
I was looking for an auto-debloat script for the S4. I have manually removed a good tonnage of crap and then I came across these two threads:
Auto-Debloat S4 Flashable Zip and TrulyClean, both of which are for the ATT S4 variants.
I modified the the TrulyClean script to suit my preferences and debloated without a hitch. As I look through TitaniumBackup, there is still a lot of bloatware installed and some of them are hard to judge if they are safe to remove or not.
Are there any thorough SGH-M919 scripts/flashable files for debloating or a list of files safe to remove?
Forgive me if this has already been addressed. Thanks.
EDIT: I am already aware of this list as well.
There is an app on the play store called nobloat as well

I've already used No Bloat and Titanium Backup and removed a lot of stuff manually. I guess I should refine my question.
Are there any scripts or programs that can automate the removal of "unnecessary" files (i.e., bloatware, "useless" services, etc) for the T-Mobile M919? Clearly your definition and my definition of useless will be different, but I just want to see something where someone went through processes or services that are not really useful on a daily basis?
For example, a script that removes all the T-Mobile added crapware, removes certain 3rd party services (HP Print Svcs, Epson Print Svcs, etc), etc. I've used the ATT ones but they are still lackluster.
Any script specifically for the Tmobile variant?
Bump.
Double check the truly clean thread. I think if you updated an app the update remains and has to be removed manually. Other than that....not sure. Trulyclean was enough for me.
Thought this may be useful for everyone to have as the device does sadly have a tendency to be a bit laggy.
Have followed a few guides and got some great info from XDA so trying to give a little back if I can
From what I have done I have found no ill effects that I have noticed so far, all fairly obvious choices so early on, but will get braver as I get more used to the handset and I'm sure others have been more adventurous than me and can help bulk the list up a bit and we can do away with a whole bunch of bloat to get a smoother ride from out G3. Some of these I froze as I prefer other 3rd party apps.
Frozen/Removed
Cell Broadcast
E-Mail
Documents
File Manager
Internet/Stock Browser
LG Health
LG Search Widget Provider
LG Setup Wizard
McAfee Security
Messaging (stock)
Music
Video
Video Trim
Weather
Weather Theme
Weather Platform
If you have any other suggestions please post and and I'll add updates to Post 1 for easy reference :highfive:
Hope this helps some fellow G3 users

I think you should do a different list for the Google apps, the main attention people will give this thread is to find out what LG apps they can freeze and remove, most people will not be interesting in removing the Google apps from their devices.

Understood, you are most likely correct. Google Apps removed from list
If possible, can you post the real app name (the apk name in /system/app or /system/app-priv) ?
Thanks
Get my G3 later today. Thanks for the list! I'm completely new to Android, so how do I remove bloat ware?
you need to keep file manager if you wish to write to the extsd card

Is freezing them through TB essentially a better version of hibernating them through Greenify?

They do different things. Freezing them is like uninstalling them - they are gone and won't work at all but can be retrieved by unfreezing. Greenifying them just hibernates them but they work as normal.

Also in system/vendor/app. Found some stuff in there that tibu couldn't get rid of. Here's most of what I froze. If it's not in my list of frozen apps I deleted it lol

Could we have a non-root list, and also a description of what gets disabled/broken for each one. E.g. what does Cell Broadcast do? (I've googled, I 'm now aware, not relevant currently in the UK).
ActionManager service? Board Content Provider?
I've found this list but most of the bloat on Verizon wasn't on mine, since I'm not in the US: http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-lg-g3/general/list-bloatware-safe-to-disable-t2819370
I wonder if anyone has the time, patience, and good will to compile all of these threads into one master index?

I've noticed that the system doesn't allow you to disable everything if you're not rooted so maybe anything you are allowed to disable is safe to disable.

And how is everything working out after having disabled all those 3 weeks ago? Any anomalies or bad experiences? So far your screenshots give the best list of the removable apps (I'm completely new to LG so I don't know about their stock stuff), and I'd love to remove them but I'm afraid to experiment without a fully working recovery to restore nandroid.

Awesome, thanks for the quick feedback! I just got a notification about a new downloadable software update (will not do it ofc), I suppose freezing the software update app will mean no more notifications and to setbacks either?

Correct. I have mine frozen to avoid receiving update notifications. Also this is good until you find out if the new update is rootable. If its not then its good to stick with the current software.

My list is almost this one of yours. Had to unfreeze some of those because it made the home screen very lagged.
Everything Google uninstalled or frozen for over 2 weeks. No problems or complaints.
thanks the development has really taken off for this great device
So I froze most of these. Will it free up memory or do I have to delete them? Kinda scared to delete them. I have nandroid backup, just hate to possibly have to restore when the phone is running good.
Let me start by being explicitly clear that I am NOT the developer, all credit should go to @blaz1nr who has created a script to remove bloatware from our devices, Lollipop builds. We are looking to identify the Sprint specific apps for deletion. Unfortunately I have already deleted most if not all the Sprint apps as I don't use them, but I am trying to help out with a comprehensive list. I am sure that I have missed some, can you remind me. Here is what I recall off hand:
Connections Optimizer
Connections Optimizer Updater
Sprint ID
Sprint Zone
Those are all the ones that I can recall. There is a much longer list of general bloatware here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...pt-galaxy-cleaner-lollipop-debloater-t3156007
Please let me know what I have missed.

Thanks for your help i appreciate your effort to help the community.
A few thing I see:
Sprint Fun & Games
Family Wall for Sprint
Sprint TV & Movies
Sprint Music Plus
Sprint Family Locator
I don't know if these are part of Sprint but would be nice to see gone:
Galaxy Apps
Spotify
plus Messaging
1Weather
NextRadio
Uber
App Spotlight
Scout
NBA Game TIme
Nascar Mobile 2014
Don't forget the devil of Sprint apps... ItsON.
Ok guys I finally got my hands on a pure stock rom. I'll be adding all the sprint bloatware in today. Thanks for the list.

Flashfire seems to work as well.
Ok so far every stock rom I'm getting does not have most of the listed apps. I'm going to look around some more to find what I need. While I'm doing that. If someone could look in the system and give me the folder paths, that would be helpful. Folder path would be something like (system/app/ConnectionOptimizer or what ever is needing to be removed.
