Lte problem - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have the att variant of the m8 and I have to set my radio to wcdma only or my data is so inconsistent with dropouts that I can't use the phone. wcdma is very consistent and stable... But I also own an iPhone 5s and it has zero problems with a lte signal and it never drops. Is this a known issue with this phone? Wcdma is fine but obviously I'd rather be on lte... Its just in my area.... When I get close to a bigger city, lte works fine when I switch it back.

I think you've worked it out for yourself. With good coverage it works fine.
Maybe you are in a bit of a fringe area and the LTE signal drops in and out a bit?

Totally agree... But why does the iPhone not have the same problem?

you could try flashing some different radios and see if it helps.

Just to make you aware if your signal is poor at home you can get a home signal booster from customer service.
you do have to raise a case with them and have an unlimited home broadband package from any provider

I get really poor signal at work and when I enter a some shops near work and city centre. They're investigating and coming back with a solution soon.

Force HSPA+ mod?

It seems like pages would load faster if the radio was forced to stay on HSPA+ rather than going back to umts then waiting that second for it to jump back on HSPA. Anyone ever heard of a mod that makes the radio stay on HSPA network?
There's definitely a difference between the both in terms of speed. I came from Verizon and there LTE network was good but not great. I get better speeds at home on t-mobile but better at work on Verizon. There network was good at going through walls. The big difference is there LTE radio is always on forcing fast speeds out the gate. It's always on. If there was a mod to just force the radio to stay on HSPA there wouldn't be much of a difference between the both when it comes to user experience. It's not a big deal but was curious if anyone ever heard of such a thing.
Please exclude the I9505 build prop as I'm enjoying one of the international builds at this time. Again my data is good but forcing this HSPA network to stay on would definitely improve user experience. Maybe one day I will have the skills to create such a mod
Wishful thinking. Thanks community and please don't flame this thread. I'm in Q&A and it's just a thought

Yes if you look in the mobile network in settings you can change the gs4 to the second mobile network setting which is without LTE. with that setting checked it only uses HSPA. Enjoy. I use it when LTE is acting funny

Thanks! It still bounces back and forth. It looks like it's meeting the demand when data is requested like it should. Its just frustrating I have to wait for it to jump back to hspa. Thanks I definitely appreciate the help!

It's called fast dormancy. And your battery would die without it. I usually run a terminal and have a ping running to keep it alive and ready

Awesome man! Thanks for the clarification. I read up on it and it seems like some new technology. I did find a toggle at the playstore for this.

If you're on a Samsung phone, type *#*#4636#*#* in the dialer. Open Phone information. There'll be a drop down list saying 'Set preferred network type'. You can force LTE only or WCDMA only etc there. There are other options too, depending upon the phone.

[Q] Enable LTE access on T-Mobile's network

I have an AT&T SGH-I747 running CM11 that I have unlocked and using on T-mobile's network. Unfortunately though I can only access edge and I would like to be able to acces 3g, 4g, or LTE. How would I go about enabling this on my phone? Any help is appreciated.

Seems that the problem could be on the APN... Search for them it should be something like fast.t-mobile.com

I have tried that one out and nothing has changed. Still stuck on edge. Thanks for the suggestion though.
I used to work for t-mobile and that's the LTE APN...
check on their website the LTE coverage areas around you.
Make a backup of your device and attempt a factory reset.
there were some devices I worked with that the factory reset worked like a magic trick.

I can't really do a factory reset, as I am currently running CM11 and I was previously on ATT. My friend on Tmobile get's LTE coverage here so I would assume I would be capable of that as well. Or at least get 3g coverage.

I read some old topics where upgrading TWRP or CWM to the latest and 're-flashing was solving the LTE issue this was about 3-4 months ago

Hmmm, ok. I have the second to most recent CWM and I reflashed to CM11 again just this morning. Still don't have access.

It needs to be 3845#*850# because its the D850 not the 855
My M7 had an option to switch from LTE auot to WCDMA/GSM Auto - no such luck on the G3?
LTE at work is so over saturated I get better speeds on WCDMA but I can't get my phone to switch besides doing the dialer method.

Tasker should be able to do this for you if the magic menu does not. You can even configure Tasker to automatically sense cell phone towers at work and convert to WCDMA, then auto-switch back to LTE once you are no longer in the vicinity of the cell phone towers. Just one of the many, many amazing and useful things Tasker can do for you.

am I on 4G or LTE?

Hi guys i'm wondering if i have the maximum speed from my provider (Rogers). I did some speed test.
2.89 mbps/0.8 and 12.2 mbps/0.8 mbps. I'm not sure if im on LTE or just 4G. I can't show you my homepage (I'm new can't post link) but I have the symbol 4G, not LTE like my iphone 5s
If you see only 4g symbol on rogers than its only 4g. Should be ltev on canadien devices.
And your speedtests tell me your on 4g.
Call rogers they will help you . maybe its error on there end if not go to setting/ networks and select lte gsm

You need to ckeck your network settings first to see if your network mode shows LTE or not.
