if any system files have been modified, then the ota wont work. easiest way to get to zvc is to tot to it. (copy all pictures and anything important that is in the internal memory to a computer first! )

hmmmm when I flash the ZVA I dissable all apps from sprint... I rename each of does like example.apk.bak, is that the reason why it cant update?

Yup exactly why, it will fail even if 1 file is missing or wrong. As poster above you stated, best bet is to first backup all your important files currently on your internal storage to a pc & then tot your device to ZVC.

When I flash the ZVA I had to unlock it, and APNS stuff, does that matter? or only the apps that I dissable

I change the app names back to original .apk and still cant apply the update....
What I know is that when I flash ZVA I had to appky the permanent unlock for it to work with my sim.... ( I replace the carrier folder, the apn file, and other stuff mentionen on unlock threat...
If I want to update OTA to ZVC do I have to let the ZVA without unlock?

It is possible, but i don't have 802 phone to test.
There needs to be one of these for all models. Can you possibly make it available for the Verizon's lg g2?

So first we unzip ur rom, then we use that tot/kdz extractor tool n extract the vs980 kdz/tot and replace all the img files from ur rom w the img files from the vs980 kdz then zip it back up right?
edit: oh also does this wipe internal storage like actually flashing a tot/kdz or do you keep the stuff on data/media?
Yes this is correct.
And by doing this will wipe everything, the same as flashing kdz

Firmware Update M8 Rogers

Hi, I've talked of this before. The firmware update, I tried returning to stock then attempting to update the firmware through updating the software OTA but that failed no matter what I did. I returned to stock, flashed the stock recovery, and even locked the bootloader. And finally I attempted an RUU but the RUU failed. So now I lost all my data in vain. I rooted the phone again and reflashed it to Insert coin android 4.4.4, ect.. And I currently am really tired of this. Isn't there any way to get through this? I want the new Insert Coin Lollipop but I have S-ON and cant update the firmware. Can someone please help me? It would be really appreciated. Thanks for reading this lousy comment.

I don't know anything about Insert Coin. But if you want stock lollipop from Rogers, you could restore a Nandroid backup via TWRP.
For a start, post your fastboot getvar all (without serial no. and imei no.)
Then most probably the nandroid that ikeny mentioned is the right backup.
I'd be more worried about the RUU failing - I wonder what the error code was?
If OP's M8 was Rogers branded, CID ROGER_001, then RUU from Rogers never existed in the first place. Perhaps this explains the error.

I'm actually kinda wondering, is there a method to update to lollipop without returning to stock? I don't have S-OFF so I cant update the firmware alone. All I want is to update the firmware somehow and then I'd be able to use the latest Insert Coin Lollipop Rom. Although thanks a ton for that link, I'll use it as my last resort.

Hmnn...Thank you very much. I appreciate it a lot. So now that I have downloaded the last link to the first post which named "Rogers_5_0_1.zip" I just have to backup all my media, apps, ect...Then I can restore the lollipop backup, root the phone, then install Insert Coin 5.1. And I'm also assuming the data being wiped is absolutely unavoidable.

Hi, I unzipped the Rogers_5_0_1.zip file and it came out a folder named "2015-02-05--12-39-33 LRX22C release-keys" and an img file named "recovery.img." Do I just copy the folder to my backup TWRP folder then ignore the img file? Sorry for being really annoying and asking a lot of question, I just wanna make sure I'm doing it right.

Zvg modem is backed up through twrp. But your aboot(boot loader) is not copied in twrp. Though zve with twrp, means that you are jelly bean boot loader. Not a match.

Well I cannot get this to even show up in Recovery in TWRP. put in the TWRP>Backups folder, tried the TWRP root folder, nothing works. Only thing I can thing of is he is using a different version of TWRP than me (2.8.6.1)
This really sucks as I am having the notorious issue where my phone is detectable everywhere except for in DOWNLOAD mode. Have tried multiple cables, original LG cable, 2 different PCs (Win7), reinstalling USB drivers, LG/Android...etc. So weird as if the phone is in normal mode, I can see it in windows, but as soon as I go to download mode, it is not discoverable. So this is the only method I can think of that will work. I was going to initially .TOT to ZVE and then OTA or one of the other methods for ZVG. So frustrated.

So when you go to download mode, it stays at the smaller graphic of a download status or the big one that will say you're rooted.
I think we need to find a way to fix your download mode to work.
When you say it doesn't find your phone. You have the big graphic of the download bar and your windows device manager doesn't show anything under com settings?

Device Manager will still show LGE AndroidNet USB Serial Port (41)...made sure it wasnt a port issue already
It goes into download mode, top says Firmware Update, shows the Do Not Unplug the USB connection......message with the 0% progress bar, and at the bottom says B66 and in red ROOTED. But this is where ADB loses contact with the device. 'ADB Devices' comes back blank and 'ADB wait-for-device' just waits forever. When the phone is running normally I can get a response from 'ADB devices' with the correct device ID.
I am sure this doesn't matter, but I was on BlissPoP 3.2 (LP 5.1), then TWRP'd back to a ZVE rooted I had saved stupidly thinking that would help.
I'm sure different cables give same result. I know when I side loaded the zvg update, different cables made a difference on how fast it transfered.
Only other thing I can think of is to try replace the laf partition with the correct auto-rec.
Since you went back to one kind of ROM. Maybe this might help it

I think i borked my esn/meid with this. While my phone was soft bricked and would only flash zvg roms, I tried this, but left EFS checked out of habit. I think it restored a broken EFS because my esn one my phone doesn't match the one on my account that has been there 6 months. This is the only efs mucking about that ive done... but of course, i dont have any twrp efs backups stored anywhere.

Flash fire ain't working phone just reboots with no changes
can i install on retbr?
I think the location version does not matter as long as you have the right build number. I had retla .15 and tried to flash .35 in order to update to .67 (fail), the ota ask for .14/.15. So I had to install stock .15 again and redo the process.
Something I'd like to add is the stock recovery did not recognize internal or sd storage, so I had to push ota via ADB.
*Also my warning bootscreen changed from N/A to Bad Key multiple times for apparently no reason. But everything is working fine.
Pls tell me how u went back to 15 plsss

Exactly what I have been trying to tell. There is a fingerprint mismatch that happens. On a side note how did you manage to take yourself back from .35 to .15 and then update to .67. I get the last part, but downgrading with a higher bootloader; and where did you get the .15 build
You can simply install one of the stock versions already posted here in the forum, I just downloaded the .15 and installed it again via fastboot with the command lines (also explained in that post, in comments) like any other stock rom. Then, after starting the phone you must activate USB debbuging mode to be able to use ADB commands, so you can restart the phone in stock recovery and activate the push ota update via ADB.
Anyway, if this sounds complicated I think there is already a flashable .zip to apply ota, you can give it a try.

[H930] New Pie build V30q with Sep 1, 2019 security patch is here!

Running this build since last weekend and is fire.
I can confirm performance(like RAM management) and smoothness are improved, the overlaping notifications is fixed as well and even LG's terrible gesture navigation implementation seems refined (I recommend using FluidNG to have back gestures as a complement). Battery is fine tho
Please don't try using OTA if you're rooted.
If you are already on PIE V30B rooted IS EASIER to Backup you data, Restore the provided TWRP v30q BACKUP, then RESTORE your data and root . Latest stock version and all your data intact.

You can see in a video here:
Is indian jio volte working on twrp method?
Just a reminder: You cannot use a OTA file if TWRP is installed, the bootloader can be unlocked, but you must have stock recovery for this to work. Refurbishing V30b is advisable.

Hey thanks for the procedure.
can you please make a system dump? It'll be useful for los16 with pie blob development?
Congrats to the five V30 users who will get this update.
Can I flash .kdz file with "Upgrade" (NOT Refurbish) option without losing any data? Cause I can't begin an update (the FOTA EASY UPGRADE shows for few seconds and disappearing with no results). Of course I'm working with V30b-EUR-XX version.
error comes out "windows cannot find WPDAPI.exe make sure you typed the name correctly, and try again" and press ok then new error comes out "0x2000, fail. mtp is not running." I can't update, please help me.

You'll be able to when KDZ is released.
This is for people who want to run leaked, beta -- possibly buggy -- firmware. Yes, some people want that. If your wish to experiment, then that's fine as long as you realize it's not necessary to get this update...
When it's ready LG will release it officially and there will be full image KDZ available in the KDZ thread, as well as TWRP flashable zip made by an XDA Dev.

Buggy or not. I'm already using 30b. I have a chance to do it and I want to. Don't write me if you won't help me.

You can flash H930v30b via upgrade, yes. Then send the OTA via LGUP.
Are you rooted?

WPDAPI.exe is a file provided in LGUP zip in OP, you have to patch the files in LGUP directory for this to work.

1) I'll write what I want in reply to anyone I want. It's not just for you, it's cautionary tale for anyone. Just make sure you know the risks.
2) EU H930 V30b has long been official. There's a full image KDZ and XDA Dev made TWRP flashable zip in MY KDZ thread -- so your statement makes no sense.
So what if you're running official publicly released firmware? What you're now trying to install is not officially public release firmware (yet, and no absolute guarantees it will be).

I used V30b by KDZ install and it was as buggy as the v30b OTA that I had used for a while too.
This V30q it's a huge improvement over the old version and I can say it with sure, because I have tested all these.
BTW, it's not beta anymore(is in internal test phase), they are just delaying the release with bussiness bureaucracy.

Please don't try using OTA if you're rooted.
If you are already on PIE V30B rooted you have to Backup you data, Restore the provided TWRP v30q BACKUP, then RESTORE your data and root. Latest version and all your data intact.
